What a lovely surprise. This place is just fabulous. Great food, good service and reasonably priced for London. In initial appearance it looks quite basic, until the food arrives.

Great smoked old fashioned. We came as a repeat customer from the year before. Cozy bar, great atmosphere, wonderful service.

Excellent tea selection and small bites. Our party of 4 was well-fed and felt well taken care of. Service is excellent and attentive. Our picky eaters of the group loved every bite! It was a wonderful warm respite on a blustery day.

We have been V&A members for a while but were unable to visit the museum due to all the various lockdowns/restrictions etc. However, yesterday we visited the V&A with family to see some exhibitions and decided we would meet up for lunch in this most delightful dining room. It was very busy and there was a short wait for an available table, but it wasn't more than a few minutes. The dining space is light, bright and airy, with high ceilings and tables well spaced apart. Very tastefully decorated with a long bar area. There is an eclectic menu with something to suit most tastes and dietary requirements with an impressive range of cakes, pastries and cocktails etc on offer. Excellent coffee! Service was exemplary. The staff were polite and efficient but were also welcoming and friendly. The prices reasonable for the location and the quality of produce on offer. Well worth a visit.

Her upbeat attitude has a way of lifting everyone’s spirits, making this morning stop a high point before the workday. And while the coffee alone is worth the visit, don’t miss out on the pink pistachio and lemon cake. My wife and I celebrated her birthday at Cheneston’s Restaurant in the Milestone Hotel, and the experience was delightful. From the moment we entered the hotel, we were enveloped in a traditional British elegance, exuding old-world charm and sophistication. This wasn’t just about luxury; it was about history and character, captured in a historic building with carefully preserved decor. As a smaller, independent hotel, the Milestone offers a unique, authentic feel that is both refined and welcoming. The restaurant mirrored this ambiance—traditional and high-end, yet cozy and inviting. The service was impeccable, meeting the high standards of a five-star establishment. The food was understated yet exceptional, focusing on quality ingredients and execution. We started with grilled tiger prawns, with Southeast Asian flavors and a South African twist. The prawns were perfectly grilled, with a smoky flavor. The highlight for me was the Grilled Pork Tomahawk. Although unassuming in appearance, the pork was tender, rich, and beautifully complemented by the sauce. My wife had the Grilled Dover Sole, delicately flavored with spring onion oil and lemon juice—simple yet satisfying. Overall, Cheneston’s delivered exceptional food and service in a setting that was both luxurious and intimate. We left thoroughly content and highly recommend it for a refined dining experience in London.

I had dinner here ordering their prix fixe menu with my partner. The wait staff are very nice and the food is tasty (though not extraordinary) and beautifully presented. In addition, there are a number of "free" amuse bouche items provided. However, the portion sizes from this menu are tiny. I'd say the portions are like tapas rather than a meal that will satisfy your hunger. But what really burnt my bunions was that when the bill arrived, it included a £1 charge for charity. I choose my own charities voluntarily and do not expect to be pickpocketed in a fancy, overpriced restaurant. If the owners want, they can donate to charity out of their pockets without imposing this on me with a sneaky addition to the bill. I believe it's inappropriate for a restaurant to sneak this on the bill, which would result in an embarrassing confrontation with the wait staff over it. I want to be asked to optoin rather than requiring me to opt-out. In addition, the bill had a 15% service charge, which, on top of their inflated prices and their £1 charity addition, really dented my wallet. A 12.5% service charge is the norm in London. 15% is ridiculous. There was no mention of the charity extortion or inflated service charge up front. No wonder they're closing the restaurant down. Even if they stayed open I'd never go back.

We went there for the first time two years ago and we had such a good time that we went back during our next trip. The food is excellent and the staff very friendly.

10years ago, high street ken wholefoods used to be my favourite place to get a snack and chill for a bit. the korean rice crackers came in big boxes and there was dried mango neither of which were that expensive. upstairs there was a few sofas that had a nice view and a large food/ dining area along with a good coffeeshop... now to the present day... diabolical. 1. no upstairs section. (looks like it is permanently closed). 2. the whole place seemed so grubby. 3. lack of choice. i went more than an hour before they close, there were no sandwiches, hardly any options at the hot food counter, i couldn't even buy a single cookie / brownie as they only came in boxes of many. 4. astronomical prices. small plastic box of cut pineapple with a few blueberries- £12. maybe 6 big prawns- £10. 5. rude staff. gossiping loudly to each other. 6. food quality has gone downhill. as there was no sandwiches, i got a toasted ciabatta with chicken and peppers. issue was that it was wrapped so i couldnt see it before i bought it. anyway, i unwrapped it and the bread was soggy, lack of filling, lacked flavour. was just awful. i think this is the first time when i have been seriously annoyed with a place. from somewhere that used to be so good to be utterly crap now is annoying and leaves a lack of quick food places in the area. wholefoods hs ken managment should be embarrassed.

Absolutely delightful small Italian restaurant in Kensington area. My husband and I split an heirloom tomato salad that was very flavorful. My husband ordered Tagliolini Brixham Crab dish while I order the Lamb Ragu special of the night and both dishes were outstanding. We follow our dinner with a slice of Blood Orange Polenta Cake and a glass of Limoncello to finish the night. The service was so friendly and welcoming it made us feel like we were visiting old friends. We are visiting from the States and will be in London for another week. We are hoping to visit again before we leave but will definitely recommend to others in our travel group. We had a wonderful time!
