Good food here. We came at 9pm on a Friday (party of 2) and were quoted a wait of 1.5 hours but only 25 min of queue time. The queue time was accurate but the overall time was more than we waited. I think in all we waited around 1 hour. The service at the bar was bad but the service in the dining room was great. We got a variety of stuff, listed below with asterisks to indicate what we’d get again - Okra Fries - Dishoom House Chaat - Chicken Ruby* - House Black Daal* - Cheese Naan* - Roomali Roti* - Basmati Rice* - Dishoom Chocolate Pudding* - Basmati Kheer

We had a wonderful dining experience at Dishoom Kensington. The vegetarian options were delightful, though the Chilli Cheese Toast had slightly over-burnt cheese nevertheless the overall quality of the food made up for it. Despite the long queues, the wait was well worth it. A special shoutout to our server, David, who provided exceptional service and made our visit more enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Restaurant packed - no idea why. Went for Brunch having been to another Dishoom for dinner about two years ago. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. I ordered the Wrestlers Naan apparently loaded with bacon, sausages and fried egg. My wife ordered spicy cheesy bread with egg on top. We sent it all back. Disappointing at so many levels - eggs not runny, naan soggy, not a big (wrestlers) portion of bacon and measly portion of spicy beans to top it off for £4.20! In summary they’ve now officially taken advantage of their past reputation and sadly lost the plot. We won’t be going there for brunch ever again.

Lovely food. Have to mention our waitress Sofia, the absoloute loveliest girl who was so understanding and catering towards my nut allergy - she answered all our questions, was so kind and was checking in regularly. If there is one Indian place in London where you MUST go, It is here. My wife and I had several Indian ex-pats tell us that we had to go here, and we were not disappointed. You need reservations because it gets busy. Rightly so. The food is seriously out of this world. Everything we ate was just fantastic. We had the Chicken tikka, Ruby Chicken, lamb shish, and chicken biriani. All amazing. Even the desserts were on fire. The chocolate pudding with chili ice cream was nuts. Heck, even a friend on Untappd (app) had been there and raved on it. Just go, please...

Honestly dont even bother. To start with our server “sofia” called my poor sister a “sir” upon greeting our table!! to which she was very upset over as she has recently developed alopecia she still looks very feminine and it is more then clear she is a woman. Was just a bit careless and offensive of the staff no apology or anything really. No one came to check on us for nearly 30 minutes….having to chase for drinks. Asked for water twice, never came. Service is just so slow! even when the restaurant became quieter the server seemed uninterested and ignored us. There were things we didnt order she argued with us calling us liars too! Terrible communication and appalling customer service. 1 star is a compliment. To say it was bad would be an understatement. The rest of the team were lovely but we wont be going back for sure.

Across the board, above average Indian food and a diner like setting. All dishes, regardless of spice indicator, has some degree of heat. Options are limited than a typical Indian restaurant but, has the highlights from rice, curry, and veg, options. If you order naan, order 2 at a time, single order is only one piece cut in half. Teas and cocktails are expansive.

I don't often write reviews, but my experience at this Dishoom was so wonderful and cathartic against the backdrop of London that in this instance I feel compelled to. The customer-facing staff were affable from the moment I stepped into their establishment, and there was a lot of immediate transparency when it came to service times and the prices of various beverages. It never felt like I was in the way; it felt like the waiters and staff were only out to please, not to rush you or to squeeze you into a tight schedule. Lucy and the trainee with her (whose name I might have forgotten, but who likewise deserves equal compliment) were on the ball the entire time I was there. They didn't interrupt during a mouthful of food and waited for moments where it seemed I was waiting and where it would be opportune to inquire about things. They were both extremely friendly and for once it didn't feel like I was on a conveyor belt in a restaurant! They certainly have a knack when it comes to people-reading. I felt obliged to leave them a tip for their exemplary service. The breakfast dish I ordered was served quickly, and the cooking was to a high standard. The coriander was plentiful (served on the side - for those who cannot appreciate this herb's grandeur); the bread was the perfect balance of bouncy and crispy; the eggs were neither too wet nor too brown; the cumin wasn't overdone; the spice was noticeable but not oppressive. I hoovered it up! The coffee was likewise a refreshing character actor and deserves equal adoration. In terms of atmosphere, there was some lovely jazz music in the background and bubbles of conversation from other diners. The decor and artwork in the restaurant drew my attention in the periods of waiting, but I regret that I didn't get to see the balcony area above where I was seated. The place feels alive and inversely uncrowded. After a hectic experience on a hot day, between train journeys, this place seems like an interim oasis. I thoroughly recommend that you give Dishoom a chance. I wasn't in the restaurant for hours but I was entirely satisified with my breakfast experience and (if - by necessity - I must return to London again) I would consider this a safe enough haven to try out the lunch and dinner menus! Keep it up, guys! Tasted just like my mum's cooking and brought me some joy on a very stressful day!

First time at a Dishoom. I want to start off by saying that both the drinks and food were fantastic in terms of quality and taste (margarita, chef's special, chicken curry, okra fries, samosas, potatoes and naan). There is something slightly off, however, about the Dishoom experience. This place is somewhat between fine dining and a diner. Something should change. The prices of the plates are not in accordance with their price. For example, the biggest plate, the chef's special lamb biryani, has a bone underneath the breading top that takes up much of the dish, turning this delicious dish into somewhat of a disappointment. If I'm going to be charged that much for tiny plates then the place should be smaller. It is just too noisy to pretend to be that fancy and have such a slick operation (everybody working there knows what they are doing). It is not pleasant to stay after finishing your meal. Otherwise, plates should be bigger or be cheaper. For such a long wait (~60) the crisps (£4!) should be complimentary or the naan portion has to be more generous. I know this place is very successful and it seems like it'll continue to be this way but something has to change for it to be fully worth it.

The service is attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring that guests feel well taken care of. The staff is happy to recommend dishes based on preferences and dietary restrictions. While the prices may be slightly higher than some other Indian restaurants, the quality of the food and the overall experience make it well worth it. Dishoom Kensington is a fantastic choice for a special occasion or a night out with friends Overall Good food. Not extra ordinary. Rice was a bit dry. 20£ for grilled chicken with some rice...

Horrible service and sour experience tonight being asked bluntly to leave even before we could order dessert or coffee! We were seated next to the kitchen. The Eastern European waitress that was serving us, Sophia, was especially rude and petty about the 20min of extra time we had apparently overstayed at our table. We wanted to get dessert but the rude and pushy service seriously put us off so much that we left shortly after mains. A chaotic evening of terrible service from an inept waitress who had no idea what she was doing or when to do it. Waiting 10+ minutes to order, 20+ minutes for one drink. Spilled red wine all over my jacket. Extremely disappointing experience. It was atrocious. Never again.

Being a vegetarian Indian, I was holding very high expectations. But this restaurant has majorly non-veg options. For the main dish, in veg curries, they just have matter paneer. Plus, the service was too late. After waiting for 30 mins to get the table, the order came in 40 mins. This was just a waste of time. The craze of having veg indian food from a well-known restaurant in London faded immediately after the first visit. It is very likely that we will not visit again.

Waited 30 minutes for a table at lunchtime. Wish I hadn't waited now. Chicken Tikka was so dry and chewy, I've had better from a supermarket microwave ready meal. The garlic naan was very dry and tasteless also. Couldn't get any garlic flavour. I should have gone to Zaika around the corner on Kensington High Street which is much much better. The chicken melts in your mouth there. Dishoom is too big and busy to cook food consistently well. It's like an Indian version of Nando's from my experience. Overhyped and overrated. Restaurant chains are never the best places to experience authentic and good quality food.

Well, if the 1 hour wait line and the food doesn't confirm otherwise, I have no idea what would, because this is THE best authentic Indian food in London! The staff and service are the best! We had the Lamb Biryani, House Black Daal, Roomali, Ocra Fries, Yada Pau, and the Chicken Ruby (which, by the way, was so good we ordered 2 of them). After visits to multiple sites, I'm beginning to think the waiting game at Dishoom is no longer worth it. Especially when they eff up the queue and my beeper is defective. Maybe it's time that Dishoom respects its collective guest's time and installs a rez system, like most other restaurants in town. The food is still good, but has there been deflation on its portion sizes? The ruby chicken was amazing, the dahl makhani rich and the chilli chicken punchy as expected. Service was solid as always, although questionable when you feel compelled to give the presumptive 15% service charge. Should always make this an option at the card machine after providing the bill instead.

I interjected to say we were there with reservations she just nodded, proceeded to seat the gentlemen and then made us wait 30 minutes for a table. I thought that was pretty awful. I would have complained and left. But my son really wanted Indian food. Thankfully my kids did not have a fit having to wait until 2:30 to finally eat lunch. I think the food and ambience were wonderful but it was literally the only place we went to in all of our travels where we experienced such snooty service which ruined it for me. It's like Mumbai is alive in London through Dishoom! Loved the starters and the main course, Bun Maska Chai brought back memories, and so did Vada Pav.

Some of the best Indian food and some of the best customer service! The live music on certain days is a wonderful addition to the atmosphere, and the decorations and lighting compliment the restaurant well!

What a hyped up place! Food is mediocre at best and the portion size is laughable. Let’s take Chef’s special biriyani - the potion is so friggin small with a large bone conveniently placed in the middle of the bowl taking up all the place where my food should have been. Now For £25/- that’s a rip-off. What exactly am I paying for here? Ok what about the ambience? It’s loud and I mean really loud that it falls short of providing any fine dining experience but definitely provides you with a borough market (at noon time) experience. It’s really more of a diner The final touch came when the waitress started cleaning our table when we were still seated. The word ‘Dishoom’ is the sound when you are punched in the face. Clearly, that part is guaranteed.

The place is buzzing and if you don’t book, expect a good 50-60min wait. Great food and fast service once you order. Have tried them in both London and Manchester.

Amazing Indian food , don’t miss out on the meat biryani and the chicken ruby . However I wished they had butter chicken on their menu , neither did they have the classic Indian sweets like gulab jamun or the ras mali

We went for lunch around 12 and didn't have to wait. Food was good but nothing exceptional. It's a well known restaurant and generally really busy. Service gets impacted due to that as one waiter is tending to many tables at same time.
