My partner and I ate in the bar area on Friday night. Food was great, service friendly and helpful and the place had a really nice vibe.

THIS REVIEW IS BASED SOLELY ON THE RESTAURANT FACILITIES OF THE HOTEL. I haven't reviewed the rooms, as I was only there to eat, not for an overnight stay. The food was mostly enjoyable, and, in general, the service was fine. The background music was probably over 'background' level, but it was tolerable. The enjoyable food and fine service were unfortunately tainted at the end of our experience by a rather humiliating incident caused by poor communication from staff. One of the party was limited on what they could eat (GF dietary requirements). When she asked the waitress about specific ingredients in some dishes, the waitress couldn't provide the information, despite going to ask for advice. This wasn't ideal, as the party member was obviously more limited on choices to avoid risks, but we were able to make it work by sticking solely to a main meal they felt was safe. I had already paid the full bill for our party of four, left a tip, etc., and was about to depart the restaurant when the waitress advised me there had been an underpayment due to an error on the bill (the menu didn't state individual dish pricing so we had no way of questioning this). She advised I would have to be charged an additional sum for food we did not order, we were not served, and we did not eat. I questioned how this applied, but she couldn't explain it beyond that we had chosen not to order additional dishes. I couldn't understand this; however, rather than cause more embarrassment within the group, I paid up and left. This definitely tainted what should have been an enjoyable experience and has deterred me from future visits or recommendations.

Fabulous food as usual. Excellent quality, service and value. Great location and easily accessible. Could be so much more expensive than what it is considering the standard of food.

Full vegan, Gluten free menu and dairy free cakes, what not to like? As someone who isn’t vegan but dairy and egg intolerant, this is such a great wee cafe that I wish I’d found sooner. I really do hope the community continue to support this local business.

The staff were excellent our waiter, Alexander, was superb, made our night. Would return any time. Thank you.

Hemos sido comensales allí durante años a pesar de haber varios más cerca, El personal es excelente, amable y siempre dispuesto a ayudar, Vamos a extrañar este restaurante y no se ve la razón económica!

Not as clean as one would hope when dining after a walk around the park on a lovely winter day. Okay service from teens. Fish and chips were filling and my coffee was surprisingly excellent.

WORST lunch i was ever served. Inedible. I ordered hadock as menu cut to the bone. Fish was only dish i thought might be edible. I opted for salad to accompany the fish. Drowned in oil. Chips were cold, fish was awful. I was ill for 3 days after i got home. They should be shut down permanantly. 00 out of 10.

Can't understand the good reviews, unless we were very unlucky. Firstly, on a positive note, the staff were lovely, very attentive and welcoming. No issues at all. Both my brother and I opted for a Scottish breakfast. Served one of each, bacon, potato scone, square sausage and fried egg, with toast. The only thing that got pass marks was the toast. Nice. Everything else was anemic. The potato scone looked like it was dipped in oil and served. Bacon had barely seen the pan/grill as was the sausage. Just disappointing. And at £8.00/head, not good value either.
