The satnav took through Wentbridge to avoid the queues on the A1. We dropped in to the Blue Bell purely on spec - and weren't disappointed! The idea was just to have a quick drink but we ended up having two rounds with a starter and pudding each, folled by coffee! So impressed that we've booked New Year's dinner there and staying at their sister establishment just down the road, the Wentbridge House Hotel...

Been today for Sunday lunch I've given 3 * the pub and eating area was freezing we told the staff it was freezing she did say il check to see if the heating was on it clearly wasn't I'd like to ask why the fire wasn't lit if the fire was lit it would have made it 100% better our meal went cold very quickly has the place was cold and un welcoming we won't be visiting again until the summer months where it will be warming the Sunday lunch was OK the mash wasn't great but the turkey was tasty just a bad atmosphere because of the cold we had to sit and eat with our coats on not good my recommendations are heat the place either put the heating on or lit the beautiful fireplace you have in the pub to make it a warmer and cosy where you can eat your meal

When booking we asked if they could offer gluten free options. They asked “how gluten free?” Erm… gluten free is gluten free! It was explained that 2 people attending had Coeliacs Disease. We were informed at the time of booking that the fryer used for gluten free was out of action. Upon ordering gluten free braising steak we were told it was unavailable. Second choice was a gluten free beef burger only to be told 10 minutes later that the patty wasn’t gluten free! The chicken burger was offered as an alternative. When the chicken burger arrived it looked delicious. Wrong. The chicken/bacon/cheese was tasteless and the gluten free bread tasted & smelled like pure yeast. We thought having the gluten free chocolate orange brownie would make up for the disappointing main course. Gluten free chocolate brownies ordered. 15 minutes later we were told they were unavailable. I won’t be recommending this restaurant on any of the local Coeliacs websites. If they can’t offer a realistic gluten free menu then they shouldn’t advertise that they can.

Passed by here many times before but as the main part seemed a little run down we hadn't given it a second thought. This time however, We were in need of a break as our journey had been fraught with heavy traffic so we pulled in and were so glad that we did. A very pleasant refreshment stop, with helpful, friendly and smiling staff meant that we stayed a little longer than intended. We shall definitely call in again when travelling this route.

Called in today after last experience a while ago being very disappointing. Still very poor ! Ciabatta dry with very little filling, chips cold, Red velvet cake dry and tasteless. Iced coffee more like water. All extortionately priced ! Won't bother rushing back.

Used this place quite a few times. Staff are lovely and so is the food. Plenty of choice on the menu and the prices are decent too
