If you’re going to book Tapton Hall for an occasion DO NOT have their DJ. We went to a 60th wedding anniversary and the DJ decided he wasn’t playing any music we asked for. We’re talking a 60th wedding anniversary so you’d expect Beatles, Stones Motown well we got none of that, just the rubbish HE wanted to play..he did play about 4 seconds of a requested Drifters song and as soon as we all got up …he turned it off and said ‘ I’ll play that later’, so we all sat down . This DJ was being paid a good amount for his services and he was rubbish. You’d think that when he’d got people on the dance floor he’d stick to that type of music because everybody was enjoying it…not this DJ he’d empty the floor with music from such as S club 7 whatever they’re called and this was for an audience of people 70+ years old and what’s more important the customer who was paying him. In fact at one point the person who was employing him asked for some Bob Marley..you’d think he’d play a few reggae songs get everyone up.. no chance. ONE song not even by Bob Marley and that was it..then back to his rubbish. I tell you we went to a do at Beauchief golf club in February and the DJ they had..(don’t know his name) was brilliant. He played what his audience asked for and got a feel for his audience and had us up dancing all night. So if you’re having a ‘do’ at Tapton Hall get another DJ and not the one they recommend…forewarned is forearmed .

We love the Three Merry Lads for family occasions. We've had a few big gatherings there over the years, and also Sunday roasts after a dog walk. Emily is a super waitress, always friendly, and makes you feel welcomed. The food has always been delicious and reasonably priced. A lovely friendly pub!

Visited few years ago and was amazing but recent experience was very disappointing. The staff lacked professionalism and friendliness, giving the impression they weren't happy to be there. There was no clear sign on where to wait to be served ,and the staff did not approach us, so I had to ask where we should go. One staff member rudely told me off, saying it was a check-in area for the hotel without trying to ask if I need any help. The food presentation was decent, but the Sunday roast was bland and very cold, with undercooked potatoes and cold vegetables. We waited far too long to be served and then waited 27 minutes for the food to arrive. I hope management sees this review and takes steps to improve the customer service experience and food quality. I would not recommend this place to others until there are visible improvements.
