Tapton Hall in Sheffield

Really interesting place, good history and has a connection with the Mason's.

In January 2025 I had an afternoon tea for friends and family at Tapton Hall, to mark the start of a year of celebrations for my 60th birthday. It was the best! I liaised with Becki regularly leading up to the day and she could not have been more accommodating. On the day itself the food was delicious, the staff were super attentive throughout, and everyone commented on what a great venue it was. I was so pleased with how the day went! Very sadly, 10 days after my afternoon tea, my Mum died. Having had such a positive experience at Tapton, we decided to host the wake there a few weeks later and again Becki was accommodating with my requests, the food was great and the staff were kind and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. I highly recommend Tapton if you are looking to organise an event of any kind - you won’t be disappointed! Thank you to Becki and Tapton Hall staff!

Updated Jan 2025 Afternoon tea was delicious. We were celebrating the start of a year of celebrations for a family member in a private room. Service was excellent, as always. Updated Dec 2024 Another great evening celebrating the New Year. Music was good and happy to report the food is still excellent. Dec 2019 and 2018 New year's eve party was good fun. The hot and cold buffet was excellent and there was plenty of food.

Me and my Husband got married here on the 21st of December and couldn't have asked for a better venue. Beautiful place for a full wedding having the wedding ceremony here the wedding breakfast then on to the dance floor for the reception it all flowed seamlessly but each room adding sonthing different. The staff are exceptional helpfull and friendly. The food was great with a variety of menu options to cater for everyone, and a big thank you to Becky, who helped organise it and make our day as special as it was. The venue made for some great pictures to be captured.

Si vas a reservar Tapton Hall para una ocasión NO tengas su DJ. Fuimos a un 60 aniversario de bodas y el DJ decidió que no estaba tocando ninguna música que pedimos. Estamos hablando de un 60 aniversario de bodas, así que uno esperaría Beatles, Stones Motown, bueno, no tuvimos nada de eso, solo la basura que él quería tocar. . él tocó alrededor de 4 segundos de una canción solicitada de Drifters y tan pronto como todos nos levantamos ... lo apagó y dijo 'tocaré eso más tarde', así que todos nos sentamos. Este DJ estaba recibiendo una buena cantidad por sus servicios y era una basura. Uno pensaría que cuando tuviera gente en la pista de baile se aferraría a ese tipo de música porque todo el mundo la estaba disfrutando... no este DJ vaciaría la pista con música de como S club 7 se llamen como se llamen y esto era para un público de personas de más de 70 años y lo que es más importante el cliente que le estaba pagando. De hecho, en un momento dado la persona que lo estaba empleando pidió un poco de Bob Marley... uno pensaría que tocaría unas cuantas canciones de reggae para que todo el mundo se levantara... sin posibilidad. UNA canción ni siquiera de Bob Marley y eso fue todo . . luego de vuelta a su basura. Les cuento que fuimos a un do en Beauchief Golf Club en febrero y el DJ que tenían (no sé su nombre) fue brillante. Tocó lo que su público pedía y sintió algo por su público y nos hizo bailar toda la noche. Así que si vas a tener un ‘do’ en Tapton Hall consigue otro DJ y no el que recomiendan... preavisado está de antemano.

Went he to dance Ceroc, had a lovely evening with lovely people. The dance floor was good and amenities excellent.

Me and my partner got married at tapton Masonic hall on July 27th 2024. Becky our wedding coordinator was absolutely amazing and we couldn’t have asked for a better day/night. The food was amazing with all our guests complementing how nice the food was and the dj played every song our guests asked for. Becky went out of her way for us on our big day and even spent time watching out for our 2 year old son and took him to the buffet for something to eat has he loved her. The bar staff was great and couldn’t do enough for us. Highly recommend Becky and the team at tapton hall and the place is amazing 5* from us.. Thanks for lovely day Matthew & jade

Mi pareja y yo nos casamos en Tapton Masonic Hall el 27 de julio de 2024. Becky nuestra coordinadora de bodas era absolutamente increíble y no podríamos haber pedido un mejor día / noche. La comida era increíble con todos nuestros invitados complementando lo agradable que era la comida y el dj tocó cada canción que nuestros invitados pidieron. Becky hizo todo lo posible por nosotros en nuestro gran día e incluso pasó tiempo cuidando de nuestro hijo de 2 años y lo llevó al buffet para algo de comer si él la ha amado. El personal del bar era genial y no podía hacer lo suficiente para nosotros. Recomiendo encarecidamente Becky y el equipo en tapton hall y el lugar es increíble 5 * de nosotros. . Quite disappointed. Tapton hall hosted a abba tribute band night. Around £20 per person. Advertised as 7pm - 12am . Got there for 6:40pm. Had to sit and wait until about 7:50 before you were able to go inside and sit at a table. The band started at 8pm and finished at 10pm. I almost feel scammed as the advert on eventbrite said the event was 7pm-12am. If i had known the band was only on for 2 hours i wouldnt have travelled so far for it. Maybe you can stay at the place until midnight but it should have been advertised that the band was only 2 hours long. The drinks were surprisingly cheap . Food was served during the event with dry olives and a small amount of torilla chips with dip. I gave a 3star as the girls in the band were amazing. Very talented. However the rest of the experience would've gotten a 1star. I wouldn't recommend coming here for any event. I feel unsatisfied

Amera and I had the pleasure of having our full wedding ceremony and reception here. Plenty of parking amid beautiful surrounds with a picturesque building at its heart. We had the building exclusively for our special day which progressed seamlessly from room to room with Becki the event co-ordinator hosting brilliantly. The food was excellent, both wedding breakfast and evening reception. We have received numerous comments from our guests about how great the day was and Becki and her team at Tapton Hall contributed significantly. A special 'shout out' to the DJ who was fantastic and really accommodating re our requests.

Lovely venue and staff. Attentive and had alot of different vendors at the wedding fayre we attended. Massive car park and the women's cloakroom is MASSIVE. A few mirrors in there even a full length fancy mirror, place to hang coats with hangers too and clean!

Absolutely horrendous customer service and just entirely disappointing. We used Tapton Hall for a wake after a funeral. We weren't greeted or taken care of at arrival, there was no information or signage to where we should go and we spent 15 minutes trying to find the room we had been placed in. The staff were surly and unfriendly, they stayed behind the bar when we did finally find our room and paid little attention to us. Once inside we found a dirty table where the teas and coffee were lukewarm and appeared to have been sitting out all morning, there were no staff to help us pour drinks. The mugs we had been given were disgusting - all were dirty or stained and we had to return to the bar outside and ask that we were given clean ones. We had asked specifically for there to be dairy free alternatives readily available for drinks but none were provided and we had to ask multiple times for this to be done by a staff team that could not have appeared any less motivated to take care of our grieving family. The buffet food had not been prepared and it seemed the staff team had been running behind, this would not have been a problem if there was someone to communicate this with us. Despite Tapton’s claim on their website “ We are proud to offer a 5* service which puts your needs and wishes at the heart of everything we do, and we know you’ll always find our staff respectful” we were made to feel an inconvenience and we found the staff to be anything but respectful. The food was mainly satisfactory although one guest found that the potted clotted cream did have mould spots on and resembled that of a Petri dish. All of this to say that the food, customer care, cleanliness and overall sense of service we received was just poor. Words cannot convey the disappointment we feel, the trust you put in a company to help celebrate and honour the life of someone is of the highest degree and Tapton Hall were an absolute disgrace. I make this review not out of spite but to genuinely warn potential customers to spend their money with an alternative service; one that will take care of you on such a monumental day.

We recently had our wedding at Tapton Hall on the 30th of March, 2024, and we couldn't be happier with our choice of venue. Becki, who managed our wedding, was fantastic. She was incredibly accommodating, helping us with all our requests both before and after the wedding. On the big day, she even went above and beyond to assist Summer with her wedding dress, which was a huge relief! The food at Tapton Hall was outstanding. We received numerous compliments from our guests about how delicious everything was. The bar staff were also excellent, providing great service and even joining in with the dancing, which added to the fun atmosphere. The DJ was really accommodating, playing all our requested songs and keeping the party going until midnight. Overall, our experience at Tapton Hall was fantastic, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wedding venue. Huge thanks to Becki and the team for helping to make our day so special.

Lovely venue, lovely food, terrible, staff. Well, most seemed nice, but totally ruined by a woman who seemed to be a manager, 'rebecca'. She was awful. Very rude, abrupt and disrespectful. What a shame a lovely venue like this, who serve gorgeous food would hire such an awful woman like this! Totally ruined the wedding we was at this Saturday. She upset multiple guests and suppliers. What a shame.

Our party of 8 adults and 3 children went to Tapton Hall for a Mothers Day lunch. The premises were outstanding, the food excellent, the service superb. We were made very welcome by the friendly staff. I would definitely recommend the venue After our experience.

Tapton Hall has a mix of victorian and 60s architecture. It is the principle masonic lodge for Sheffield but I believe it is also available for weddings and events.

Masonic Provincial Meeting of West Yorkshire, wonderful building, excellent meeting, lovely food and great company.

Large venue (actually an old masonic hall), plenty of parking and well organised. Had my son's wedding reception here and everything ran very smoothly. Food was good and well presented. The main halls are upstairs. These are pleasantly decorated. Staff knew what they were doing and if there were any problems they dealt with them without getting in the way of the occasion.

Disappointing Christmas market. Only a few stands, felt sorry for the stall holders.

The second time I booked for afternoon tea the experience was very poor. I requested gluten and lactose free food which was excellent on the first visit. I was told it was difficult for THE CHEF. They gave me salad sandwiches and a jam tart amongst some very poor white bread without any spread. I will not book again if their chef has difficulty providing basic food which any decent cafe or restaurant can provide for my dietary requirements. My guests were embarrassed by my poor food too.

Very grand place! We went for a party for International Older People's Day! We had sandwiches and scones. Plus the entertainment was good. We even met the current Master Cutler!

The building is amazing, it's a very welcoming place with massive free carpark. It has got many rooms that are suitable for any kind of congregation. Talk to Becky, who has got the kindest personality. she'll help to tailor your event to fit your budget and to please you and your guests. Food is nice and staff in general are very helpful and kind.

You won't find better value for money anywhere else. Excellent, food, disco and a quiz. There is a warmth from the staff as you feel so well looked after. Only criticism = the quiz would be better between dinner and disco to give your tummy a rest😊. The atmosphere at midnight is 2nd to none

Plenty of parking, impressive interior, with very large dining room. Very good food served hot which is not easy with a large number of guests. Attentive staff.

I got married at Tapton hall on the 24th September and it was a brilliant day. We had so many comments on the food being delicious by our guests & the wedding organiser Becki is a lovely woman. However I do feel the place is understaffed, on our wedding day both me and my husband were asked directions by the public to different events happening within the hall as there were no staff downstairs to direct people. Me and my husband was also under the impression the hall would be accommodating our wedding only that day and we were disappointed when we learned this wasn’t the case. Following up to the wedding I found myself sending several chaser emails for responses but again I feel a lot of responsibility is rested on one persons shoulders. Other than that the day itself was fantastic, the drinks were reasonably priced, the food was 10/10 & all our guests had a fab time xx

Visited Tapton hall at different times for both jive dancing & funeral wake, nice place for both occasions, staff friendly, efficient on dance nights & sympathetic & considerate at the wake. Plenty of free parking bar prices competitive

I attended for a school reunion for my Grammar School. The building is so beautiful, steeped in tradition and Masonic symbols. The room we had was air conditioned and nicely arranged. The afternoon tea was served individually, according to covid regulations . The scones were a let down but everything else was delicious and fresh. The bar was handily adjacent. The staff were friendly and obliging. A wonderful afternoon with old friends.

This place has all the atmosphere of a graveyard. Afternoon tea was just about OK but the scones could have been used as doorstops. Not impressed at all.

Afternoon tea was disappointing and they need to get a better recipe for scones! The room was very nice but the view out of the window is awful car park, pile of chain fencing and mobile phone mast to look at, such a shame it could be made very nice. I would rather go to our small coffee shop!

A elegant place for a very special party

Wonderful polite happy helpful staff. Spacious beautifully dressed and well kept party room. Clean spacious well stocked toilets and cloak room. Lovely bar area with lots of well spaced seating if you want to break out from the party room to chat.

Some of the meals could have been warmer but overall a good choice of food. The waiters were rather quick at getting payment for our drinks, they approached us while we were eating. All staff were very nice, very helpful. I would go back.

The party room and food were great but the loos needed maintenance. Of the four sinks in the men's, two were out of service, and one urinal was blocked. In the ladies, one of the door locks didn't work. The maintenance manager needs to get their act together!

Great venue for masonic and other events. Catering is excellant

Where to start with this one? Lovely stone mansion ruined by 1960's extension. Two druggies hanging around the entrance asking if it is a hostel! That's before we get in. Inside there is no one to be seen. We look for the restaurant, but there isn't a sign. Finally we go up some stairs which tell us not to go up. This is the restaurant entrance. We get shown to our table. One of about 12. The room has high level windows, thankfully letting in some light. The room is bland and austere. Tables are well spaced but the chairs are covered ready for a wedding. There is some background music, but there is no ambiance. We have gone as there is 50% off food. We have decided that however good the food is we will not return. Staff were attentive but didn't always take food to the correct tables. Wine was well priced and the food was very good. It was a real experience, but not for us.

We recently had our "Lockdown" wedding at Tapton Hall, Becky and the team were amazing not just on the day but equally, on the run up to. Keeping us well informed and doing all they could to make the process as stress free for us as possible. The venue was COVID safe, well managed and everything ran smoothly. The day was everything we could have hoped for and more. We have had nothing but complements from our guests about the venue, food and organization. Becky we will never be able to thank you enough, for helping to make our 2020 wedding happen.

We enjoyed a great meal on sunday,the meal was excellent and the service was great, the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The owner was not only incredibly rude with us, but we saw she was also rude with her staff and yelled at several of them when it was completely unnecessary. I feel sorry for the people who work there. If that wasn't bad enough, the food was also not worth the money at all, I could've easily cooked something better at home.

What a treat! We had a lovely evening at Tapton Hall, taking advantage of the 50% off the new menu. We could not fault a thing. We had 3 courses, all of which were delicious! Everything cooked to perfection! Lovely atmosphere, great service and amazing food! An enjoyable evening!

the water tasted like they poured it directly out of a pigs trough into my cup it was murky too

Called at a craft fair which was nice, just a few stalls. Lovely building had a bar where you could buy a selection of alcoholic/non alcoholic and hot drinks

Good conference facility in this Masonic Lodge. The catering, however, is horrible.

A great venue. Becky looked after us really well. Food was excellent, all our requests positively received. Will definitely use Tapton Hall for our future workshops.
