Sadly we tried to book a table yesterday for a celebration lunch. NO reply. Stared ringing again today from 10.00AM. Still the no response. Extremely sad 😦. Back to the Plough in Bradfield.

Friendly welcome. Attentive & helpful staff. Varied lunchtime menu, tasty food, great value & a nice selection of ales. I recommend booking a table because it can be quite busy. Large carpark across the road from the pub.

It's in a lovely setting and the staff were friendly and efficient. The food is good basic pub grub - generous portions and good value for money. There are special offers on food at weekday lunchtimes.

The pub busy as always and welcome good. However the food was not as good as usual. We had roast dinners there was no roast potatoes the meat was tough and potatoes stoggy.

Such good value for money. Delicious food and lovely location. Had many visits to this pub and it’s never disappointed. Will definitely come again.

Not only is the pub in an excellent location within surrounding countryside, but it has great tasting food from a varied food menu catering for all tastes and good value for money. All the serving staff are efficient and attentive, Nathan front of the house is such a polite young man who is always on hand and helpful.

We visit the Rivelin Pub for food and drinks several times a week, the food is always really good and the staff are always friendly & welcoming especially Nathan who gives outstanding customer service

Lunch at The Rivelin. What a lovely place, food and service. Got a fish and chips. I only have F&C when I know the quality is spot on. Would recommend warmly if only for a pint of Stones!

Male member of staff very rude. Soon as we entered he said no table available would have to be seated outside when 3 unreserved tables was visablely free, so we asked to be seated inside. He tutted and agreed we could sit inside. He then got our order wrong, eventually food arrived nearly 1hour later, when asked why it had taken so long he became very rude and argumentative, I politely reminded him he didn’t need to speak to us like that we had young children with us he clearly had no costumer service skills. He then left the pub in a strop. Been here many times before with no problems at all unfortunately this male is letting the team and the reputation of the pub down after this experience the food didn’t go down well as if felt we wasn’t at all welcome there so ruined our lunch.

I booked a table for 3 people for my wife's birthday on 06/08/24 at 19.15 we arrived at around 19.00 but was able to sit at our table 19. Our first time at this pub, we were sat there for quite a long time so I got up to go to the bar in case we had to get our drinks but the young lady said someone would come to our table. Around 19.20 finally we got our drinks ordered but didn't get them till 19.40 then another long wait before they came to take our order for food at 20.10 then we had another lengthy wait for our food to make an appearance. Myself & my wife ordered the same, rib eye steaks with mash, pepercorn sauce & veg. Both the steaks were very chewy & stringy NOT AT ALL GOOD. My daughter ordered lamb & on the menu it stated that the veg was an extra cost for her so my daughter didn't order veg, but when her meal came it had veg so not sure if this cost was added or not as when paying for the bill there were no breakdown of what we had including drinks it was just a receipt for total sum. My daughters meal of lamb consistsed of very small pieces of lamb so small I could have put them in the palm of my hand, she mentioned this to the landlady & her reply was that's all you get. All in all the experience at Rivelin Hotel was diabolical like waiting for a bus that doesn't turn up. As for the food it was very poor quality & certainly not worth the money. I booked this place as I saw it had good reviews?? I can't believe the stars on here some 4 out of 5, 5 out of 5, couple 2/3 out of 5, That's debatable HOW come our food was so crap?? all I can say is that some people who eat here must either be used to eating rubbish on their plates or we got rubbish on our plates. We Most Certainly would NOT go there again & would NOT recommend this place to anyone. It was utter garbage. I wouldn't have given 1, star.

I booked a table for7. 15pm for 3 people as it was my wife's birthday 06/08/2024 we arrived just after 7 but sat at our table straight away, it was 7.20pm before anyone came to ask us what we'd like to drink ( I had just gone the bar to ask if we get our own drinks or if someone comes to the table) then anotherong wait before a member of staff came to ask for order, ( I went to the bar again to ask if we order food at the bar, as this was our first time here) it was 7.40 when we were finally asked for our order. Then going on for 8.30 when we got our food. Well my daughter ordered lamb with mash & with gravy ( veg was extra but she didn't order veg but still got veg, not sure if I was charged as it doesn't show a breakdown on my receipt) The lamb was very little, you could have fitted the little pieces in the palm of your hand, my daughter even questioned it but the landlady said that's all you get. Myself & my wife had the same rib eye steak, very chewy & stringy, NOT very impressed with the long waits & poor quality of food. I booked this place for the reviews it has but as far as I can see the people who put on these reviews must be used to eating rubbish or we got got rubbish because we are not regulars. In all the food was diabolical & the service was too. We would not call again.

This is an excellent place for lunch. Reaopnably priced, excellent food. Classic 'pub food', but of restaurant quality and generous portions, Varied, well-cooked veg. This iscthe best 'pub lunch in Sheffield. Dog-friendly to boot🐶

We dropped in on Thursday lunchtime and it was busy. We hadn’t booked but they found us a table. Apologies for wait for food but got drinks straight away. Larger shandy with more lemonade than larger. Gave it 20mins then asked if we could order food. Apparently because we hadn’t booked we took second place to those that had booked even though they came in after us. Terrible way to treat customers. Won’t be back. The food was really good.

A traditional English pub with traditional food. Quaint little pub off the beaten track serving several beers and lagers and amazing traditional food,the 3 roast dinner is fantastic with home made Yorkshire puddings make sure your hungry because the portions are enormous, lovely friendly staff, outside play area's for kids well worth a visit

Had a family birthday group (8) for Sunday lunch. Excellent food, beer and service. Thx. Had a variety of roasts across the group. I had pork no gravy (aka. dryza bone 🤣). Spot on. Yum 😋

Lovely food, great service. I ordered the lamb rump with spinach mash and vegetables, delicious. Everyone else loved their meals. Price of food and drinks was really reasonable. Was a lovely spring evening and the views from this pub were spectacular, would definitely recommend!

Had 69th birthday meal, shared with my good friend Marie on 18th march 2024. Found everything from service, food, venue and staff to be excellent. I had the ribeye steak. Cooked to perfection. Meal for 10 was served quickly and everyone agreed it was a good evening. Will be back again. John Wood.

Beautiful country pub unspoilt - indeed improved - by its expansion. Draft ales, car park, play ground and beautiful views. We've eaten here before though not recently and the food has been excellent. Care required on the narrow Tofts Lane leading off Rivelin Valley Road. UPDATE: 26th February 2024. The wife and I called in for a bite. We chose from the 2 for £14 menu and the food was both incredibly tasty and plentiful. Great range of Farmer's beers and table service (although you can get served at the bar). There was a bit of a wait but the pub was busy. Tremendous value.

Excellent experience at The Rivlin Chicken Kiev to die for, freshly cooked. Staff friendly and very good. All 4 meals were prepared and served to perfection Will definitely return.

Went for lunch 😋 100% definitely will recommend. The service top tear, food, customer service 5star could not fault this place at all and I came all the way from London, will be back soon

Excellent food and drinks. We were a large party and nothing was too much trouble for them from booking to eating. Staff were very pleasant and friendly.

Absolutely incredible pub, great for anyone who’s just gone walking near. The pub is so cosy, very warm and has the sport on across multiple screens. The food portions are massive and fantastic quality. Great value for money. Service was fab, looked after our dog too! HIGHLY recommend.

Lovely pub with some nice beers on tap, large beer garden and play area. We had the Sunday lunch (9/10), tuna melt (8/10) and salt’n pepper chips (10/10) - good portions and all delicious (except the coleslaw). The prices are reasonable, £12 Sunday lunch, £5 melt and £4 chips. Helpful staff, it was really busy by about 1pm on the Sunday we were there, so booking recommended. The pub is dog friendly too, will definitely be back. 😊😊😊

Been for the first time today for Sunday lunch after a bit of a mix up with the time we booked was shown to a table no problem Two of us had the lamb and one the beef absolutely delicious though when we go again will have the smaller portion as massive portions felt really wasteful but couldn’t manage it all though had a doggy bag for the dog so winner for him Will definitely return

Sunday roast was as good as always. Huge plate of 3 or 4 large slices of meat, few roasties, mash and plenty of veg. Extra boat of gravy is always welcomed. All for £13 is crazy in this day and age. 100% recommend

Been several times and the homemade beef mince pie, chips and peas, with lots of gravy is superb. Washed down with several pints of Stones. Ok, it could do with a bit of a makeover inside but it's a decent pub, good grub and well kept beers. Thank you.

Went with a friend who has given a more positive review. Food was really good and excellent value at £7 for chicken curry and chips. But ambience was dreadful - uncomfortable chairs crammed together. Shabby paintwork and decoration. Reasonable, but not friendly, service. Whole place looked run down. Good value if you want a cheap pub lunch - and not much more!

I surprised my parents on there diamond wedding anniversary with a lovely afternoon meal..the food was excellent..the staff so friendly & helpful..I would definitely recommend this pub & will certainly be coming again..thanks for such a great experience 😀 👍

We popped in for light lunch after remembering a prior visit for a drink when last in the area a year ago. Settled at the table we each chose the tuna melt sandwich with a shared portion of chips. When the food arrived we were both surprised by the generous portion size only just managed to eat it all. Not a complaint just a fact. Together with two bottled beers each our bill came to a very acceptable £25.65. No wonder that despite it being a midweek lunchtime in a slightly isolated position it was quite a busy place. Well done!

I booked the previous day for Monday lunch time.. Three things then went wrong. First they couldn't find our booking, second they sat as they wrong table and third we had to wait for half an hour before the food arrived. Then we sort of realised why when a very large party arrived, a wake I think. Perhaps they had been preparing for them which is why they seemed preoccupied. It meant the experience was much less pleasant than it should have been and vastly different from the last time I was there. Having said that the pluses, a great view, cheap prices and good quality food where still present, hence the four star review.

This pub is so lovely and the food is amazing. It is much better to book to avoid disappointment. We went on a Monday evening, usually quiet but it was not this time. However the menu was still available and the roast on a Monday night is the best meal ever. Very reasonable prices too. Staff are great. Now they were very apologetic about the wait but really it was not too bad only about a 35 minute wait and we were warned. It is home made food so worth the wait for its quality. We had complimentary desserts as they were not happy that we waited for our mains. We were not expecting this, so very appreciated. Car park is very welcomed too. We visit once a year as we are not local, I look forward to our evening there. Well done Rivelin!

Good location, had a nice launch

We had a Sunday roast dinner on the 27th August ,it was absolutely disgusting!!! Presentation was disgusting aswell, not coming back, nice friendly pub sham about the dinner!!!

This place is out absolute favourite and local to us, and no matter any other pubs we try, it never matches up. Food is excellent and homemade and consistently good and very good portions! Outside space is great with beautiful views and the staff are great 👍

Popped in for lunch with a group of walkers. Good job we'd booked a table as Wednesday lunchtime was very popular. Simple no frills menu. Good coffee and choice of food and efficient young staff.

Been going in this pub for many years and always enjoyed ourselves. However, the pub has changed beyond recognition and not necessarily for the best. You only have to walk through the door and some snotty woman jumps down your throat asking if you have a table booked. When you explain no and before you get any further you’re told that there’s no tables and they’re fully booked for the rest of the day. When you only wanted a drink and maybe something to eat if there is by any chance a table, it totally puts you off going in again. This has happened on multiple occasions and different people have said the same thing. Was willing to give them a second chance but unfortunately they still have the same stuck up cow on the door so money spends anywhere.

Called in for a pint over the weekend whilst on a local walk, always known it's there but first time we've been in. A selection of local Bradfield brewery beers and the usual mainstream brands. Food smelled delicious and the menu looked tempting but maybe next time for some food. It always looks busy so can only imagine food will be good as it's not actually on a main road but visible from Rivelin valley road.

Obviously a popular place but our second visit here (we booked this time) still meant we had to wait 40 minutes TO ORDER. I say 40 minutes - that's when we left. This was the same experience 6 months ago so sadly we won't be back. I am sure our experience was unfortunately unique

Great value and tasty food, with great views .

Just had a lovely meal with my partner and son. I had the steak which was cooked really well and the portion size was brilliant. My partner had the zinger burger and again it was tasty and a really good size. I was really impressed with the sauce I got with my steak and the fact it wasn't in a measly pot which you tend to get in pubs. Both food a drinks reasonably priced, service fantastic and a beautiful view to top it off. We will definitely be back soon.

We were a group of 6 adults, 7 children and 1 dog hoping to find space for us to sit outside for some late lunch. The food was excellent and the children had a whale of a time in the play area. Really recommend for families, the service was great despite us having to wait a little while to be able to order our food. Couldn’t argue as we hadn’t booked. Thank you!

This pub / hotel is just beautifully located on the side of Rivelin valley, and I got there on a perfect summer evening. Also, they have Bradfield ales on tap, and live football on screens, so I was very, very satisfied.

Enjoyed three meals at lunchtime. All were excellent value and very tasty. There's a new extension I hadn't seen inside as my last visit was during pre Covid times. The place is clean and well organised with pleasant staff. We will return soon.

Great food, service and location. Booked for 8 and two dogs at fairly short notice with no issues. We turned up a bit early and our table was ready. Lots of choice, brilliant value, 2 meals for £14. No complaints, everyone enjoyed their food. From Fish & Chips, to Scampi, to burgers to pasta and Curry we were all happy. We were well looked after and would come back again. Beautiful setting, near Rivelin Valley,, great way to spend a Saturday, beautiful walk and a great pub lunch. Highly recommend.

Half way through a long walk through the Rivelin Valley this is our refreshment stop. Friendly staff, great ales and relaxing atmosphere. Occasionally we have food and it always spot on, most times exceeding expectations. We've been coming here for years and will continue to do so. ♥

Decided to try The Rivelin again after a few months of absence . As usual we received a warm welcome and good service . I ordered the Fish and chips which were very tasty, the large piece of cod loin was perfect . My husband ordered his favourite the steak in ale pie. Halfway through eating it he unfortunately had to discard a large muscle/vein embedded in the meat.looking at the meat closely we decided is was rather pale and certainly not the quality previously experienced on this meal. When asked if everything was ok we did point out the muscle and the young man did say he would take it to the kitchen to show them. We paid the bill in full but disappointed that a little more verbal effort wasn’t made by way of it being looked at further and an apology.
