The Old Crown Inn in Sheffield

Booked this place for a friend visiting for the night. He joined my wife and I for our dinner in the pub and we ate the most amazing Home Made Meat & Potato Pie fresh from the oven with fresh vegetables at an unbelievable price £8.95 for a massive plate. Our friend said his en-suite room was clean and comfortable, he slept like a baby. The staff were very helpful and he thought the locals were very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended

Bunch of scumbags that have cowboys running the carpark. I shall never visit again after the CCJ threat. Owners need to take the carpark back and give their head a shake!!

The room was a good price and quite nice. Small but sufficient car park, free for patrons that register at the bar. Unfortunately due to the alarm panel going off from 1am to 7.30am meant that my partner did not get any sleep, in which case we may as well have driven home after our gig. I tried resetting the panel as well as a second panel I saw, but I did not have access to the correct code. The guest entrance code did not work and the code written on the second box didn't work. We tried to make contact with the inn after our stay but had no response, so it's unlikely they have done anything about this to prevent it happening in the future, therefore if you're a light sleeper it may be a gamble as to whether or not you get any sleep. It's a shame as everything else such as the beer and room quality was so good we would have considered staying again

Beautiful home cooked food, really lovely staff. Has a great atmosphere. Outdoor seating area which is perfect for when it's warm out.

Stayed for one and moved on. Dreadful tinny disco started with no bottom end to sound. Nice mix of customers. Shame, it's a nice pub and could be so much better.

We stayed here for a wedding near by. We are so happy we chose The Old Crown. The staff were incredibly helpful! The two ladies even helped me in my dress and when I say helped I mean they didn’t give up and wouldn’t let me give up! It was an effort. Honestly went above and beyond, in fact everyone we met were so friendly and happy. Can’t wait to come back. Thank you so much from both of us :)

I've stayed at the Old Crown a couple if times and recommend. Comfortable rooms, plenty of hot water, tea and coffee too. Standard pub food but good quality, big portions and not expensive. Nice friendly bar, cheap beer, plenty to chose from. Always seems busy with mixed crowd. Everyone happy to chat which is nice if you are travelling alone.

My friends 90 year old father had visited this pub on two separate occasions within a week to eat. He hadn’t realised (and wasn’t asked) that you have to give your car registration over the bar if using the car park. Consequently he was fined £60 for each visit! I really hope you’re proud of yourselves.

Great little pub run by a great landlady also serves excellent food at good prices. They have entertainment on a Saturday night so can get quite busy with a mix of young and old.

Excellent value meals. Friendly staff and decent real ale offering.

Stayed overnight after travelling fo a funeral. Rooms were ok and everything provided. Selection of snacks provided at the wake.

4 of us stayed the night in the bungalow behind the beer garden, the staff were so polite and friendly couldn’t have done anymore for us, the rooms were lovely and modern would 100% recommended and would stay again!

Parking fine given (£60) even though pass given by hotel. Fine sent to home address 10 days later by parking company.

My wife and I stayed here for the first time this weekend and after a long day in Sheffield City centre, we was very very welcoming and polite and friendly staff and Janet the pub Owner and her staff showed us to our room, that was warm and cosy and comfortable with mem foam bed tv and a smart bathroom with shower far better then my own shower. Then what more could you need but a Sunday roast beef dinner with everything. The price was amazing and so was the food. Will certainly be there again soon in the coming weeks.

Stayed for one night booked quite a while ago by telephone and asked for bed and breakfast for 2 was quoted £75.00. Text sent on the day to say we would be arriving about 4pm.There was no reply but none really needed, I thought. When we arrived were met by a really friendly helpful young lady. However, she told us that there would be no breakfast due to staff issues. I somewhat understood but felt I could have been told in case I wanted to find somewhere else instead. Fait accompli really as we had theatre tickets for 7.00. Was told the room was £65.00. Room was clean and adequate. Bed comfortable. So no real issue other than the breakfast scenario. Shame.

Lovely four day stay in large on suite twin. Staff can't do enough for you and eveningeals.in the pub are excellent home cooked generous and delicious. Thank you.

Some staff were saying inappropriate things about customers (people in the party we were with) directly behind us. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but please keep it to yourself until there are no customers around or address the issue directly please.

I stayed for 3 nights & knew when I first walked in It was a friendly place. There was a bit of noise in the evening but never worried me. If you want a quiet time stay in a country hotel. I can recommend it as they were all very friendly. The food was very good & the rooms were clean.

Very friendly helpful welcome. The room was cosy, had everything you need. The bed was really comfey. What a great Saturday night.

Cracking traditional pub with some funny locals

It was roughly 4 months ago I stayed here for 4 nights, I had couple of beers with my mate and I left my bag at the pub carelessly, the lady at the reception was very nice, she gave it back to me on the next day morning.

Had a 2 night stay here and it was brilliant. The room was lovely and spotless, the breakfast was fabulous, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, full English breakfast cooked fresh and red hot, toast and preserves, fresh orange and unlimited tea or coffee. We were made most welcome by the Landlady Janet and all the staff especially Katrina, and on another plus note, we only had to nip downstairs for a pint or 4 and didn’t have far to stagger to go to bed. First time there was a great time with everyone there!

Comfortable bed, clean and spacious room and the shared bathroom was clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful, the only downside was the unexpected loud music from downstairs that went on until 1.30am

Young girl on check-in offered to help with bags which was nice. However loud music until 1.20am disturbed sleep in rooms above. Unsure if extended licensing hours or a lock in but need to let guests know beforehand if this is normal.

My type of local pub, friendly staff serving good beer with a welcoming atmosphere. Rooms are great value and although I did not have Sunday lunch it certainly looked and smelt appetising. Will be back.

The standard was as good and sometimes better than a hotel.

Lovely rooms, very clean but so so loud at night you cannot sleep, not a good place to stay if you have a family or need your sleep.

Don't sit in a regulars seat or they will be a riot

A triple bed room in an 'Inn' that doesn't serve food after 7pm (or breakfast), that has no en-suite facilities and beds that are a good ten years past their sell by date. A terrible night's sleep on the most uncomfortable beds we've used and one that was so bad we walked out after just 1 night's stay and are now staying at a PremierInn. The shared bathroom,15 meters away from our room, was supposedly only to be used by us but another guest used it - evidenced by the scummy bristles he left in the sink after shaving. That wasn't the Inn's fault but why then tell us we had exclusive use of the bathroom facility? To describe this place as fabulous is misleading at best and fraudulent at worst. Not recommended at all for anything.

I had an overnight stay at The Old Crown as I was working in the area. From the time that I checked in to the time that I checked out, I was looked after really well. The young lady behind the bar showed me up to my room, which was a decent size, very clean and had all the amenities that you need. The bed was also very comfortable. The evening meal was very good value for money. I like real ale and there were 4 to choose from. The lad behind the bar was very friendly, gave me samples of the ale to try and also gave me a bit of background to the breweries. There was a jam night for local musicians which kept me entertained for a couple of hours. The following morning I had a wonderful breakfast which was made by a very friendly lady who made sure that I had everything that I needed. This pub is a really good place to stay with very friendly staff and locals. If I am working in the Sheffield area again, this is definitely where I will be staying.

Family atmosphere very friendly staff

Needed somewhere close to City road Cemetery and did not care to travel into the city for the usual impersonal box and found this which as it was weekday it had no late night music, we stayed just one night but the staff went out of their way to be helpful and pleasant, especially Steve. In the evening we had a homemade traditional meat and tatty pie with everything including local relish and home made mushy peas. In the morning cereals, full English breakfast, and fresh fruit brought that morning. The room was fine with on-suit and good shower. Handy having a car park as well.

Enjoyed the afternoon meal recommend it.
