Last night my wife and I had one of the best fillet steaks we have ever tasted at the Brocco, the texture and taste of everything on the plate was divine. Well done Chef ! To make it even better the meal and all the drinks were very reasonably priced for a restaurant. Big shout out for the staff all of them so friendly and professional, attentive without being in your space Alll in All a fantastic dining experience definitely worth a visit, we will be returning soon

We visited as a family of 5 for Sunday lunch. Staff were fantastic and the lunch was a massive hit with everyone. Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes all cooked to perfection and the beef was so tasty. The setting is very classy. Spotless tables and very clean in all areas. Everyone left a clean plate and we will all be back. Go and try it out!!

Went for Sunday lunch, we had the sharing platter and it was amazing. The cheese fondu is a game changer. The meat and vegetables were cooked just the way I like them. The service was friendly and quick although not very busy. We did not stay in the hotel but from what I saw it looks lovely. The restaurant was clean as were the toilets, so if the rest of the rooms are finished to the same standard then I would love to stay.

Really sad to see this place empty on a Saturday night 😞 We went here for our wedding anniversary 3 years ago and struggled to get a table. Tonight it was empty and the menu was reduced to 3 items and a bit boring. 🥱

Stayed here several times over the years and it was great but it has recently gone downhill with no hot water while we were there for 3 nights, which seems to have gone on intermittently for 2 months. We were only offered a 25% discount and I had to ask for a discount on our breakfasts as still not fixed despite promises when we left. Not sure about staying again sadly.

I’m so glad I didn’t let the last review sway me away. I paid £21 for the Duck main dish- it was the TASTIEST duck I have ever had in my life (I’m 50 😂 and love Duck dishes). The desserts are all £9.50, but worth the treat. So full of flavour and savoured every mouthful. We were the only customers there and felt sorry that the place wasn’t buzzing. £90 for 2 people for a main, dessert and a bottle of wine here was worth the treat. If people knew the food was so delicious, they’d be here!!! Please keep this up. We’ll be back. Thank you.

Ok. Went as a group as we had a voucher to use. Honestly I can’t describe how bad this place is. We had attendees 2 years ago and it was amazing. Now it isn’t. If you have a booking please cancel it and go elsewhere. The place was empty on a Friday night which tells you something. The waiting staff were poor in fact not sure they had done the job before this meal. No communication, unable to clear glasses, unable to offer a wine list, not sure which menu was available. The eventual menu was limited and not why we had booked to go back. Small Plates is the menu we wanted and had booked. However when I ordered the Steak, I was told that the chef only makes it Medium Rare and there was no other option. There is no ‘The customer is always right’ here. It is like Putins Russia, you will have it MY WAY and that’s it. Also like Putins Russia when it arrived it was undercooked and underprepared. Chips were few. Also there is no way of ordering any extras. No extra chips or veg or anything as it doesn’t come on any menu. Are you getting the idea yet? The waiting staff were clearly annoyed and showed it, how disrespectful to customers is that. I even had to say ‘I hope our food doesn’t come tainted due to how poor it is in here’. Roll of the eyes and storming off of the waitress. Anyway eventually the main meal ended and was offered very expensive desserts which were very small and unappetising. What on earth has happened to this place. Awful. It was literally laughably bad all round. Empty restaurant and unlikely to be full when the staff and food is so so bad. Horrendous. Wish I had had a packet of crisps at home, they would have been better and they come in a range of flavours. Do yourself a favour and cancel your booking now. You will thank me later.

Last evening we dined at Brocco Kitchen. What a beautiful experience. We are greeted and seated by Christian upon arrival. He introduced Brocco Kitchen ethos and how our dinner would be introduced to us. As we could not decide, Tom, head chef took some time from the kitchen to speak with us about his menu and we were comfortable for him to select each of our plates. Every plate that Tom prepared was well considered, visually stunning, but the flavours were at an even higher level. We started with house baked squid ink bread that was paired with Tom’s Henderson’s relish butter adaptation. If this was our whole meal, we would have been happy. From here, we enjoyed a succession of shared small plates. Scallops started us off, followed by cauliflower, then we enjoyed duck and beef. Each plate was a journey for our mouth and soul. My wife loved her raspberry creme brûlée to round out her dinner. As each plate arrived, Christian made wonderful wine pairing recommendations to complement our meals. All allowing us to soak up the atmosphere, flavours for an immersive experience. If you are looking for a ‘cheap and cheerful’ dinner, do not visit Brocco Kitchen. Go somewhere else. If you want the best service and food experience in Sheffield, you have to dine at Brocco Kitchen.

We stayed at the hotel over the Sheffield Half Marathon weekend at the start of April. We were told on the way up to our stay that there was a problem with the hot water and offered the option to cancel or to have a 25% reduction in the room price. We were given the impression that the water was in the process of being fixed. However, over the whole weekend we were given evasive answers about whether a plumber had been and what the problem was. We ended up having no hot water at all in our room for 2 nights. Online reviews suggest that this is an ongoing issue that the hotel has been dealing with since the start of March. We are disappointed that this was not made clear. When you book a beautiful room (and they are) with a roll top bath and a monsoon shower, to have no opportunity to enjoy these would seem to warrant more than a 25% discount on the room rate. We tried to resolve the matter directly with the hotel but have received no reply - not even an explanation or an apology. We had stayed in this hotel before, prior to it being taken over by the current owners. Unfortunately we feel that the quality of service has decreased. We also felt that the small plates offer in the restaurant was overpriced and limited in variety - particularly for vegetarians. They take the idea of small plates to the extreme - the portions were miniscule. Overall we were disappointed with our stay this time.

Visited at the weekend for a large private birthday party with exclusive use of the dining area and outside. Arrived for welcome drinks which had been paid for in advance, then sat down for £65 a head meal where again some bottles of Prosecco had been paid for in advance. The problem was that we had no idea when the prepaid alcohol ran out and the staff were very keen to continually come round and fill your glasses up. Many rounds of drinks were also bought and paid for during the course of the evening. It therefore came as a huge shock to us all to receive a bill for over £600 for the drinks and not only could they not itemise it they couldn’t say which table had had which drinks. The food served up for £65 was totally underwhelming and the menu description of it all totally misleading eg salmon with couscous was a tiny piece of salmon with a tiny bit of couscous sprinkled on top of it. As a vegetarian all I was able to eat was a tomato salad , a bowl of fried kale, some cubed potatoes and an asparagus & boiled egg salad , all shared between 8 of us. Lucky if it was worth £20, never mind £65! Will never go back again

We hired the whole restaurant for about 25 people for a birthday celebration. We paid £65 per head for the food and were still hungry at the end of the meal. The portions were tiny and the standard of food mediocre. ‘Salmon with cous cous’ was a small square of salmon with a few grains of cous cous sprinkled on top. We had one vegetarian who got some tomatoes, fried kale and a nicoise salad for her £65. Desert was a piece of green cake and some Eaton mess. The promised cheeseboard never arrived. But the part that left a very bitter taste in our mouth was the drinks bill at the end. They came up with a random (and outrageous) amount and could not justify it, no tally of what each table was drinking and couldn’t produce an itemised bill. An example of customer service at its very worst in trying to deal with our questioning of how they came up with the amount. We paid it as we didn’t want to upset the birthday celebrations but we feel the whole experience was just a money making exercise, the food was poor and the manager just could not care less.

The small bar area cum hotel reception had a lovely ambience and the restaurant itself was well designed with pleasant lighting. The service was excellent, though I don’t know how the one waitress cum hotel receptionist would have managed with more than the five diners. As it was she had to check in several disgruntled residents and manage informing them that the boiler was broken (again) and there was no hot water in the ‘rooms’. She was very pleasant and friendly - a real asset and is the reason we haven’t rated this as ‘poor’. The wine by the glass was reasonably priced. The nibbles were good: the focaccia bread was good and ample - it needed to be, given the size of the small plates. We were advised to order 2 to 3 small plates and sides. The food was neatly presented and ok, but nowhere near good enough to justify the prices and the Michelin listing. The prices were probably around a third higher than justified by the market, quality and quantity.

I have not provided a room rating as I never saw the rooms. I arrived into Sheffield early and after waiting 10 minutes to speak to anyone at reception when I asked if I could pay to check in early and shower (I'd arrived from Australia). was given a flat no, without them even checking. They said to find a leisure centre, and when I asked if they had recommendations they also said no. When I arrived back at 7 in the evening after waiting 10 minutes again they asked if I was aware of "the issue with the hot water". The boiler had broken, and there was no hot water, which they had not shared in the morning. For this inconvenience they offered a 25% discount, and tried to say the room was not cancellable. Needless to say I took my things and went elsewhere. I understand that things happen and early check in cannot always be accommodated but the poor service in the face of difficulties was really disappointing and left a poor first impression of what is actually a friendly and helpful city

Came with a huge hen party on Saturday . Sat down and food started to come out . Seemed to be a mad hatter theme . Cakes came out first . Multi coloured stale cakes with sweets and toffees on . This was followed by a basket of green scones with purple icing . Then came the fish and chips in the same basket of club sandwiches . There was about 8 huge chips in each basket for 8 people . So about 1 each . Staff stood at the bar whilst one person running around serving us . Asked for vegetarian sandwiches . Got half a slice of bread with tomatoe lettuce and cheese slice . Inedible food . Ruined our whole experience . Odd mix of food .soup was full of salt !! Worse thing was we kept asking for drinks . Eventually got served some tea right at the end just before we were leaving . The price they charge is extortionate for what they deliver . Staff could be more attentive we just felt ignored the whole time . What a shame because I came here a few years ago and it wasn’t too bad . Didn’t want to ruin the hens evening by saying something . We were disapointed with the standard of service and complications to our booking when we came for my sisters birthday. Despite bookings being made for Vegan afternoon tea, and us being the only clients in the venue until the end of our meal, our birthday party was not catered for correctly. More complications followed with payments and refunds - we were even being asked to show bank statements to prove deposits had been taken, as staff hadn't noted this down. This all meant that our visit was not to the standard we had expected. We were imediately asked at the start of our visit to post and tag our photos on instagram - I wont be doing this after how were were treated.

Unfortunately another restaurant that advertises five star services and products and delivers only one star! Extremely limited GF options in incredibly tiny writing. Waitress was seemingly disinterested in my asking about their gf options and telling her my allergy. After this I decided that I would go with a salad, safer, and asked for one. She said that their salad nicoise was a salad so I ordered that at £22.95!! When it arrived it was at best a cereal bowls worth of food in the middle of a larger bowl. The rocket was hot and HEAVILY oiled and soggy. There was some over cooked broccoli in there too. The salmon was very small and very very fatty with some kind of cooking oil. The boiled egg was cold. The whole plate was very unappetising and I didn't eat it. I told them this was not what I had expected when ordering a salad, I hadn't eaten it at all... they still demanded that I pay telling me that is how they serve salad. NOT returning. Amazing food to really tease your palate. Food should be exciting and here it is. You have the Chefs plating up on the pass in front of you and you can see the care, attention, love and passion they have whilst doing it. We had many small plates but the star of the show for me would be the scallop dish. As a Chef myself it's very rare we get to fully enjoy food as we are constantly thinking what we could change and bring to the dish itself however this made me grin from ear to ear. Toffee and scallops?!?! Who would have thought it?! An amazing beautiful experience. In a way I fell back in love with food by just one bite. I'm very thankful for Brocco, Tom and his Chefs to give me that experience. This is a must to visit. Yes its expensive but when you not only have a taste sensation but an EXPERIENCE also... to me that's priceless. Thankyou so much to all of you also the bartender made my partner a delicious off menu cocktail which she greatly enjoyed. You all went above and beyond and made my partners birthday one to remember. Disappointing as of late, arrived and the focus was on the table of 13 outside near the fireplace. The people sat in 3s or 4s inside the main dining room were left waiting for the large party outside to be seen to first. I ordered the mushroom with cheese on toast as a starter on Sunday 7/01/2024, and was not told that there were no eggs, until I asked where the main ingredient was, and was informed last minute. The beef was undercooked, but all in all tasted ok. It just felt like they were rushing and short on staff, not really in control or giving us that usual 5/5 experience.

My partner and I make a hobby out of visiting restaurants and reviewing them. We usually email before hand and then share our thoughts with the restaurant however we thought we’d take a different approach this time! Brocco has been on our list for quite some time and after seeing their recent social media posts announcing a new chef and sharing photos of their new menu, we felt it was time for us to book in. We were greeted by a lovely young man at the door who showed us to our table. We must say the decor was stunning! The dark ambiance and jazz music really set the tone. The evening menu is a “small plates menu” the waiter explained that the structure is somewhat like tapas and our food would arrive as and when it is ready. An interesting move as the menu by no means belongs in the “tapas” category. The menu consists of some very interesting flavours, Duck with liquorice and Scallops with toffee to name a few. Upon recommendation, we ordered 3 plates each and a side of potatoes to share. The kitchen can be seen from the restaurant and we were sat within earshot of it, as chefs received our order we heard what looked to be the head chef saying “let’s give them an experience please lads” as he asked for our food to be put into a specific order. Our first plates arrived quickly, the Scallops & toffee and Mackerel. The presentation can only be described as precise as there was not a thing out of place on either plate. The scallops even had a little weave of sugar on the plate which looked amazing! The rest of our food arrived in two’s also. The Mushroom Risotto & Pear were followed by the Duck & Venison, all immaculate on their plates. We struggled to find any fault with the food at all (not that it’s our intention to) The combinations on each plate were excellent! We managed desert too. The Chocolate Fondant & Bread & Butter Pudding with Espresso martini. It’s fair to say that the waiting staff are highly experienced on good service and well briefed on the menu. As the waiter placed the Bread & Butter Pudding down he told us that the chef recommends that we take a sip of the martini and then a bite of the pudding for the best combination with this dish. He wasn’t wrong! Overall our visit to Brocco was way beyond what we expected. The waiting staff were excellent and the food was a true experience for us. The only downside for us would be the limited parking however please do not let this put you off!

I understand nibbles as being something to accompany a pre-dinner drink, but we were lucky to get them before we'd finished the drink. The waitress explained that we should order 2 or 3 small plates each and asked us if we minded if the plates came out as and when they were ready. Not quite understanding what this meant and not wanting to rock the boat, we replied that we didn't mind. THIS WAS A MAJOR ERROR. She also said we could share the small plates, but none of us wanted the same thing and, anyway, to our minds the idea of SMALL plates isn't very compatible with the idea of sharing. We ended up ordering 2 small plates each with potatoes as a side. My husband was served both his small plates long before my son or myself were served anything and long before he was served his potatoes on the side. It really spoils the pleasure of going to a restaurant, and quite an expensive one at that, if each person has to sit and watch the others eat. It certainly makes life a lot easier for the chef as they don't have to bother with the complication of getting all the meals on the table at the same time. Only the desserts arrived simultaneously, probably because they all came straight out of the fridge. The restaurant didn't charge us for the side potatoes, as they were more afters than on the side, but that didn't compensate for a dining experience that was completely spoilt by the fact that we all ate on our own. Now that our son has finished his studies in Sheffield, it's unlikely we'll ever go back there, and we will certainly never ever return to this restaurant.

Booked for Sunday lunch. Waited 30 mins to be asked our food/drink order, and it was near 90 minutes before we were served our food (x3 roast dinners). Service was very lacklustre with little apology for the incredibly long wait, despite them not being that busy (most of the staff were chatting with one another). Food was nice but not worth the very long wait. We arrived at 12:50pm and didn't leave until almost 3pm despite only having one course.

Eaten here on a number of occasions now both for large events, Sunday lunch & afternoon tea. All visits the service was excellent, special dietary needs catered for & food delicious. We've never been disappointed. Easy to see why it's so popular. Small car park on site but also road side parking available just a couple of minutes walk on sharrow vale road.

We attended as a party of 20+ for a baby shower. I don’t live in Sheffield and when I arrived I thought how lovely the place is, perfect location and beautiful set up. Unfortunately it all went down hill from there. We arrived early and waited a long time for drinks whilst the staff were in the car park smoking and not taking orders. When we did get drinks, basic things (like a glass for the beer) were missed. Which for the inflated prices we would expect. There were numerous issues with whilst we were there, from no tea spoons in the building for the afternoon tea to getting the tea after the food was finished. However my biggest concerns is the absolute lack of consideration for allergies. I emailed my allergies over prior to the visit and it was not catered for at all. 16 finger sandwiches were provided for our table of 11 which is inadequate at £27.50 per person, however there was nothing bought out separately to meet my requirements. I raised this separately and was told there would be more sandwiches. I waited a further 20 minutes (and everything to be bought out) and raised again. Eventually finger sandwiches bought out filled with mushrooms or fried peppers. I am not a vegetarian and was not asked if I was (I had only advised I could not eat cured meat). I advised at that point I would not pay for the service as did not want mushroom sandwiches as my lunch. I was challenged by the chef who was the on site manager at the time about the standard of the sandwiches which was beyond the point, £27.50 for mushroom sandwiches and horrendous service is silly. It was 25 degree plus and we were not offered any water, again family members had to go to the bar to get this and none of the jugs were replenished. Two heavily pregnant ladies were in our group. Upon advising we did not want to pay for my meal due to the dietary requirements not been met, I was shown the booking laptop where by the chef went on to explain to me that they had 100 people for breakfast that day, another large party in the afternoon and a private dining for 70 people in the evening and therefore they were so busy. I was shocked that at £27.50 per person, for such a special event like a baby shower, I was having to listen to the excuse of “well we are busy” as to the lacking service, complete ignorance of ALL dietary requirements in our party (one being a severe nut allergy) and general disregard for service. We have since had a partial refund a week later for the rest of the party but I just would not recommend this place to anyone unfortunately.

I have stayed here myself for a special occasion, and it was wonderful. However my review this time is of the wonderful wedding I photographed in May 2023 at Brocco on the Park. The couple hosted their wedding reception here and it was fabulous from start to finish. The staff were incredibly welcoming, and the space was perfect for an intimate wedding reception. The food was incredible, and I was well looked after. (You know the staff are genuinely caring when they look out for wedding suppliers and not just the guests!) Myself and some of the other guests had different dietary needs and these were all met really well, with staff knowledgeable about allergies. The vegan options were delicious! The couple had a live singer on the terrace which was perfect for the space, and had really relaxed vibes. I've attached some photos of the day. Really looking forward to coming back soon! Frightening and traumatic experience: When I got back to Brocco on the Park, at 1.30am, sober, after attending a 50th (the reason for my stay) the door was locked. No one answered the phone, nor my knocking at the door, or the doorbell. After many panicked attempts, including calling my husband and waking him up to ask for help, I called my friends whose party it was and got a cab across town to sleep on their sofa. I had very little sleep. At least I had somewhere to go. The hotel had a night porter, but he must have been sleeping on the job. Also they were supposed to give me a code for the door, which they did not do. I was cold, tired and afraid to be stranded on my own in the middle of the night. My essential medications along with the rest of my carefully packed belongings were in the room.

Said to waitress at time - think likely having a bad day as my wife has had much better meal there before. Bread described as sourdough didn't appear to be, was nice however. Main issue was 3 fairly expensive meat/fish dishes all average to poor quality. Squid described as charred was deep fried and lacked any seasoning or flavour on a pretty nice squid ink risotto. Korean chicken major let down lack seasoning and crunch and any moisture. Pigs cheek was small, covered in a gravy which felt somewhat like a school gravy with a large slice of tasty black pudding and nicely charred cabbage. Big plus was the two vegetable dishes in hisby cabbage and broccoli were flavoursome, well cooked and tasty. Truffle popcorn was very original and tasty if a little stale. Disappointed especially as not cheap and wife's birthday but hopefully an off day.

Although we didn't have chance to use the on site michelin star restaurant (which looked lovely) the hotel side was near perfect! Greeted by friendly staff, with complimentary bubbles on arrival, an honesty bar at reception for drinks in the rooms, home made treat, and near spotless, lovely decorated rooms. The in room fridge had a glass front, which meant the light was shining all night which was my only annoyance, in hindsight I suppose I could of covered it easily enough. Easy access coming to Sheffield and for city centre. I would definitely go back.

I came here for breakfast on a quiet Thursday morning. Although it wasn't busy, the staff were very attentive and friendly. My choice was 'The Hunter', a traditional English breakfast. It is clear that the ingredients were well-sourced, which made for a tasty meal. Beautiful decor and clean facilities. Staff who took our drink orders were friendly. Disappointed with the food, we predordered and it still took a long time to arrive. We could see the food waiting on the pass for a long time before it was brought over, a few of the party sent theirs back as it was cold. The others ate theirs because they were hungry, but none of it was piping hot. We were given a discount for this however. Coffee was OK. Had better for less elsewhere unfortunately.

If you’re going to book Tapton Hall for an occasion DO NOT have their DJ. We went to a 60th wedding anniversary and the DJ decided he wasn’t playing any music we asked for. We’re talking a 60th wedding anniversary so you’d expect Beatles, Stones Motown well we got none of that, just the rubbish HE wanted to play..he did play about 4 seconds of a requested Drifters song and as soon as we all got up …he turned it off and said ‘ I’ll play that later’, so we all sat down . This DJ was being paid a good amount for his services and he was rubbish. You’d think that when he’d got people on the dance floor he’d stick to that type of music because everybody was enjoying it…not this DJ he’d empty the floor with music from such as S club 7 whatever they’re called and this was for an audience of people 70+ years old and what’s more important the customer who was paying him. In fact at one point the person who was employing him asked for some Bob Marley..you’d think he’d play a few reggae songs get everyone up.. no chance. ONE song not even by Bob Marley and that was it..then back to his rubbish. I tell you we went to a do at Beauchief golf club in February and the DJ they had..(don’t know his name) was brilliant. He played what his audience asked for and got a feel for his audience and had us up dancing all night. So if you’re having a ‘do’ at Tapton Hall get another DJ and not the one they recommend…forewarned is forearmed .
