New to Ranmoor and wanted to try a local restaurant to me. Entered by the bar which, to be fair, is fairy uninspiring and normally wouldn’t tempt me to stay but once up the stairs it is like entering a hidden gem. Service was relaxed and inviting, blind tasting menu delighted with every course, and wine (we had a bottle not the flight) was perfect. Only down side was no a/c or windows that could be opened and it was very hot & humid so that really needs to be addressed as it was evident most patrons were melting !

Incredible evening which we were gifted by friends as a wedding present. Can only highly recommend to anyone thinking of going. Already planning our next visit.

Really enjoyed the 7 course tasting menu tonight. It was more like 10 courses really. It was exquisitly tasty without being pretentious. The accompanying wine flight was delicious and interesting. We will be back.

Just been to West 10 for our anniversary meal and it was amazing from the warm welcome to excellent service and food to die for an outstanding culinary experience thank you.

The other night was our anniversary and we could think of no better place to celebrate than with a meal at West10. This was the third time we’ve eaten there and we once again enjoyed the blind tasting menu which keeps evolving and improving. Chef Scott Philliskirk never disappoints always managing to dream up new dishes to excite the diner. No easy thing with seven courses with two signature snacks on offer. Cooked with the finest ingredients and delivering flavour profiles that send your palate to the stars and back, Scott’s menu is a must for anyone who loves their food in the Sheffield area. It would be a crime not to mention the black garlic butter that accompanies the complimentary bread. It’s was so rich and unctuous I had to ask for a second helping knowing that once I’d left I’d probably never get to experience it again. But a great restaurant doesn’t just rest on the shoulders of a chef, the sommelier Lucy managed to find us a truly beautiful bottle of Grenache that expertly accompanied the meal. Our waitress Ciara also displayed a wonderful understanding of the diverse dishes explaining the background of some of the more rare and exotic ingredients. We can safely say West10 still maintains its mantle as our favourite food spot in Sheffield. If you want to experience Michelin quality dining at a fraction of the price then it’s definitely the place for you. I predict stars in Scott’s future.

Needless to say, the food was exceptional, and the staff, including the chef, were incredibly accommodating, even though we didn't properly notify them of our dietary restrictions.

We came here for the lunch time taster menu in March whilst it was £15. It was amazing. Every course was delicious and worth every penny. The staff were very friendly as well. We would happily come back and pay the usual £25 for this.

Some of the most amazing food and is the best dining experience in Sheffield. The courses are perfectly thought out and each and every one taste brilliant. Have to complement the service - so knowledgeable about both the food and wine and they were very attentive. Will definitely be coming back for the new monthly menu :)

The blind tasting menu is so delicious. Every course was made with such detail and the flavours were outstanding. Each course was delivered with expertise from waitres who explained all ingredients. This is a must try, great to have such a hidden gem in the area.

We visited West10 to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it exceeded all expectations! Always a great night at West 10… friendly staff, great selection of wine. Cocktails look great too although only tried a couple. The tasting menu is a brilliant experience, flavours are amazing. Reasonably priced for what you get and you leave feeling full! The outdoor area at the front is a great place to catch up with friends.

Quiet and relaxing bar. Has a lovely little terrace which is great on a warm spring or summer evening. Very popular with a pretty upmarket clientele.

Ella le pidió al gerente que le recomendara uno de los dos vinos que ella había seleccionado (pensando que él podría saber más de lo que estaba en el menú) y él procedió a explicarle de manera muy condescendiente de dónde es un Rioja, pero no le dio más información. Estaba claramente muy borracho y cuando trajo nuestro vino, se sentó a la mesa con nosotros (!!) Y bebió un poco de vino con nosotros? !Era incómodo por decir lo menos. Con la esperanza de que la comida pudiera mejorar la situación, nos sentimos profundamente decepcionados por un risotto recocido y sin sabor, entre otros platos mal preparados.

We booked the upstairs private room for my partners 40th and it was all perfect from start to finish. Mollie in particular was brilliant and looked after us all so well, thinking on her feet and keeping me informed all night to make sure everyone enjoyed the night. From the ambience of the room, to the quality and value of the superb meal which many of the guests commented on, we could not have asked for a better experience to celebrate a birthday. Thanks also to Jonnie and the other staff who helped Mollie throughout the evening, you helped make it a truly memorable occasion.

Popped in for one while we were waiting for a cab after having eaten at Rafters down the road, wound up staying for many. Interesting conversations struck up with the locals had us staying until the wee hours, many drinks is later. Topics ranged from free-range chickens to the astronaut program, and pretty much all point in between. A magic night with good fun and lots of laughs.

The portions were quite small and ingredients were limited as some of our party weren't able to get the things they wanted. Say that the wine selection was fairly fecent and staff were friendly and attentive.

Highly over rated bar past its best. Tables and decor all worn and scruffy but still appears to be popular with some well healed locals. Reasonable selection of wine but limited beer options. Not worth a visit.

Nice atmosphere. Wine bar downstairs and quieter restaurant upstairs. Friendly service but quite a wait for food to arrive. Only downside was sitting eating looking at an absolutely filthy freezer in the corner.

This has a lovely atmosphere but can be quite cramped and noisy in the bar area. The seating is not very comfortable and the whole place could do with refurbishing. I have not eaten in the upstairs restaurant. The staff are very friendly and the service very good. There is a huge variety of choice and it is usually very good, with generous portions at reasonable prices but the chef can have his off days and does not seem to notice if he has burnt the food! Perhaps there is too much choice and the answer is to make the menu smaller and concentrate on quality.

Sublime steak, great atmosphere , impeccable service, perfect wine selection, the best wine bar in Sheffield by far definitely worth a visit. Fresh fish selection will be on our wish list for our next visit

This is small restaurant / wine bar in Sheffield. Well worth a visit as the menu is great, really good food at very good value. I'd recommend spending a few minutes on the wine list, some really good choices. Overall a good friendly great value restaurant that I've now visited a number of times as my favourite location in Sheffield.

Came for lunch with family and a friend. Had great food in good portion sizes and at good prices. I hear the food has won awards here at West 10! Very pleased with the inviting atmosphere. Can get busy but just need to bare with the staff as they will always try their best. Overall, great visit!

Table of 8 for dinner. Poor service, appalling 'Ballotine' appetizer in my case and an even worse attempt at cooking a Hake dish x 2. 4 others chose whole 'Fresh' Fish, none thought it to be fresh and all were swimming in some watery liquid. Poor ingredients and even worse execution. Typical Sheffield 'Hotspot' shows the whole lack of quality dining in the country's 4th city.

Can't praise this place highly enough. The food was excellent and all served with a smile and nothing was too much trouble. I had the sole, which was cooked to perfection and was very fresh. The west 10 red house wine is very drinkable but there is an extensive wine list for the more adventurous. After eating was done, the place livened up and we had a thoroughly entertaining evening with friendly customers, staff and owner also. Try the "baby Guinness ", but make sure you don't have to go to work the following day. All in all well worth a visit. Oh and the wife's risotto was just right too.

Lovely place. Lovely menu. I had calamari to start. Nice but a bit cool. Main course of monk fish ordered by both of us was sent back by me and my friend as lukewarm.Returned. Still like warm. New dishes ordered...... let's see

Went on on Friday night as a party of 7. Didn't have my first choice even at 8.30pm!Main course (pork) was the smallest portion I have ever had in a restaurant. Made worse by the fact that all of my fellow diners meals were enormous. I complained about the size of my meal and was offered some chips!! Crackling on the pork looked great but tasted disgusting - sort of an oily burnt taste. Made another comment at the end of the meal but to to be honest they didn't care. Won't return.

Visited as a couple unplanned on the way to a hospital visit.We both had a light bite for main ( seared scallops with pineapple , mango and coconut) amazing presentation and taste! We both had a desert . I had sticky toffee pudding- wow!! Banana accompaniments My partner had doghnuts with three sauce/ dips home made and amazing. Both deserts were wonderful . We will be back and try the larger main course menu. It's a small place with amazing flavours - try it !!

Sat outside in 30 degrees the food choice and quality is excellent. The wine list is also interesting and well above average. Specials on the board, mainly fish which again shows imagination and the main menu for steaks and burgers and the best looking onion rings! Friendly service, this place is a must for semi casual dining.

We visited on a Friday night and had high expectations considering how busy it was and good recommendations we had received. Drinks and food were of a very high standard we found the service to be terrible with a lack of understanding of the menu and they seemed disinterested and like they didn't want to be there.

Lets not beat around the bush. I don’t like West 10 very much.I didn’t like it the first time I visited there some 5 years ago and I still didn’t much care for the experience on my last (yes it will be my last) visit a few weeks back.I appreciate this is a review site and its good to be objective in helping prospective new customers come to their own decision about a local wine bar come restaurant. This doesn’t mean to say I can’t tell you why I didn’t care for it much. Indeed, there seemed to lots of people in the place at the time that apparently did care for it. They cared enough to block the way to the bar, stand in the doorway, mumble unkind words of wisdom as I succeeded in reaching the bar in the only way one does remove thick inanimate objects – by determination and resolve of course.As a wine bar, the décor reminded me not of my 1980’s wine bar experiences with dark tables with wax laden Mateus Rose bottles but of a cross between my Grannies unused conservatory and an Alpine lodge used for weekly meetings of a North European Deer Hunters Club where members wear strange green hats with feathers and slap themselves.Maybe our experience would have been saved if this had been the guest populous but it seemed that the well-heeled and premier league discourteous Sheffielders among us seem to feel this is home from home. I hoped to see people I didn’t like there but even they were too nice to be in the wine bar at this particular time.After sitting at my Grannies Conservatory table for whole minutes, and anticipating a visit from the Stazi at any moment, I ventured bravely to the bar and received a sticky wine list and an expensive bottle of Spanish White wine that tasted like, well it didn’t taste like the sticky description lets say. Oh for that candle dripped medium-sweet frizzante rosé wine produced in Portugal I thought quietly to myself while we walked outside to avoid the stares of the inanimate objects that hampered by bar passage.There once was a wine bar in Nottingham called Browns. This had the opposite atmosphere. Something similar to what you would think Cheers would be like and a place you could be asked to help out behind the bar at busy times (I was). The owners were friendly but the whole place had a receptive and generous demeanor that made you feel as if you would be welcome if you had to count out the price of a glass of Piesporter in 2ps because this is the last money you would ever have.Alas, I don’t get this at West 10. More’s the pity.

As the only vegetarian in a group of 6 friends, I am used to having a limited choice when we go out to dinner. This restaurant had an expansive steak menu and the majority of the specials were fish, with one meat dish (the waitress explained that they were a speciality fish restaurant). I was a little disappointed that there was only one vegetarian main and one vegetarian starter. Also, the vegetarian dish had Parmesam cheese in it, which is never vegetarian (rennet). Other than that grumble, the food was lovely. It was quite expensive - the bill came to £90/couple (with wine).Unfortunately, our relaxing evening was marred by the owner joining a party on the next table. He was extremely loud and spoiled the atmosphere for everyone else.

I visit Sheffield 5/6 times a year to spend time with my daughter and her partner. Last night we spent the evening at Wine bar 10 . The atmosphere was lovely. Upstairs in the restaurant our food from the starters to the desert was stunning all 6 of us chose different and nobody was disappointed , the plates returned to the kitchen empty and our compliments must go to the chef. On returning downstairs the owner and the bar man continued the excellent service we had grown accustomed to upstairs. Just wish you had a twin place in cardiff

This was our second meal at West 10 after a superb first experience there. This time however, the experience was nowhere near as good as the first. We were seated next to a table of 4 where one of the guests seemed incapable of keeping his voice low and consequently that did not do the atmosphere much good. We did have a very nice bottle of proseco. I started with the scallops - 4 of them but unfortunately one of them was very cold on the inside so clearly not cooked properly. The other three were fine - they were smaller so maybe this explains the temperature of the first one. My wife had a mushroom dish which she enjoyed. We then chose the lobster and lamb respectively. The taste of the lobster seemed overly powerful and pungent - somewhat overpowering - not very pleasant. My lamb was very poor, (although the side dish of new potatoes was fabulous). Firstly I was not asked how I wanted it cooked which was unsatisfactory and when it came it was very under-cooked and also very fatty - quite repulsive in some respects - I was certainly unable to eat it. I sent it back and another was prepared for me. This piece was much thinner than the first but was again very fatty and chewy. This was also not fit to eat in my view consequently it was left on my plate. We did not bother with dessert as we still had Foghorn Fred next to us so asked for the bill. The waitress was very apologetic and without asking, the cost of the lamb was removed from the bill which was something at least but it doesn't make the evening any better. We had had a fantastic meal there on our first visit and were really looking forward to eating there again - it was very disappointing.

Fantastic atmosphere, great food and marvelous wines. The bar can be noisy but that gives the place life.The restarant upstairs is cosy so be prepared to sit close to other diners, if you need privacy and peace and quiet this is perhaps not for you.

I intended to say this is the best food & my favourite restaurant of any on the West side of Sheffield.However, I have to agree that some of the comments left by previous reviewers are correct.If you're an evening diner, the walk through a busy, loud bar to the upstairs restaurant can be a bit overpowering.There are two comments I'd like to make;1. it's busy for a reason, & you'll either like or dislike that, &2. regrettably I, on occasion, am one of the noisy customers.Having said that, the food is exceptional, & the prices (for this quality) are not reasonable, they're downright inexpensive.I'll be back!

I have been her for both lunch and evening meal - sitting downstairs in the bar! I think the food is really excellent - and would recommend! However, the only (slight) downside is that I don't find the stools overly comfortable. There is a restuarant upstairs with tables and seats - but on a weekday evening/lunchtime it feels a little formal! However, that said I will happily go back and eat there! Definately worth a try if you haven't been.

We dined here recently and enjoyed the food. The staff were OK, pleasant but too familiar. We ate upstairs, having to run the gauntlet of shouty objectionable patrons downstairs. The atmosphere upstairs is much better, but there are still plenty of loud mouths who think we all want to listen to their conversations.Having said that, the fish specials were very good.

The only saving grace of this eatery were the waitresses who were attentive and pleasant. The food was very average - the price was not. The place seemed to be full of overly loud people which ruined our evening. I should have followed my gut instinct when we were seated and just left.

We took over the upstairs restaurant area for a family party of 17. We were asked to pre-order from a set menu which we did. The whole experience was very good from food to service. Would recommend
