The Broadfield in Sheffield

The food was good. The beer was excellent. Staff were great too.

Booked a table to have dinner with a lovely friend. Enough people inside to make it interesting, but not over crowded. Had a lovely table, very clean, fabulous menu, difficult to decide what to have to eat, as I haven't been here for a number of years. We were spoilt rotten, lovely bottle of wine to share. My friend had the fish and chips, where as I decided I needed a pie, opted for the Ruby Port and Venison, omg, it was so worth waiting for, and didn't disappoint either. We didn't have a starter or a pud, just felt full, yet comfortable. Attentive staff, very good service, food hot, looked attractive on the plate. I'd definitely recommend, and I shall not be leaving it as long before I return. Thankyou team Broadfield.

A first visit and very impressed, generous portions of lovely home cooked food in a relaxing atmosphere. Our server was brilliant, really looked after us, I wish I'd asked his name now as he deserves a big shout out. Would highly recommend this pub!

What a delight to go into a pub & have genuine friendly, smiley & helpful staff from absolutely everyone. We'd booked a table for lunch & ordered king prawns starter to share & then my friend had a venison pie which she said was gorgeous & I had chicken schnitzel, really tasty & crunchy. We had a couple of 🍷 carmenere, very good wine choice & finished off with a stunning cheese board & one of the nicest chocolate pots I've ever had. We left full as frogs 😂 Thankyou Broadfield, you really made us feel welcome & we look forward to returning.

Didn't dine this evening, but as four guy's having an evening out without the ladies, enjoyed the quiz and the atmosphere 👍

I together with family and friends have been eating and drinking here for almost 10 years ( excluding covid ) at our previous visit we were a little disappointed, not complaining, with the choice of pies I sent an email to Ellen and she sent a very nicely worded response We visited last week the choice of pies was superb and they tasted even better lovely staff and very well run and organised pub highly recommended Thank you all David

Service impeccable, food was excellent. Bit of a mix up with the food, I did not specify one of the roasts was vegan so 100% my fault. The amazing (short brown hair) lady came over and apologised. No hassle with the swap whatsoever. Will be back again.

Very dissapointed chips were raw in the middle steak was over cooked tough and cold (and £25!)overall not very impressed with our meals today… 1pm and ran out of most items on the menu and decided to split a dish into two dishes to try and tend to everyone’s needs members of our table eat here often and were annoyed their dish was cut in half and served to two people deffo not a let’s rush to come again because it was great it was very disappointing

I’ve had some very nice pies here and some very nice Sunday dinners elsewhere and I have to say today, though the beef duo was a good shout, I think we were victims of the Sunday rush. Food was lukewarm, and service was too to be honest. Lots of staff about but barely a smile, not attentive at all, not even saying a word when bringing over drinks. I’m sure it was a one off but overall I feel for what we were paying for Sunday dinner it would have been cheaper tastier and friendlier at a branded pub carvery, which isn’t really what The Broadfield is about I thought

First time visiting, and it will definitely not be the last, with warm hand made sausage rolls on the bar to tempt you, and yes they did tempt me. Great menu of locally sourced food, superb quality and value for money. I had the ham hock, wowsers, probably the best I've ever had, it was simply devine. With a wide range of cask and Keg beers, and spirits to every taste, they have the food and drink sorted. The staff are great too, excellent service, polite friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble. A great pub, with superb food and great staff. 👍 👍👍👍

Lovely place, but I made a mistake and had a pie. I'd had one on a previous visit, and it had not been great, so I should have tried something else.

Love the Broadfield. There's always a great atmosphere and the food has always been good. It's one of my favourite pubs in Sheffield.

If you are new to Sheffield or visiting then this pub is the one to go to , we used to live up Abbeydale road and this was our local , have always gone back after too, incredible amount of beers and guest beers to work through , food was and is outstanding , the pies are out of this world, staff are always busy sometimes serving a couple rows back but are always lovely and polite. If you live in Sheffield and haven’t visited then get out of your cave and get yourself down.

Lovely old pub with plenty of tables and big beer garden food looked well presented. We only tried the gorgeous sausage rolls which were well worth it very tasty and quite filling

Go every year for the festive menu, and it never disappoints. Other times of the year, you'll get one of the best pies or Sunday roasts available.

What an absolutely wonderful Christmas dinner!! Quite aside from the joy of not having to cook and wash up, we had such a gorgeous time on Christmas Day with the Broadfield team! The food was outstanding and the atmosphere was a warm, relaxed and laid back festive vibe! As always we were made to feel so welcome by everyone and we were chuffed to bits with our Christmas card and gift of handmade cookies 🥰 You outdid yourselves - a ho-ho-wholly deserved 10/10!!! Food was very good - especially starters and the festive menu! - but the slightly anti-family-friendly service we received from one waitress left us disappointed. Having booked a table for four and added that we’d need a high chair, we were told there was only a reservation for four adults. We were quickly made to feel problematic through a continually frosty reception and slow service. Other than that, we had a lovely time.

Staff friendly and attentive. Very busy. Limited selection on menu. Very delicate flavours were masked by lashings of gravy. Gravy boat would be better.

Fantastic food, good value harshly knocked off a star for service as no one came to take our food order and we had to chase up, but otherwise it was fantastic

I did have food here lovely! But I thought I would get a bit of a bigger bowl of ice cream and not a little bowl and have something on it but also too cold and tasted like ice the ice cream and it wasn't the normal temperature but everything else was fine :)

Lovely roast, and the friendliest service, the atmosphere was so nice and cosy and it was everything we wanted it to be, will definitely be back for another and recommending it to our friends!

Ahhh, what happened? A good few years of speciality pies, and generous pub grub done well… But a recent visit would suggest a menu re-think involving customer endurance and a wilful disregard for bare minimums. The new offer involves not-quite half-arsed, smaller portions, and a 40% more margin hike on plates of ‘it’ll do’ Once golden, fluffy twice-cooked chips are now feeble anaemic, oblong baked potatoes. The chicken and shitake mushroom pie came with almost dehydrated mushrooms which a steak knife would have struggled with and an austerity inspired two pieces of chicken, all encased in a suet jacket which owed more in texture to partially-dried polyfilla than actual pastry. And this cornucopia of ‘meh’ was doused in a gravy of reduced bisto with a salt content which could rival the dead sea in salinity. I mean, you shouldn’t have to throw a reasonable expectation for quality under the bus just for the pleasure of experiencing a decent boozer, but we are where we are.

Excellent atmosphere, friendly staff and best Sunday roast outside of my own kitchen! Truly superb food. My hubby said the Guinness was also a quality pint. Even at a later sitting only a couple of menu items were unavailable. Highly recommended.

Fancied a nice Sunday roast having just come out of hospital the day before. Had beef sirloin and it was so fatty and gristly I could hardly cut through it. Normally we go to a Toby carvery but thought we'd try somewhere more local Eaten there many times midweek and always enjoyed it. But this time we won't be going back.

Fantastic food, good place to eat.

Actually a 4 and a half star. Overall just a very good pub-restaurant. On the night itself it was very noisy. The service was good and so was the food. Nice selection of international beers (a bit pricy though). One of the waitresses reminded me of (a young) Cameron Diaz.

Sasha was absolutely fantastic, very quick service and food was immaculate! Had the lamb shank with all the trimmings, and my partner has the hunters chicken burger - INCREDIBLE Would recommend to anyone!

Great pub, the roasts are pretty consistently great. Lovely vibes full of kids and dogs. Always enjoy taking friends and family who are visiting Sheffield.

Hands down the best pub in Sheffield. The building is really nice with loads of seating, the drinks selection is great including a great non-alcoholic choice, the service is spot on and the food is AMAZING. Like, unexpectedly tremendous food

Really wonderful pub and restaurant with and outdoor terrace area. Dog friendly too- can order food in the pub area with a dog (not in the restaurant area). Staff was really friendly and the selection of beverages is ace- cocktails, ales, and more! I went for a good ol’ steak pie and it was great! The chips were big and juicy ! The bone marrow gravy was absolutely ace! The pie was filled with a lot of homemade goodness! My friends got fish n chips and the chicken and Brie pie which was also great! Of course I has to finish off with the a dessert! The crumble was great - very tasty and hearty. Unfortunately the banoffee cake a bit chewy- microwaved? Overall, positive experience and will definitely love to come back to try more!

This has to be one of the best pubs around Abbeydale and has the best selection of beers and ales, as well as cooking a cracking Sunday dinner. I can’t wait to go back it’s always a guaranteed winner. I went to one of the special evenings upstairs and it was a quirky take on a traditional British menu, with a twist! Pop in for a pint on a Friday or Saturday evening and there is a real buzz. The outdoor space at the back is very spacious and in the summer there is no where better!

Amazing choice of beer. Staff were really friendly [considering it was really really busy that says a lot], then there was the steak and kidney pie. In my 65 years, it's probably the best I've ever had [sorry Nan]. Thank you Broadfield great job

Place was buzzing like a friendly beehive by 6PM. Not sure if it was the 20 km walk around Sheffield that day or the Negroni, but the fennel sausage was sooo good.

We booked the function room upstairs for a family celebration. George looked after us impeccably and with great humour. Cannot fault the room and the help and assistance we received was second to none The food was beautiful as we know it always is at the Broadfield. We had a wonderful celebration. Perhaps the nicest gravy I've ever had on a pie. I'm sure I used to teach the young lady serving us, and she was delightful. Atmosphere was a little flat, even though it was a quiz night.

Been going there for more than 15yrs and food was always the same: amazing quality and big portions. Broadfield is (was..) famous for its home made massive chips,which you cant get anywhere else, but after the last visit the prices have increased even more and the portions have gone smaller... chips weren't the same,it tasted and looked like frozen chips from aldi....cmon guys!!!! You've been doing great for years, dont go down the hill! At least keep the same sizes and the same quality food, especially when the prices are skyrocketing
