The location is great with a spectacular view of the bay. The staff are polite and efficient but that was it. The cafe is dark and uninviting, seriously in need of a make-over. The cappucino was just foamy milk, it didn't taste of coffee. One cake was really sugary and the other, Victoria sponge, was dry and had very sweet butter icing. For the price I thought it was pooe. I wouldn't go again.

Haven't been here since my uni days, but it's just as cosy as I remember. Snake oil on tap, and good pub Sunday food.

If you want fine dining you should go elsewhere. The menu was okay but more like pub grub in a restaurant setting. Would we eat there again. Probably if it’s pouring with rain and we couldn’t eat elsewhere.

We visited twice during 1 week because it was so nice. 1st visit was lunch - mushroom cheese melt and a bacon sandwich and tea & coffee. The food was gorgeous and not a long wait. 2nd visit was full breakfast (veggie for one) and tea and coffee. Both times the food & drinks were very nice and piping hot. Lots of content in the breakfast and quality ingredients. Set above cooplands, this place is definitely worth a visit.

I went for lunch with my son and baby granddaughter on Monday 23 October. The food was good Scampi & chips and Fish & Chips. Most impressive though was the welcome and service. A high chair was quickly brought out and we were offered a lovely table in front of the fire which was especially welcome as it was a cold damp day. Thank you to Julie,Michelle and Josh. We will be returning.

We had a fabulous dinner at the Scarborough Arms on a busy Saturday evening (reservation essential). We skipped starters and had the salmon (a special for the night), BBQ ribs and sirloin steak. Throughout the evening, Derek and his team took great care of us. The food was superb, accompanied by good wines (Sauvignon Blanc and Malbec) & a draught Moretti. Thanks to everyone for making us so welcome whilst staying in the town. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed a great fish & chips meal here over the weekend. Also the "North Bay" real ale was exceptional. Prompt service and friendly staff, we'll be back!

We called and booked afternoon tea for 4 people last night to have today at 2pm. I asked for a quiet area to sit as my mother is part way through chemo. We also asked for no fishy sandwiches. We arrived slightly early but I advised reception that we were here for afternoon tea, they didn’t seem to know anything about it but we were told to wait in the lounge which was no problem, we could not buy a drink as the bar wasn’t open, so we sat and waited, the manager came and said they were just preparing it and would come and fetch us when it was ready. We waited and waited and at 2.20 my father chased it up it was then brought to us in the lounge area around 2.30 and served on a coffee table with no room for it and with salmon sandwiches. I then advised that we didn’t like the salmon sandwiches so the waiter took away the whole afternoon tea and we had to wait another 15 or so minutes to come back. It’s was absolutely disgusting, apparently the scones were freshly baked and warm when in actual fact they were rock hard and stone cold and stale and looked straight out of a packet, there was barely enough cream to spread a very thin layer on some was that hard they were inedible. The white sandwiches were stale, they egg mayonnaise sandwiches were slimy and the small cakes were still frozen. I’m quite sure they forgot we were coming and threw whatever they could together. I don’t mean to be rude or nasty but the gentleman that served us was very unkept and had an awful odour. I informed reception when I paid the bill and can 100% confirm I will not be recommending or returning. This was a very disappointing as this was the first break and outing since my mother’s diagnosis, and was definitely the worse experience of afternoon tea I’ve ever encountered.
