I went for lunch with my son and baby granddaughter on Monday 23 October. The food was good Scampi & chips and Fish & Chips. Most impressive though was the welcome and service. A high chair was quickly brought out and we were offered a lovely table in front of the fire which was especially welcome as it was a cold damp day. Thank you to Julie,Michelle and Josh. We will be returning.

If you are looking for a lovely pub lunch don't bother here. Doesn't serve food during the week. Gentleman said only weekends well actually just on Fridays. Very disappointed considering signs outside say pub food as does there website and Facebook page :(

We stayed in Snainton for a long weekend and popped into the Peacock a couple of times to receive a warm welcome.

Nice and welcoming atmosphere, friendly locals. Lovely beer, if you are in I would recommend Yorkshire blonde. Good selection of drinks, spirits and wine. Also has an off license.

We visited on our way back from long day out on the coast. Really busy we were lucky to get a table. We chose pizza from the menu, freshly cooked and spiced up for us! Food was delicious, really good value for money too. Two pizzas a (huge ) portion of chips all for less than £17.

This was our local for the couple of nights we stayed in Snainton. It was not even a minute walk from the cottage across the road where we stayed. It is a locals pub but we were made to feel very welcome and everyone spoke and we joined in which was lovely. The barmaid Nicola was really lovely and so friendly, we took our chihuahua Billy in and he was really fussed over. The second evening we went in we had a meal cooked by Andy...... It was gorgeous. I has salmon and prawn linguine served with a crusty cob, David had a homemade pizza and he did 4 different flavours on each quarter as he couldn't make his mind up and he said it was a really good pizza not one just pulled out the freezer. It was blizzard weather on the second day and it was lovely to go in the peacock as it had a big roaring open fire. Great place and would definitely return. It's not posh but it's homely and you're made welcome and I felt comfy which I loved. The review with one star from David is my David who pressed one Star by mistake.

We booked well in advance for a party of 14 to celebrate two birthdays. On arrival, acknowledgement was given regarding our booking informing us our table would be ready shortly - it was 6.25pm and booking for 6.30pm and had currently got about 10 local men sitting at it drinking their pints! The man behind the bar asked for the person who made the booking - acknowledged her also and then continued to serve us drinks. It was shortly after this that a female member of staff came out and started to shout at the man behind the bar saying something about not being able to fulfil the booking. We were then told they couldn't serve us food! We kindly asked for our money back for the couple of drinks he had already served as it was obviously a big mistake on their part, but he rudely refused saying he wasn't in position to do that as he wasn't the landlord. When we asked for the landlords details to complain - he claims he didn't know who he was or where he lived!! He then went on to say it was not their fault. He was not apologetic in any way - in fact he even tried to make it our fault! I don't think the landlord was aware that this arrogant, rude man had just turned away a food booking for 14 adults - plus alcoholic drinks. The overall service in this place was disgusting and I would NOT recommend it to anyone. On the brighter side and to our great advantage was a much nicer, welcoming place just 5 minutes walk away called The Coachman. They fit us in at very short notice and were more than welcoming. Lovely atmosphere here, excellent service and food. We would highly recommend The Coachman and happy with how our evening turned out - we ended up having a great night

First visit to Betton Farm and what a find.. Beautifully refurbished restaurant/tea room set in the small village. Staff were fantastic , very knowledgeable, very professional and super friendly. Only had a light snack and coffee (cakes made in their bakery are lush) sat looking out the window with beautiful countryside views. Definitely be back for a meal as the menu looks delicious... Fabulous courtyard for those sunny days adorned their bakery/shop selling a delicious array of goodies. Great value for money... And !!!!! They have a cracking little animal farm with some super friendly animals... star of the show the friendly pig... A visit to this gem is highly recommended.

Just stayed for one night. Fantastic location. And a decent enough welcome. Room lovely, clean and comfy bed. Lovely quality tea.and coffee. We were asked what time would we like breakfast the choice was 8, 8.30, 9 or 9.30 we chose 9am we came down for breakfast and service was good.. then we chose full breakfast and a good size one turned up!! When we started eating it was clear it had been cooked and left to keep warm ages the egg looked like the yolk had been on somebody elses plate hash brown had such a hard bottem you couldn't get your teeth though it, I'm sure they knew how bad it was as they kept well out of the way. We left lots of the breakfast! We proceeded to check out and she said was everything OK ? I said lovely apart of the breakfast that had been kept warm far too long.. she just said sorry and not very sincerly and changed the subject.. we travel alot and vote with our feet.. won't be returning to stay at the Royal george. Such a shame. But we didn't let it ruin our lovely trip to Staithes..and we will be back......

The Plough is in a lovely location and not too far from Whitby harbour which was great for our trip to the WGW. The pub itself is cozy and we were shown to our room by a lovely young chap. There are only three rooms to rent and we were in room one. Upon inspection it was nice and clean and smelt fresh. Very basic with a kettle and tea/coffee but for one night we couldn't complain. The bathroom was very spacious though with a big walk in shower. It was quite cold in our room and when we tried to turn the radiator on it didn't seem to work. We only used the room as a base to sleep and we were out till early hours so this wasn't too much of a problem for us. Also the remote control for the TV didn't seem to work so we only had the one rubbish channel to watch as we couldn't turn the TV over, but again wasn't too much of a problem. If we had been staying for more than a night then we would have mentioned it to staff. I found the bed to be quite comfy but my husband said it was really uncomfortable. We also found a past guests hoodie under the bed so obviously hadn't been cleaned properly. Food was decent and prices were what you'd expect. It was a shame they didn't do breakfast. 10 mins in the car to whitby and not too far from other attractions. We would definitely visit again for food if nearby but I probably wouldn't stay here again if for more than a night.

I recently dined at the White Horse and Griffin, and it was a complete disappointment. My sister-in-law, who dined with me, got her meal at half price after she raised a complaint, but when I did the same, the manager flat-out refused to discount mine. The excuse? Because I had eaten my meal, it was “too late to complain.” This is absolutely ridiculous — as a customer, I should still be able to express dissatisfaction, especially when the meal was so underwhelming. For £24, I was served a chicken leg, half a tomato, and a small potato. What a joke! The portion was tiny, the food was average, and the lack of customer service was downright frustrating. I won’t be returning, and I highly advise others to avoid this place unless you want to be treated unfairly.
