Called on the off chance as we hadn't booked on Sunday lunchtime. Although many tables we reserved,they managed to give us a lovely table in the window. We ordered 2 steak pies with chips and vegetables. The pie and chips were already on the plate and we were given a tureen of veg which consisted of new potatoes.carrots.cabbage and cauliflower,all cooked to perfection. The pie was ob cooked on the premises a big square each,loaded with tasty meat in a lovely pastry. The chips were nicely cooked brown and crispy,chunky,also not the usual frozen type. The food came with a large gravy jug too. Altogether a lovely meal and would definitely recommend.

Beautiful food, yes it may be expensive to some but they are helpful, friendly, accommodating, it’s a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend it, sometimes their servings are too much but they are more than happy to give you containers to take it home. Well done guys/girls

On Wednesday 13th November after visiting friend in hospital we called at the Scarborough Arms the pub looked inviting and well looked after we ordered steak pie and my partner had fish and chips I literally could not eat the pie i think it had been a good pie in another life reheated beyond redemption my partner who is not weak couldnt cut the pastry the chips were pale veg limp and over cooked my partner did a little better with fish and chips when i told the waitress i would not return for food she replied oh ok then . Such a let down and a shame its a lovely pub i got back to the hotel and ordered a sweet i think when you send a full plate of food back and you explain its not edible the chef should come out and apologise what a shame i hope the owner sorts the food out its a nice pub .

Llamamos para almorzar un domingo, después de haber visto todas las buenas críticas, pero solo puedo hablar por nuestra experiencia, y tengo que decir que era mucho una bolsa mixta. El personal era muy amable y acogedor y nos sentó a pesar de que no habíamos reservado. Mi esposa pidió carne asada el domingo, y yo pedí eglefino con papas fritas. No hubo problemas con el asado, y se disfrutó mucho. Sin embargo, el eglefino estaba tan mal que lo devolví. La mitad de la masa estaba demasiado cocida y dura como una roca, pero el resto estaba empapada e insípida. El pescado en sí estaba mojado y húmedo, los guisantes mojados eran descuidados, y las patatas fritas estaban mal cocidas. El personal me ofreció un reemplazo, pero pedí que lo retiraran de la factura, lo que hicieron. No digo que no volviéramos ya que podría haber sido un día libre. Todos los demás alimentos que salieron se veían bien, y no escuchamos a nadie más quejándose. Yo diría que llames y juzgues por ti mismo, pero 5 de cada 10 de mí.

Absolutamente encantador asado de domingo. Derretir en la boca carne asada y pavo húmedo. Increíbles patatas asadas, patatas nuevas y verduras de temporada. Merece la pena visitarlo y a un precio razonable.

We had a fabulous dinner at the Scarborough Arms on a busy Saturday evening (reservation essential). We skipped starters and had the salmon (a special for the night), BBQ ribs and sirloin steak. Throughout the evening, Derek and his team took great care of us. The food was superb, accompanied by good wines (Sauvignon Blanc and Malbec) & a draught Moretti. Thanks to everyone for making us so welcome whilst staying in the town. Highly recommended.

We called in unplanned and hadn’t booked. This pub was very busy, that didn’t affect the food standard or service. The menu is classic pub food, done very well, with a good specials board too. Portion sizes are generous we didn’t need dessert. Prices are spot on and good value for money. Kids meals are very good value too We ate there twice, nice people great atmosphere and great service We will be back.

Amazing little pub in Scarborough, party of 9 and every single meal was made fresh and tasted amazing, we had a range of burgers, curry and fish and chips, portions were huge Everything was brought out at the same time and service from the staff was brilliant We visited Scarborough from over in Lancashire and this was hands down the best food we had here Would 100% recommend

To start of it was very over price second of all the food was diabolical and the chips weren’t cooked.on top of that the lasagne looked like sick and was 20% meat when we complained the staff couldn’t give a toss.will not be coming here EVER AGAIN!!! I suggest others do the same

This is an old fashioned pub. Lots of locals but also welcomes visitors. Real ale kept to perfection, pub grub superb. Dogs welcome, Children welcome. Always a nice atmosphere, squats a good meal, always excellent ale. Well worth a visit.

Booked a table and glad we did as was very busy, one side closed off for a private party. I ordered chicken leek and bacon with sautéed potatoes, my potatoes were new potatoes cut in half and some burnt, it also tasted of garlic so it’s a good job I like it. My partner had chicken curry which was delicious 🤤. Friendly staff and a nice pint and atmosphere. Also dog friendly if you have a pooch.

Just been to the Scarborough Arms. Was recommended by our B and B host. We booked a table for 2 of us. When we arrived there was a function on in one half of the pub. We were greeted as we went in and told we had to wait a short while. The pub looked to be full of locals. Most congregating around the bar making it difficult to get to. When we got out table it was between 2 4 seater tables. My partner sat on a bench seat on a corner. Shortly after we had 2 gentlemen sat on one of the other tables, one sat at angle to my partner almost with his arms in her back. We ordered garlic mushrooms and a prawn cocktail. They were nice although we felt on the large side for a starter. To follow we had surf and turf, medium rare sirloin served with hand cut chips, peas, balsamic tomatoes and mushroom. To say it was disappointing is one word. The steak was medium well at best covered In black bits. The prawns well they lacked colour let alone cajun seasoning. The mushroom was almost raw in the middle, the peas were not green to say the least. The chips had the steak on top of them and it had also been rested on them too so were soggy, let alone dark from cooked in old oil. The tomatoes we both had a full vine, no balsamic and they looked like they had been shown the oven as a tease to being cooked. I don't like to complain when I'm out, 25 years a chef I know how hard it can be, but these were basic errors I'm afraid. We did tell the I assume landlady who said she would tell the kitchen. She offered us a pudding or another drink which we declined. When I paid we weren't offered anything off our bill. Sorry guys but next time I'm In Scarborough I'll look elsewhere.

Had a lovely meal with my hubby, we both chose the Steak Pie and it was gorgeous, plenty of meat inside and a good size portion, it was served with lovely chips and veg. Would certainly recommend it.

It’s my lovely Mother in laws 78th birthday today. We usually go to a country pub for lunch as there’s quite a few of us. Not sure why we always think it must be a country pub? Certainly not after today. My Mum had been here and recommended it so I rang and booked it for 20 of us. 4 generations of us and very differing appetite’s including Vegan . We got sat down and were told to take our time. No rush , even though the rest of the place was busy and they may have wanted our tables later. We ordered and the food was about Half an hour. 20 meals came out no more than ten minutes apart. I had the Steak pie and it was delicious. Absolutely beautiful in fact, now another pub not too far away is famous for its steak pie, but this knocked its socks off in flavour, size and price. The roast dinners were fantastic and my mum gave me some of her roast beef which melted in my mouth. There was an endless supply of vegetables and the staff were really helpful and courteous. It was a brilliant afternoon in a great pub with fantastic staff and food. Can’t recommend it enough !! We will be back 😊

Amazing experience. We booked for 22 for our Mum’s birthday. Mum was made to feel really special and was even given a free drink. Would highly recommend. Delicious food and friendly staff. We’ll definitely be back.

This is by far the best pub in Scarborough. The food is fabulous so much so we drove 2 hours for their Sunday Roast today taking family with us . Food is plentiful and the hosts cannot do enough for you . It’s a firm favourite with our family and wouldn’t eat anywhere else …. Plenty of choices on the menu . The drinks are also great and always a great choice of champagne for a special occasion . Well done to the Hosts

Very good meal in dog friendly pub. We were looking for dog friendly pub in Scarborough and saw trip advisor reviews. Really good fish and chips and wife had a choice of vegetarian options. Well presented and well cooked food.

We had a table for four and the food for each of us was very very good. There were two vegan options on the Sunday menu and because it was New Year’s Day we got to have the Sunday menu, even though it wasn’t Sunday. Both the vegan options were exceptionally good Very reasonably priced. The only slightly strange thing was that there was a bracket that we think was a bottle opener on the wall/column next to our table. When ordering, they asked me the table number so I went to look round the column to see the table number, and the bracket went into my forehead. It was very painful. I asked the baster for ice and the customers who had witnessed the accident were very concerned for me, but none of the staff showed any concern whatsoever. At the moment. I have a scab and bruising to my hairline. I think they should take that bracket down.

Absolutely brilliant pub. Derek and Jeanette ( landlord and landlady) make everyone feel so welcome. We've been in Scarborough for the new year weekend and have eaten and drank here for the 3 days we have been here. Wouldn't go anywhere else! Food is gorgeous. Been here for the new year and during the year aswell for the last 6-7 years and always have lots of fun and laughter. Well recommended

Having been to Scarborough for over 30 years I can believe I’ve never found this place before. The food and service and general atmosphere of the place were great for my first visit. The menu is varied (see attached pictures as of December 2023). We had the Steak Pie & Veg and it was excellent.

Our 1st visit but definitely not our last! Proper pub, beautifully decorated for Christmas. Dog friendly throughout, great food, parking onsite and a fab atmosphere.

We had the Christmas menu with 2 courses. Both were delicious and great portion size. Would recommend here, atmosphere was fab and the staff were helpful and friendly.
