We had a really wonderful night at The Hare. The food was absolutely stunning and the rooms were cosy and comfortable, with an excellent rolltop bath. Liz and Paul were such good hosts: coming to The Hare didn't feel like coming to a restaurant, it felt like coming into someone's home for a perfectly curated and utterly wonderful evening. Reviews I've seen online don't mention the breakfast: this is an essential part of a good stay, and The Hare delivered the most wonderful tray of goodies to the table in the morning, as well as hot coffee and a good chat. Other restaurants with rooms in the area may be better known, but The Hare is an absolute treasure.

We visited this tearoom after while back after a hike and what we had to eat and drink was amazing. The coffee was perfect, which is rare. The food was lovely, I had a lavender scone. A true oasis.

It was my first visit and I was not disappointed. I loved all the restaurants, cafes and shops. It was market day while we were there but as it had snowed, only a few stalls came. We certainly got friendly service from the stall holders though. I shall go back for another visit soon, but book everything in advance, especially the restaurants, which get very busy.

Whole place was freezing. Sat with our costs on. Service was very slow. Half the meal was missing. Then just to finish it off the dog which I assume belongs to the owners cocked it's leg and passed urine all over the children's play area. We told the staff who shrugged their shoulders. As we left we found glass also in the play area. Sadly won't return. It's a shame as this used to be a lovely place. Prices do not reflect the food or service

Beautiful area and a good menu but the sandwich and bread we had with the soup was stale. A shame as the soup was lovely. We stopped off here as we did a walk from Helmsley and the Abbey is half way (about 3 miles) so perfect for a rest and refuel before we set off again. It’s absolutely stunning around here and the Abbey for a backdrop is simply beautiful for a rest and a bite. Nothing is cheap nowadays and I really don’t mind paying for good stuff. It’s just annoying when produce is not fresh as the price is still the same!

Champagne afternoon tea- £39.50, very disappointing and was a treat for my mum on our arrival in Helmsley. Tea was served using teabags although strainers on the table for loose leaf-odd! No tea menu offered to look at. Bread did not appear to be very fresh, dry. Very poor presentation overall. We left most of it although had it boxed up as a bit embarrassing, . It is a real shame as nice venue and nice staff. As a critique I would suggest looking at the Assembly rooms Norwich, much the same price for afternoon tea but completely different class and a lovely afternoon experience. Missing a trick here Feversham, you could really make your mark and perhaps up your footfall with a bit of research and revamp. Sorry to leave negative review, but had to lie to my mum about the cost as no comparison to other afternoon teas we have had and being totally British did not have heart to complain as we were the only customers in the Weathervane room at the time and young waitress very polite.

I popped in for a quick bite with my wife and grandson What a load of rubbish £19 for 3 bits of burnt bacon in small white bread warm tea and coffee a dry crumbling scone a small bottle of apple juice, never mind trying to look professional with table service and computers taking orders get the food right and you'll get customers... embarrassing never again spoilt our day.
