Went on a Wednesday lunch time after walking there from staying for a few nights away with friends (3 pple). Went to the counter to order after deciding to be asked to wait about 20 minutes while they caught up on drinks & orders. Sat waiting but then others started to arrive after about 10mins so asked again if we could now order (as we didn't want to be at the back of the queue again). Went in and first thing I asked for was a Mocha coffee but with a half shot of coffee as my friend cant have it too strong to be told "cant do that as it's made as it is". I asked if it was a machine that made it then (like press a button and it's done) but could see it was a proper coffee machine. I was again told, couldn't do it so told her to leave it then. We all then left. Very rude member of staff, not accommodating at all and clearly doesnt understand meaning of being in "hospitality". Went from wanting food & drinks to getting nothing, so I'm sure the foods great if you can get it!

We decided to stop for breakfast on the way home after a lovely weekend away. When I went to the counter to order I was told there was “ a little wait” I said fine this was 10.21. At 11.00 am my partner stopped a passing waitress and politely asked if she had an idea of when it was coming. She said that the chef had become overwhelmed with all the orders and it was on its way. Unfortunately she was very patronising with us and made us feel rude for asking for an update. We felt like we didn’t want to eat there then and felt uncomfortable. I went to see another lady and said if our breakfasts had not been started then please could I cancel them as we needed to go. She said they were just starting them so I said well I’ll have a refund then please. There was a bit of a trauma getting the refund as no one seemed to know how to do it at the till, the same lady who was rude to my partner told me you paid with a Santander card and what’s your number? I said I don’t know my number as I did apple pay but I don’t bank with Santander. She said you must do! so I ended up getting it back in cash. It was about our fourth visit, but sadly we won’t come back now.

We stopped off here on our way back and from Scarborough as its about 1/2 way through our trip. We both had the small breakfast and it was amazing, the best North Yorkshire breakfast we have had. Grandaughter had white toast with jam and she ate all of it (very unusual for her). Food was well presented and hot, tea and coffee were good. We didn't have any cakes but they all look lovely and I could have eaten any of them. The staff are friendly and seem to have many regulars that call in. The place is lovely and the items in the shop looks great, though we didn't buy anything apart from milk.

The staff were friendly, the meal was average but, for me, the biggest disappointment was the deli. Have been coming to Beadlam for some years now and always shopped at their deli counter. This has gone now - extra tables for meals occupy it's former place. Gone is lovely selection of interesting cheeses, properly cared for and freshly cut to order - been replaced by a small counter offering little choice and, what there is, is all pre-packed in cling film - not something I would even think of buying. Sharing the same small counter were vacuum packs of meat labelled 'roast beef' that looked so pale it could have been mistaken for pork. On the nearby meat counter - an offer of 3 for £15 of various packs. I bought a pack of Tomato and Pork sausages - disappointingly tasteless, and 2 x packs of chicken breasts - cannot comment on these - gave 1 pack to a neighbour and froze the other one. Needless to say I will not be returning

The food was good but the service was disappointing. We were first to enter the bistro at just around 9.30 and the cafe door was opened by a young woman who made no effort to smile, welcome us politely or acknowledge us other than to say "I'll get some menus". I've got to say first impressions stick and I felt like turning round and leaving. She was miserable and clearly had no training in customer service. She served the food , we ate and left. I don't think I will be recommending this place based on her behaviour. It's a pity .

I visited Beadlam Grange Bistro today with my family. We’ve been a few times and enjoyed the Sunday lunch however we’ve been told they no longer serve this anymore. We ordered roast beef roll with roast potatoes. It’s the most horrendous sandwich I’ve ever seen!!!! The beef was very rare and blood made my bread very soggy along with some kind of sauce which was NOT included on the menu. I really think the menu needs adjusting as people need to know exactly what they are ordering. Also all visible staff on mobile phones when customers haven’t received all their drinks or cutlery when already been given their food and is going cold. Really poor service and food we will not be returning!

Been coming here for years (since it was a B&B actually). Service is always a bit hit and miss. So it proved yesterday. Very slow to be served. Staff uninterested (do they actually receive any customer service training? There's little sign of it). Waited forever for a christmas bap, despite it being quiet and everyone else already eating. No apology for delay. Then no cranberry in the turkey bap as advertised. To cap it all I was overcharged by £3 at the till and only realised when I was halfway home. Also stood at the deli for 10 mins trying to get some (very expensive) cheese. No-one came to serve so I gave up. I'd like to say this is out of the ordinary but it isn't, so finally I've had enough. I won't be back.

I am a regular visitor to the farm shop as it great to sit and catch up with friends whilst children plan on the indoor equipment, not to mention that the food and drink is fantastic! This summer, whilst at Beadlam Grange, my 1yo daughter had an extremely frightening accident that resulted in a ambulance taking her to hospital (I should say this accident was in absolutely no way the fault of the business). I cannot commend the staff that day enough for what they did to help her and me. From phoning the ambulance to giving first aid and not to mention the support and reassurance they gave me as her mother in the midst of it all. What an amazing team, thank you so much.

My first visit to Beadlam Grange. It is somewhere I have passed on many occasions but never visited. There is an on-site Farm Shop and Deli with amazing looking fresh produce and meat. Also a Home/Gift Shop. We dined as a party of 3 at the Bistro for lunch. The staff were unfortunately not overly welcoming and appeared uninterested. The menu choices were limited however the food was well presented and tasty (possibly overpriced in my opinion). The seating environment was comfortable however it was dusty and there were quite a few cobwebs. For the prices, I expected better attention to detail and customer care. I would not choose to dine at the Bistro again however the Farm Shop and Deli made the visit worthwhile. Plenty of on-site parking and toilet facilities were available.

I fell while out walking 3 weeks ago and have been housebound but today decided to try and get out to do some Christmas shopping and have lunch out. We were lucky to be able to park near the entrance and it was easy once inside to browse. We found some lovely gifts in the farm shop and also in the gift shop. We went into the outside barn type area as we hadn’t booked and the cafeteria was busy and no tables available. We ordered the Christmas burger with chips and myself a hot chocolate and my husband a cappuccino. We enjoyed our lunch and I found the disabled toilet great. Friendly service. The bill was £29.00. Will definitely visit again when fully mobile. The only thing is I wish there had been a little heat maybe a blower with it being a cold day.

Booked a table for two at lunchtime today and were so looking forward to a tasty meal after shopping in Helmsley. When we arrived we were left standing for ages and finally shown to our table. It was nearly 15 minutes before our order was taken and another 25 before our food finally arrived! By now we were really hungry but sadly the Christmas lunch was of a poor standard ( almost raw parsnips and carrots) and the steak flatbread was not as described. (Where was the blue cheese? It was mostly flatbread with chutney /smearedgravy and watercress. We have enjoyed our visits here before so what has gone wrong? A change of chef? Will be a while before we are tempted back.

Called in on the off chance and found a great cafe in a barn, at a working farm. Animals outside and the old sheepdog Wandering round. The cafe is really well laid out and The staff are most efficient and welcoming. The Food Choice is slightly limited but good farm quality, well cooked and really tasty - such as quiche, bacon baps and burgers. Not the cheapest, but the taste makes it worth it... There was torrential rain on our visit, but warm and dry inside the barn! Might have spent more time looking at the animals on a dry day!

We have been here before and to be honest have never been overwhelmed with sociability of the staff. Today was the last straw. For a start the staff need some training in reception and handling of customers during the present pandemic. It's alright having notices on the tables but some oversight and good practice in implementation of the guidelines would be appropriate. Stop at the desk at entrance and then shown in to a cafe with uncleared tables and left to stand while they're cleared.Decent restaurants will not allow you to enter until a table has been cleareda nd thoroughly sanitized. This place worries me. We finally sat down and were given a menu. There it ended; we sat and watched cusomers entering after us, being seated ( after they had stood while the table was cleared; again) and then approached for their order. Having had enough of this we got up and left and warned those waiting that they may or may not get served. I suppose if you are charging £3.25 for a buttered fruit scone you can choose your clientelle. Well good luck to you and I hope you find them. Perhaps with it being a farm shop you need to hold your trousers up with string, wear a battered old hat and suck a straw. Never again.

We often use Beadlam to purchase meat and have recently started getting veg as well. The staff are great but apart from the meat everything else can be patchy in quality and freshness so you need to be selective. One major point that the owners and staff probably have not noticed. The main building is absolutely filthy. Next time you go in take a look at the roof and eves. There are years of grime, cobwebs and crap up there above your food. Could be a sensational farm shop and tearoom but needs the basics sorting out.

Went for lunch today (10/01/2020). My partner ordered a full English breakfast which was excellent. I am pescatarian so opted for 'Cod fishcakes' with chips and salad -- very bad choice. The cakes were essentially potato cakes, very highly peppered with no visible fish and no taste of fish and looke very processed. Very gray filling. The chips were overcooked, over oily/fatty, lukewarm and very soggy. The salad (ha) consisted of a few leaves and two halves of one cherry tomato and was coated in a tasteless oil.On payment I did gently comment but little notice was taken. We went downstairs to the shop which is great but to add further to the half poor lunch I noticed that pensioners (which unfortunately we are) could enjoy 20 per cent reduction off meals in January which no one offered. One would have thought that someone in the cafe could have applied that to our meal which cost in total around £24 for one course each and two coffees NOT particularly cheap.I will definitely avoid going back to Beadlam.Roger Aspin07594339214

A good range of gluten free brownies, unfortunatley the thing that put me off, they were open to the elements, and the local flys were landing on them, which is why I didn't have one. The delay before getting our food must have been about 45 minutes and at no stage did anyone come over to us and explain what was going on. We noticed that people arriving after us were being warned that they would have to wait a while for their food, but we received no such advice. The food itself was OK, but expensive for what it was, with a thin slice of ham rather than a generous portion that I would have expected as the focal point of the meal.

It is at a farm shop so of course if you are vegetarian the choice is limited for a meal. However the breakfast bap was excellent my partner did not fancy a wrap but they were happy to do the filling with toast which was very good. Good Yorkshire tea of course. We liked it.

Having driving round and about Helmsley we decided to stop off for a snack at bedleam farm cafe thinking it would be farm produce . My partner and i opted for sausage and egg sandwich in bread bun and tea and a coffee.the lady at the counter charged me 17.95 for the sandwiches and drinks so I expected a very good quality produce. On returning to the car we opened our sandwiches out of foil to add sauce and to see the egg was under cook but yet burnt round edges and the sausage well can only be discribed as a cheap burnt catering sausages which added to our dissatisfaction. The farm cafe is nice inside.. overall my partner and I would never visit again.we know that not all farm cafes are as disappointing as this one as we have been in the area a lot.so please bedlam farm shop step up to the plate .....

Very enjoyable dining experience served by efficient waitresses at a reasonable cost.

We stopped here for afternoon tea. We found the price of the sandwiches expensive so opted for the afternoon tea because we thought it was good value. One of our party can't digest meat so we asked for a veggie version. She got cheese and pickle for all of her sandwiches which were served on dry white bread. We even had to ask for cutlery. You would have thought that some imagination could have been applied for 14.95 per person. The cakes were nice but that's as bout all.

Used this place as a tea stop and was pleasantly surprised firstly by the ease of access into the farm shop with plenty of parking although I do think they have missed a trick and could easy cater for coach parking if another field were available.

I always feel a little disappointed when a 'farm shop' is predominantly selling lots of household/tourist stuff. That said, the meat we bought was absolutely fine and well worth the trip.

Quality food together with very friendly & helpful staff - nothing is too much trouble here. It’s a wonderful place to shop whether it be to dine, buy meat, groceries, gifts, cards, flowers. A genuine family run business with a huge amount to offer.

Visited again for lunch and was fantastic. All served quickly with a smile and was very fresh. We bought some beef short ribs from the Butchery to slow roast at home and they were soooo delicious. Tender and melted in the mouth. Beautiful meat. Will be returning for more!

Discovered Beadlam at the beginning of this year and meant to go back as the produce looked really good and varied. Circumstances made that not possible but we are now in a position to use it regularly. The meat counter looks excellent and we purchased a family pack to try. Some interesting food available and the fresh stuff looks of good quality. We will be using it weekly from now on.

This farmshop is quality in all departments. The butcher's is locally sourced and the staff knowledge. Cheeses are wide ranging and delicious. The cafe is well set out serving delicious food. The gift shop is very handy for that gift that says I thought about you.

What a lovely place, we were seated straight away by a friendly waitress and both ordered the burger. The great thing was my partner could also eat a burger despite being gluten intolerant. It was probably the best burger we had ever had with lovely brown chips and homemade coleslaw, yummy. The staff are fabulous, and the service great. Thank you.

Had the pie of the day from the menu which was steak. Packed with moist, tender meat and the pastry was beautiful. A proper, homemade pie. Will be revisiting next weekend for their Xmas Fair.

Only two tables occupied when we arrived. Had to wait rather a long time for our order to be taken. One girl only taking orders, preparing and serving them. We could see from our table another girl stood just folding serviettes! Also, very pricey for what we had. Scones a little dry, maybe yesterday’s? I dont think we will be returning in any hurry!

Hubby had a ploughmans type lunch - which although there was variety the portions were rather stingy for the price paid. My panini was very ordinary, but the price was not! Nice range of items in the Farm Shop to purchase and friendly staff.

We stopped off to grab a quick bite on a wet afternoon. Large well set out area but staff seemed to be struggling a bit but might just have been tired. Scone was quite hard and served cold, unlike other places we'd been where we were always offered the option to have it warmed. Coffee and tea were ok, nothing special. Great meat to buy in butchery though so worth a stop for that.

This is a lovely place but let down by how chaotic it was . I got two scones and two coffees took the scones to our table and was told the drinks would be brought across, The scones were hard ( certainly not fresh ) I had trouble biting mine I had to cut it up to eat it , it was dry , I also noticed someone took a scone back I heard the girl say it must of got mixed up with the fresh ones , ours must have been last weeks ,It was 15 minutes before we got our drinks I noticed several tables hadn't got theres either , people were going to the counter to complain by this time . Just needs a bit more organising, who wants to eat a scone without a drink !!!..on the other hand we will go again to try the Gardeners lunch which looked delicious
