Out for anniversary dinner, Bar service was good, resturant service fair, food poor. Boiled potatoes only warm More Broccoli stalks than the edible part Muscle sauce served with the fish, may as-well have been cream without being cooked Will not be returning

We visited the Feversham Arms with friends back in August and even contacted the manager about the level of service we encountered and had no response. Definitely would not recommend. 1) The service was very poor and we had to ask for drinks. Was not offered the wine pairing/menu even when we had asked for it. 2) We all had the taster menu the dishes was not explained to us and just put in front of us. 3) I previously contacted you to let you know I had a serious nut allergy which our waiter confirmed when we sat down, yet I was still given the dessert with hazelnuts and hazelnut ice cream!!! Good job i asked and it was whisked away very quickly but this should not have happened in the first place and could have been a fatal mistake. 4) Apparently you had undercharged us and when you realised you caught up with us chasing us down the road stopping in the market square with the card machine and asking us to pay the £100 you undercharged us. It was highly embarrassing and very unprofessional and it was your mistake.

We had a three course dinner. The cost was £64 per head but it was well worth the money.I had a starter of sea trout followed by lamb both of which were delicious. My wife had a chicken terrine to start followed by halibut and she enjoyed both dishes. We struggled a little with dessert ,my wife had a cloutie dumpling which she struggled to finish because it was so filling and I had a raspberry parfait with honey and whiskey ,not sure if the flavours went together but I finished it .All dishes were beautifully presented and it’s refreshing to see a chef trying something a little different without going overboard.

My review is for the £64 dinner three courses table d'hôte menu. The quality and finesse of the food we had was outstanding and the restaurant truly deserved its two AA Rosettes. The front of house however lets the kitchen down - the team, including the reception team, could do with a bit of training to match the quality of the food on offer. Highly recommended to foodies though.

Not good enough ! Four of us looked forward to a high quality experience—- service, food and immaculate professional standards—— none of these were achieved. With the only choice offered a £64 a head 3 course with 5 or 6 choices for each section. We were not warmly welcomed nor asked if we would like to sit in the lounge for a pre meal drink but simply shown to the acceptable table . On the + side we were given a muse bouche and our options were taken correctly. Our starters were satisfactory without being outstanding—— partridge was tough but others no complaints except the waiter did not no the correct etiquette of how to each diner without leaning across guests. We all have experience of visiting top end restaurants and know ‘ Michelin style standards expected. Only 2 of our 4 different main courses were good enough. The venison was a disgrace ! It was barely ‘ starter ‘ size and parsimonious in the extreme with accompaniments. The cod loin was barely warm and lacked quality complements. When we came to desserts staff gave us 2 different menus , 1 saying supplements were charged for cheese ! - this option came ready plated with grapes and celery which were not fresh and the tiniest of slivers of cheese we couldn’t believe. Re value for money it was terrible, very disappointing and we will not be returning or recommending to all our extensive family and friends.

Having heard good reviews about this place we decided to visit we was going to attend spa as well but weather was too cold so decided upon just food The mains were fine had lamb and steak there was little choice on the menu we ordered a warm chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream however was served a cold brownie and I think was a salted caramel ice cream when I pointed out the error I was told I hadn’t read it properly the waiter then produced a menu and stated I was indeed wrong, until I highlighted to him it was indeed him that was wrong as clearly stated below the title warm with vanilla, he offered to get a replacement I said it’s fine as was spoiled already On receiving the bill they hadn’t even taken off the cost of the dessert even though it was an obvious error I would have thought that would have been the minimum from an establishment like this. I would be reluctant to re attend tbh not just because of service but we felt we could have got similar quality food elsewhere

We visited the Feversham on 19th august for afternoon tea, we have previously been before on a few occasions and never had any issues! However I called the day before(I know it was abit short notice but thought I’d try my luck) to ask if we could add an extra onto the afternoon tea making the total of people 5, but was told they could not accommodate. I accepted this as thought they must be really busy! However upon being shown to our table there was only one other family in 3/4people, so not sure why they could not accommodate must not want the business! Our afternoon tea arrived all on individual stands looked lovely! But we were quite disappointed the 4 finger sandwiches would have not even made a slice of bread they were so thin, and must have been out a while prior to being brought to us, as parts of the bread had gone hard/stale. The scones and cakes were lovely! Then we were asked if we required anymore tea/sandwiches. The tea took about 30 mins to be brought out to us. The staff were pleasant and it’s a lovely place to visit, not sure I would hurry back for afternoon tea anytime soon.

Visited this restaurant with friends. As soon as we entered the hotel staff asked if we needed assistance. Hotel has its own car park and lift up to the hotel. Relaxed in the bar with a drink prior to being seated at our table. I had the steak tartare as a starter. Never had this before but delicious and will have again. I had fish as the main course flavoured with mussels and herb crusted. Delicious. Finally for dessert I had the chocolate fondant. Lovely liquid chocolate in the middle. I will be definitely be going to this restaurant again.

My son treated myself and my husband to a gift voucher as a wedding anniversary gift for the Feversham Arms hotel. We decided to have lunch there. Long story short: we stayed at this hotel several years ago and it wasn’t a great experience. I really didn’t want to stay at the hotel or do anything more involved than have a simple lunch. Clearly, there’s no such thing as a simple lunch at the Feversham Arms. When we arrived at the Weathervane restaurant, there was just one other couple. Everywhere else in the hotel, bar, lounge etc where extremely quiet, not a single customer to be seen. We ordered our food, it arrived, it was ok. Not great, just ok. We both wanted a dessert, however, we waited half an hour before deciding that being ignored for half an hour was too much. We left the restaurant, and spoke to a member of staff behind the bar ( in fact there were 4 members of staff behind the bar! And not a single customer anywhere). We explained that we needed to leave as we’d waited for over half an hour without any staff in the restaurant. I explained about my gift voucher, and wanted to use it to pay the bill. The staff member told me that the full amount had to be spent as no change could be given. I explained it wasn’t our fault that we couldn’t spend the full amount because nobody came to take our dessert order, or more drinks. She said she could “give me some scones to take home”! I was flabbergasted. I refused her absurd offer and said I wanted another voucher for the unspent amount. She then offered a bottle of Prosecco. I explained we don’t drink alcohol, and repeated my request for another voucher. She went away and returned saying she couldn’t find anyone to ask. A young lad behind the bar said he’d only started there that day, as had a few other members of staff. Apparently there was a general manager , a deputy manager, and food and beverage manager on duty. Where were they hiding? They should be training the staff. A restaurant should not be left unattended. Customer service at this hotel is non existent. Little has changed in the several years since our last visit. We will never give our custom to this place again. I left with a voucher for the unspent amount and I will give it away. I just didn’t want the hotel to keep the money. I would not recommend this place to anyone, either as a hotel or as a restaurant. Very, very poor.

Can’t praise staff highly enough for all the effort they went to to make a 70th birthday celebration special. The lady, whose birthday it was, had a number of dietary requirements. Most places, where we have previously eaten, pay little more than lip service when they say they cater for dietary requirements but, having made prior contact and spoken to the chef, here they produced a delicious 3 course meal which the whole group were able to enjoy. The staff were pleasant, efficient and attentive. The ambience was very pleasant and we couldn’t have asked for a more enjoyable celebratory experience from start to finish.

We were staying at the Feversham Arms hotel and had dinner at the Weathervane as part of that experience. We found the service to be quite good, had a nice pre-dinner cocktail in the lounge while we were deciding on the menu, seated at a table by the windows. Our starter came out relatively quickly as did the rest of the meal. The food was acceptable but not what we would have expected at this price point. The mushroom risotto was mushy and overcooked. The fish was also just average.

We sat by the pool a few weeks ago and ordered coffee and cakes one morning, they weren’t busy. The waiter took the order and disappeared. Never saw him again. 30 minutes went by, no one appeared so couldn’t ask. After 40 minutes we left. Luckily it was a nice day, so sunbathed by the pool. Went to the walled garden instead, which is quite nice by the castle. Been here before so knew it would be a bit of an ordeal to say the least. It hasn’t improved. Just time wasters.

This was supposed to be a special 40th wedding anniversary meal. But sadly this venue completely ruined the occasion. We thought the service was a little slow and inattentive but decided to go with the flow. However, subsequent events brought this more into focus. We weren't asked if we wanted pre- dinner drinks and had to request staff to bring is a drinks menu. We told them that we wanted to enjoy our pre- dinner drinks without food arriving unexpectedly. No such luck though as both the wine we had ordered and the amuse bouche arrived before we were finished our drinks. Never mind, let's press on we thought. Things went fairly smoothly until the main courses arrived. My wife had ordered lamb to be served pink. It was cold when it arrived. It was sent back to the kitchen. It arrived a second time. But nolonget pink. It was sent back to the kitchen. It arrived s third time. It was just a mess. It was sent back to the kitchen with my wife in tears. I finished my main course while all this was taking place. Clearly she did not want to eat alone although no alternative was offered. This is not a fine dining or even a value for money experience. The female who was charged with sorting this out was clearly embarrased by the position that the kitchen had placed her in. It's your choice but if I were you....... I've just tried to submit this review but it t won't allow me unless I complete the field asking me to rate the experience and it won't let me allocate a zero rating!!!!!!. So I very reluctantly given it the lowest possible.

We went to the Feversham for a drink on an evening out in Helmsley. Firstly, the setting is very pleasant where we sat, outside near the pool. That’s the best I can say about it. We’ve been for drinks before and we return occasionally, hoping for better each time, but the same old problems remain. This place is broken - you can see it easily - so it’s frustrating that they don’t see it for themselves.I’m not going to go into too much detail because it would reflect badly on individual members of staff who don’t deserve to take the rap for long-standing problems. There are clearly fundamental issues in the management of this place that simply aren’t being fixed. Customers are too often being served poor quality stuff, at high prices, and after an incredibly long wait. It’s not difficult for someone to spot that and help the staff to improve. When paying in the bar afterwards you could see that other customers were about to be on the receiving end of the same type of issues, but nobody was overseeing it. Nobody seems to be pushing to make things better. Staff were friendly but morale seemed low. In the right hands, I’m sure they’d all be doing much better. We’ll no doubt return again at some point, hoping again for an experience to match the setting. I’d love to eat at Adam Jackson’s restaurant but sadly I don’t trust that the venue can match his incredibly high standards.

The entire hotel needs refurbishment, floorboards all uneven in bedrooms . The toilet was fitted between two walls and you had difficulty in flushing the handle without scrapping the back of your hand. Lounge area the chairs that old they had no life left in them. For the expense it should have been better however after your spa treatments you do get free tap water. My advise book elsewhere

I'm not sure on price, as it was included in our deal to stay at the hotel. But I'm reviewing this on the assumption its expensive!Basically, its going for upscale (google got consulted on what things meant on the menu, and the presentation is definitely going for fancy). And some things we got were really good. Others were less impressive (the linguine in the sea bass linguine was an example of something not done terribly well). The atmosphere is a bit lacking/non-existent. It is a hotel restaurant though, I guess. The service is a black mark too - its pretty slow and haphazard.I'd definitely stay at the hotel again, I'd probably try to eat elsewhere in the town though.

We enjoyed eating here for dinner and breakfast whilst staying overnight. The evening meal was a 3 course a la carte with a few choices for each course. Whilst waiting for our food we were given some delicious sourdough bread with sea salt and Marmite butters along with a tasty butternut amouse bouche. Our starters were chicken balloutine and smoked haddock chowder, mains were sirloin beef with horseradish mash and pork fillet with risotto, desserts were tiramisu with chocolate sorbet and sugared doughnut - all of which were excellent, good portions and very very tasty. We ordered sides of seasonal veg and chunky chips (an extra £4 each).Breakfast consisted of a buffet table with pastries, fruit, yoghurt etc and you then order from a hot breakfast menu - we opted for the eggs Florentine and full Yorkshire breakfast - again of a very high quality. Staff were friendly and efficient on both occasions and I admire them for putting up with the demands of some very picky diners.

Everything was delicious and the service we very good and attentive throughout. This is a review of the restaurant. Valet parking, Service was excellent in all areas of the hotel. Meals were of good quality and served in a pleasant dining room. The Feversham Arms is an old building which has been extended over time and is faded in places although pictures on the walls provide a bright passage throughout the hotel. We swam in the outdoor pool which was very pleasant although the pool requires some maintenance. The sauna and spa facilities were excellent. We were allotted room 30 which was very good with a comfortable bed and television. We did not use the lounge area because of our short stay. The disappointment was the walk-in shower in the bathroom. The tiles were damaged and the floor in the vicinity looked dirty. (not what you expect in a five star expensive hotel). I trust that this is not typical of the hotel in general.

We booked the afternoon tea at £21.50 a head. When we arrived the place was empty which should have been a warning sign. Even though there was no one else there we were seated at a low table right underneath the bar. I had to ask for the afternoon tea menu from a bloke who obviously had better things to do. Our Earl Grey tea was served a long time before the food so we either had to drink it or let it go cold. The food was ok but not great and the cakes weren’t very nice at all. The jam for the scones came in very small catering jars which are normally used for buffet breakfasts in hotels. We had to ask for teaspoons, plates, hot water and some lemon for the Earl Grey tea. The lemon, which clearly was a big ask, was served in large wedges from the bar and was almost impossible to fit into a teacup. And finally, a service charge was added to the bill! Seriously!

We booked this hotel after seeing it on iescape which I can usually trust for a great recommendation. We have stayed in many hotels in the UK with lovely spas around the world ... and usually get it right with our booking. It was my birthday so we wanted it to be really special. We stood outside with our cases and the entrance door needed a good clean it didn’t give us much faith . With just a bit more thought and attention to detail ... it has the potential to be great but when we stayed at least it felt lacking energy and personality and a little dark and scruffy ... our room a suite which we paid to upgrade to before coming was facing a wall and the curtains were heavy and you couldn’t pull them back really so it was very dark in the room. The decor is a mismatch of different woods and styles and colours which didn’t really work - with a little make over and more thought it could be much nicer . The staff were lovely but we felt for the price just a whole different approach and level of luxury would be needed to justify the prices. The spa wasn’t luxury it was just ok and the one small hot tub that was open was cold which is understandable on a cold day but as it’s a main feature could be topped up with warm water throughout the day. My massage was brilliant but again the spa lacked a bit of love - I’ve been in gorgeous spas where they light candles and have a real beautiful atmosphere it didn’t feel like that here . On the way out the staff told us that it’s used a lot by people on hunts and shooting holidays who pay a fortune to come ... we won’t be coming back I’m afraid ... really overpriced and felt more like a pub with a spa attached to it than the boutique hotel prices we paid ;((((

My wife ordered the lamb without being asked how she would like it cooked, arrived over cooked to the point where it was inedible. The duck was better though the book Choi was over cooked.it is surprising to see a dessert menu in Yorkshire without anything local on it, the cheese was continental, not a single Yorkshire cheese and for a whacking £7 supplement. Why don’t you put the local award winning ice cream on the menu at least you can’t make that go wrong.......well theoretically.....

We arrived on Sunday 22nd October, to a warm welcome from reception staff. Nothing too much trouble, they gave us a quick tour of the hotel and spa and showed us to our room. The spa facilities were clean and tranquil, the outdoor pool warm and clean, the odd leaf in the water but what do you expect in an outdoor pool in autumn in England? The spa staff were courteous and helpful. This was a lovely start to our anniversary break. Our room in the oldest part of the hotel was characterful and had rustic charm, originally built in 1855 you expect the odd creaky floorboard and slight imperfections in the room, again this is part of the charm older buildings have. The bathroom was clean well stocked with temple spa toiletries and lovely warm towels and robes. Evening meal was part of the package we had and the food was exceptionally executed, portion size was small but very high quality. The restaurant staff were very attentive and knowledgable about the different menus and allowed us to order from any of the menus on offer, and pay the appropriate difference. The cocktails were lovely if a little pricey, but for a special occasion worth it.

We were given a voucher as a 70th Birthday gift for Afternoon Tea.On our arrival we were met in the parking area and were immediately directed to the under ground car park. Although our booked appointment was not for over an hour we were told this was no problem and we were directed a short cut to the shops in Helmsley.

Stayed at the Feversham Arms for our Anniversary and enjoyed every minute. We were place in the old part which had a lovely sitting room with Log Burner, queen size bed which was so comfy and bathroom with shower. There are Temple Spa products in the bathrooms and this is also what they use in the Spa.

So we got the 1 night stay and 30 minute spa treatment and were upgraded to the junior suite which I have to say was bigger than our original room but I was slightly disappointed as it was extremely hot which made it very difficult to sleep and the bathroom was quite dated. You may feel I am being picky but we spent alot for one night and you expect it to be pristine. My partner's towel had a stain on it, although it did seem clean. The spa was great and so too was the treatment, the staff are all lovely too. This place could be great or maybe it was, it just needs a bit of tlc to get it up to the standards you expect for the price you are paying.

While staying near to Helmsley I decided to book a couples spa morning. Staff, facilities and lunch were brilliant . It was lovely swimming in the heated outdoor pool. Unfortunately, coffee or tea was not included in package so we brought one on arrival which was quite expensive, £7.60 for two coffees, but apart from this we had a very relaxing and chilled out morning. Free parking was available which was a bonus but only a small carpark.

We had visited Helmsley at Easter and decided to celebrate Libby's 60th Birthday with a weekend at this lovely hotel. Helmsley was also the choice for 8000 motorbike enthusiasts to meet for the same weekend! They provided some interesting people watching and we were also very grateful for the peace and calm provided by this lovely hotel. A lazy day by the pool and spa was an oasis of calm whilst chaos reigns outside. Kippers for breakfast and Chateaubriand for dinner were delicious culinary bookends for a splendid day. Maria looked after our every whim and need and was a true star of this outstanding hotel.

Called for lunch. Food was expensive but delicious. What a pity the surroundings don't match. Scruffy outdoor pool area lets it down. Get rid of the blue gazebo and hotch- potch of furniture! Even the cloths on the salad bar mismatched. Let it down big time.

Six of us booked in for lunch and because the weather was so hot we sat outside under shade by the pool. Bit strange in that you are sharing the area with people who are using the spa.Lady was very welcoming and beaming smile but she soon left and the male waiter was less amenable - appeared rather stressed and asking for something wasn't met with enthusiasm, more it appeared a hassle for him.Food was very tasty, prawns and steak, but salads that accompanied them were a bit uninspiring. There is also a very limited choice. What was very disappointing was one of our party was dairy intolerant and requested no ice cream with her desert, explaining the reason when it was ordered. The aforementioned waiter seemed to think it was funny that the chef had added it to her plate and didn't see the importance that she shouldn't have it so 'just brought it out anyway.' Certainly didn't impress me and we had to scrape it off ourselves.

This is a lovely hotel. No complaints about the food, the friendliness of the staff or the environment. But a one-night stay here is not cheap and, at the prices charged, you expect perfection or at least something close to it.So while the following criticisms may sound trivial, the price and high expectations become key factors,We arrived at 3pm only to find no-one on reception for over five minutes. There was a note on the desk explaining someone would be back soon but this was not a good start. The rooms are beautiful, clean and classy and the restaurant too is first class though I find it a little bit mean to charge supplements for certain dishes.Breakfast is waiter-served and not self-service which would be fine if it was quick. Sadly it is not. Orange juice came quickly enough but we had to wait more than ten minutes for coffee and then another ten for the hot food. This is not a criticism of the staff who were present. They were clearly rushed off their feet. More bodies are needed.I paid almost £300 for dinner, bed and breakfast for two of us. We had a further £57 to pay on checking out. Obviously, drinks were included in this additional charge but I am sure, were were not alone in being disappointed at being charged extra for certain meals, especially when the choice on the menu is not particularly extensive in the first place. To conclude, I would recommend this hotel and its restaurant to friends but that recommendation would not be an unconditional one.

We had booked Sunday lunch here and were really looking forward to it. It did not disappoint.A beautiful room and really professional and friendly service. The starters were both stunning. I had the smoked salmon with citrus and radish, which was amazing. My partner's beetroot and goats cheese salad was photogenic due to being that attractive. My main of roast sirloin with Yorkshire pudding and vegetables was very nice, but not as good as the starter. We were both full after two courses and so didn't tackle a dessert. We may have done if there had been more choice, but there were only three items per course and nothing jumped out (two of the three were ice cream and cheese).

I am left wondering how to rate this hotel. The Black Swan around the corner (I think its sister hotel) is very good as are The Star and the Pheasant hotels at Harome, so there is plenty of competition (along with others) in the close area; so what makes this place special? The short answer is I'm not sure; having an open-air swimming pool in North Yorkshire is certainly not! I got the impression of people/groups checking in for spa breaks (not sampled or reviewed here). So back to our visit, the hotel were very good and efficient in making the arrangements and the welcome was also good. The lunch menu is geared more to bar passing trade and the choices adequate without being fulsome. The presentation and quality of our choices were good. Service was efficient but not engaging. Value for money - just but only just. Will we return? Perhaps but there are other places to revisit first.

The hotel offers valet parking: as we arrived we were greeted by two gentlemen in suits offering to take bags, park car etc. I stay in hotels a lot - this is not a service that I personnally value (I know many people will). I felt that I was being stalked, rather than welcomed. The room was comfortable: like the nearby Black Swan, there was a fair bit of walking to do to get to it.The staff were courteous and profesional - yet I didn't get any real sense of welcome??The restaurant offered a limited menu - certainly if you are not a fan of fish/seafood, but the food was good: service was slow. The hotel boasts an outdoor pool and a spa: we didn't use the spa, but it did look very good indeed. We used the hot-tub and the pool in the late afternoon. Thankfully, the pool is heated!!We had a pleasant time, but I was concerned that guests were actually using real glasses brought, I think, from the main bar around the pool: surely an obvious hazrd? Our "glasses" from spa bar were, sensibly, of plastic. However, we didn't see any member of staff in the area during our time there so it was a bit untidy.Given the number of tables, sunbeds etc on site, I can imagine that it would be abit of a crush on a busy day.Overall, I think this is a decent hotel in a decent spot; I felt that perhaps the staff were paying lip service to the conceot of hospitalty - saying the right things certainly, but.....Not one I will be in any rush to revisit.

We enjoyed a very pleasant Sunday lunch. There is a limited choice of just three starters & mains but for a fixed price of £25 for three courses. We made use of the pool and soaked up some rays! Bedroom was very comfortable. We both enjoyed dinner, all the food was very well presented and tasty. It is very expensive and lots of supplements; I do think paying £9 supplement for a rib eye steak when you're already paying £48 for 3 courses is on the high side! These are Michelin prices but it's not that quality. It was a good night away but not nice enough to return.

Went in at short notice attracted by the bits of meat for two - and the food is very good. Starters excellent (my cauliflower with satay was very very good). Portion sizes also generous - the beef fed us and for sandwiches the next day. But as Yorkielass says it is expensive - London restauranteurs would look, nod appreciatively and say 'well done for charging that - wish we could'. Puddings were outstanding though - the Brillatsavarin cheesecake was stunning (what is it with Nork Yorkshire and that cheese; the Star at Harome were doing a dish with it - less well though!). In terms of ambience, staff were friendly but its a hotel dining room - all a bit subdued and quiet.

We dined here for a birthday treat and we're quite surprised at the prices as it's not a Michelin Star restaurant but having said that the food that we did have was excellent. We didn't have a starter as the one we both fancied was the scallops and at £19 a go, it was way overpriced. We had the Chateaubriand at £80 for two and it was cooked to perfection and was delicious. We shared a pudding (quite small portions) and again felt that these were a little bit expensive at £10. The place itself is fabulous, the staff were very attentive without being too much and we felt there was a nice ambience about the place. It's not somewhere we would rush back to because of the prices but it's a really nice place for a treat.

We stayed for a Spa package , one night and two spa treatments. The hotel staff were really pleasant and helpful. The staff were equally happy when we were booking and confirmations came through via email. When we got to the hotel , there is a valet service so you can drop your bags off and they will take your car to the downstairs car park.We had already booked our two spa treatments prior to arrival which is advisable as it is busy. The spa is good. Treatments were good. Outside pool was probably on the cold side but certainly okay for a swim in February. There was only one jacuzzi and this was full all of the time ( people stayed in there for a long time ).For a Hotel this size it would probably be worth considering another jacuzzi outside. Steam room / sauna were clean and good. Spa waiting area was comfortable and clean. Bedroom - with the spa package we stayed in the older part of the hotel. We were in Room 7 and it is fair to say it needs updating. The bathroom was warm and clean but nothing special. The room wasn't double glazed and we found this strange at first... but all became clearer later on ( see poor night's sleep) The supplements / extras in the bedroom were average .. we have stayed elsewhere in similar hotels and there was significantly more. Bed comfort - okay. Poor night's sleep ... room was like a sauna ! Had to open window and as we were in a room overlooking a road .. unfortunately it was noisy. In addition , the folk in the room above us seemed to be walking many steps... the noise travels right through the ceiling ! So in summary ... came for a one night chill out , spa and rest to re charge the batteries and left more tired !The hotel need to think carefully about these older rooms. In my view it is damaging their brand and having read other reviews I can see we are not alone with this feedback. Breakfast - was okay.. have to say we were disappointed the kitchen couldn't do an omelette.. didn't seem an unreasonable request given every other egg was on the menu.Overall , staff were really pleasant and good. In terms of value for money spent .. poor ! I am afraid we won't be coming back ...

I love spas, we saw a deal on travel zoo for a spa day for prosecco, lunch and a treatment with spa access for the afternoon.I arrived and I was happy with the spa, I do feel compared to other spas it does miss certain things such as an area to fully relax, there was only a small area with sofas to sit on instead of a room with day beds which I like to use following my treatment. The facial treatment I had was excellent I can't fault that part of the day but following the treatment the three hours in the spa were hard to fill. There is a heated outdoor pool but it was a few degrees too cold to spend much time in. There is also a hottub but it is only really big enough for 4 people which means that you are fighting for space with the other guests. The food in the spa bar was nice but the drinks were very expensive and we asked to see a menu for an evening meal in the feversham hotel but it was really expensive so we went into the town and ate a really nice three course meal for the same price as a main meal in the restaurant.Overall I think the spa is nice but compared to Titanic spa in Huddersfield it is vastly overpriced.

We visited last Monday for a one night stay to use the spa. The service we received from start to finish was wonderful. Our room was stunning and very homely - we felt instantly relaxed! We then spent the afternoon in the spa! It was just what we needed. The team in the spa were so lovely and accommodating especially with myself being 6 months pregnant. They really looked after us! Last but not least the food! Seasonal, fresh and completely divine. My husband is a chef and we run our own catering business so food is very important to him. It's not often that he is wowed but he was on this occasion. The scallops were cooked perfectly as was the fillet of steak and I keep lusting after the the lamb I had. The desserts we're inventive but still kept the most important qualities of what a truly good pudding should be. The staffs knowledge on wine and produce was brilliant and we could have talked to them all night! They clearly love what they do and this shows in the standard of service we received! The breakfast was yummy! And very attentive! We will definitely be back!

Arrived for a midweek overnight spa package stay without dinner between Christmas and New Year. Check in was smooth, room was nice though in need of modernisation especially the bathroom. Spa treatment and relaxation area very nice though sauna and steam room area somewhat aged and needs updating. While my 75 min treatment was lovely my partners wasn't so good. The constant droning of what sounded like a generator or vehicles didn't help. Had booked a table for dinner at 8pm. Arrived early for pre dinner drinks and showed to our table after picking our selections just after 8 pm. The service from here on in was appalling. By the time we finished dinner (3 courses) it was 10.25pm and £150 lighter in the pocket for just average food. We then thought we would have a nightcap in the bar. Waited 10 mins for someone to appear to serve us and in the end gave up and went to bed. Breakfast was a similar affair but we had already lost heart by then. Same standards so we left to go to Thomas the bakers in the square. We mentioned our disappointment at checkout, whilst the girl was very polite showed total lack of ownership and just asked if we wanted to speak to someone. We said we didn't as we saw little point in doing so. This was supposed to be a luxury relaxing treat for us which it was far from. We have stayed in 3 star hotels which provided a much better experience. We are not into making a fuss and hate complaining about poor service however after reading reviews on trip advisor felt these do not reflect our experience. Be warned seems like an over priced mixed bag.

We have recently stayed at the Feversham Arms, for 2 nights as a wedding anniversary treat. 1st impressions were excellent. Welcoming reception area, no long drawn out checking in process and we were shown to our room. We'd booked a junior suite, which have a large bedroom, lounge and double ended bath. The room also had a balcony and view of the church. We were however disappointed. when I booked several months ago, I had requested a room with a log burner and had been told this had been booked. The rooms however had been moved about & the room we booked was no longer available. The hotel were very apologetic & gave us a bottle of champagne. Such a shame as its what we,d really been looking forward to. The main reason we'd booked a suite and a log burner was to relax in the room. The spa facilities are nice, but crowded on our 1st day. I asked if there were any appointments available for an express manicure during my stay, but the spa was fully booked. So I would recommend booking in advance. We booked a dinner, bed & breakfast package which is good value if you are planning to eat at the hotel. The food & service were excellent. We ordered breakfast in the room, however I would recommend eating the restaurant. The poor person brining the food, was on his own. He bought up a tray, then had to go back for the drinks. Whilst he was gone we noticed the toast was missing, so he went back to collect that..... I then noticed the fruit compote was missing for the yoghurt, but didn't have heart to make him go back to the kitchen. The portion sizes weren't great, however the quality and presentation very good. Overall our experience has been very nice and we've had 2 very relaxing days. There have just been a few details missing/things not quite right.

Spent two nights here. One was bed and breakfast and the second night I booked a package which included overnight stay, 3course meal from Farmers menu ( normally £48) or £48 off the A la carte menu. A steak is £34. The side orders are ridiculously priced at £4.95 and a dessert is £10. The room I was allocated was lovely and quiet. There was a few minor issues: water far too hot and I'm surprised they don't have mixer taps instead of single taps. It also 'spat out' which wet me through a few times. The towel rail was loose and needed repairing. Other than this, the complimentary tea/ coffee & bathroom toiletries was good. I think they should also include plastic shower caps as I had forgotten my own, hence ending up with wet hair as the shower is very powerful, but great! Food wise, very delicious and it was evident that a lot of creativity and passion is put into the food. The portion sizes are small as it's a la carte but I still found the prices a little over the top. The same with alcohol: £8 for a small 175ml of Pinot Grigio. However, all the food I ate here was cooked to perfection. Breakfast wise it is best to stipulate if you would like two rashers of bacon, two eggs, two sausages etc, otherwise you only receive one. Spa wise, great facilities. Not overcrowded, the jacuzzi a tad too small but other than that: great outdoor pool, great steam room, sauna and relaxation area. Water and iced tea is complimentary. The two treatments I had were lovely: a great back massage and facial. One criticism here is that the therapist did not read the card I'd spent ten minutes filling in. Therefore she was asking me all the questions I'd been asked on the card. This annoyed me a little and so I asked her 'have you seen the card I filled in?' Of which she replied, 'no'. Regardless of this she did a great job of my treatments and I really enjoyed them. The staff here are very accommodating and hospitable. There's a lovely bar area with a log fire. Very relaxing. I'll def return to this hotel, but with my husband next time.

Visited on a weekday lunchtime but despite having taken trouble to book the night before, every appearance of not being prepared for our visit!Even after we managed to persuade someone to take responsibility we had to choose from quite a limited bar menu. Still the food items sounded quite promising - if at the top end of the local price range.Disappointment reigned when our snack meals arrived with a food taste at the low end of either interesting or appetising! This coupled with a bill for £100 for 4 snack meals and drinks takes our score way down. The evening service may well be infinitely better and we may try at some other time. However we will stick to lunches at the hotels in the main market place in future where our experience has been so much better!

The staff were extremely helpful and made our stay extra special here. Always ready to be helpful on our hikes, ideas for exploration and focused on listening to what would interest us. We had a room facing the street (a suite) which was comfortable and very large, Breakfast was fine and had full offerings of hot breakfast. Parking available for car. We only dined one evening, as there are many restaurants within driving distance with Michelin ratings (The Starr Inn- Harome) and The Black Swan-Oldsted). Dinner was disappointing as we noticed many customers were returning their steaks for being undercook as was ours. Seemed a little disorganized in the kitchen and wait staff which was surprising as we had seen very positive ratings on the restaurant. As a hotel, would say excellent.

Our wedding anniversary do being a caring husband, booked an overnight stay here with Mrs M so we could enjoy a meal together without worrying about who would drive home. It's not cheap. The room was OK, but ground floor main Road. Didn't get to try the heated outdoor pool as it was raining. The 6 course tasting dinner was in the main pre-prepared: salad shot, duck terrine, quenelle of crab, venison, a cheese toasty and ice creamy coulis style desert. It was OK but rather formulaic lazy cooking, and poor value by comparison with e.g. Black Swan at Oldstead. It was mainly populated with 30 something couples. Staff were very pleasant, breakfast good, and charming N.Yorks market town.

This is a lovely place but let down by how chaotic it was . I got two scones and two coffees took the scones to our table and was told the drinks would be brought across, The scones were hard ( certainly not fresh ) I had trouble biting mine I had to cut it up to eat it , it was dry , I also noticed someone took a scone back I heard the girl say it must of got mixed up with the fresh ones , ours must have been last weeks ,It was 15 minutes before we got our drinks I noticed several tables hadn't got theres either , people were going to the counter to complain by this time . Just needs a bit more organising, who wants to eat a scone without a drink !!!..on the other hand we will go again to try the Gardeners lunch which looked delicious
