The best restaurants serving British food in Chippenham Lowden and Rowden Wiltshire South West

Two couples went for afternoon tea at this lovely location and setting. Incredibly it’s close to the M4 but in a secluded and quiet village. We had a drink in the bar pre our afternoon tea, which is pleasantly furnished with comfortable seating. The afternoon tea was excellent……… Freshly made sandwiches, good range of cakes and last, but not least warm scones with more than adequate cream and jam portions. Lastly, the Staff were very friendly and helpful and extremely efficient. The lady manning the Bar, and the gentleman on Reception and serving the table were really ‘on the ball’ and made our afternoon very special.

I love this pub Went again for Sunday lunch on Mother’s Day. Brilliant as always. Beef was great, and as it was my daughter’s birthday also they had decorated the table. She was totally made up Highly highly recommend this place. You won’t be disappointed The pizza nights they do are also well worth a visit as are the fish and chips nights (if you can get a table. Make sure you book as they are very popular)

Lovely location, great atmosphere and service.

Wow - seen so many posts on social media and decided it was time to give it a try, this is 30-40 mins away for us but had a family member down and wanted a nice meal so gambled trying here, the gamble definitely paid off. From the minute we arrived the service in the restaurant was fantastic, we came on Easter Sunday and our waitress was a young blond girl with her hair tied back - she was amazing, the service was speedy, friendly and happy. The food was fantastic, 4 of us had the large carvery 1 had ham egg and chips and I had the burger, all of the food was beautiful, presented well and cooked to perfection. For pudding most of us had the homemade brownie A MUST HAVE, it was warm, gooey and contained walnuts 🤩 (not dry and cold like most places). We will 100% be back to try other food and for another carvery. Thank you to all the staff as it was very busy. The UCC coffee also beautiful

We booked for a family of four adults and making the most of the good weather we sat outside. We all had burgers, 3 beef and I had the Korean chicken which was very tasty. We also had a couple of starters, I had salt and pepper squid, a special on the day, which was very nice. Service was friendly and not overbearing. The main thing for us is gluten free and that was not an issue at all, in fact most men items seemed to be GF and a number of others were GFO. We ended up going inside as it git a bit windy but a very enjoyable a pond chilled afternoon with the music adding to the ambience. As a footnote we went back the next day as they had live music who were really good. The local was busy which was good to see.

Staff were friendly and inviting, (Emma and Micheal) were who we interacted with. Very assertive and both had attention to detail. Food was good and everything was in a timely manner.

It's cheap and cheerful but has a good selection of vegan dishes. Bit of a 60s pub feel but doesn't matter. Always good value deals on.

Bought a ‘giant’ cheese toasted sandwich today. So little cheese I couldn’t taste it. Robbery for what amounted to two pieces of dry toast!
