Ended up coming here by chance but definitely be back. Lovely food at a great price. Served by Leigh and Michael who were fab.

Amazing staff food was great value especially the £6 fish we will be definitely be back for more cheers guys amazing job.

When we went there was a delay of over 45 mins from ordering the food to it actually arriving and had to chase it up to see where it was and also very loud and obnoxious guests moving tables to try and fit in a large party, steak was asked for medium rare but arrived like boot leather and the burger was over cooked. Will not go back for a while and only use as a last resort for meals out

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Ordered 4 meals, 3 of which were steaks and 1, a vegetarian flatbread. The steaks especially were tasty, perfectly cooked and excellent value for money. Chef knew what he was doing! Will be returning soon.

Unfortunately hungry horse let me down tonight. After a hour waiting for food it was served with cold beans one sausage..fatty bacon the egg so runny I thought it had a cold. And then insult to injury no TOAST but what can only be described as hash browns made out of smash .. Matthew I never left with a smile on my face.😔 Normally love eating here but tonight's experience makes me reconsider.

Went for a relatives birthday, food was lovely and was hot, problem 1 member of staff (Amy) the poor girl was the only one working the bar, taking food orders, bringing food out from kitchen, clearing tables and making coffee, she was off her feet, she did a stirling job and is a real credit to you, but you need to review your staffing policies, to much waiting time which was no way Amy,s fault.

Food was amazing service was good. But considering its always so busy think its so wrong especially when big bookings are coming in that you only have one chef and one staff member expected to cope? But well done today to Amy and the chef they did us proud with smiley faces 🤗but management need to rethink staffing issues as plenty of people are walking out because one person can't cope ? Your making good profits so employ some staff and pay them what they deserve

Popped by on the off chance that they may have a table free as it was Mother's Day and yes they did. On the menu there is an extensive range of meals ranging from Baguettes to Steaks, Burgers to Vegetarian options and plenty more.. To order food and drinks you need to go to the bar and considering it was busy, our order was taken pretty quickly and the food was delivered around 30 minutes later. All 4 adult meals were ample and delicious. Definitely recommend the food.

Regular visitors to this pub, as usual, the large Sunday roast was excellent, generous portions. The gammon is to die for, can't fault it in any way, coupled with superb service.

A relaxed and budget friendly Christmas day lunch, we all left full and satisfied. I wish there were more vegetarian options other than the one per starter and main.

We popped in on the 10th of December for some lunch with my family and what can I say the staff was very polite and helpful. It was very busy but a waitress called codie still manged seat us. The food was cooked to standard and was very hot. Will definitely be coming back. Thank you to the staff for a great experience.

After waiing 55 mins for food. It was not even tepid. Sent my megga mixed grill back.... came back 5 mins later after being reheated in microwave. My rare steak was like shoe leather, gammon was meh, egg was now hard peas like bullets chips and onion rings limp and soggy . Who reheats chicken!!!! And expects a customer to eat it !!! Sausages were given to husband. His ultimate combo... scampi was cold as was most of the other stuff. He dosnt mind tepid food.. We have eaten here before and the food was great. If i could give zero stars i would.

Is a standard pub style restaurant, with food options for all ages. The deal options for each day of the week are great value especially for the large portion size you receive.

Of the last five visits to eat we have ended if going somewhere else . Excuses for not serving food include staff shortages equipment failure etc. Today we tried to order a Sunday lunch at six o’clock only to be told they had run out completely and it would be at least an hour wait for any sort of food .We have eaten here for several years and was a reasonable cheap pub to eat . Told the kitchen had been closed between 3 and 5 pm. We arrived at about 4.50pm. We were told initially that we would have a 45 minute wait. Although we had young children with us and a child with learning disabilities we felt that wasn't too bad we could live with that. Then when we were putting the order in they said that the wait would now be 60 minutes. We were not happy but though we are here now we might as well wait. When the food came, eventually over an hour we had waited, one of the children's meals was not correct and had to be sent back to change. The chicken wasn't real chicken it was tasteless and rubbery. The smoked bacon was hard to find and only just tasted of smoked. Most of the first choices were not available so our choices had to be changed.The service was not that good either. Although local to us this is not somewhere we will ever go again nor will ever recommend it to anyone else.

Came for food - chicken was rubbery and watery and not piping hot. Bacon had more fat than bacon on it, toast was burnt and cold, no care had been put into the presentation. Ridiculously over charged for what we got.

Our 4th visit. First time food was cold. 2nd time was ok. 3rd time kitchen closed - no staff 4th time half empty and 90 min wait for food which we were not told.

We have tried to eat here for the past few weeks only to be told each time that there on a limited menu due to staff shortage. Why would the limited number of staff alter the amount of food on offer. We live across the road from this pub and used to eat here on a regular basis but even when we have eaten here the food has been awful and asked the staff to recook the meals. Even a simple hot baguette or wrap comes out cold. I would advice people to avoid this restaurant and go elsewhere.

I was served by Chloe she was so bubbly and happy , I then came across these two lady’s who entered the bar and after less than 1 minuted expectedly to be served when there was several people waiting , she was in the middle of serving a customer when they shouted at her “ dose anyone work here” ? And continued to dig at the bar staff until they was served ,Chloe and the bar staff was doing a great job and for her not to say anything was great customer services I nearly said something to her my self , in my opinion there can’t be one member of staff per person , Chloe did a great job and I will be returning, her enthusiasm is awesome and I feel very welcome here :)

I have normally just driven by, not giving a thought to going inside. A friend arranged for us to meet and eat here. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was good pub grub, with plenty of great deals. Worth a visit.

Have been visiting The Rowden Arms for at least five years and have always had a great meal. Today we both had the large plate roast chicken meal priced at £7! For our money we got three chicken breasts, loads of roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, huge Yorkshire pudding, lots of vegetables and tasty gravy. The food was all perfectly cooked and came to the table piping hot. The Rowden Arms is in need of re decoration but I cannot fault their food at all.

We had a good meal, gammon and a burger. Food turned up quickly and we were served at the bar quickly but the place was freezing cold, most customers were sat with hats and coats on. Staff were apologetic but it was so cold I felt sorry for them as well.

Me and my husband and kids had a busy day in Bristol so we pop in for a meal and everything was perfect staff was lovely coral Chloe and Matthew don't know who chef was but 10/10 curry sauce was perfect keep it up guys

Food was cold! They had lost the key to the baby changing so had to change a 10 month old baby on the dirty toilet floor! When asked if they could put the heating on was told it was as high as it would go yet the radiators were stone cold and we were all sat with our coats on. Couldn’t drink the pints as they tasted awful so had to just drink bottles. We will never be visiting this place again!!!

The only reason I give this a one star was because I had to. The only thing they managed to get right was pushing the button for it a coke. Burger I just gave up on as it was missing the items and overcooked took quite a while to get food but yet it seemed like the chefs had enough time to be out at the bar chatting. I am not a chef and do not work in the food industry but I am sure the state that the man and the girl that came out of the kitchen during our visit Really made me glad I couldn’t eat my food and I do wonder what condition of the kitchen if they think it is acceptable for the chefs to be looking like that.

Stopped in with the family to the Rowden for a a quick dinner with wife and kids. It was not a quick meal at all 2 main meals and 3 kids meals took an hour the staff where rude and just did not Seem to care at all about the fact that we had three young children with us even try to compromise and ask if they could just send the children meals so it would settle them but this seemed to be too much to ask for. The food when it did arrive was a absolute joke and to be honest I don’t even think my dog could of eaten it. The chicken you could do used as a hammer I honestly do not know how it was cooked as it was so dry and hard and burnt the cheese was not melted just slapped on top. The kids meals where fried to a crisp and not able to be eaten by any of them the kids. The plates were so hot the waitress had to use a tea towel to put them down surely this was a indicator that that was not suitable for young children.there is no customer service at all. we ended up just leaving and going to McDonald’s. I could not even be bothered to complain and just wanted to go get the kids fed and in to bed. I did go up to the bar and what I assumed to be the manager on the bar dealing with another complaint so I decided just to cut my losses and go.This is the Worst visit to the Rowden Arms we have ever experienced and to be honest probably worst visit to any restaurant I have ever Had. I don’t know if the new chefs if so get rid of them. Even the atmosphere has all changed in there. we will not be coming back again and the only recommendations I will be given this to stay away. WHAT is going on in this place mr greeneking McDonald’s out doing you.

Good food, good value and staff were nice. Waitress Chloe was attentive and helpful and chef Kieran cooked it nicely. If you want gourmet food go elsewhere but at £9 for two courses i have no complaints.

We waited for our food for well over an hour then asked a passing waiter if we had been forgotten, to which he shrugged and said ‘yes probably’! He then went away for a while and came back saying they would cook our food straightaway but we were fed up by then and asked for a refund. This was a nightmare and took the staff ages to sort out, plus they berated the waiter in front of us for his attitude which was excruciatingly embarrassing! I sent a message via their website complaining and received no reply.

You get what you pay for so I don’t expect anything amazing better then Wetherspoons is Chippenham child friendly

Just visited the local Hungry Horse in Chippenham and felt i wanted to write this review!. Thank goodness someone is turning this around. We have avoided this place for about a year as food was so awful so took a chance pop in today and were very very pleased with our meal. Great polite service and welcome by Assistant manager Chris Bourne and Waitress Chloe Bell was working brilliantly and efficiently waiting on busy tables, cleaning tables, straightening chairs ready for next diners and being very polite and friendly towards everyone even whilst rushing to serve everyone. Clearly she is an asset and working hard to keep everything clean, tidy and served (all by herself!! i noticed). Food arrived with a lovely salad swap instead of chips with my Chicken New Yorker and was a great tasting meal , a year ago it would of arrived cold, with a pathetic salad drenched in nasty dressing but today was a delight well done to the new Chef Kieran Clark. I don't usually write reviews but well done new management and great staff....you will turn this place round in no time if you keep up the hard work because.........us customers do notice and by word of mouth we will all be flocking back !

Went for a meal last night (Tuesday) and fed the whole family of four for £15.00. The meals (2 adult and 2 children) were fabulous. Adults had steak and ale pie and fish and chips. Kids had hot dog chips and fish gougons and chips. The price also included a whopping great ice cream dessert served up in a huge glass with four spoons. The service was good too, Lucy and Kieran ensured we were looked after. The only down side is the place looks very tired and shabby and i know from previous visits that service can be poor when the place gets busy. Good advice though, go on a Tuesday when its quiet around 8pm and treat the family for just 15 pounds! Thanks hungry horse!

Called in to the Rowden Arms for a family meal after a great day out at Longleat ...very big mistake we ordered and paid for our meals after paying got told they didn’t have half of the food we had paid for ..we also had 4 teas but they only had 1 tea spoon to share and thought it was funny we had to re order our food they didn’t even have basic food like sausages and after waiting 50 minuets our food came out my meal was just warm but didn’t even look appetising one bit my daughters meal which was beef had a green tint to it couldn’t eat it etc the whole place was run down the carpet was dirty with food on it the bar had no Carling larger there was shouting in the kitchen ...if you fancy a meal I would find another hungry horse somewhere else the whole experience spoiled a great day out ...we did get a small refund but not enough to justify the disgusting meals ..it just seemed the place was run by unprofessional people or by people that had no clue in the food industry....this is the first bad review I have ever written and I hope it’s the last ....

Had an amazing Christmas dinner today. The staff were exceptional. Booked in for the 3 course Christmas dinner and definitely made our Christmas Day more enjoyable. For a cheap eatery the food was very good quality and tasty! I shall be returning more regular. Had a good conversation with the management and it was lovely to get to know them.

I spent 30 years flying the world. I ate in some of the best Hotels and Restaurants and I have never had a better cooked Rump Steak anywhere as I did in the Rowden Arms on the 14th Dec 2017. Also the waitress was efficient and nice. I complemented the Chef Laura and the waitress Lucy.

Had Sunday lunch with family on 17.12.2017 and it was the worse meal I’ve ever had anywhere.Asked to see the manager but they wouldn’t see me so sent a junior member of staff who refused to refund my money..Most of the food went back to the kitchen..Avoid this place..ps I wasn’t allowed to give zero rate on here..

I am not one to complain but it was the worst exsperience of a meal out we have ever had. The food wait was told to be 30mins but we waited for 1 1/2 hour. We then got our food all at different times. One meal was served to the table cold, this was complained about and the whole plate was put into the microwave and given back to the preganant customer. When we asked if this was fresh the waitress lied and said "yeh" then walked off. There was no sorry or apology for the cold meal in the first place. One meal was missing some of its extras and when asked the waitress "grunted" il go get them. She brought them back out in her bare hand.

Dispute catering for large Christmas parties, we were made very welcome. There was a small mistake on the order but Jenn and George both sorted it quickly and efficiently. Will definitely return

I visited with a few of my friends recently and we really enjoyed the customer service as well as the food. I had a meal from their light bites section and it was very nice whereas my friends chose to have burgers which looked very appetising. The girl on the bar was very cheerful and had a nice conversation with us.

Cold food bad customer service no check back portion size was appalling think it was bad that us as paying customers didn't even get a change to say how bad the food was as bad no check back and this is not the first time this has happen in the last month

After being told there was a 40minute wait for food when ordering, the food finally appeared over an hour later!!! And was disappointing to say the least. Others were waiting and also complaining demanding refunds. Apparently they had staffing issues!!!

Simple menu, friendly staff, expectation management.....it’s not an al-a-carte restaurant. 1* ratings?? Pedantic.....it’s clean, sells beer/wine, and you get more food for your money than anywhere else!

We came here back in the summer as previously it had been good value for money. The summer visit was disgusting in both food and service. Today we thought we would give it another chance and had to wait an hour for what basically equates to a microwave dinner. Not impressed. Told the manager and he wasn't that fussed, no offer of a refund despite the fact that we did not eat our food. You've lost what was previously a loyal customer. After giving a second chance I can honestly say we WILL NOT be back!
