We regularly visit The Salt Pig in Wareham as it's simply the best in town. Perfect for Breakfast, Lunch or just coffee and cake. All the food is locally sourced which is very important to us. All the staff are really friendly and extremely hard working. The food is always delicious and fresh and what about the Sunday Roasts...Woweee!! Just theeeee best. I can probably say it's the best eat out roast I've had, hand down!! We love it here. Ps we buy all our locally sourced meat from the in house butcher as well. Superb!!!

We are regular visitors to the Seventh Wave restaurant. The food, large fish and chips was as good as ever. The fish was haddock in a lovely batters with good chips as well. The service was good and very friendly and the meals nice and hot. All in all the standard of this unpretentious restaurant remains very high. There are many restaurants that would do well to come here and see how it should be done. Another point is that they do not add a service charge on the bill. There is a tip jar on the counter and if you do come here then please consider using it.

A few years have passed since our last visit, I understand the pub has changed hands since. Some anecdotal observations from locals made us book another visit . We had a table for four on a Wednesday evening , and pretty much had the restaurant side of the pub to ourselves, enjoying the smell of the log fire as we entered. Service was exemplary, exactly the right cutlery for everyone’s orders, prompt drink replenishment and on hand at every moment. All the staff conducted themselves cordially yet professionally. The food was Supurb. Starters of two Mussels dishes, one in garlic and cream and another , a different take with cider and bacon , which was outstanding. How has nobody ever offered mussels like this before ? The ham hock terrine from the specials menu was another stand out dish. Mains of fillet steak, cooked to different tastes yet still to perfection and served with varying sauces were absolutely top notch . All accompanied by chunky chips and a well seasoned and well cooked mushroom. All followed up with some lovely desserts and a healthy amount of Dorset gold beer. We enjoyed a wonderful meal at the Cock and Bottle. There is nothing I can think of that could be improved. Brilliant !

This was our first time here and I had a “cowshed” breakfast and my wife had a “calf” breakfast - the “cow shed” was a larger breakfast with 2 eggs, 2 bacon and a hash brown along with baked beans and vine tomatoes mushrooms and toast and butter The staff are friendly and helpful We will return

I was part of a very large pre booked running group- we were all very hungry upon arrival! We were catered for superbly with a number of delicious breakfasts, coffees and drinks brought to us promptly. The food looked and tasted lovely; the atmosphere perfect for a Christmas social and then there were the cakes! Wow! Despite feeling full, a number of us bought the delicious cake on offer which was kindly packaged up in a take-away box for later by the staff- a wonderful morning had by all.

Ordered main meals and drinks for 4. Asked for either sliced bread or bap burger bun in the side, which I was happy to pay for. They refused. They did have them in stock for breakfast sandwiches and burgers but wouldn’t sell me any. Very annoying. Burgers and fish and chips ordered was quite tasty.

We bought this as a belated birthday gift for my MIL, after the last couple of years we were very much looking forward to it. Unfortunately, as we arrived we were told that we would be stationary for the majority of the meal as the driver had been working all day and will now be over hours. We stated that this is not what we had paid for and all we were told was “they were trying their best”. We were fine with accepting that it would be a diesel train instead of a steam train due to the heatwave, but to sit in a hot carriage with a view of Swanage’s finest COOP was not the experience we were expecting. We feel poor planning by the organisers if they are reliant on only 1 or 2 drivers for an event that had to be booked months in advance. We spent over £200 for this much awaited birthday gift and the only compensation we got was just £10 off our bar bill. Would not recommend this line. Also, do not choose the crumble, it came burnt and is served dry with no cream/custard/ice-cream.
