Nice to find somewhere open this time of year. Pasty and coffee nice. Cakes looked good too. Had a pasty takeaway from there because the Square snd Compass pub was just too busy. It was a shame there was no seating inside. Luckily it was not raining and we sat by the pond.

We bought 4 cream teas. We got 1 dry, stale scone each with too much cream and jam already spread on top, with milky lukewarm tea in takeaway cups. I should have taken them back. It was very poor. This place is not a shadow of what it was before the pandemic when the cream teas were the best and served at tables in their garden. I'll never eat here again.

We stopped yesterday to buy drinks. The setting is beautiful and the small hatch that the food and drink is served from is very pretty and everything looks well presented. However- I brought 3 cans of fizzy drink and the bill came to £7.50??? I am not sure how these prices can be justified?

This place is a great spot. We had the pleasure of using the Tea Rooms as our little take away for a few days (as it is not open for seating service dur to lock down) and we were not disappointed. We have very high standards and are usually pretty hard to please, but not here. The coffee is excellent as was everything else we had. Pastries and brownies were soo good and the veggie pasties were the best I have eaten (and I have tried plenty). We also had a fully delivered meal from here and it was fabulous, a really inventive Gnocci dish that I will try my best to replicate (badly!). Diana looks after the place and Dave is the chef, they are also really kind and nice people. If you are ever in Worth Matravers...or close by...do yourself a favour a nd pay this gem a visit. You will not be disappointed.

We absolutely love it here, we come here every time we’re in Swanage. Cream tea is delicious and lovely atmosphere. A cream tea for two and a hot chocolate and a large slice of cake for our daughter came to £17.75 which is well worth it! Lunch menu also available however we visit for the fruit scones (plain are available too) and a selection of loose leaf tea, you can’t go wrong!

Our family just enjoyed a sumptious lunch at the tea rooms, much needed after a brisk walk . Menu is full of local produce and gives old lunch time favourites a twist. We enjoyed Goats cheese with salad, venison burgers and beef in red wine sauce. Puddings were equally good. Reserve a place, because this can be busy. Would love to come again for afternoon tea.

Recently visited with my partner as we wanted a scone with clotted cream and jam. The place was lovely really cosy and great decor. The menu was a bit confusing and the waitress didn't explain well, the tea was pretty naff one bag served in a big pot which was enough for two people. But, the scones were lovely and still warm. Only other criticism was that the staff were playing with a dog which seemed to live there but didn't see any of them wash their hands in between serving.

What a find! The restaurant has 4 or 5 quaint tables in corners of a small patio garden and a similar number of larger ones inside. The menu was varied, with several fish dishes and vegetarian too - a couple suitable for my Vegetarian gluten free partner. Delicious and served up in a slightly bohemian atmosphere. Friendly, relaxed and wonderful on the sunny day we had.

Oh my what an amazing place, found by accident and didn’t disappoint. Had a very nice range of non alcoholic beverages and very different to the normal pop! The lunch menu was very different and quirky, combinations of food, I would never have thought would go together but they did and did really well. Staff were all lovely and very down to earth. None were shy or sharp, all smiling and seemed to really enjoy working there and with each other. It wasn’t cheap but I’d prefer to pay more and thoroughly enjoy the whole experience. A big up to the chef, fantastic food and presentation, he’s another one who enjoys his work. A must visit, absolutely glorious.

Having read the reviews we managed to plan our walk so that we could finish at the tearoom in the middle of the afternoon (they have fairly limited opening hours). It's in a quaint building opposite the village green with a nice garden out the back. In addition to the scones and cakes they sell a range of local produce. The fruit scone and clotted cream were excellent but the stand out option was the chocolate chip scone with chocolate sauce. This came with a rich hot chocolate covered in mini marshmallows. It can get busy so try to book if you can. The mobile reception in the area is very poor so try to ring ahead.

This tea & supper room is an iconic vintage replica of tearooms I remember as a child. The ambience is perfect, with vintage china on every shelf and beam, the background music recalls the light programme of the 50s. The second room, up some steps, opens into a beautiful garden also with tables. Even the outside loo is worth a visit for its vintage decor. The owner and staff make a great team & are calm and friendly. The food is delicious with a range of choices and specials. The cream tea is bar none, fab scones and delicious blackberry & apple jam. They also sell fine quality local produce, jams, relishes, eggs, bread, heritage tomatoes.

Wow. By far the best garden we have ever been in to have a late lunch and cream tea. And the welcome was lovely, only matched by the service we received from the girl with the most fantastic hair style. What a stunning place. The menu was interesting and varied, it had some great afternoon snacks on offer although you could argue they were a little pricey in parts. And the cream tea was fantastic. But stay around a while, drink tea in what is a haven of a garden with small tables hidden away in the various corners with everyone else out of sight.

My wife and I enjoyed an excellent cream tea here over bank holiday Monday. Fresh homemade scones with local jam and clotted cream was just what we needed after our long walk. This little tea room being so popular gets very busy, so we made sure to phone ahead and book a table to avoid missing out as we guessed they’d probably be very full that day. Staff were warm and welcoming despite being rushed off their feet, making us feel right at home with a beautiful garden table and all our needs catered to. Don’t do what we did, and cut your other activities short to make a special trip to this tea room, as the likelihood is that you will get turned away at the door. We arrived 45 mins before closing time, and were on our way to one of the empty tables in the garden when we were ejected, under the pretence that all empty tables were reserved for guests who were yet to arrive. Whilst 45 mins is plenty of time to enjoy a cup of tea and a scone, we think it’s unlikely that anyone booking ahead would have deliberately booked a table 30 mins before closing. They obviously just didn’t want our custom, and had no qualms about turning away a family of six (including grandparents and children), who had clearly made a special trip to the tea rooms, given that it is out of the way, and there is no other reason to visit the village. I would recommend going to a more welcoming and friendly tea room. (At least we weren’t physically man-handled out of the door into the street, as happened to another reviewer).

Our recent week in Dorset included some unusually good weather apart from the day we set out up walk with our dog to Worth Maltravers from Swanage. Nearly two hours in we got there soaked through and cold. Not really expecting a welcome we sought refuge in the Worth Maltravers Tea and Supper Rooms and it was lunchtime. Not only did we receive a friendly welcome but we were sat by the fire and I was provided with a tee shirt by the owner belonging to her husband so that I could eat comfortably. The menu was far more elaborate for lunch than we expected but all sounded delicious. Indeed the food was sublime, well presented and held layers of flavour. Venison sausages with bubble and squeak, roast parsnip, potatoes and green beans with a sublime jus - fantastic. Lemon pot with raspberry compote snd meringue- divine. What can say - surroundings, people, food and service all beyond five stars!! And to our fellow diners from across the lane - sorry but thanks for being so kind and friendly. Would we up back? We happened upon this tearooms after a visit to the local pub. We mistakenly wandered in and looked for a table which is frowned upon as you have to be seated. We were found a reserved table for 3 hours later and allowed to have this as we said we would not be that long. Cream teas arrived and yes the crockery was old and pretty but I did not expect a big black crack to run from the lip of my cup to the bottom. Cups were transferred from the tray to our saucers using all of the fingers and thumb around the drinking area. Surely this is not part of the hygiene rating requirement. The scone was a strange brown colour and to my mind had very little flavour. On our way out another party of four had made the same mistake and walked on in. They were asked to go and wait by the door. Not a very welcoming experience. This was such a shame as the location and the garden seating area was lovely.

We absolutely love this tea room. The tea and scones are superb and the service excellent. There is a huge choice of teas if you like something different. The small walled garden is a delight. In our opinion there is no better place to enjoy...

We’ve been to the Worth Matravers tea and supper rooms a number of times and it is always superb. Fresh fish, local ciders and even a chocolate cream tea. Service is friendly and prompt. Decor is delightfully mismatched vintage. Always a pleasure.

Beautiful scones, cream and jam. All tasted home made and scones served warm. Coffee was rich and strong, and tea served in a proper teapot. Made very welcome. Highly recommended.

Sunday lunch (roast beef, or smoked haddock) was absolutely delicious. The kids nearly took the pattern off the beautiful vintage crockery. The welcome was relaxed and warm even though we arrived with snowy boots and a dog. It felt like home. Couldn’t have asked for...

Eaten here several times and always been impressed with both the quality of the food and the friendly service. The place is small and quirky but with loads of local character. Best food in the Purbecks without a doubt and close to the best Pub...

Been visiting here for many years with my family and it is always a pleasure. Great staff and food. The sun always seems to shine when we visit so sit in the garden and enjoy the coffee and scones. See you again very soon.

We ate here on a Saturday night and had booked well in advance. The food was good with a non-standard menu. The dessert choice was unusual but they were good too. The service was good.

Bloody brilliant. Food and ambience superb. Service with a smile. Superb plaice and monkfish Thai curry. The desserts are all made by the chef. We had a pavlova but look forward to coming back for the chocolate torte. Very underrated restaurant of the highest echelon.

Fab food for my sons party...at a great price. The staff couldn't do enough. Great location. There was enough food to feed hungry bellies and it was delivered hot and at the time requested. Well done!

What a gem of a place. Happy friendly staff, who couldn't do more for us. We booked a table of 7 but had an extra person turn up and it was no problem. 3 vegans and a dairy/nut allergy sufferer, but so much choice, and help from the staff to find the right food. The portion sizes were insane and the cakes were out of this world! Cannot rate highly enough, we really enjoyed it all. Can't wait to come back (if you'll have us, sorry for the chaos)!

So for years we’ve been saying that we must try Mortons. It took our gorgeous friend Rosie Thurgood starting to work here to prompt us to visit. The Sunday lunch menu is incredible. Beautifully executed food and great value. Service of course faultless.
