The Weld Arms in Purbeck

Absolutely loved this gem of a pub which catered SO well for Gluten Free (my husband is coeliac) and was delicious. we loved it so much we went two days in a row and brought our friends too. Thank you for providing an incredible range of safe GF options!

We had a meal here a few days ago and it was utterly brilliant! Excellent service, lovely setting, and delicious food. We will 100% be back and thoroughly recommend.

Just had lunch cooked by Mark the chef who joined a couple of months ago. He is definitely stamping his mark on the menu. delicious and balanced crispy duck salad and well executed pheasant with rich red cabbage. And he's friendly and open to feedback. Great lunch thank you. As always friendly and great service. In the summer tried one of the new Wood smoked pizzas. Fantastically cooked by Nigel and really tasty. A really good pizza. Recommended.

We booked for a meal for 14 for a friends 60th Birthday. Despite traffic problems and some arriving later than expected the team delivered a seamless service and went above and beyond to provide a beautiful dessert for our vegan birthday girl. I can't recommend this place highly enough

Lovely evening meal with my 2 friends. I liked the menu as it had enough choice without being too extensive, plus the specials added enough variety. I had the venison steak (from the specials) which was tender and delicious, with a good portion of chips, tomato, and onions. Nice friendly service. I marked down the atmosphere as we had a loud table next to us - but it did not detract from the overall experience. My friends also enjoyed their meals of vegan burger and lamb rump.

We had some lovely food in here.service was fab and attentive and food was prompt. I had the gf tempura prawns and they have to be the best gluten free ones I've had. Great eatery if you are staying near lulworth cove.

Had a lovely Sunday Lunch here. Staff were great; friendly and efficient, our dogs were welcome, all the food was excellent … we’ll definitely be back.

What place tell you that Yorkshire puddings are only for those people that have booked? We went for Sunday lunch and popped in on the off chance. Had to queue to place our order only ro be told there were no Yorkshires. Asked for a substitute and was told no. Once we had got our meal, the next tables meal came out with Yorkshires! It was a total shambles. I will not be going there again.

Great location and lovely food. They have a massive garden area and it's my compulsory stop whenever I am around the Lulworth area.

On holiday in Dorset and booked a table at the Weld Arms for our evening meal. We were not disappointed, the quality of the food was exceptional, great service and a lovely atmosphere. Compared to other pubs in the area we felt the Weld Arms was good value.

Unbelievable..... absolutely amazing..... friendly staff...... delicious food....... delicious beer.....I wish I could get there again......on the second visit, although it was heavy rain, friendly and so much comfortable 👍👍👍👍👍

Awesome Sunday Lunch - couldn't fault The Weld - squeezed us in last minute for Sunday lunch, superb food, fantastic service and beautiful surroundings. Very reasonably priced, and good draught IPA. Highlight of our weekend in Dorset!

The weld arms is a lovely quaint little place. We stopped for some ice cream and chips which were both very nice and the staff here were super lovely.

We had a group of 25 for dinner at the weld and they provided a lovely service. Communication prior to the event was really good and reassuring. On the evening the food was great and served punctually. The staff went out of their way to offer an amazing evening. We are looking forward to returning next year and want to say thank you to everyone at the Weld.

Would totally recommend the Weld Arms. Went today for the first time, a party of 14 of us. I had the roast beef which was excellent. Everyone agree that the food was really good. I didn’t have dessert but they looked incredible. Lovely pub with lots of inside and outside space with friendly staff.

Lovely food, great staff, dog friendly, comfy vouchers to sit after the meal... Not a lot to improve on!

Had a great meal at this friendly pub - great decor and atmosphere, food was excellent (seabass was great and they had good gluten free fish and chips too!) And very family friendly as we came with our small baby (good changing facilities which is hard to find!)

What a lovely place! I visited today with four others after a walk round the Sculptures at the Lake nearby. It's a real old fashioned English pub. Delicious local beer, fabulous bacon and brie open sandwich, and the man on duty who was rushed off his feet (due to circumstances he explained) and working on his own, still served us efficiently and with good grace. Definitely recommend.

We boked late in the day, on line, and that's probably why we were sat alone in a side room. Its not their fault I suppose but it slightly detracted from our enjoyment of the whole evening, we did not have much of an atmosphere. That aside, the food was really good as they have a chef who clearly knows how to cook, the staff friendly and the overall price reasonable. We shall come back but will make sure that we do not dine alone by booking far earlier and ensuring where we sit!

For our first trip to the Jurassic Coast in May, I booked this place for lunch as it's on the way to Durdle Door. I am glad we went because the Weld Arms turned out to be the best 'eating out' meal we had on the whole trip! The fish and chips are the second-best we've had in the UK and are extremely generous in portion size. Sorry, the best we've had is still at a place in St Ives ; ) The kids also ordered fish and chips from their kids meal menu. I thought I would give this a special mention because we were really impressed with the kids meal version of the fish and chips. They were cooked to the same high standard as the adult version, with a large portion of fish that would have been enough to feed an adult actually. The staff were attentive as well, so all in all, a really enjoyable lunch.

Fantastic food an great place to stop

It was a Bank Holiday Sunday and it was not busy and the Front of House staff did not have a clue what day of the week it was. We where a party of 4 and that could not decide were to seat us, so they decided to put us on a table set 3 and never brought other set of cutlery until the meal came out after asking several times, we found a dirty fork on the floor under the table. It was not clear if it was table service or we order the food at the bar, we ordered at the bar after no one coming over after 15 min. They never brought out any condiments even though we asked twice. I must admit the service was shocking which is a shame as the food/meal was outstanding.

A super nice restaurant, inside and outside. Arrived here after a visit to Lulworth Castle. The service was friendly and courteous and the food was brought to the table quickly. The burgers were good and also came with a decent portion of fries. A mustardy sauce was served with it, which also tasted good. Fish & chips were also good. All in all 4 stars!

Stopped for Sunday lunch and opted for the beef roast dinner. Everything on the plate was cooked to perfection and was delicious.

Lovely pub, have had lunch here a few times but this time was a birthday supper. Delicious food and nice beers / wines. Staff and service friendly. Specials too but they go quick!

We just dropped in for lunch after a long drive on a busy Easter weekend but the friendly welcome and stunning pub food made it a pleasure. We sat outside where there were plenty of tables and the food was delivered quickly despite the demand. Plenty of parking, dog friendly, not too pricy. We'll worth a visit.

Extremely expensive for the amount of food... £4 for a bowl of chips, which was a very very small portion... I guess a Lulworth location can charge anything for very little...

Lovely pub found by chance in the way to Durdle Door. Great Sunday lunch. The beetroot cured trout also very good.

Went here for evening dinner, did not disappoint. Despite it's out of the way location clearly have great chefs and quality ingredients, the steak I had was cooked perfectly and always good when the sauce is included rather than having to add and pay separately, I hate that in places. Overall great food and service so know where to eat if visiting the area again!

Great venue. Been there for many roasts and sunny afternoon drinks. Extremely disappointing meal this evening Tempura prawns were basically prawns in batter not even with a chilli sauce. Scallops were so overcooked stuck to shells had to scrape them off. Mains. Pork belly resembled crème brûlée with no crispy skin. Musells ok but had better. Staff great but no one acted upon our complaint. I'd save it if for a fantastic Sunday roast. Shame.

We stopped for Sunday lunch and the food was amazing, probably the most perfectly cooked scallops I’ve eaten and the roast was sensational, beautiful medium rare beef, roasted lamb and the veg, roasties and gravy were just so tasty, i can’t recommend highly enough and we will definitely return, cider was lush and the service was friendly and attentive

Both times we've been, it was surprisingly quiet and it's mainly for that reason that the atmosphere was a bit lacking. I would guess in the Summer, there's a bit more of a buzz. The place looks like it's had an extensive refurb, nicely done. Some local food on the menu that was good. Palmers beer is excellent.

Our lunch was great.. a plentiful selection of vegetables well cooked.. I choose the Mushroom Wellington.. which was delicious but felt the portion size was small compared to the amount of beef and venison on others plates. A larger slice with less potatoes would seem better value for money.

Called after a visit to Lulworth Castle. Riaring fire and lunches looked really good, blackboard with plenty of choice. Great garden outside too. Very impressed. Wished to treat our family who live in Dorset but unfortunately they do not do Gift vouchers.

Booked a table for my sons 21st, service and food fantastic. Highly recommended this lovely pub.

We were driving past and dropped in here for lunch on the off chance. We only had a simple lunch but it was fabulous. The atmosphere within is really welcoming although the outside does not do it justice. This is very much a case of if you know what is within, you will go back time and time again!

Lovely pub with exceptional food. We came for dinner, liked it so much came back for lunch two days later.

I visited this pub twice recently, once for a pint and snack with friends, once for lunch. Ambience, food, service, beer all very good. The only drawback on both occasions was the loud piped music which made holding a conversation without shouting quite difficult!

Absolutely wonderful Sunday Lunch, we all had the beef and it was superb, haven’t had a bigger Yorkshire pudding for ages. Staff superb nothing too much trouble for them, will definitely come back. Top Notch.

This Pub is fabulous never ceases to amaze me with their cuisine especially their Roasts and the best Venison (locally sourced) Burger I have ever tasted thoroughly recommend this establishment. Staff very welcoming as well.

The service was fantastic, everyone was warm and friendly and the area to sit outside is brilliant with a covered tarp for the unpredictable british weather! I had the beef brisket (it was divine!!) and my partner had the venison burger which was equally lush. You could tell that really cate was taken with the food and there was a great sense of pride about the place. They were also super lovely about allergies as well. Would highly recommend!

We had lunch here one day as came across the pub/restaurant by chance as we arrived for a weeks stay in nearby Lulworth Cove. Lunch was superb. We already had dinner booked here for later in the week. Dinner was also superb. Definitely recommend.

Fantastic place to eat after a lovely day in Lulworth and Durdle Door. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Lovely and calm outside area. We had the venison burger and the chicken from the kids menu. The food was delicious. The crème brulé was a dream. We will definitely go back there when visiting Lulworth Castle again.

If they have mussels, get them. They were by far some of the best mussels we’ve had. Ridiculously fresh, large and DELICIOUS! By far the best thing we ate there. Venison burger was also done well and the sea bass was tasty. Great experience and perfect pub off the beaten path.

We had a bloody good time, very warm and bubbly staff who welcomed our laughing all through the afternoon. They have great windows, esp the nook with the orange pillows and gorgeous fresh flowers decorating the tables. Delicious food came really quickly, had a mix of prawns, amazing scallops (would highly recommend), fish and chips and lemon meringue pie and ciders.

Lots of choices not available but that happens. Table not wiped clean,food coming out at different times. The service from staff was extremely poor .

Don't pay attention to the signs outside! Four of us turned up at 3:30pm last Sunday to eat (food is served 12-4pm on a sunday). After initially being told that we could eat, the bartender returned from the kitchen to tell us that they were "out of food". In my 10yrs experience of running pubs it's more likely that the chef had already cleaned down and wasn't expecting any walk ins, I could be wrong though, but I doubt it. A shame because it looks like a great pub!

My wife arranged a visit here for father's day. It was amazing; great location, lovely food and atmosphere. We will be back

Ate here twice on my week away and can honestly say I take my hats off to the chef/ chefs. The tastiest food I’ve ever had! So many different flavours and well thought out recipes. Wish this was my local

Drove the beautiful scenic road from Wareham to Lulworth and called in to The Weld Arms for lunch and drinks. We have been here a few times as we are quite local to this venue and each visit really enjoyed great food in a relaxed atmosphere. Although a warm sunny day, we decided to eat inside which was very inviting with a nice cool breeze. Very friendly efficient staff took our orders and what we had was excellent and good value. The lunchtime menu was very good and a choice of daily specials were available. Loved the decor inside the pub which has been done tastefully. Lots of seating outside and since our last visit they have a fabulous large undercover area with open sides and good seating. Enjoyed this visit so much we will start to make this a regular lunch spot and next time take family or friends with us when they visit.

We called in here after hunting for a nice pub ,but had no luck.Havent been here for years!Oh wow !Its lovely !We sat outside on lovely ratten seats .The food was excellent!The service was good too.The place is beautifully decorated to a high standard .Lovely character still !We will definitely be coming back!!

The perfect country pub. Impeccable friendly and fast service and quite possibly the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. We reserved a table but ended up sitting outside as it was such a nice day and the pub garden is beautiful! Highly recommend!

We’ve passed the Weld Arms so many times and not stopped but on the recommendation of a neighbour booked for lunch on bank holiday Saturday, a great choice. It was quite when we arrived and the friendly bar staff offered us a table inside or out, we sat quietly in the garden with our pup (just got a dog so we’re never sure of our welcome). The specials were Heritage tomato Salad and Mussels and we ordered both - 5 stars for these, absolutely amazing, sadly the open crab and avocado sandwich let the side down. The Crab was tasty but the Avocado lumpy which was disappointing however I was so full from the mussel starter and helping my wife with the mussels she had as main course it was not too much of an issue, but some would find it poor value for money.

The weld arms is a beautiful old pub presented in a modern but in a tasteful way that preserves it's rural design and thatched roof credentials. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and it is only a couple minutes from Lulworth Castle. We enjoyed an absolutely fantastic roast. The portions were generous, even the roasted venison consisted of 4 or so decent slices. The cooking was faultless and the beef was perfectly cooked. The price is fair for the quality and quantity you receive and I would highly recommend it. We will certainly be going back.

Easy parking in the back. Spotless dining room, interesting menu with vegan and gluten free dishes. I was boring and had fish and chips but it was the best I’ve had in a while. Perfect crispy thin batter, no grease. My wife had the halloumi and ratatouille and said it was excellent. I would have liked a beef or lamb option on the burger menu not just venison though. Octopus was tempting too. I’d recommend a pint of copper too. Reasonable priced. Didn’t use the toilets but the whole place was very clean. I’d go again without hesitation

Ordered two sandwiches and a bowl of chips. Was a little disappointed that they were open sandwiches which wasn’t made clear on the menu. The brisket had gristle in it which was inedible. We weren’t asked if we wanted any sauces or condiments so the chips were really bland. It’s such a shame as it’s a beautiful venue and the staff were welcoming.

We visited here for lunch on a Sunday, although it was tasty the beef was tough and also thought for what you got, 2 roast potatoes, some veg and two slices of beef I thought it was over priced. When the waiter was asked what flavour ciders they had he didn't know, although he did go and find out. Sorry won't be back. Not like it was years ago.

Stopped off on my way to Lulworth Cove. Expensive steak @ £29. Asked for medium but it was hard and tough to chew so could not eat it all. I expected a better quality steak for the price.I've had better quality steaks in London which were cheaper. Won't be going there again!

Came here for lunch today as we’re staying in the area to celebrate a birthday. The food was delicious and incredibly reasonably priced in comparison to what we pay in Bristol. Staff were lovely and attentive. Would definitely recommend !

First impressions were good, lovely decor and a reasonable menu. Dog friendly and it did have vegan options. However, it was empty on a Friday lunchtime, had heavy metal music playing and the staff were just standing around looking bored. So it really lacked atmosphere....

A midweek evening in February, a warm welcome, pleasant comfortable seating, friendly staff and tasty food and drink. Delightful.
