Such a charming little place. The staff seem to know everyone by name so obviously a regular clientele. Such a shame it will close on 21st. I’m sure it will be missed as seems like a real community hub

The Lamb was fatty and tough also luke warm. Roast Potatoes had microwave taste and cold . We reported the above to the waitress but no management came to see us. As it was a family celebration did not want to create a scene. Overall very poor family experience.

Well what can I say… I rarely do reviews unless something is particularly bad or excellent and I’m pleased to say my experience here was the latter. I was informed by a reluctant local to the area that this place was a little gem, the food is all cooked fresh in house and the prices are really good. It’s very popular with the locals and I can see why. Being positioned opposite The Tiger Inn with loads of free parking this little gem of a restaurant should be put on the map!! I ordered the new Christmas Dinner, when it came I was not expecting anything more than a small plate for the price, instead of got a full plate of succulent vegetables, scrummy roast potatoes (that always a must with me) pig in blanket, stuffing a home made Yorkshire pudding and beautifully cooked turkey…. Topped off with gravy and fresh Cranberry sauce all for the cheapest price of £13.50…. What a bargain. I have tried other Xmas dinners around the area but they are more expensive and I’ve not been able to satisfied. I can see why the locals keep this place quiet, it’s a beautiful location, dog friendly and the atmosphere is very homely. Sorry local people but your secret it out!!!! Highly recommend even if you just want fresh cooked cakes, light meals etc…. It’s my new favourite place 😍

This country pub had been on our list for ages and so as it was my birthday weekend we booked for Sunday lunch. We'd checked the menu before booking so we knew the roast was pricey at £24 for the roast beef. We usually pay between £16 and £20 elsewhere. Unfortunately, when it arrived it was disappointing. There was plenty of thinly sliced beef but I found it very fatty and chewy. There were fewer vegetables than expected, half a carrot, 3 very small, very hard roast potatoes and a pile of kale. The Yorkshire pud was large but mainly soggy. The gravy was delicious. Also elements of the dish were less warm than others. The pub is lovely and had a good drinks menu but we were seated in the bar area and had to listen to staff discussing their rotas at length. Perhaps if we'd been in the main restaurant area or outside we'd have had a better experience. Maybe consider your portion sizes especially the veg. We didn't stay for desert.

There are about 8 staff in the cafe, however, the time taken to .prepare drinks that are hot was insufferably long. Staff perfectly nice but pretty much ineffective. Most places make your drink while you wait but they seemed to have a ridiculous wait time, mine was 12 minutes. This meant that my "kept warm in a cabinet" pasty was luke warm at best by the time my coffee was ready, and I had to ask for it to be exchanged for a hot one, adding.to the waiting.time for those behind me in the queue. There was also an issue with dhot drinks served in take away cups for "outsde" although I explained I was sitting in the National trust seating area, I was not allowed a china cup, because they " get left outside". I did point out that there were many customers leaving their crockery and cutlery on tables inside as they left and they were not being.penalised, the staff member explained it was National Trust Policy.....stupid policy!
