Really nice Sunday roast, in beautiful historic surroundings. People working there today were super friendly. And it's one of the very very few pubs outside of London serving Lucky Saint on draft! Considering the age of the pub kudos for making one area accessible and for having a proper disabled toilet. So they got the 👍👍 from me and my husband today on many levels.

Unwelcoming staff. We were told that we had to order food & drinks at the bar. Other tables in the restaurant had very attentive table service, so we were unsure why we were treated differently. A member of our family party had someone else’s fish dinner spilt down his back. This obviously stank & was very uncomfortable for him. The staff member disagreed that it touched his back and said it landed on the floor. This wasn’t the case, as other diners saw exactly what happened. We had to ask for an apology, which was given, although very reluctantly. We waited an extremely long time for our food, even though it wasn’t a particularly busy night. The desserts were wrong and we were told that we hadn’t ordered the ones we’d asked for. We were made to feel like we were in the wrong. Tiger Inn - you have lost some loyal customers. It has ruined our evening.

We had a family meal here this evening. I really don’t know where to start, but about as bad as it gets - Fawlty Towers would be an under-statement. Staff attitude unbelievable, the high point being dropping a plate of fish down my brother in law, and rather than apologising, accusing him of lying that it went down his back. They need only have sniffed it ! Utterly disgraceful.

Our first visit to the Tiger the weekend before last and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious (very surprised and pleased to find a vegan pie with a Thai twist that worked superbly!) We love going to The Tiger, it reminds me of a set from Granchester. Set around a village green, it's incredibly quaint. We've whiled away a couple of hours over a couple of pints a few times here and eaten a lovely pie 🥧 on the last visit. I can't say what it's like in the winter months yet, but if you've gone for a lovely walk and are looking for a beautiful English pub in lovely surroundings, edged with lovely stone cottages, this is the place. Apologies for the rubbish pics on this one, I was quite excited by the massive gravy boat!

Rooms were authentically old and cosy, but still featuring up to date electronics and plumbing. Television was smart and high definition, plug sockets in good quantity and fast WiFi. Bed super comfortable. Shower lovely. In the morning had complimentary breakfast which was the best cooked breakfast I’ve had in years During the week long holiday in which I stayed at the tiger inn, it stood out above all others due to not only being in a great location and being tidy and well maintained but it also had tonnes of character making it not only a nice place to stay but also a memorable experience at the same time.

This is a really lovely pub with very friendly locals, unfortunately I found the South quite grumpy and I've never had such a small piece of fish and so few chips when I've ordered fish and chips in a pub. The £17 I think they could have put a decent portion of chips on the plate an a normal sized piece of cod. This was half a fillet, all about a third of that which you would expect in a fish and chip shop. Batman the less really lovely garden and a very nice experience chatting with locals why we were there.

Possibly the worst food we've ever had . Admittedly it was basic food such as calamari and bread with so called hummus and burger and chips and halloumi fries nothing fancy but it was not good, the fries, calamari and burger were definitely not made fresh. Have to say my score is sadly and simply average and that’s being generous, just over a year ago it would most certainly been higher, the food is not as I expected or known in previous visits, to be honest the price if reflective to quality would be below the standard of bypass catering van. So what has happened to this to change so dramatically costs have risen, the quality of food supplies have been compromised it really isn’t value for money, but on the positive side staff were efficient, the Long Man beer as always a good pint, but if the group ownership has put profit before people’s expectations of proper wholesome quality, its fails to impress, lovely setting but disappointing, please take heed and return to the old standards that make a landmark old fashioned public house a memory to cherish.

We were staying at the Tiger Inn, so the logical place to eat on the first evening was there. Even though we were staying and it wasn't a Friday or Saturday, it was advisable to book, so we did, which was just as well, as it soon became obvious just how popular the place is! Nice selection of starters, mains and desserts, so we opted for the home made steak and blue cheese pie and the breaded white fish with chips - both of which were well prepared and quick to arrive. Pie crust very crispy - which makes a nice change, as so many are soggy! Washed down with a glass of cider and large red wine. Tasty and reasonably priced. Pity we weren't staying longer to have tried some of the other menu choices.

We had to join a long queue to order drinks and collect the menu, then join the queue again to order our food. We are elderly with mobility issues so was disappointed there was no waiting staff. The food was warm not hot and the ingredients were obviously poor. We didn’t bother ordering more drinks or deserts as we just couldn’t be bothered to queue up again, it felt like a canteen rather than a country pub.

Incredibly beautiful pub, however the staff, two I ordered from were brusque/curt. Left me with the feeling that they don't like tourists or perhaps people they don't know. Long man brewery bitter was good. Ordered main meal and got 2 small bits of undercooked broccoli. Half a roast or baked carrot literally cut in half lengthways. Bit of mash and a jus that was most underwhelming, and a lamb shank that was also just a bit less than OK, peas were... peas. We went to different restaurant 2 hours later to eat properly as main meal didn't fill us. Could of just given more veg at the tiger to achieve that. Beer and location good, service and food I can't say the same.

I’ve been to this pub before and had a fantastic experience. The setting is obviously beautiful and the burger was so great that I’ve been trying to bring my husband down here for a year. We planned our whole day around coming here for a late lunch, had checked the website and it specifically said the kitchen is open 11:30am-9pm, and you can’t reserve outside tables so we couldn’t book. Having turned down many very appealing food options during our time in Eastbourne beforehand, we arrived very hungry only to be told they were not serving food. Now while a website can be wrong or outdated and I understand this is a mistake, he first tried telling my husband that was not their website, and when he corrected him to show it definitely was, there was no apology. There was also zero remorse for the fact that we had turned up for lunch based on their website information and were now left not being able to eat. It was clearly extremely recent that their kitchen had ‘closed’ as they were still bringing food out, so we were left feeling pretty furious. Beautiful location and I know the food is great, but the customer service needs some serious work. Either apologise or offer to just pop in some extra orders seeing as it was your mistake and clearly your chef was still there. It was only two of us.

Just stopped off for a quick bite to eat after a hike. Ordered fish and chips at a cost of over £17, not unusual for pubs these days. But it came out cremated. I thought this could have been a one off but the people next to me looked the same. The cod had been so overcooked that my knife could barely cut through it. The fish inside had fallen to pieces due to it being dried out. Any chef in their right mind would have put that straight in the bin. I'm hoping that a great traditional pub doesn't turn into a tourist hot spot charging big prices for sub par food as this pub used to be great for the food that it served. The front of house staff were friendly and approachable. The pub was clean with great toilets and clearly money had been spent on renovations.

When we booked we thought what a cute little cottage. Typical case of “You think”! Completely different than in the pictures: The room is tiny (no closet - just a tiny wooden shed, just a seat, everything crooked and crooked so that you fall out of bed (not an exaggeration), and the beds themselves are a disaster. So many Spring springs in the mattress and in the base that make you think you're sleeping on a trampoline. All of this for the price of €170.00 including breakfast, but you only get it if you don't have to leave before 7:30 a.m. to get his ferry to the mainland. Conclusion - NEVER AGAIN!!!

**Review of The Tiger Inn** During our recent visit to The Tiger Inn, my partner and I indulged in a delightful culinary experience that left us both thoroughly satisfied and eager to return. To start, we ordered the lamb roast, which was nothing short of exceptional. The lamb was perfectly cooked, tender, and juicy, with a rich, savory flavor that hinted at the quality of the meat and the expertise in its preparation. Accompanied by a medley of seasonal vegetables, the roast was enhanced by a smooth, well-balanced gravy that tied all the elements together beautifully. The roast potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, making for a perfect complement to the succulent lamb. For dessert, I opted for the chocolate white brownie, a decadent treat that exceeded my expectations. The brownie was moist and rich, with a perfect balance of sweetness and chocolate intensity. Topped with a delicate drizzle of chocolate sauce and served with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream, this dessert was a sublime end to my meal, leaving a lingering taste of satisfaction. My partner chose the rocky road ice cream sundae, which turned out to be a visual and gustatory delight. The sundae was generously layered with various flavors of ice cream, interspersed with chunks of chocolate brownie, and marshmallows. The addition of a rich chocolate sauce made it an indulgent and playful dessert that was thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, our dining experience at The Tiger Inn was nothing short of wonderful. The combination of expertly prepared dishes and delightful desserts, along with the warm and welcoming atmosphere from the staff truly made it a lovely experience. We highly recommend The Tiger Inn to anyone looking for a great meal or drink after hiking up the Seven Sisters Cliffs. P.s the location of the pub is in a beautiful area feels like cotswolds of Eastbourne.

6 for a birthday lunch at the Tiger Inn. We always feel welcome here, the staff are attentive and friendly. Its location is great for walkers and day visitors in the area. The food has always been very good, fresh and hot, with classic pub options on top of some interesting alternatives. You can book online (recommended for more than 4 people) or run the risk of walking in. Lots of outdoor seating tables on the village green if the weather is good. Main meal and drink for three came to £60, which we thought was fair.

A magical location, a quintessential English pub. Perfect.

Old, traditional pub with a good selection of food and excellent selection of local beers. Staff is super friendly. Had a comfy room (Grace) with own entrance looking out to the village green. Many amenities in the room and … the next morning even the sun came out. Yay!

Food was really good apart from very much burned chips full of oil and the plastic cups that flew after we finish our drinks. They don't have take away boxes and young male in the bar was unfriendly. But older staff member attending the tables couldn't be more helpful and caring.

Lovely pub in an idyllic setting. Friendly staff and excellent fish and chips. Good selection of ales and non-alcoholic beers. I wouldn't be surprised if it has been used as a film location of a "typical English village".

Food was lovely unfortunately it took about an hour to pay for the meal as they kept sending us back to the table even when I went to the bar to pay

This country pub had been on our list for ages and so as it was my birthday weekend we booked for Sunday lunch. We'd checked the menu before booking so we knew the roast was pricey at £24 for the roast beef. We usually pay between £16 and £20 elsewhere. Unfortunately, when it arrived it was disappointing. There was plenty of thinly sliced beef but I found it very fatty and chewy. There were fewer vegetables than expected, half a carrot, 3 very small, very hard roast potatoes and a pile of kale. The Yorkshire pud was large but mainly soggy. The gravy was delicious. Also elements of the dish were less warm than others. The pub is lovely and had a good drinks menu but we were seated in the bar area and had to listen to staff discussing their rotas at length. Perhaps if we'd been in the main restaurant area or outside we'd have had a better experience. Maybe consider your portion sizes especially the veg. We didn't stay for desert.

I have cycled past here so very very often and never tried the cafe. I should have read the reviews on here first! I stopped for a latte and a cake and the guy working here I am sure does not drink coffee. He was so out of his depth with the coffee machine I ended up with just hot milk!! In the old adage “You only get one chance to make a good first impression” Sorry but this time you failed. Yelling at me when I left that I could not go down and look at the lake as I might upset the fishermen having earlier told me there were no fishermen was not worth debating either. In short if you fish here use the cafe, if you are passing…… Keep on passing.

I have already reviewed this in the main hotel site. The drawing rooms are lovely, comfortable chairs, beautiful view, BUT the food and wine by the glass were truly awful. Very poor quality and very expensive. Never again.

We moved to Pevensey recently and The Red Lion is our new “local”. It’s warm and inviting, the staff are lovely and the food is always brilliant, portion sizes are good and quality of food is on point. Prosecco deals would be amazing as it does put us off slightly the price of a bottle compared to Tesco next door but if you want a night out then it is what it is! We are regulars and enjoy our time here. Music on a Friday/Saturday night would be great instead of Sundays but that’s just us im sure others like it on a Sunday.
