Second visit here in a month after a walk along Cuckmere. As well as a delicious menu and cake choice, dog welcoming and pleasant and clean eating areas (inside and out), all the staff are really friendly, welcoming and smiley! The hospitality industry is hard work and the team here really seem to enjoy their roles which makes for a lovely visit. Nice to see smart branded uniforms too. Complimentary water available and cosy blankets for the outside area. I have driven over 30 miles to visit and will do so again.

Surprised I had not found this before. Had spent a couple of hours walking the Country Park, took a leasurley stroll down to the beach, then a walk alog the top of the Seven Sisters Cliffs, made my way back to the Visitor Centre and discovered this lovely Cafe. I only wanted a light snack lunch, so opted for the Cumberland sausage roll and a pot of tea which was excellant. Good friendly service and a nice setting, will be back again next time I am walking in the Country Park.

I loved my 2 night stay at the Saltmarsh Farmhouse! The hospitality Emma and her team provided throughout was outstanding. From receiving a nice property tour shortly after checking in, comfortable room, delicious breakfasts each morning, and even staying late to cook dinner for me was very unexpected! Like home, but only way better! The property is lovely and the location right at the entrance of the Seven Sisters park and bus stops was ideal. Thank you Saltmarsh for a memorable experience!

Amazing hearty food in a beautiful space! We had the soup and the dhal and they were all wonderful. Warm crusty rolls, parsnip crisps on the soup, and the dhaal was probably the best I have ever eaten. I’m going back soon to try the coffee and amazing looking cakes and snacks. We were able to take our dogs in too which is so nice after a lovely walk down the meanders. A real gem!

The location is at the gates of the seven sisters national park. If you are locking for farmhouse experience I would definitely recommend it. The staff was very welcoming and cooperative in all ways and they made our stay very pleasant. Some maintenance and was going and yet we didn't feel uncomfortable. It was relatively clean for a Farmhouse. So if you would like to have a good stay with your family I would recommend it.

The restaurant is well designed, a nice display of cakes and snacks were on offer. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Our order was taken without any fuss, on offer was a good selection of food and drink. Our drinks arrived first followed by our half breakfast which was excellent value for money, we had to check our bill to make sure we didn't have the full breakfast by mistake. Staff checked that we were happy with our food which is always important but sometimes forgotten, I would recommend this establishment, will come again thank you.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception in the secret walled garden behind the farmhouse. Everything about the day was perfect. The new owner, Emma, is unfailingly calm, reassuring and charming but clearly worked her socks off for us behind the scenes. The location is just wonderful and we had lots of comments about how classy the day was. No 2-year waiting list either - we decided to get married in July and did the deed in September, and Emma didn’t bat an eyelid when we approached her. I’m sure she’ll get booked out soon once people discover her, though, so get in quick if you want an unfussy, romantic country wedding in one of England’s loveliest beauty spots.

A money-making endeavour to rip off the ‘tens of thousands’ of yearly customers who sadly have no other nearby option when visiting the area. The storm and bad weather drew us to the cafe. It wasn't busy. As we entered the owner was urging the customers who were leaving to complete a review on TripAdvisor. I guess it's the owners perogative but she was holding staffing meetings at the cosey table by the fire. All well and good but she was talking so loud you couldn't help but hear every word, to the extent that we had our own conversation in fairly hushed tones. Felt like spectators to staff meeting. What was noticeable that no word of please or thanks to the team. Sounds like I'm digressing, but it ruined the feel of the visit. Heard all about her up coming plans... could even still hear when I went to the loo! Shame as the guy serving made me a lovely cappuccino and the carrot cake was delicious and he was very polite and courteous. Saw the signs re 10% service charge and take on board the previous comments but it makes customers feel uncomfortable to ask to take it off. As we were leaving she asked us to leave a review... so I have. I review lots of places and very fairly and give credit where credit is due. Sorry wouldn't recommend... spend your money elsewhere.

After a bracing walk out to the beach as Storm Dennis started to blow in, this was a gem of a find!Let’s address the subject of ‘overpriced’ that you see in other reviews. This is not your average cafe. The food is all homemade and freshly prepared with absolutely yummy ingredients! So yes, it is a couple of pound more, but in my humble opinion, worth every penny! We both had the Welsh rarebit and it was wonderful! Crisp toast with lashings of luscious rarebit - with a dollop of sweet tomato chutney! Absolutely perfect! With the rain now coming down heavy, we took one look at each other in this cosy room and said ‘shall we stay for cake!?’ - bit of a no brainer really! My husband had the coffee cake which he said was excellent - I had the apple cake (such a rare find!) and honest to god it was one of the best cakes I’ve ever had! Website and room price do not reflect the reality. Our room was basic hostel style with an outdated bathroom. We also found spiders and mosquitoes in there. The location isn’t quite as idyllic as advertised, we could hear road noise from the room. The dinner we ordered was left in a slow cooker for us to serve ourselves since the staff left to go home. While the food tasted reasonable, it was a very small portion. Breakfast was ok, but had I wanted a second cup of coffee they would have charged us. They even wanted to charge us for a bottle of wine and drinks we never had. Overall really poor value for money. It was like staying in a hostel for the price of a luxury hotel. The staff did not seem to care at all about our experience. I would advise anyone against staying at this place!

Upon asking we were told they were in a hurry. So were we after 45mins with out any food!! Finally our breakfast arrived. It looked nice but was stone cold. The sausage was hardly even warm and had clearly been left on the side for 10-15mins before been served. Shame it could be a really nice place in a beautiful setting. But the food and service lets it down. Also noticed they automatically add a service charge which seemed crafty and unjustified

Visited the other day after walk. Strange choices on the menu. Rather slow service even having to wait ages for drinks to arrive. Menu expensive for size of portions then there’s the cheeky service charge added on. This is totally unnecessary at an establishment in this sort of location particularly when it’s the only cafe around so gets all the trade. Generally disappointing. Over £30 for three people having a sandwich and a drink.

Posto incantevole, panorama mozzafiato.

We stumble across this beautiful place after a day of hiking over Beachy Head, Seven Sisters and through the country park - needless to say we were starving after a day's exertions! On arrival we noticed how busy it was but it was a glorious day after all, we were greeted by friendly staff and a mouth-watering menu. We ordered our food and coffee's at the counter and thoroughly enjoyed our Ham and Cheese Ciabattas, there was not a long wait and nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they took the time to ask us how our day had been and even mentioned advice about other things to do in the area. Ours was not a long stay but was certainly a pleasant one! We were told about the 10% service charge when we paid and I always say if you are happy with the service you should be happy with the service charge! Next time we're passing we'll drop in for a coffee

Such a shame to write this review as this place could be lovely. Great walled garden right by the Cuckmere and Friston Forest.

We called in for lunch in the outdoor courtyard after a walk on the Seven Sisters. We received a friendly welcome but things deteriorated from there. We placed our order and 15 minutes later they came back to say our choice was no longer available. We re-ordered and 15 minutes later they came back to say that again they could not fulfil our order so we chose yet again. Having waited for some time we asked when our food would arrive. We finally received part of our order and had to chase them again for the remaining items. The food was good when it finally arrived but we still didn't get what we had ordered. The restaurant was staffed by young girls with no discernible adult supervision and they seemed unable to cope with the responsibility. As we were treating relatives to lunch it was disappointing to have such a bad experience, though our relatives did say that they had eaten there previously and had much better service.

Two cheese and ham ciabattas with a so called salad garnish of literally half a dozen lettuce leaves and half a cherry tomato, a cup of tea and a standard cup of Americano coffee, bill £18.70 !! The food and drinks were ok but just ordinary. When looking at the bill a 10% service charge had been added, this is a cafe in Sussex not a restaurant in the centre of a big city. Visit and make up your own mind, perhaps we were unlucky, but looking at some of the other reviews, perhaps not.

I would like to express my gratitude to the Saltmarsh Café team for supplying us with wonderful food for a picnic. The quality of the food was exceptional and my colleagues were very happy with the meal. Moreover, the food was served in crates decorated with flowers. It was a very nice gesture and the crates looked lovely. I really appreciate the effort of the team, especially Nina, for organising everything in a perfect way given the short deadline. I strongly recommend this place.

Good coffee but didn’t appreciate the recent removal of the jar for staff tips. This has been replaced with a 10% service charge which is described as“optional” on your receipt which you naturally receive after you have paid.

I have already reviewed this in the main hotel site. The drawing rooms are lovely, comfortable chairs, beautiful view, BUT the food and wine by the glass were truly awful. Very poor quality and very expensive. Never again.

We moved to Pevensey recently and The Red Lion is our new “local”. It’s warm and inviting, the staff are lovely and the food is always brilliant, portion sizes are good and quality of food is on point. Prosecco deals would be amazing as it does put us off slightly the price of a bottle compared to Tesco next door but if you want a night out then it is what it is! We are regulars and enjoy our time here. Music on a Friday/Saturday night would be great instead of Sundays but that’s just us im sure others like it on a Sunday.

Unwelcoming staff. We were told that we had to order food & drinks at the bar. Other tables in the restaurant had very attentive table service, so we were unsure why we were treated differently. A member of our family party had someone else’s fish dinner spilt down his back. This obviously stank & was very uncomfortable for him. The staff member disagreed that it touched his back and said it landed on the floor. This wasn’t the case, as other diners saw exactly what happened. We had to ask for an apology, which was given, although very reluctantly. We waited an extremely long time for our food, even though it wasn’t a particularly busy night. The desserts were wrong and we were told that we hadn’t ordered the ones we’d asked for. We were made to feel like we were in the wrong. Tiger Inn - you have lost some loyal customers. It has ruined our evening.

This country pub had been on our list for ages and so as it was my birthday weekend we booked for Sunday lunch. We'd checked the menu before booking so we knew the roast was pricey at £24 for the roast beef. We usually pay between £16 and £20 elsewhere. Unfortunately, when it arrived it was disappointing. There was plenty of thinly sliced beef but I found it very fatty and chewy. There were fewer vegetables than expected, half a carrot, 3 very small, very hard roast potatoes and a pile of kale. The Yorkshire pud was large but mainly soggy. The gravy was delicious. Also elements of the dish were less warm than others. The pub is lovely and had a good drinks menu but we were seated in the bar area and had to listen to staff discussing their rotas at length. Perhaps if we'd been in the main restaurant area or outside we'd have had a better experience. Maybe consider your portion sizes especially the veg. We didn't stay for desert.
