Originally we had booked somewhere close to a venue we were attending. However on arrival the accommodation was not as expected and we needed to find somewhere else to stay. We contacted 32 Torporley and spoke to Ben who sorted us out with a room. On arrival Ben couldn’t have been more helpful. The hotel and our room was amazing with everything we needed. The complementary snacks and cereals were a nice touch. All the staff we met were very friendly. We were unable to sample the restaurant food as we were attending a concert however we will definitely return in the near future. Highly recommended 5*

A warm greeting upon arrival and shown to our table in a very warm room!! Lovely fire and the whole place is a nice place to spend some time. The lady who took our orders and attended to us was perfection and very tolerant as we were late due to roadworks and massive diversions and queues!. She was ace. The food was excellent - all 3 courses, Nice for a change to have a side dish of vegeatbles. In some places veg seems to be non existant. A good time and as previously a few years ago was worth visiting.

Catch up in Tarporley, pre lunch and I've been here before. Really friendly owner and her really friendly dog with a super temperament. Just two pots of tea on this occasion but I'll be back for sure, when next in the area. Nice ambience, quite busy but owner happy for us to sit at the 'staff' table.

We visited here while staying locally and loved the friendly atmosphere. Yes covid has had an impact as it has everywhere what covid can't affect is the welcome and friendly atmosphere which makes it worth a visit definitely we did a couple of times and would travel to go back

I visited on an exceptionally cold afternoon shortly after the pub opened. A wood burning stove was quickly lit, and the heat soon took the chill out of my bones. The pub was soon busy and I felt that there was a good atmosphere. My efforts to find the Edgerton Arms were well rewarded.

We went for Christmas Day lunch and it was disappointing to say the least. We spent £85pp and for that I’m expecting a pretty darn good roast dinner. This isn’t a dig either, I just think it’s important to give honest feedback on this as I want to support local businesses and I have had nice meals previously at the Shrewsbury and want them improve. I was anxious about this meal as we’d had food close to bonfire night previously and it not good but I was hoping they might improve before Christmas. Let’s be clear, the food was not cooked well, the vegetables were not seasoned and lacked any flavour, the meat was overcooked and the roast potatoes were the worst I’ve ever tasted in any restaurant, period. I’m just not quite sure how you can get them to be so bad, it was like eating leather. I’d have been happy with some Aunt Bessie’s ones they were that poor. The Yorkshire pudding was crunchy, lacking any of the expected texture, the stuffing rubbery and the gravy was 100% instant mix. There was genuinely not one redeemable thing about that main meal. As for the starters, if you’re doing pate like that you should be serving that on crunchy toast, not luke warm , barely toasted bread and it certainly wasn’t brioche toast as was claimed on the menu either. I don’t plan on coming back in the future despite having eaten here on a number of occasions previously. I’ll wait and see if it improves but if something doesn’t change then it wouldn’t surprise me to see this place close in the not too distant future and that would be a travesty.

Wanted to visit for a while. Lovely evening by the canal. Perfect. My wife and I both had Turkey Sunday Roast. Quick service and pleasant staff. Plentiful size servings and food was hot. Potatoes were hard as was the veg. Everything else fine. Was a long journey from the Wirral so probably won't rush back. Sorry.

8 of us went for an evening meal. The Maitre D' was very rude and i think his saying is "the customer is always wrong." We asked if we could have seperate bills and he said NO. When he gave me the menu, I asked if there was another as the one on the website was different, again he said NO, the one on the website is out of date. One of our party didn't get their starter until we had to find someone and ask for it. The Main meal was awful, no seasoning or flavour. I must say my desert was nice, We were never asked, at any time if everything was alright. We wondered if we were at Faulty towers. When our bill arrived we again asked if he could bring seperated bills, He said " I've already told you NO. During our meal we could hear the Maitre D' telling 1 of the lovely waitresses off in a very loud agressive manner. He is very rude and a bully. He said he had worked there 23 years. God help them. We will NEVER go there again and will advise others not to.
