We went on a surprisingly quiet Sunday afternoon and sat in the garden , I ordered at the bar a starter of scotch egg and 2 roast beef , scotch egg came in about 10 - 15 minutes and was ok but at £10.25 a tad expensive. I had to ask for cutlery and napkins , around us on 1 table was a table of glasses and a table with 2 empty plates with nobody sat there . We waited 25-30 minutes for starter to be cleared but I ended up taking it in and gave the staff who were gathered by the bar a little nudge that we were outside and had they forgotten us ?? Another 15 minutes past and the dinners came which were quite tasty and plentiful, again had to ask for cutlery, still tables were left dirty around us and we had no check back at all . All in all poor service on a quiet shift , hence no tip , maybe it was a bad day at the office which we all have from time to time.

I went for lunch with my friend and thought it was lovely. The oatcake with goats cheese and red onion marmalade was superb. We were able to sit outside in the sunshine which made the experience even more pleasant. I shall definitely return with my family. We have only recently moved to the area so I am delighted to have found The Old Barn.

The Red Lion is a 5 out of 5! Great friendly service and food to die for! We ordered the fish and chips, camembert, turkey club and burger. Our only challenge was to decide which was best! They were delicious. The chips were fresh and crispy and the " nigella onion rings" were so crisp! Had a great chat with the landlord. A lovely reception. We have to come back to try the Sunday roast. Loads of space in the car park, very dog friendly. Seriously no downsides. Highly recommended for people and families who like a good pub!

Went for Sunday lunch today. Haven't been since it was refurbished, it looks lovely, they've done a great job. Lovely staff, mainly young lads all polite and helpful. 4 of us ordered roast beef dinner. The beef was as tough as old boots! The veg was not bad, roast potatoes were ok. Nothing special. Yorkshire pudding was great. Nobody asked how the meal was or we'd have told them. We could have done with steak knives to cut the beef and we certainly needed good teeth to chew it! The young man that cleared the table did ask how it was and he did say we weren't the only ones to complain the beef was tough! It wasn't just us then! The bill was over £100 including a drink each. Not impressed at all. I don't think we'll be going back

Avoid the ham egg & chips. Totally disappointing, you have to try particularly hard to take such a simple dish & ruin it completely. Skinny french fries (really)! Small yolk compeltely overcooked egg! a huge slice of pinapple straight out of the Brakes Brothers jumbo tin! Overcooked garden peas! And finally the saltiest gammon steak I have had the displeasure to eat (left most). Someone should taste test the menu. Shame, used to be ok here, suggest the Plough in Eaton. CW12 2NH

Been visiting jodrell on and off as a cyclist for the last 5/6 years, from when the modern caterer was responsible for the cafe, sadly that came to and end a while ago and the university took back charge. The food seems to have been going downhill ever since. Todays (Sunday) breakfast offering consisted of sausage or bacon barms. Precooked and left to slowly cool in a pot, not kept warm or reheated, served on an unbuttered barmcake that was left to dry out in a paper bag. The whole thing soon disintegrated because it was dryer than Gandhi’s flip flop. And they have the cheek to charge £5 for it. On the (only) plus side the coffee is still decent. May be better in the week but today was embarrassing compared to how good it used to be.
