I've been to The Davenport Arms a number of times over the last few years. Despite lots of competition in the area, it was the treat I went for when I didn't mind paying a bit extra for slightly better quality. However, my last two visits in the last two months have been disappointing. The prices remain some of the highest in the area, but the food is now a minefield of hit and miss. The menu changed, removing some of my favourites - and limiting the vegetarian options I enjoyed - but also massively shrinking the portions. The food was a drop in quality, noticeably. We've been back since and the food was better, but I fear it will never be the quality it once was, so unlikely to return again anytime soon. What I will say though, is that the service is consistently friendly and great. I wouldn't have returned for the best food in the world if that wasn't so - so well done to the team.

Our daughter is going to Barbados tomorrow so we came here for breakfast in order to take temporary custody of Patsy, the labradoodle. We were on a tight schedule and arrived as the doors opened at 09:30. We had booked a table and told the staff of our needs and were provided with an out of the way table and quickly asked for our order. Breakfast duly arrived and everything was perfectly cooked. It was delicious. What a fantastic experience. We will be back.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Davenport Arms, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The food was nothing short of beautiful; each dish was not only expertly prepared but also presented with an artistry that made every bite a visual treat. The menu showcased a wonderful variety of flavors, and it was clear that fresh, high-quality ingredients were used in every recipe. The establishment itself was equally impressive. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with a clean and stylish decor that made for a comfortable dining experience. It was refreshing to see such attention to detail in maintaining a spotless environment, which added to the overall enjoyment of our meal. A special thank you to our server, Hope, who went above and beyond to ensure our experience was exceptional. Her attentiveness and positive attitude made us feel welcomed and well taken care of. Nothing was too much trouble for her, and she truly enhanced our dining experience. Overall, I highly recommend The Davenport Arms for anyone looking to enjoy beautifully crafted food in a lovely, clean setting. I can't wait to return!

Went for Sunday lunch today. Haven't been since it was refurbished, it looks lovely, they've done a great job. Lovely staff, mainly young lads all polite and helpful. 4 of us ordered roast beef dinner. The beef was as tough as old boots! The veg was not bad, roast potatoes were ok. Nothing special. Yorkshire pudding was great. Nobody asked how the meal was or we'd have told them. We could have done with steak knives to cut the beef and we certainly needed good teeth to chew it! The young man that cleared the table did ask how it was and he did say we weren't the only ones to complain the beef was tough! It wasn't just us then! The bill was over £100 including a drink each. Not impressed at all. I don't think we'll be going back

What a gem of a find - cosy, traditional, intimate pub with a fire in every room....food was excellent and an enticing menu - staff were so friendly and polite. Set in the most beautiful village with duckponds. Can't wait to return!!!

Been visiting jodrell on and off as a cyclist for the last 5/6 years, from when the modern caterer was responsible for the cafe, sadly that came to and end a while ago and the university took back charge. The food seems to have been going downhill ever since. Todays (Sunday) breakfast offering consisted of sausage or bacon barms. Precooked and left to slowly cool in a pot, not kept warm or reheated, served on an unbuttered barmcake that was left to dry out in a paper bag. The whole thing soon disintegrated because it was dryer than Gandhi’s flip flop. And they have the cheek to charge £5 for it. On the (only) plus side the coffee is still decent. May be better in the week but today was embarrassing compared to how good it used to be.
