What a brilliant cosy country pub!! We booked for a family gathering Sunday lunch and it was the best few hours together in this little gem. Booked online for a party of 15 and Chris was so helpful with his communication , making sure we had a room to ourselves and pre ordering with some dietary requirements. The pub was very busy that day with a large wedding party outside but it did not affect our time there. The room was so cosy with the fire burning and candles on each table. Staff very attentive taking our drinks orders and looking after us so well. Our pre ordered food was served when we were ready and it was all delicious. Great portions and perfect roast beef and turkey dinners with huge Yorkshires! Can only highly recommend this beautiful pub. Great food, beers and friendly staff. A credit to the Robinson’s Brewery.

Not visited for quite a while and so decided to gather for a family Sunday lunch. Food fabulous and have no complaints. Service absolutely awful. Not once were we asked if we would like drinks, so resorted to going to the bar ourselves. After quite a wait decided to visit the bar again and request menus, service took so long that we all decided to forego the dessert menu. Could be some time before we visit again, sadly. Such a shame, but if not bothered about the wait and the very slow service, the Sunday roast is lovely.

We drive past this pub every day so for the first time decided to host a Family get together. We had our own room which was nice due to the number of people to cater for and everyone could chat to each other very easily. The staff on the day were not very chatty but remained focused and service was pleasant enough despite an odd chap in his coat popping in and staring as though he wanted an invite. . The Menu was a Sunday Menu and due to the volume we were asked to pre choose our meals. Variety of different starters which was nice and all came out together. The Main meal was mainly Potato with very little in the way of Vegetables ie; 2 half cut baby carrots, A finger pinch of green Cabbage and a parsnip, The gravy was very watery which wasn't pleasant. Most of the Family had Beetroot Wellington which i was told wasn't pleasant either with no taste and most left half a plate of food. The main reason for writing a review was beside the main meal being as written I felt it Bizarre that even though we had Pre Chosen our Menu, Most of the family had chosen Bread & Butter Pudding to be told on the day there is no Bread & Butter Pudding ... Is it not the reason to pre book to ensure stock levels are adequate ? The odd chap in his coat returned to clear the plates from the tables so must have been a member of staff or a regular helping out in return for a free pint, Maybe he was the Manager, Either way thank you assisting. Overall we left quite deflated with the opinion sadly there would be no return.

Please do not waste your time visting here. Staff are incredibly rude, from what I presume a mother and daughter that work there, bitching and staring at customers, along with the other bar girls. Made us feel totally unwanted and unwelcome. Just looks like they go there for a mothers meeting rather than work, all stood around staring and making comments about me my friends and locals when they left, Toxic place. Toilets dirty along with the tables too. such a shame as could be a nice village pub, with the right staff, shame the staff seem to have ruined this place and its future

We always choose this usually fabulous little pub for an impromptu meal out as we love the warm fires, friendly atmosphere & excellent menu/food. However, last night we walked in and it was miserably cold inside, there was nobody serving behind the bar for the first 5 minutes, the menu had changed and was just a scruffy A4 sheet with a limited selection of dull options. We both chose pies but were told there was only one left so I ordered loaded nachos instead. After a fairly long wait our food came but I was brought a plate of chips covered in chilli, guac & sour cream. I explained that I'd ordered loaded nachos so they took my food away but my husband had finished his meal before my nachos eventually arrived. We were frozen cold throughout & thoroughly fed up. We weren't charged for the nachos but the evening was such a shocking disappointment on so many levels we are loath to bother coming back now which is really sad! We used to love this pub but we felt like kids were in charge who had no idea about good hospitality.

Catching up with reviews and our visit was back in April but we had a great evening. Lovely country pub, nice ambience and friendly service. Close friends and family swear by the Ham, Egg and chips and it's really good value. I had the Greek chicken wrap and I was impressed. Noticed on the receipt that Guinness was £5. In London in April, the average price of a pint of the black stuff was £5.31 and in Stoke £3.70. Interesting.

This is the 3rd time we’ve given this pub a chance to get the food right, I agree with the last couple of reviews. Roast dinner was awful! Beef hard, dry and tough, everything looked anaemic, the excuse for both last time and this time was that the potato’s are not in season, well I can still crisp mine up at home and wished id had, gravy was watery, fries with the sandwich were also beige, mint sauce gross. Staff were very friendly, this is not there fault, but someone needs to sack the chef! We came here just after first lock down the first time, and the chips were homemade crispy brown, the pizza in the box was delicious, such a shame it’s gone down hill, this really needs putting right, as people surely will stop going. Beautiful location great outdoor area, please get the food sorted. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll waste my money to give this pub another chance to get it right. Sorry

Appalling food appalling service nothing really else to be said. Went in for Sunday lunch which was ordered, 2 roast lamb. Meat was tough and poor, veg consisted of very pale non crispy “roast spuds” very soggy over cooked broccoli and cabbage with a “mash “ with big lumps of swede and carrots. Gravy swimming in fat. The whole lot had clearly just been reheated. Plates weren’t cleared after ages, I took them to the bar , (we both left half of the mains and not because we couldn’t manage a hearty portion )to ask for sweet menus. My “torte” 6.95 evidently bought in and served with gone off cream which was exchanged. Coffees to ages to arrive. Pub traditional which was great but food was like a school dinner from the 70s with shocking service despite an abundance of staff and pretty empty pub. Empty for a reason I guess

Been going here for years when at the Gawsworth music events. The fish and chips were famous (and delicious!). However, we have been twice in July and been disappointed by the food. The fish was much smaller than before and the batter not as crispy - chips a bit soggy with oil. So the second visit we opted for Gammon. Very oily meal chips soggy - won’t be returning for a while now. Think there has been a change if chef since last summer? We compared the last meal to a weatherspoons not a compliment.

Splendid old world pub tucked away of the Congleton to Macclesfield Road. Drive to fast and you will miss it. The pub has a fine aged patina that some may construe as needing a lick of paint. Not so, it has much charm and charisma and was packed on our first visit, slightly less so the second time. Super friendly staff, fine Robbies ale and decent food too. A perfect country pub.

Second time visiting the Harrington Arms since our friends moved to Macc and we stumbled across it after a walk. Great homemade pub food, & a lovely pint of Guinness (a rare treat these days). All four of us had a different meal & we all left happy with no complaints, staff are friendly & chatty, the pub is cosy in winter & also has a cracking beer garden for the summer. Tbh if I'm out walking in the area this is now my go to for some grub & pint. Not pretentious, just good food & drink at a decent price.

As we'd both been to the Flower Pot the evening before, with different parties, we decided to visit here, for an afternoon beer in the countryside. As we walked through the door, there were no customers around so I approached the bar, where again there were no customers standing but there were several staff, without face coverings waiting to serve. I was told to wait by the door, in a friendly manner. Nobody came, then a woman came past, rushed off her feet and said she'd be with us shortly. When she returned we were told to use the hand sanitiser and sign in. We explained we weren't eating and wanted a drink outside. As we hadn't booked, this looked to be a potential issue but after a few minutes we were taken outside and pointed to our numbered table. There were about 14 tables, with about 5 taken. We then ordered our drinks.Whilst we drank a young lady came to disinfect a table close by and I felt the spray on my legs - nice.Nobody came near us, we were isolated. I would certainly not take any chances with my 99 year old neighbour. What should have happened was; enter pub, socially distance, order 2 pints, proceed to garden, choose table at a safe distance, relax and have a chat. We didn't really enjoy the experience and left for the Flower Pot shortly afterwards. The staff were friendly, the lady in charge was working hard but whoever decided on how things should operate needs to have a rethink. 6 cases of Covid per 100,000 in East Cheshire does not require measures akin to a plague. If the staff at the bar wore protective face coverings or a some sort of screen was in place then the customer might not then be subject to such a regimented experience.

Hottest day of the year and desperately in need of a cool beer and a beer garden. At my friend's suggestion we headed here, I hadn't realised the extent of the garden at the back. The pub has modernised quite a bit since I arrived in Macclesfield, from the farmhouse pub that it once was. We called in for lunch a year ago and the food was very good.Anyway, Robinsons' beer so I went for a cold lager, Veltins......or Beltin Veltins to us. My friend had the Unicorn. Drinks were good and the lady behind the bar offered to top up the ale without prompting.Unfortunately the garden was full of wasps, obviously a nest nearby but it turned out it was 'wasp evening' following on from 'flying ant day'! Moved inside and one of the blighters started drinking my mate's ale - bl00dy cheek!!Hope to be back soon and to dine next time.

If you blink you will drive past the Harrington Arms. The road to the pub was realigned years ago and now it stands on a green island that is a twisting hairpin of a lane through the village of Gawswort in Cheshire. It was probably the last public house in Cheshire also a working farm.

Lovely cosy, warm and welcoming pub. The food was very nice and freshly cooked. I had the Lamb Hotpot and my friend had the very large fish and chips. Excellent service from the lady behind the bar.

We booked a table for the Burns night celebration, and were seated in a very characteristic small room that may have been a kitchen in the distant past.

Our wedding was at the very end of August. For personal reasons we wanted to get married at Gawsworth Church and needed a venue afterwards. The Harrington Arms became it. I cannot thank Caroline and Andy enough. I was a nervous bride and didn't really know what i wanted, just that i loved the beer garden and bbq. They saw to it all. The day went without a hitch. Food was excellent, and just kept flowing. Burgers, sausages and kebabs to name some of the choice.Chip butties to hand after our band later in the evening. I cannot imagine having such a wonderful time with wonderful hosts anywhere else. They created the venue and 'do' to be exactly how i'd imagined it would be but couldn't quite articulate it.Cheap too compared to other places. A glorious wedding day and a few more guest to be returning. Thank you from both of us xxxxx

We found this pub on trip advisor, we were staying at Shellow Lodges and needed somewhere for dinner. And I’m glad we did. The food was lovely and fresh could tell it was home made. Everything we ate was nice. Good little find

This is just a review of my meal. The pub and grounds are great. Had the fish and chips and it was very poor. Batter was soggy, had to scrape all off. Chips were limp and very oily. On the side was a lump of dry mushy peas. Should have sent back but had waited long time for it to come. Was going to say something to the staff when they came to clear up but they never came and so just left. When I ordered I gathered they were just at the end of a busy period but it's no excuse to send out like that.

Just called on this pub by chance. Wow what a find, the steak sandwich was the best. No gimmicks(chips in tin tubs etc) just lovely homemade food and proper homemade chips at a very reasonable price. We will be back!

We found this place quite by chance. Lovely small bar but good food on offer and good coffee. sat out in the garden to eat. The service was quick and friendly. We ordered sandwiches which arrived with salad and chips. The filling was plentiful and tasty. Definitely worth a visit.

This place was jumping! After a 7 hour drive on the M6 this was a perfect place to chill out. The food was fresh and well cooked. Smallish menu but what was on offer was done very well and served my very friendly staff.

The perfect stop on a lovely warm summers day. Almost perfect beer garden to soak up the countryside views. Decent selection at the bar and a real old rustic place to the place with its many little rooms and nooks.

Having heard good reports from some of the “locals” about the Harrington Arms under its new management, we were looking forward to our pub lunch, but the soup was tasteless, the crayfish tails poor and the chips were soggy. We will not be eating there again.

We stumbled upon this almost by accident - and were so impressed!! The pub itself, interior included, is wonderfully traditional/unspoiled by modern design, whilst being very comfortable at the same time. There are a number of unique little rooms, lit by real fires and candle light and furnished with lovely old antiques. It is so cosy and atmospheric - we could easily have stayed for hours longer and literally had to tear ourselves away ... and the food was just excellent - I mean Five Stars!! It was all home cooked and beautifully presented and piping hot. I had the goats cheese and caramelised onion pie with puff pastry and salad - it was gorgeous and a very generous serving (I'll upload a pic). All of our party were delighted with the food - which is also very reasonably priced. I cannot wait to return!!

We attended the festival of transport in Audlem and called in for breakfast at the Bridge Inn. The food was excellent, big portions and very good value with coffee or tea refills. The staff were very attentive and friendly and we will definitely go back again when we are in the area.

This is one of the best restaurants we have visited. The personnel can’t do enough for you especially Pan and Angie. We have been here 3 months in a row and each time Pam and Angie have been superb ambassadors for the hotel

We turned up and our booking had been done for the wrong day, completely our fault! There was 7 of us but Chloe was great helping us to find a table for the 7 of us in the bar area which we were fine with as the bar and restaurant were really busy, so we were very lucky. We had great bar service from Jack, who pulls a good pint. Food was lovely and enjoyed by all, will definitely be coming again. Thanks
