A spur of the moment decision to visit The Vane Arms, having heard great things from friends but having never been before and this certainly won't be our last visit. A really lovely village pub / restaurant. Friendly and welcoming with special mention to Oliver on front of house / waiting, who was professional and friendly. Had gone thoroughly intending to have desert, all of which looked amazing but such was the quality and quantity of the main courses, we sadly couldn't manage! Next time though! Thanks to all at The Vane Arms for a lovely lunch which all our family thoroughly enjoyed.

Well this was one of my last heavy calorific meals before starting a healthier life choice after Christmas What a way to go out full blown Parmo but not all bad due to eating all the fantastic side salad which I usually dodge but so good ate that also Parmo was good served with chunky chips and as I say a very fresh tasty salad Great service and very polite staff view not bad also highly recommend

5 adults, 5 children plus 1 in a highchair for Sunday lunch. Almost perfect (no brownies for children's desserts). The quality of all courses was superb. Main roast dishes were ample and perfect. I had bream. Delicious. Sadly no specific GF dessert for me (could have had ice cream but was full!) Service was attentive and prompt despite the restaurant being full. Can not recommend highly enough.

Is Billingham’s Toby Carvery where mediocre chefs go to die? Today (17/09/24) I had what I can only describe as the most disgusting meal I’ve had prepared by allegedly professional chefs. If I had served such poor quality food to paying customers, I’d throw myself off the restaurant’s roof. The food was over cooked, cold, tasteless and disgusting. I have literally thrown out better quality food that I’d prepared myself. Any self respecting chef would feel embarrassed serving such a poor quality food. The irony is the elderly lady in front of me asked for warm gravy, the carving chef was abrupt and rude to her saying “our gravy is always hot don’t be such a rude old lady”. Well young man, it wasn’t. My beer was warmer! I know that the Toby Carvary chain is cheap and cheerful’ but please chefs have some pride in your cooking and respect for your customers. If today was you at your best, it’s time to resign and find an alternative career. Today’s efforts was inexcusable.

Visited for Sunday lunch with family . Overpriced and probably one of the worst Sunday lunches I have ever eaten .Beef tough as old boots ,hard to cut with standard cutlery , broccoli pretty much raw . Pork fatty and wafer thin .Roast potatoes tasted like reheats, luckily only given 2 of them and carrots again hard and barely edible. Dinner saved by the mash which was the best thing on the plate .We mentioned to waitress about meat being awful who didn't look surprised or interested. Honestly save your money and go to one of the many local pubs that serve great food in this area .
