The Vane Arms is in a beautiful setting. On my visit, the place is lovely with a great outside space, the menu is varied and food really tasty. What made my visit worth 5 stars were the fab staff , Chris and George. Friendly, helpful and generally great guys. Thank you

Came here as part of a celebration event. The staff were great and couldn't fault them. The catering wasn't what I was expecting. Occupational uncooked wedges, anaemic looking sausage rolls and scarcity of vegetables. The venture itself is decently sized and has adequate parking.

Our 2nd visit to this Excellent pub, they do 2 for £15 even on a Friday night where lots of pubs are Monday to Thursday only. They have 3 or 4 flavour thatchers on draught that I can't find anywhere else. Warm and welcoming. As a party of 4 we sat in the corner out the way and ordered food and a couple of drinks.... Very reasonable prices. The lad came over 20mins ahead of time to let us know the child in the group had to leave so no rushing about. Definitely somewhere we will be returning to. I would say the car park seems small for the size of the pub and you would expect parking issues but we have never had a problem getting parked.

This was our second attempt to enjoy Sunday lunch here. Sadly the experience was once again poor and we won’t be back. Waited far too long (35 minutes) for a drink. Bread stale, roast beef too fatty and vegetables tough to cut! Eton mess poor!

Food was OK, its a carvery so some hot some not so! Meat selection very good, roasties not good!! Watch the car park, Do Not Forget To Enter Your Registration, £100 fine if not, fortunately we paid by card so we were able to prove we'd been, other cash customers may not be so lucky, you've been warned...

Been here a few times but today… omg what went wrong?? My friend and I ordered the steak and venison pie and the chicken and pancetta pie for lunch. Meals came, mash had an old warmed up look to it, and the pies were BOTH STONE COLD inside! I spoke to the staff who said they’d get it sorted for us and removed the meals. I was horrified that both these meat dishes were clearly not cooked anywhere near properly. Because of this, I decided I was not happy to stay and eat here. I explained this and asked for a refund, which I got without any issue. (Someone else was complaining about their food too whilst I went to the bar. ) I was thoroughly disappointed as I’ve had nice food here before but this experience has put me off coming back. Not at all acceptable for a food establishment. I had spoke highly of your pub to my friend and felt like this experience spoilt our day. I felt it was more of a food hygiene / health and safety issue than “- oh we’ll get that sorted for you!”

Is Billingham’s Toby Carvery where mediocre chefs go to die? Today (17/09/24) I had what I can only describe as the most disgusting meal I’ve had prepared by allegedly professional chefs. If I had served such poor quality food to paying customers, I’d throw myself off the restaurant’s roof. The food was over cooked, cold, tasteless and disgusting. I have literally thrown out better quality food that I’d prepared myself. Any self respecting chef would feel embarrassed serving such a poor quality food. The irony is the elderly lady in front of me asked for warm gravy, the carving chef was abrupt and rude to her saying “our gravy is always hot don’t be such a rude old lady”. Well young man, it wasn’t. My beer was warmer! I know that the Toby Carvary chain is cheap and cheerful’ but please chefs have some pride in your cooking and respect for your customers. If today was you at your best, it’s time to resign and find an alternative career. Today’s efforts was inexcusable.

We have frequented this pub for many years on and off but will not be returning. There are too many dogs if you don't like dogs then DO NOT GO The girls serving the food were all over the dogs and then serving the food and collecting glasses. There is no need to let dogs in the main pub plenty of room outside!
