Toby Carvery in Stockton-on-Tees

Everything was perfect. Didn't have to wait long. Everything was presentable, nothing missing, Didn't have to wait for veg top up. Nice clean seating area. Staff service was quick and friendly.

Could not have been sat any further away from the carvery and yes I had booked a table there was no cabbage available it was busy granted but after getting my meal I waited nearly 10 minutes for gravy there was none the roast potatoes were under cooked and I asked for gravy and was totally ignored noted by everyone else who had formed a queue waiting for It

Walked in, joined a queue which was dealt with fast, you need to enter your car registration too, but was greated and shown to a table, joined the queue for the carvery which moved quickly, staff asked if everything was ok, which it was, husband said it was the friendliest place he'd eaten, he is now a Toby convert, he got a doggy bag as couldn't finish what he'd got so they provided a box. Overall, absolutely loved it and shall be back.

Food is great, staff excellent. No waiting around straight in and to the carvery.

Only two slices of meat?? Come on!! Meant to be a Carvery! Two slices of meat makes it expensive when all you are paying for is Veg!!

A regular haunt of ours, but we were kept standing at the counter too long, stingy with the meat for a large plate, too. Servings should not be a lottery depending on who serves you.

Nipped in for breakfast with the family and it was ok and plenty there to eat if you are starving

Popped in for a quick visit at lunchtime. Was quite busy but not heaving and plenty of space. Had a beef sandwich and a cup of tea. Tea was a bit luke warm and the beef in the sandwich was a little fatty and yet quite dry. Service was really friendly and helpful and I couldn't fault it. If I go back I'd make sure I had more time and grab a carvery I think.

Good Sunday lunch, long lines (it’s popular!) but they go along pretty quickly so not too much waiting time

This is to do with the packaging they use for deliveries (and presumably collections too). The food itself is lovely. A couple of weeks ago, I ordered two carverys - one meat with regular gravy, and one vegetarian carvary with vegetarian gravy. Unfortunately, the gravy pots were not labeled so it was impossible to tell which one was vegetarian and which one wasn't - so the vegetarian could not have gravy on his food. I complained to Uber Eats, expecting a partial refund on the vegetarian meal, but they fully refunded both meals, probably because dietary requirements are actually quite serious. We ordered again this evening. Unfortunately, again, the gravy was not labelled. I don't know if the message wasn't passed on, but common sense suggests that if you offer vegetarian gravy then maybe there should be a way of distinguishing this. Please fix this because the food is lovely, and we want to be able to order again.

We booked a table and got straight in on arrival. The carvery was delicious, plenty of choice and as much veg as you wanted, all cooked perfectly. Excellent value for money and the service was excellent.

Nicest Toby Carvery have ever been too. Always refreshing vegetables. Staffwaiting tables very friendly and helpful. We had Beth serving us who was lovely and happy in her job

Went in on the 2nd of April 24 nice food as always, the young water girl, needs a lot of customers service training, asked for 2 ice cream for the kids to take away so the kids can have ice cream on the way home she asked them what they wanted and then sed to us we can not take the ice cream away as it will melt it's not for taking away from the restaurant, i told her we have all ways taken ice cream away and that was not a problem but she got Nasty about it so I ask for the bill so I can pay it then take another 10 mins for the bill I enjoyed up asking another person for the bill then she came with the bill just slung the bill on the table and told me the cost not going back to the place any more

Went for breakfast and witnessed a very rude customer berating one of the staff because he hadn't downloaded an app to get a discount for his grandchildren to eat for £1. He was very rude and quite nasty to the lady behind the bar. She kept her cool and advised how to get the app for the discount. He moaned again at her because his network signal was poor, she offered him the WiFi details. He stood in line behind me moaning he was disabled and should get preferential treatment. His wife advised him she had already got his food and put it on the table, his reply was nasty saying we'll I might not want what you've put on the plate. He then kicked off because the waitress seating customers told him she was busy and couldn't get him some water at that very minute. Never seen anything like it. Well done to all the staff working because if I'm honest I would have told him to leave if he was that unhappy. He needs to learn some manners what a horrible man!! Food was lovely, staff are great. 👍

Was a short wait for a table. A few people were grumbling. Enjoyed the food and experience. Well worth a visit for a carvery . A perfect location for the restaurant near the services. Ideally located near to Seeton Carew Beach to walk the dog afterwards

Please be aware that the car park is not free. I have just received a fine. The signs in the car park are quite small and I didn't notice them at all. None in the restaurant told us about the park payment. It seems to me too weird to be a coincidence. I wonder if it's not intentional

Love the lamb on the weekends I really enjoyed it. Wish the stuffing wasn’t so dried out my partner asked if there was fresh coming out but that was still pretty hard

Never again, Staff rude , I did complain about the way we were spoken by a Joanne I have never meet a person so rude in my all my life , management didn't want to now , that's bad tells all don't care people....the carpark full of potholes really needs updating....

We thought we'd treat ourselves to a carvery, well if truth be told neither of us could be bothered cooking 😁 My wife had booked a table and I was glad because it was very busy when we went in(17:30). We were called when our table was ready and taken there(nice touch). We then went and got our carvery, you have a choice of a normal size plate and a king size plate(extra £2 for the bigger plate), The choice was really good, choice of two meats, then one or two Yorkshire puddings, then a plethora of well presented and cooked vegetables (oddly no broccoli?), with cauliflower cheese, then choices of gravy and other condiments like mustard, horse radish etc. Our waitress (Chloe)was really friendly and lovely. So all in all a very pleasant experience and I would have no hesitation in recommending here for a carvery as I cannot comment on any other meals that is served here 👍😁

Went on Friday afternoon with family. Was busy so bit of a queue but no long. Staff were amazing, food was good. Excellent service and value for money. Would definitely recommend it if you haven't been there

The food was lovely in every way the gravy is amazing and the re fill drinks are well enjoyed by my full family. All in all were very happy with everything .

Haven’t been for a while and it was so nice to go this time, yesterday. Going again tomorrow, with friends. Food was excellent, service was sublime and although very busy we waited for nothing! Well done Toby Carvery.

Came in for lunch 2 of us with a young lady with complex needs,Shelly went above and beyond to help us going to get a baby bowl as the young lady needed pureed dinner then went and got a spoon and a glass of water for the young lady,even though she was really busy,and answered all our questions about menu offers etc with a smile on her face ..keep up the good work 😊 thank you xx

I have just had a lovely breakfast at the toby carvery at wolviston and it was very busy however a rude man with bad language walked out thank you Jordan and Natalie for your lovely hospitality i will be coming back

We had booked for 2.30 for Sunday lunch after a trip to the Snowdrop Wood in Greatham. The staff were very good. The food was good. What was disappointing was the table manners of some fellow diners and the amount of food they piled on their plates, leaving most of it. I have never seen so many tattoos! Not a good experience on a Sunday. I won’t do it again.

We come her quite often. Always pleased with the food and the service. Our server Beth went above and beyond today to get us the kids eat for £1 deal when I couldn't access the offer on the app so thank you lots Beth for the great service!! Jake the carver was very welcoming and friendly too!

Food was fine but seriously do not go on a Sunday unless you have trout lips, tattoos and are happy to waste piles of food. Prefer to go somewhere where the majority have half decent table manners and don’t have a phone in one hand and fork in the other.

We got a window seat which we asked for. Food was beautiful as always but the roasties where dry and a bit hard on the outside. They had been left in the oven to stay hot for too long and that drys them out. Other than that, perfect

We were staying at the Premier Inn next door and fancied a carvery. We were welcomed and taken to our tables then we were met with a very friendly server who served us our meats. You should be very proud of your staff, they were so friendly & nothing was too much trouble. The food was lovely, Beef was especially tender. We actually came back and ate again on the Saturday too :)

We went for Sunday lunch and it was very busy. The food was good, some things weren't as hot as I'd like, hence 4 stars. Waiter didn't scan my app after they said they had, so I didn't get credit for our meals.

Travelling back from a busy 3 day trade show eating not healthy grub ...thought ah ha...carvery...with loads of veg... Absolutely gorgeous....Great choice of meats and any amount of veg ...however.... The gravy was to die for❤️

Very Busy and this was 5:00pm .Had to wait about 10mins for a table, but what can the staff do they are very hard working and this shows as the cue can be long,on the self-service . As with all things popular eateries, the food was fresh. Five choices of meat, more veg than you can throw a stick at.One small complaint were sometimes the Toby gravy part can be become a bit messy.On the whole well done.

Booked a table for 1.10 pm and arrived on time.The lady on the seating desk said I'll take you to your table and tried to seat us in an area near the bar away from the main restaurant part.We said no we booked for the restaurant.She then claimed that this part is classed by them as part of the restaurant and we would have a 20 minute wait for a table in the main area and we said we would wait.whilst sat waiting for our table I commented to my wife about their classification of that area as part of the restaurant at which the seating lady interrupted commenting about what we were discussing which we considered very unprofessional of her. My wife replied to her that it was a private conversation. whilst we were sat waiting not one person was shown to the area that we declined even though there was other people waiting.We waited 10 minutes then decide to leave and go elsewhere.

We had a great time yesterday. It was good to have such a helpful server, Beth was so sweet. Our son was so amazed by her really cute reaction from him. The food was delicious. There was a lot to choose from. Easy access to the loo facilities for both our needs and our son. Will come again.

Our server at the Wolviston carvery, Kerry, was brilliant at her job; friendly, humorous and efficient. She even went the extra mile when I made an odd, off-menu, request for particular food. Most excellent - AAA

I wanted cheesecake for my dessert but the staff came over and said that the cheesecake was still in the freezer and that it wouldn't be defrosted in time so I had to order another dessert but apart from this problem meal was delicious and staff were nice

The meat was cut so thin the knife kept slipping off the front of the joint ting portion! I asked for more but told I had to pay for a king size, I thought his attitude was quite rude. The stuffing was dry and inedible. The drinks a complete rip-off. A bottle of Hardy’s Sauvignon blanc high street price £5.30 Toby price £19.95. Lemonade £3.70! Lots of people eating with their hands, frightfully experience. Probably shut soon.

Arrived at 12.30 lunch time and there was no gammon left, choose beef instead, wasn't too happy with the quality of the beef , lots of fat on it. 😝

We were running late due to a very important meeting so I rang the toby to say we were running late and I apologised. I was told it was not a problem and to see us soon. Great I thought. When we did arrive was told our table was cancelled and it was a 40 min wait for a table. I know the member of staff was named annabell ( I asked a member of staff her name). Well what a moody Mary she was really arsey with me and my family very rude n had a terrible attitude. If we were not so hungry we would of just walked out. Our food however was lovely and so was the waitress called Jeanette what a helpful friendly kind lady she was. If we do come back hopefully Jeanette will serve us again.

If your vegan this is the place to go,had 1 slice of gammon and I slice of beef cut that thin the chef missed the joint 3 times,shocking value for money,don't go there!

Upon entering we were greeted and escorted to our seat and ordered our drinks which were brought immediately the staff were friendly and polite and made our evening very enjoyable. The carvery had great choices in the meat available and the wide range of vegetables. Overall a very enjoyable visit.

I’m absolutely disgusted I have been fined £60 for eating at the Toby carvery hence I will not be returning again. I’ve noticed that numerous other people have had the same experience as me. Wouldn’t you think that by now the management would address this issue so people don’t fall foul of this any more ???. I’m shocked that Toby Carvery treat there customers in this way .
