Our visit was for a very important anniversary and although the initial greeting was friendly it was downhill after that. Ten minutes after arriving we were finally asked if we wanted a drink, another ten minutes and wrong drinks appeared, the reason given was they were busy although there were still empty tables. The menu was surprisingly limiting, more a lunchtime than dinner but I picked the burger and my wife had sea bream. The burger was ok but only came with fries, no salad just a teaspoon full of dreadful so called coleslaw. My wife’s fish was appalling, tiniest fillet with one new potato cut into four, she asked for more potatoes and by the time they arrived we had finished our meal. We spoke to the young lady head waiter who said they were busy and that the portions were normal before reluctantly taking a small amount off the bill. Big disappointment for our golden anniversary, we will not be coming back.

My friends and I had to request for our table to be cleaned twice once we were seated, which was a bit inconvenient. However, I must commend the beautiful atmosphere which was delightful to sit in and enjoy. Whilst the quality of meat served was lovely, I found the Yorkshire puddings to be rather tasteless, and the roast potatoes were soggy, not crispy, and lacked good seasoning. On a positive note, the portion size was just right, and the vegetables were fresh and delicious. We did have to ask for a gravy boat as the amount of gravy on the plate was sparse, but I appreciated being able to add the amount I wanted. Unfortunately, my dessert of Sticky toffee pudding was burnt on top, with an attempt to cover it up using caramel sauce, and there was only one very small scoop of ice cream. I also found the wine to be very overpriced and not warranted. Additionally, the service by the staff was nothing exceptional and did not justify the 10% gratuity that was automatically added. I find it quite rude that this charge is not optional, as we are not in the USA and our hospitality staff are generally paid well in comparison. I would expect automatic charges like this for a fine dining and sommelier experience, perhaps in the Main House, but not for The Glass House. I would suggest that the estate reviews their wine prices and applies optional service charges in the future.

Sunday lunch was OK The beef was excellent but the Yorkshire puddings not very good. However the meal was spoilt by being charged £15.70 for one large glass of Pinot Grigio. Disappointing.

5 adults, 5 children plus 1 in a highchair for Sunday lunch. Almost perfect (no brownies for children's desserts). The quality of all courses was superb. Main roast dishes were ample and perfect. I had bream. Delicious. Sadly no specific GF dessert for me (could have had ice cream but was full!) Service was attentive and prompt despite the restaurant being full. Can not recommend highly enough.

Went for Sunday lunch in the Glasshouse ....£32.00 for 3 courses . Fish cake/mackerel starter ... roast beef /chicken main...carrot cake/chocolate delice for dessert . Starters ok ..main course underwhelming (very fatty roast beef) small chicken breast . Added cauliflower cheese (£4.50 extra). Desserts ok ...nothing special . 10% service charge . Nothing much more to add as it wasn't anything special . Gardens to walk around but obviously not at their best in late October . Rose Garden will be stunning in earlier months .

Having booked this for my birthday and then reading the latest reviews I was somewhat nervous. However, we were greeted well, served with drinks fairly swiftly and then seated. The ambience of the place is lovely. We had Sunday lunch, 2 courses £29. The mains were good, enough to fill us and veg cooked just right. The crackling on the pork wasn't crispy but that was the only detractor. The staff were polite and attentive. Perhaps there's been a recent blip and they're now back on track.

My friend and I visited for a late lunch after our spa day also at Wynyard. This was a birthday celebration. I had made the booking online and used the notes section to mention a food intolerance. When we arrived, they had already annotated a menu for me to state which items were suitable or how they could be adapted. I have never known such lovely attention to detail. It made my food choice so straightforward and relaxing. The service was attentive and friendly, food was served quickly and was absolutely delicious. The surroundings are beautiful. Our meal ended our day out perfectly- just a wonderful, relaxed experience. Thank you.

Been to the gardens before and ate in the cafe which was good. This time coffee in the cafe and a look around the gardens and woodland walk, before an excellent three course lunch here, which was previously a shop and plant centre.. Staff brilliant, food exquisite, beautifully prepared and presented. Exceptional value at £30 per head. Lovely surroundings.

This was our 2nd visit to the glass house being hugely impressed with the last visit in 2022. The venue was as stunning as we remembered as were the staff who were friendly and attentive, the main course was very nice but I can't get my head around the price of the desserts which were between £9-10. I had plum with granola and vanilla ice cream which consisted of 3 half plums, 1 was poached the other 2 were hard, a small amount of what was essentially breakfast cereal and a very small scoop of ice cream, how this justified a £9 price tag is beyond me and definitely took the shine of our visit.
