Great service. Our waitress was very polite and helpful. Coffee was nice, food was ok. I ordered a full English and it was served cold. Cold scrambled eggs, beans, etc. plates were cold too. It’s a small thing but could have changed that breakfast around just to warm the plates before serving up.

Edit - went back April 2025, still just as good. This place is a good way to get the whole pub experience and eat at the same time. We had Chicken Schnitzel and Fried Hake, both were good. And of course so was the draft beer. It is a pub which serves food, but has no separate dining room/area, so make reservations and eat early-ish to avoid issues with people who come just to drink, using all the tables. This is a common issue with similar pubs if they get crowded.

Currently, the dinner I had at The Sun in Splendour is, without a doubt, the best I have ever had during all my trips to London. The place, very yellow on the outside, is the classic English pub that offers traditional dishes of the city accompanied by excellent beer. We basically tried a bit of everything: we started with prawns and chorizo, an interesting combination that created a great contrast between the sweetness of the prawns and the spiciness of the chorizo. We then shared three main courses, all sensational! The cheeseburger, in its simplicity, had tasty meat and perfectly cooked bacon, all covered in lots of cheddar; the fish & chips had, I think, the crispiest breading I have ever tried; finally the meat pie, for me the best I have eaten in years of traveling in the UK, had a very soft filling, it melted in the mouth, perfection if it were a pie. We couldn't help but try, after so much satisfaction, the dessert: the sticky toffle pudding was the worthy conclusion to an epic dinner. For me, as an Italian, even English cuisine has a great history and excellent flavors, and this pub is keen to tell its guests about it. We spent a bit but I don't regret a cent, a gastronomic experience like this is to be remembered and rewarded. I will return every time I return to London here, guaranteed.
