Very long wait, they forgot about us. Poor food, terrible service. It's a shame because the place is characteristic and the private outdoor garden is very nice.

The Champion is a very good pub. Friendly bar staff , and good drinks and food. Outside tables at the front , and a charming beer garden at the back , down some steps. This is what all good pubs should be like. Minutes away from Notting Hill Gate Underground station on the Central line.

This place is good. I want to say great but it's just good. Came here today for lunch ordered prawns with feta and chorizo. There was not a single prawn to be seen had to get a member of staff to take away and bring me one with prawns. They apologised and gave a free miniature of something called Moose sour cherry.. Anyway then ordered dessert sounded nice a cheesecake with popcorn and salted caramel but failed to hut the mark pretty tasteless sadly. I've loved this place for years but will I hurry back maybe not. However very friendly bar staff gets brownie points.

I'm japanese. I'm not good at English. I'm nourvous to enter restaurant that i don't know well. But it doesn't matter at all. Because the employees are friendly and professional. The meal was excellent. Thank you for I experienced that Pub culture of England.

This was our first pub in London we visited, which meant our first beer and meal. Both were terrific. Kept drinking the same beer throughout our trip, so good advice by the barman. Had great steak and squid for meal. Service was quick and place was tidy. Inside and limited outside tables. We ate there twice it was that good.

Best vegetarian kids menu in the whole world. The drinks are also 10/10, don’t miss the pineapple mezcalita.

My family was super jet-lagged when we went to this pub. The staff was very friendly and super sweet to my 2 year old. We plan on returning to check out their food!

Visited after a few years hiatus for a Sunday roast. We have eaten lots of roasts in the area at a similar price and I have to say this one was sadly a major disappointment. At £19 for a roast beef dinner I do expect a bit more, other pubs have really upped their game with regards to a roast. It tasted reheated. The beef was nice but well done even though I asked for pink and there wasn’t a lot of it. The meanest portion of potatoes and smallest Yorkshire pudding I have seen in a long time! Gravy ok. Just nothing special or worth the cost at all. Sauces just brought in jars when other places might put them in a ramekin for a nicer touch. Service really not as good as it used to be. We ended up fetching salt and pepper and various bits of cutlery for ourselves. No one came and asked if everything was ok, if we wanted dessert, they half cleared our empty plates but never came back for the rest. We still paid a service charge which felt somewhat unfair. I will say the children’s meal is quite good value at £8.50 for two courses, but I was so disappointed with the rest of the meal. In the past we’ve enjoyed very good food and service here so a real shame that it seems to have slipped.

went there to work - asked if the wifi worked great they said yes. £ hours later I have lost all my work - the wifi keeps cutting. Not even a discount ... please be honest

I went there last year and it was quite busy. I was with a large group but we were happy sitting on different tables or standing but we were rudely told that it wasn't possible and that we had to leave the pub, eventhough some of us had already ordered. We blamed it on the pub being quite busy and us being a large group. I came back yesterday with a similarly large group and we were able to get (separate) tables this time, but the staff was just as rude and unfriendly as last year, and since the tables were separate, it surely had nothing to do with the size of our group. It just seemed like they were annoyed by the mere idea of having customers. I don't know what's the point of working in a pub then... Edit 07/2024: I came back a few days ago with a similar group as last year and the year before and I was finally very positively surprised. The waiters were this time very nice and caring and there was a very good atmosphere in the pub. I think I'll be pleased to go back!

Just walking by, looking for a place to eat. Atmosphere, music and greeting drew us inside. Not disappointed, Food great, beer cold and lovely helpful service. Highly recommend

They made my mom mistakenly pay a lot more than she should have, they said they would accredit the money back on her card and in 2 days they would’ve been arrived. we went back to our hometown (we were on vacation) but these never arrived.

Couldn't complete the online survey as it doesn't recognize non-UK mobile numbers. Anyway, perfect place for some lunch - nice atmospheric pub with friendly and welcoming staff. We had the fish and chips, nice crispy fresh batter with mushy peas on the side, washed down with a lovely pint of Camden Pale Ale. No London Pride on tap :( another reason to visit when I'm back again. the team doing a fantastic job. Great tunes on as well :)

Great British pub! Friendly bar staff and good vibes. Came to watch the Euro Cup and found myself back here a few times during our stay. 10/10 would recommend. If you're new to British lagers or ales, ask Jacob behind the bar. He was super helpful and nice.

Great pub! Highly recommend. Came in a couple of times as our hotel was close. The bar staff was friendly and funny. As I live in California, I'm newer to British lagers and ales. Jacob behind the bar was particularly helpful. Coming back tonight to watch the Euro Cup.

Lively pub with tasty food. We stopped in as it was near our Airbnb and we didn’t want to go far for dinner. We were impressed with the high quality of the food. Everything was delicious and the wait staff were kind and helpful.

We stumbled upon the Champion after wandering Kensington Park. We then realized it was the place Freddie Mercury wrote 'We are the Champions!' The food was SUPERB! The staff was witty, hilarious, and so attentive. They were HIGHLY kind and accommodating to our many children (SIX!) and made us feel like family. So lovely and made our stay in London magical.

We love it and recommend it A PUB as we imagined. We went as a family (me, my wife, and our children). Pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. We were very well attended to, even though we didn't speak English, we were able to communicate. We ordered the traditional Fish end Chips accompanied by a great draft beer, our children ordered a burger and simply loved it. We stayed in the basement, very intimate.

Wonderful stop and our waiter Jakob was so awesome we made reservations for dinner. A comfortable friendly atmosphere with cool history! We will return again if back in London!

It's a great boozer. Only stopped for a drink but liked the vibe. A fine selection of beers too and fruit based drinks for others. Will be back Update June 24th 2024: We revisited this pub on June 22nd 2024 and was overcharged for our bar food order. I think £36 for 2 lots of chips, chorizo sausage, sourdough bread and a pint is a little too much than what we should have paid.

Sunday roast it was coming quickly and big quantity beef roast very testey . Asian fridge chicken was very crispy .

All I can say if you are a Queen fan please visit as this was where Queen and Freddie Mercury wrote the song We are the Champions. They used to go here a lot and there are photos in the Mercury Lounge downstairs. Food delicious had chorizo sausage, chips and sour dough bread and butter staff amazing and really lovely and friendly will pop in again.

Very nice. A bit expensive but one shorter girl with brown hair there was very very nice to us. And on the other hand one tall skinny guy didn’t get his name was totally ignoring us and also made me a wrong cocktail and but anyways..

We had a lovely time, great atmosphere and attentive service. Thank you Devangi for looking after us. Thank you kindly.

A hearty British meal can be enjoyed in this traditional pub setting with good service from the waitresses and bar man alike. Would recommend to any visitor.

I came especially for Freddie Mercury. I wasn't disappointed. The waitress told me installed in the Freddie Mercury lounge room. ❤️😊 The team is very nice and we eat very well. Obviously this place is very special!! I find this restaurant very pretty the exterior. So fan or not fan of Freddie Mercury I recommend this address. Special mention for my waitress😉

If we want a good roast, we will make our way across London to eat here.

The place was recommended by the hotel desk. The attention sucks. Waiters treat people very bad, and you can easily wait 30 mins to get a beer. Definitively not recommended if you want to spend a nice time .

Good atmosphere and OK pub food but..... although nice the staff is completely (as in, UNBELIEVABLY, this is written fairly and by a frequent traveller) disorganised. Incomplete orders (had to ask 6 TIMES for missing crisps, ketchup, etc), the QR code on the tables which you can order from is (which you hear after the fact) "not to be used as it was for covid" (well... how about removing the qr code plates from the tables maybe? It is only 4 years). This place has potential but need a manager and some commitment.

The ambience was perfect; the music, the volume, the customer service. I had the sea food linguine and it was the best thing I’ve had in a while. The prawns and calamari were appropriately seasoned, cooked and were the best part of my meal. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone confused on what to have from the menu. Happy eating!

Very nice little pub, shows the sports, staff friendly. Gets a bit of a tourist crowd being next to the park but still very pleasant. Good selection of beer, would go again.

I loved eating the sausage and mush the quantity was huge. I enjoyed the food. I would urge everyone to come to Champion at least once . I came to London from Australia for a week. I like the Notting Hill area very much. Champion in Nottinghill is too good a sin . *****

Ohh I can see another pub going out of business. There was one person in the pub and I still had to sit down for 5 mins to wait to be served. Didn't have my drink so went for something else £3.45 for half pint of soft drink. Enough to drive you to alcohol. Disappointing

Not a fan. Used to be a great pub, now it's a confused restaurant where you order food at the bar but can't stand there to have a drink....Never seen a pub that you have to wait at the door to be seated, only for a barman to wave you in...not to mention the eye watering prices for sub par choices in brew. Just go to the Earl of Lonsdale down the road... If you don't get berated by drunk puking staff, you might find some joy I guess in the garden.

Our “go-to” pub in the evening during our short trip to London. For me it's "the" pub par excellence. Stylish, classic ambience, comfortable tables and benches. Food and drink excellent!

Very cute pub, sadly roast dinner wasn't great. It arrived to table cold and quite tasteless with tiny amount of gravy. When asked for more we had to wait quite a while.. Cauliflower cheese was probably the best part of Sunday Roast. Service was very slow.

Great time had by all. We bought in our family over visiting the UK. Staff looked after us, straight away got a table, serviced straight away. Food , amazing, the new salads , stop on. The “tourists “ with us, loved the fish n chips

Had a group booking here last week that the head office booking manager had accidentally got the wrong date for. These things sometimes happen but... With zero notice Jamie organised food for us and managed to salvage the event. I want to say a big thank you to Jamie for improvising and to Hasan and Rajin in the kitchen who deliverered with very short notice. 😊

The food is great. We stopped by here by chance and were not disappointed! We ate a club sandwich and the Camembert in sourdough bread - it was really great.

Quality combined with excellent service!

My husband and I stopped by after a day of sightseeing. We didn't have an advance reservation, fortunately, thanks to the help of the polite manager, after waiting a while we managed to get a free table (the people with the reservation did not show up). The fish & chips I ordered were amazing 😋 One star deducted for the forgotten English cream crumble. I heartily recommend it!

Very dissapointed with my visit to this pub. Worst service I’ve ever received where waiters were not able to assign me a table when arriving (even when there were free unreserved ones) and when I was finally told to sit in one of them another waiter came in to ask me to leave the table as it was booked (that was confussing, rude and unrespectful). Waiters did not pay attention either to bring the menu or take my order so eating here was a hustle :( Food was good though.

This pub refused to put the champions league on. They have televisions. Another example of how london is going to the dogs. Disgraceful

This place is a good way to get the whole pub experience and eat at the same time. We had Chicken Schnitzel and Fried Hake, both were good. And of course so was the draft beer. It is a pub which serves food, but has no separate dining room/area, so make reservations and eat early-ish to avoid issues with people who come just to drink, using all the tables. This is a common issue with similar pubs if they get crowded.

every time I come to London, The Champion Pub is a must. I'm in love with Queen and Freddie Mercury in particular and this place makes me feel good. furthermore, the food is good and the beer is excellent. The staff is exceptional. Also recommended for dinner

Well what can I say been here twice before and always lovely but todays food was a joke big let down for everyone on Easter.first fish chips stone cold.they corrected it thou.kids chicken an chips an burger both fine but mixed up the sides then brought broccoli with chillies on it. The 2 shared roast there was rock hard roast potatoes and veg . Very rare beef and fatty cuts too, pork and chicken were ok. We found a few hairs wrapped around the potatoes. we paid bill and didn't complain but will not be going there ever again. oh and service was rubbish. An it's well over priced 7 people 1 drink each 2 shared roast fish an chips burger chips chicken chips £180 with service charge. I felt they shouldn't got a penny today or at least took service charge an drinks off. Anyway like I said the two times before were great but been a year so must gone right down hill sadly.

I paid for beer today, the hairy bartender said that I didn’t pay for anything, although I showed him the transaction on my phone, so he just poured out my beer. Don't go to this pub, you will be scammed!

Typical and traditional gastro pub. I only visited for a short period of time. Service and food were quite good.

Beautiful, quite secluded little pub in a great spot. Elegantly festive at Christmas time and a really cosy vibe.

Visited today with a friend. Came in first to check with the staff if they have chicken Sunday roast still available. Been told they don’t miss anything from the menu. Sat down and got comfortable. Pub was almost empty. I waited 15 min and no one came with the menus or even ask if we need anything. Stuff of this place were literally hiding in the corner and talking in w bigger group of 5, 6 people on their phones, having fun. I got up to the bar and ask for the food menu and asked as well if there is a table service which surprisingly answers was yes. Went back to the table and then after another 10 min finally waitress arrived telling us there is no roast chicken left! Still wanted to have a nice meal with a friend so decided to give it a go and stay. Well that was a mistake! Ordered beef roast which came completely cold and my fish was literally so oily ( it was like an oily and super salty fish soup on my plate). Ordered side of fries and those were reheated for sure several times. None of this food was fresh that’s for sure. Complained about cold beef got it back new plate after a while but smaller portion. My friend finished her meal already while I was waiting for my food. No one came even once check is everything ok. Again in the end I had to go to the bar and ask about the bill and this came really quickly to the table. Different this time Waitress came and only then asked as how was our food and when we said horrible … she straight away said let me removed service charge and disappeared again. No other question asked. I could not be bothered either. It was not at all about money for my friend. As we paid in the end anyway but literally I was looking forward to have today just a nice meal and service for this couple of hours as a treat and this was just so bloody disappointing. I love going out to London’s pubs but you guys are literally not even on my list anymore. Hope you can improve customer service one day cause of your staff doesn’t know what to do when pub ow empty…then I don’t know what your service look like on your busy days. This all made me only sad.

Great pub, local little gem located in Notting Hill Gate. Been going here for years and noticed a change in bar staff (obviously due to a change in management). Unfortunately the service isn't what it should be. I went here recently with a friend for a couple of drinks. Got to the bar and stood there for a little bit while the staff were too busy having a little chat. I consider this unprofessional, especially when you have punters waiting to be served. You shouldn't keep your customers waiting and you shouldn't give attitude when asking what you'd like. Aside from that I'd give this 4/5 stars (minus one star due to the lack of customer service).

A boozer with actual fireplaces in central London! Was able to secure a chair next to the fireplace on the main level, and it was surprisingly secluded. Solid pints, definitely recommend.

Multiple items not available that were on menu. Ordered fries that never came. Still paid for them because I was tired of waiting. Offered refund an hour later. Not worth it. Never coming back.

Popped in for lunch after skating at the Queens and didn’t fancy the burgers there. To cut to the chase, this was the. Est fish and chips I’ve ever had, with crispy batter and clean, white fresh-as—sea fish. The chicken burger was also delicious, not that my son or wife left me any to try. The grill was broken, which left the menu choices a little limited, but that didn’t matter as it happened. A fine London Pride too, and some fresh grassy Sauvignon by the glass. Perfect
