Really nice and characteristic pub, very colorful on the outside. Helpful and kind staff. Exceptional burgers and chips (ditto the sauces)! It is open all day, so you can have lunch with great flexibility in terms of time. Highly recommended! After 7 months I returned with my daughter and I must say that in a restaurant, the staff makes the difference. We had a waitress (in any case a young blonde lady with her hair tied up) who was very sullen and not smiling at all. She was probably tired, but her manner is not that of someone who knows how to be in public. The atmosphere of the pub is always characteristic and the music is good

Unwelcoming, told to move in an empty pub. Secret garden smoke filled non-oasis. Better pubs further up the road. No reason to return.

Had the fish and chips which was fantastic. Service was second to none 👍 . Also adapted the changes I needed from peas to salad.

Great location and cute little secret garden. There is a seated service, which is great sometimes. We were lucky to get a table but missed a more pubby vibe. The food was great though. The staff are also very attentive.

What a lovely place to end (or start) a stroll down Portobello Road. Only had drinks, but really enjoyed sitting in the garden and taking in the atmosphere.

You have obviously decided that you will take every £ you can from passing tourists and do not care about repeat business from local patrons/ families like us. We would eat here more often as the food was great but our £230 bill for 6 Sunday afternoon meals and soft drinks is criminal.

Fish & Chips delicious, crunchy, tasty. Attentive, precise and attentive service. Bright room and relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended for couples, families, individuals, for everyone. The accompanying sauce is phenomenal. Good choice of draft beers and soft drinks. We had a really good time! Compliments!

The Secret Garden courtyard is a nice place to sit, drink and dine. The terrace heaters help to make it comfortable.

Best fish n chips that I ever had ..

Entré un peu hasard pour grignoter quelque chose après une solide balade dans Notting Hill et voulant absolument éviter les pièges à touristes, c’est la façade hors norme mais tellement locale de cet endroit qui nous a amené à entrer. Terrible ! Un super accueil, un chouette cadre mais surtout un Cheese Burger à tomber parterre ! Une viande délicieuse et un Buns parfait ! Beaucoup de gens autour de nous avaient l’air de se régaler avec des Fish&Chips… donc clairement, si vous voulez casser la croûte dans près de Notting Hill, foncez !

The Sun is indeed In Splendour. We visited some days ago for a drink but we ended up having dinner also! The beer was really good and the fish and chips was spectacular, everything was perfectly prepared in the dish! Dessert was also good, rhubarb tarte served hot with vanilla ice cream. I would like to shoutout the amazing staff, two beautiful and kind girls, a blonde and a brunette which were extremely kind and helpful, they made our day. Would definitely recommend if you happen to be in Notting Hill!

It was cool and food was amazing

A lot of people given its location next to Portobello market. I feared the "touristy" side for this reason but no negative complaints. Pleasant pub from the outside and inside with pleasant staff and luckily a table became available when we arrived. The dishes were good but well sold which will be my only downside in terms of price with a pub which seems to take full advantage of its location.

Revisited pub with a modern and bright environment. The food is simple, but tasty. I tasted the very tasty meat pie. It also has a small outdoor garden. The girls who work there are attentive and courteous

One of my favourite pubs in London, brought some visitors and they also loved it. Also stumbled upon a pub quiz which was fun and a bit more tourist friendly than other pub quizzes. Food is good quality.

£20 for drinks for two people? The waiter was nice but the manager was rude and aggressive. Inconsistent with their charging of water–gave our friends free tap water and charged us for it

The best Fish and Chips, lovely service and great atmosphere

Firstly, the food we were served was either bland or over salted. Then, when i asked for the drink menu I was given bottled water that I did NOT ask for and was later charged £3 per bottle for 4 bottles. Where we asked for a refund, the manager admitted the waitress’ mistake but forced us to pay the bill regardless. The waitress was rude and abruptly left our table mid order on more than one occasion. The night was also worse by the women’s bathroom which had tree branches coming through the window. Also, the bottled water and the tap water seemed to be given at random, meaning that everyone was charged differently for water and even those who received tap water were charged for it. Another one of my friends was told that the drinks were free and was only told she had to pay once she received the bill and again, when the waitress admitted her mistake, the friend was still forced to pay the large bill. Overall, it was a very unpleasant and stressful experience.

Second time lunching here. The fish and chips are simply divine, perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The service is super friendly, attentive, and welcoming. I’ll definitely be back for more!

Very nice place to eat one of the most popular specialties Fish and chips. You really are in a typical restaurant where the food is good and the staff really welcoming. I recommend the Camden town beer and for dessert the ginger pudding.

We were walking in the neighborhood and we noticed that there was a fish&chips place. It was crowded but we happily had seats. The staff is lovely 😊 we ordered this specialty with a beer 🍺 and a glass of red of red wine. This was really delicious 😋. Good environment and even it’s small try your luck. And as there wasn’t cheesecake for dessert I tried the pudding. Really surprised because it was great. For those who want to try Fish&chips I recommend 👍🏻 And many thanks to the staff for their hospitality!!

Sunday afternoon pub lunch totally packed. Reservations were made prior but had to wait 15 mins before given table. Food was fine, service friendly.

We loved this pub. We were happy to get a table on a busy Saturday. It was full but still got a great service The wine options were great and we had a gorgeous Malbec. To eat, we tried a few starters and sides that were yummy. Overall, we loved it!

Good cheese burger and chicken burger. Portions normal, not larger than average. Friendly and fast service. On Tuesday it was/is burger day, then you get 1 pint of beer (7.50) for free, which makes the visit significantly cheaper, clear recommendation. It should be clear to everyone that London is an expensive city. Audience not just touristy, but well mixed.

A nice pub, but I was hoping for a lot more from the impressive menu online. Out of sheer anticipation, I had made a reservation for the Sunday roast weeks before our holiday, but then realized that when we made the reservation that evening it had long since sold out and the kitchen could literally only offer us leftovers (a warmed-up Yorkshire pudding, the last half chicken, the last fish & chips that have now been fried again, etc.). In the end, the food was extremely greasy and not very creative. But the band and the quiet, friendly atmosphere in this well-kept and pretty pub were great. However, there wasn't much going on, almost everyone went home at 9 p.m.

This used to be a characterful little boozer, great for a rendezvous. Not now. We’re greeted by “wait to be seated” sign. In a pub. On a Friday afternoon. Shown to our table, I ordered a pint of Young’s, usually a dependable quality bitter. It was sour, cloudy and off. I returned it. The guy next to us had the same beer, and left having hardly touched his. I ordered a Peroni, which at around £7.50, is pricier than the West End. The service was bored and perfunctory. The music was conversation-impeding and unnecessarily loud, in a vain attempt to chase “atmosphere”. It’s a shame. What was a very pleasant start to an amble up Portobello Rd, is best passed by.

We had the fish and chips, nice crispy fresh batter with mushy peas on the side, washed down with a lovely pint of Camden Pale Ale. No London Pride on tap :( another reason to visit when I'm back again. Jamie and the team doing a fantastic job. Great tunes on as well :)

The singer, ambiance, food and people all jamming in the Sun in Spendour was a unique London experience. Jamie - the manager - made that special moment happen based on solid experience. We will let Jamie know when next time in town for to live that same experience gain.

I like the pub. Nice interior, tasty food and refreshing drinks

On a Friday night with our crew of six, having a table reservation definitely made things easier. The vibe at the bar is chill and the drink options are solid. Prices are fair for this spot. The only downside was that the music was a bit loud, making it hard to hear anyone more than one person away - overall, still a decent spot for a laid-back night out.

Il y avait beaucoup de monde le jour où nous sommes arrivés, mais nous avons été accueillis assez rapidement. La nourriture est arrivée chaude, les frites étaient bonnes. La première meat pie était bonne, bien que la pâte soit un peu épaisse.
