This is one of our favorite pubs for food and drinks before spending the day walking up and down Portobello Road.

We stopped by 'The Sun in Splendour' for a quick drink. Ended up having a couple. My wife had a Leffe, I had a Fullers London Pride. Then we both had a Camden Pale Ale. Very nice. We sat in the rear garden of the pub. Very nice landlord who served us and had a quick chat with. There was also a really friendly alsation doggy who stayed in the pub garden with us for quite a while. And with a sunny day as well, absolutely bliss!

I know I give very generous reviews, but this restaurant was outstanding. I went to this restaurant with 3 family members and a friend, and they all hreatly enjoyed their time at this place. The food was great, the chicken bacon cheese burger is what I had for lunch, and it was very filling. I left full and satisfied, with extra chips to eat another time. From who I went with, they all said that the food they ate was great, specifically saying they like the sirloin steak meal. The service was great too, the server was nice, and didn't waste time. He got our orders and came at the with all the food in the right order and all coming with good speed. I would estimate the main dishes came out in about 10-15 from ordering them. I sat in the secret gardens, they were very pretty but you would have to come at a less busy time to sit there. And even if you sit there if you are in a group of 5 or more you would most likely need to sit at multiple tables. But even if, the secret garden is a great place to sit and from what I saw the rest of the inside seating seemed very pretty. Great restaurant, great food, great experience. I highly recommend coming to this restaurant, it is a great experience and has great food.

A very well located affair, we had a pleasant time, very pleasant and friendly staff, the Burger was perfect and the fish and chips too, we walked the street with the shops and the market to see.

This place is a surprise. We were just passing by and said why not get it and found a great place to have lunch with great Sunday food. Looking at the wall board I found that everyday there is something special there which makes the curiosity even bigger. We had Sunday roast and beer and enjoyed every bit of it. I totally recommend it

Lovely sunday roast, really tasty and well cooked but unfortunately quite bad sticky toffee pudding. It was really dry, no soaked with caramel/toffee sauce at all, and no sauce on top either, also very ginger-y. Such a shame because we came years ago and had a very good memory of it.

The Sunday roast is still pretty stellar. However, the sticky toffee pudding is served without toffee sauce... which, aside from feeling a bit offensive, just leaves it really dry and unpleasant. Shame because we remember it being better

My wife my 5 month old daughter and I were struggling to find somewhere to eat on a very busy Sunday at Portobello market. Sam opened the door most tables were full or reserved, with a kind smile and a solution oriented mindset he figured out a way to seat us. I then watched him orchestrate seating a sea of guests in creative ways. From the secret garden to time limits on reserved tables to drinks at the bar until a table became available. Sam didn’t turn 1 customer away. This is the difference between return customers and not returning - it’s the difference between potentially hundreds of thousands in revenue in a year. I’m sure the training at the company must be really great or Sam is just 1 in a million either way I wanted to write this not only to recommend the great food but also to remind Sam and his team who constantly checked how we were and how was out food, but also how you did what you did with a can do attitude and effortless at being excellent is so rare these days ! Thanks again 💪🤩

Excellent place in London to eat. With my family we had a very delicious lunch. The owner was very friendly, we talked about our country (Argentina) that he knew, and the service was very attentive. Highly recommended, and surely if we return to London, we will go again.

I am writing this review while sitting at a high table because we enjoyed our fish and chips so much. We have eaten a lot of tasty treats in the Netherlands, but these really hit everything. So crispy and fresh, together with the delicious fries and sauce. We are unsure whether we will order another portion now because we actually want to discover even more gems. If you are in the area, definitely take a look and enjoy.

Zittend aan een hoog tafeltje schrijf ik deze review omdat we zo waanzinnig hebben genoten van onze vis en chips. In Nederland hebben we veel lekkerbekjes gegeten maar deze slaan werkelijk alles. Zo knapperig en vers en dat samen met de heerlijke patat en de saus. We twijfelen of we nu nog een portie gaan bestellen want we willen eigenlijk nog meer pareltjes ontdekken. Als je in de buurt bent ga zeker even kijken en genieten.

Popped in here for a quick lunch. There were six of us and they seated us immediately. The waiter was very attentive and made great food and drink suggestions. The falafel burger and chicken burgers were excellent. We also loved the olives and halloumi fries. My son was disappointed in the fish and chips, but it’s because they use haddock instead of cod. If you like haddock, the fish is good. The mulled wine hit the spot on a chilly afternoon.

I found this place when I was browsing around the Portobello Road Market. There were lot of tourists including me but I had a very nice time and the food and the beer were super delicious! I would like to comeback again!

Nos sorprendió la calidad y la selección de la comida - mucho mejor que la tarifa estándar del pub (aunque tienen eso también, por ejemplo, pescado con patatas fritas, hamburguesas). Yo tenía la pasta con mariscos y él tenía la panza de cerdo con puré (suena gracioso pero estaba delicioso). Luego la manzana - ciruela se desmenuza con natillas de postre. Me sorprendieron algunos de los comentarios negativos... pero - a diferencia de algunos otros - sí me gusta que alguien nos reconozca y nos siente cuando entramos en lugar de luchar por una mesa libre y esperando llamar la atención de un camarero.

Amazing fish & chips! One of the best I ever had. The staff was very friendly and attentive.

We had such a sweet time at this pub. The staff were genuinely lovely, the owner chatted to customers and even brought down his gorgeous bear of a dog, Bertie, so i could give him a pat! Bertie was just gorgeous! We popped in after a morning at the portobello markets and had beer and drinks, and it was a comfy place to take a break. The interior is lovely and unfussy with cute christmas decorations. Thanks so much!

Food is bad and soooo overpriced, very small small portions for a cold roast with microwaved potatoes. Pig in blankets tasted off and deep fried. Even the gravy was cold. Service is hit and miss, friendly but unavailable or hard to get. Very basic and too pricey. Got given the bill without even asking.one beer and a roast £40 each insane.

Food was pretty mid, got kicked off a table because it was all of a sudden reserved after we paid the bill even through no signs were there and we were still finishing our drinks The service was really bad in short and the food you’d be better going elsewhere

At the end of Portobello road, cozy pub and good food. The dishes are served hot. Very good stopover in the middle of a day in Notting Hill. London prices but reasonable: £113 for 4 courses, 1 dessert (excellent brownie), 2 coffees, 1 water, 1 pint.

Popped inside here for a pint of neck oil after wandering around the market. Nice interior, friendly staff and a decent looking menu.

We stopped here to try real London food and I must say everything was really delicious! I got the pork with mashed red cabbage and applesauce. There was also another delicious sauce. Really excellent and recommended!
