I thought they were just trying a bit too hard to "be outstanding" but then slightly missed out on focusing on satisfying the customer. Each of our (4) meals were good, consistent with the price. A few elements were really memorable - like the venison ragout, and the mackerel starter with crispy skin. I found the vegetarian starter (carrots/cheese sauce) and main (pumpkin, several ways) somewhat fussy in its presentation. Silver Birch offer either a tasting menu at £110pp or the 5 course menu. Of the 5 courses, one course was a tiny amuse-bouche and the second was a slice of home-made bread with herb butter (usually complementary in top end restaurants), as preludes to the starter/main/dessert. Portions are very small. Reader, I went home and had toast. Service was a bit gauche. I'd pre-specified food allergies etc but our request for information about these as we ordered seemed to be quite a surprise. I didn't feel that there was a wrap-around focus on our wants/needs. And the insistence on telling us about each element of each of our dishes, how long different components had been marinaded, and so on took quite a while when we were simply waiting to try for ourselves. The server also talked about himself and his personal circumstances a fair bit. We engaged with him and heard him out, but I felt quite uncomfortable.

Best service, best coffee and Guiness. The bar staff Ignat& Pedja are professional and very helpfull.

The restaurant itself is aesthetically pleasing, ultra clean, and very welcoming from the outside. As for their menu, then it's been kept simple enough, with everything made to fit on a single sheet. But, what makes this place stand out from the crowd is that they offer diners the choice of having their chicken wings, strips and wraps either fried or grilled. Juxtapose all that to the five marinations available and, according to our maths, that makes at least 30 different combos to try (that's not including the vegan options). Didn't find anything too special about this place. Went at lunch time, it was not really crowded. I ordered a burger with sweet potatoes fries. Burger was good but nothing really special. Meat was too cooked to my taste (none of us were asked how we'd like the meat cooked). Sweet potatoes fries were excellent. Service was ok. Not much more to say about this experience.

Clean, the servers are friendly. Good atmosphere during the matches!

Nice friendly pub and quick serving bar staff. Met some friends here, the bar staff were friendly, had decent ales on and good craft beer. Will definitely return

Came here for lunch with aunt and cousin last week and it was fairly decent. I had the hamburger medium rare and it was actually very tasty. Others had fish and chips (large portions), ratatouille and salmon. Really decent place. It is also very handy as it is just along the high road itself.

We have been coming to this lovely cafe for the past 5 years. We love it, but as of late, the pigeons are spoiling what was always a pleasant visit. They are jumping on tables to steal peoples food outside, and today are flying about the inside of the cafe. If nothing is done about this, I’m afraid we will not be visiting the cafe again, as it is a health hazard and a nuisance .
