Didn't find anything too special about this place. Went at lunch time, it was not really crowded. I ordered a burger with sweet potatoes fries. Burger was good but nothing really special. Meat was too cooked to my taste (none of us were asked how we'd like the meat cooked). Sweet potatoes fries were excellent. Service was ok. Not much more to say about this experience.

Passed Charlotte's tonight but all closed up. Sign on the door says they are closed due to lack of gas but all the spirits have been cleared from the bar. Looks permanently closed.

Good wholesome good value food and when we mentioned that one of the desserts was a little disappointing we were offered complimentary coffees. A sign of a good restaurant in my book.

Attractive bar area as you enter. Seating for dining up a low flight of stairs further back. Elegantly presented food...& delicious. Good value. Three us had wine, mains, and dessert for around £100. Excellent service.

Average food with a very aggressive waitress plates cleared before finishing - as for the toilets totally disgusting hopefully the kitchen was cleaner - only 1 toilet working for everyone - bins overflowing- YUK

Apprehensive about having early diner here with my son and partners on visit to London after reading recent reviews but it was lovely. Friendly attentive service but not overdone. Food delicious especially octopus and sea bream. Happy birthday chocolate on my dessert plate. Would definitely go again.

We found the menu a little strange. Some unusual food combinations but it worked. The dishes were very tasty. Service was really good. Attentive and not rushed.

None of us had eaten at Charlotte’s for a while so we’re looking forwards to catch over a nice meal. The food was good but the service off point - not only was it bordering on rude, but felt as though they didn’t want to be there. Shame. Shan’t be going back.

This was an occasion when a corporate guest of two fantastic business ladies, so one's criticisms were muted at the time. However, I had a great start with delicious chicken parfait - wonderfully light and creamy with superb flavour served in a little pot with sourdough toast. My main course was confit of duck leg with white beans but the leg was so confit'ed that it was almost devoid of flesh. I asked for a portion of boiled new potatoes and the waiter bought a dish containing no less than 10 large spuds - perhaps to make up for the lack of duck leg flesh? I just hope that he did not try to charge my hosts for a triple rather than single portion,,,?I would not make a diversion to eat at this Turnham Green restaurant

Tired decor, underwhelming food, nice staff. Do not go on a Sunday. Even the manager said the Sunday chef’s food let the restaurant down and on other days it was better. £40 per head, it was not worth it.

Their prices looked very attractive at 20£ for the 3 set menu. However, their wine is quite pricey and with service you end up with a bill of 35£ per person for a food that is quite average. Nice service though. Pass

An extremely disappointing evening, the waitress could not have made us feel less welcome if she tried, everything was just too much effort she really needs to quit. Because we were a large party (11) we had a restricted menu only 3 choices for Starter/Main&Desert; which was just not enough choice we had 3 vegetarians with us who did not want Risotto ! Reluctantly they were allowed a dish from the main menu. No Salt and Pepper on tables, no side plates for bread, no Coka Cola available and not alternative offered, when starter cutlery cleared we were not laid up for main course instead the waitress just handed our cutlery to be passed down the table ! The food when it came was tepid - not nice ! The portions were small - Nothing special here at all. The Creme Brullee was cold and really felt it was made at 11.00am and had just been sat on the side ever since, & it was over flavoured with Thyme - it was just so poor ! Only one toilet was working and it certainly was not a clean room - the bin was filthy the skirting board thick with dust - Come on Charlotte's what the heck ! We did not pay the service charge - there was no service this was the worst meal we have had out in London for many many years.

Had lunch with friends . Restaurant was empty except for us but we were treated with indifference and did not feel welcome. Food quality was below average, waitress surly. An experience not to be repeated!

Tenía ganas de almorzar con amigos pero estaba tristemente decepcionado. Solo nos dieron el menú fijo del almuerzo, pero había suficiente variedad. Los entrantes eran bastante inusuales, pero fui por la ensalada de remolacha, que era bastante sabrosa. Sin embargo, los platos principales fueron una decepción. The restaurant was far from busy, more empty tables than ones occupied so we were all very disappointed to be told when ordering that the roast was finished! We asked if the vegetables could be served if we chose another meat dish. The waitress went to check and returned to say they were all finished too. We chose from the menu determined to make the most of our get together. To say what was served was hugely disappointing puts it mildly. Dull, uninspiring and we could have cooked and presented it better ourselves. The meal with a bottle of house wine was £40 a head. There were 3 of us. We felt robbed and one member of the group went to complain to the manager who apologised saying it was out of his control, the owners decided everything. On the plus side our waitress couldn’t have been more helpful. Will not be returning.

Two of us had dinner last night and overall it was an enjoyable night. There's a good range of cocktails and I like the idea of having a drink at the bar before sitting for food. Bar service a little slow and sombre but ok.

Really nice food in unpretentious surroundings. I found it difficult to decide between the various dishes in each section of the menu. They were all tempting to me. Very interesting combinations of ingredients. Thoroughly recommended to lovers of good cuisine.

Used to be such a great place to eat in Chiswick....... Now just a place to avoid & seriously poor on all fronts......cocktail bar, food, service. How did it go so wrong???

I was looking for a more upscale place for myself and the kid, a teen who appreciates his food when I came across this bistro.

Not terrible but considering the price, and 12.5% service charge, it should be much better than it is. Had two courses and 2 drinks, for two people about £100. Service very slow and we found the staff disinterested. Took a long time to take orders and for drinks to arrive, mains were nice enough but not very hot. Puddings very average. Wine very nice though. Ultimately you're paying extra to be in a fashionable part of west London, not for amazing food. For similar money you could feasibly get a set menu deal somewhere in mayfair and the food would be much nicer than this!

This is the 3rd and final chance I will give Charlotte’s bistro. From the moment we arrived at our table we were told we only had a set time to eat and that because we were 15 mins late for our booking they would have to rush us. Instead of taking the drinks order and giving us some time to choose our food, we were told we had to order all of our drinks and food within 1 minute because otherwise we wouldn’t have time to eat. The main course was brought out seconds after the starter and the pudding arrived before the main course plates had even been taken away. The whole meal felt like we weren’t supposed to be there and they were doing us a favour by feeding us (which clearly wasn’t the case going by the amount we paid!). As if this wasn’t bad enough, the food was extremely bland and a massive disappointment (well, for my partner at least - I was sadly expecting it to be mediocre although I was really hoping it had improved since my last visit a couple of years ago). To top it all off, the bill was much higher than expected because despite the waitress listing loads of things as being included in the ‘early diner deal’, half of them actually incurred a surcharge. I’ve been to hundreds of restaurants in and around London over the years and clearly I should have known better than to give Charlotte’s another chance. We won’t be going back.

Our drinks, starters and mains were all served very quickly and then everything slowed right down and there was a very long gap before we were offered the dessert menu.

The lamb and sea bass were amazing. The only criticism was that the sauces were SO good there needed to be more. A litre more!

We came here after a gin tasting event at the Sipsmith distillery locally and was part of the experience. The bistro was very crowded which was a good sign.

Locale carinissimo e con ottima cucina! Staff gentile, prezzi nella media...ho provato il risotto ai funghi, tartufo e pecorino...buonissimo! Ottimo

We arrived for our booked time and was told the table wasn’t ready and they didn’t know when it would be. We had 4 children with us and they didn’t seem in a rush to sit us. We weren’t offered a drink on the house or anything.

Lovely local restaurant, relaxed vibe with fantastic staff, they were very accommodating. Food is wonderful and great value for money. We will be back very soon!

Ich hatte ein Dinner anlässlich meines Geburtstags für mich und meine Frau gebucht. Ein paar Tage vorher rief mich das Restaurant an um die Buchung nochmals zu bestätigen. Der Abend war durchzogen von super Service, tollen Drinks und absolut feinem Essen. Es war einer meiner schönsten Geburtstage.

La salle est très bruyante, mais la carte est attractive. Ce qui arrive dans l'assiette est moins fin que ce que nous attendions mais reste très acceptable. La grande déception vient d'un des vins dont le bouchon est une capsule à vis (l'autre bouteille avait un bouchon classique) : quelle déception!

We eat out regularly in Chiswick and Charlotte's Bistro is one of our favourites.

We had a early evening meal here on a Friday, following a visit to SipsSmith distillery,10 mins walk away. All the food was well presented & delicious. The service was attentive but not intrusive & we thought it good value for money. We also found the seating very comfortable. We would visit again if in the locality.

Starting with the positive: the bartender was courteous and professional and the wine list was well-considered with a good range of old favourites and new choices. The less positive: service during our dinner deteriorated emphatically from the functional to the truly unpleasant (our daughter was feeling unwell and so we asked for her risotto to be boxed to take home; we were told "No! We do not do takeaway here!"). The food was mixed but there were some pretty clear low points. A starter of brandade was watery with a paucity of salt cod; the accompanying sous-vide egg was the consistency of mucus (note for Chef: the clue's in the name. It's an egg white not an egg translucent). Our lamb and beef managed to be both under- and over-cooked. It was dry and oddly flavourless with an abundance of connective tissue and unrendered fat. One to avoid in the future.

We were passing and it looks a nice place so we popped in for quick drink and sat at the bar - just like say in any regular pub. The bar man poured us a glass of wine each and then when we asked for the bill we found they’d added a service charge !!!! For what?? What “service”? I mean I kind of understand when you have a restaurant meal and there’s waiters doing all the coming and going and checking everything is ok with food blah blah.... BUT I resent being mugged for a service charge when we simple bought a drink at the bar. I’ll stick to the pubs.

Wonderful food as always, great value and fanatic in every way.

The food was good but the braised beef portion was on the small side. The gnocchi with feta peas runner beans and tomatoes was delicious.

Really average meal. Charlotte’s feels like a chain on its way out I’m afraid. Food was tasteless and overpriced. We paid £20 for a plate of gnocchi. This is not the Manoir and Charlotte’s isn’t good enough to get away with that. Prices for individual courses also not on the menu.

Service was rather more abrupt than on my previous visits, which is a shame, as the staff are usually so friendly.

Went for a birthday and wasn't disappointed. would truly recommend this as the food was superb. Only issue is if I tell everyone how great a time I had, I may struggle to get a table.

An ok bistro with a lovely ambience let down slightly by its service. Food nice but not special. On arrival the staff were unable to find our opentable booking and we were offered a perch in the bar while they prepared a table. After some time we still hadn’t been taken to a table. When I promted the staff it was as if they’d forgotten as there were quite a few tables available. Service wasn’t particularly smiley. Value for money was pretty poor for the experience. Would recommend a booth in the bar before going somewhere else to eat.

Food was excellent and beautifully presented. It was a very quiet Tuesday Lunch so not to much atmosphere. Overall a lovely experience. Would recommend and visit again.

Great food, especially the Sunday roast and celariac soup. Nice wine, at a fairly reasonable price. The bread was a little salty, but that's a quibble. The service could have been more high-end; e.g. it would have been nice if someone had offered to take our coats, offered us some water or asked if we'd like any mustard with our roast dinners.

Always enjoy coming here as food is great (menu doesn’t change but nevertheless the food is good) The ambience was lacking, service was lacking energy, engagement, friendliness. It was my birthday and I noted this when booked but no acknowledgement or any care shown... even when friends brought gifts.. no interest. There were not many diners that the restaurant had to worry about so it’s a shame they don’t show customer friendliness .

Bar area was good, barmen knowledgeable and the drinks menu extensive. Restaurant was ok. Very uncomfortable sitting as the tables were too squeezed in, bit too long to wait on occasions, they forgot one of the desserts and overcharged on the bill. Then along comes a 12 1/2 service charge. Food was ok but plenty of other places in London to eat

Lovely food shame they forgot one main course, a glass of wine and a side order. If they had been more attentive they could have sold us another bottle of wine. Worst thing was when we paid we wanted to reduce the service charge (see above) but they argued, so lost all of it. Was very noisy.

We went for the three course lunch menu which is very good value. All the food is presented well and looks very attractive. I had the cod starter which I have had before. Unfortunately this time the food was not hot but more tepid. My wife had the goats cheese salad. She really enjoyed the goats cheese but the salad was quite hot and spicy. This was not indicated on the menu. We both had the sea bass in a butter sauce over crushed potatoes. This dish was served hot and was delicious. I would recommend this one. We both had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert served with ice cream. I enjoyed it very much but my wife said the pudding was essentially dry and over cooked. She was probably right as she is very good at desserts. When we arrived we were asked if we wanted a drink. We ordered gin and tonics. Ten minutes went by when our starters arrived and we had to ask again for our drinks which we would have preferred prior to our starters. Had we got them quickly we might well have had some wine with our food but this distracted us. I have been here a couple of times in the evening and have not been disappointed, however this time it did not come up to scratch which is unfortunate as I wanted to impress my wife with the quality of experience I have enjoyed in the past.

Bar offered a great range of drinks and were reasonably priced for London. Food was good and having a set priced menu ticked the boxes. On the downside - table was cramped, uncomfortably so, waitress forgot one of the puddings, they got our bill wrong - too many drinks charged for and then a 12 1/2% service charge whacked on. We enjoyed a fabulous 'gin-inspired' menu at the Bistro as part of a pre-booked Sipsmith Gin tasting evening. We were a big group but the service was professional and friendly and the food was perfect. A great night.

Treating two friends to lunch. All three of us enjoyed a most enjoyable meal - and both friends commented on how excellent the food was. Charlotte's Bistro is one of my local restaurants and I'm lucky to have it within walking distance of my house. The food and cooking is always of a very high standard, the menu interesting and very good value and the service friendly. Compliments to the chef and all the staff.

The food was accomplished, classic flavours but cooked well and with good ingredients. Decent portion sizes. Little niggle was the service, we had to ask for a wine list, then had to ask to order cocktails and ask them to come before our starters to enjoy. For dessert we also ordered digestives but these arrived well before the desserts and our coffee was forgotten about until prompted 15mins later. If they can improve the service then it would have made the evening even better.

Quite good. Particularly friendly bar staff greeting. Service was quick but a bit of a dour face on the staff member who took payment. Maybe a tough day. Pleased with the food - fish and sorbet choice. Would happily go again.

Fui un domingo por la tarde. Pedimos las salas de queso de cabra con higos que era excelente. Pero luego, para los platos principales, mi esposa pidió el ternera del domingo, y yo pedí el cordero. La comida salió fría. Lo enviamos de vuelta. O bien los lados estaban fríos o el centro del plato estaba frío cada vez que lo enviamos. Tienen problemas de temperatura. Y luego, el cordero era 3/4 endeudado - grasa y tendón. La carne era dura ... dos bloques de piedra. Difícil de cortar, masticar y descomponer. Poco impresionante Sin embargo, el camarero era el mejor de todo. . . . se disculpó profusamente y quitó 1/3 de la cuenta. Una buena compensación, pero sin embargo, la comida fue una decepción. Los asados del domingo de tus pubs británicos promedio serían más tiernos y satisfactorios que esto. No pidas el entrante de cordero tampoco.

Dined on an early dinner menu (3 courses plus drink) & was happy with it. Cured salmon starter was very well matched with salad in terms of flavours. Sea bass with mussels were nicely done too. Just one comment, if I had to be picky. Their pear bellini wasn't quite right - it felt more like cider with a bit of prosecco which I didn't expect.

Nothing special, nice but easily forgotten. Food is no better than you would get at a good pub. Does the job but no more. Charlotte's Place (currently closed) is far superior in every regard.

We arrived just after the early dinner offer had ended however they still let us have it which was a nice gesture. All of our mains however came out cold so we had to have them changed. Apart from that it was an ‘ok’ meal

Really good to have the daily specials added to the menu options. We chose the Rabbit dish, which was excellent. Pannacotta was a tad firm.

Parece un lugar agradable, un menú interesante con la mayoría de los platos que tienen un toque único y agradable. . . pero el menú de bebidas es lo más interesante, cosas usuales casi allí pero no del todo (cervezas, licores y vinos) que agregaron interés y conversación adicionales. El personal también era genial. Realmente me gustó y definitivamente volveré.

We were greeted on arrival and were expected as we had booked. The service was very good, friendly, professional but appropriate. The food was delicious and the menus choices good. Wine choices were good, though fairly expensive. The cheapest Chardonnay was £45. However we managed to find a nice wine at a better price. Overall the experience was very enjoyable and will be repeated.

Don't go here if friendly, efficient service is part of your dinner expectation! Slow and surly on a fairly quiet friday night.

We went for lunch but sadly there were only two other tables occupied and therefore no atmosphere. The food was very good and the lunch menu good value but the restaurant was very cold and I had to put my coat on !! I am sure it is much better and cosier in the evening when the restaurant is full but would also note that the tables are very close together. The staff were friendly and service efficient but felt rushed.

Lovely early week venue.. met with friend to chat and eat tasty, well presented food. Excellent service and attention. Will be back.

Not bad for a relaxed Saturday evening. Sticky toffee pudding was actually a chocolate pudding with toffee sauce. Worth a visit!

As always the food is wonderful at this friendly restaurant. Great value for money. Good selection of courses and great wine choices. Nice bread and butter to nibble whilst waiting for food. Can be a little noisy when the place is full. Attentive and knowledgeable staff.

Reunion with ex colleagues. We were well looked after. The atmosphere was convivial and the food enjoyed by one and all - most had not been to venue before. Price reasonable.

We had a lovely meal and the drinks were nice as always. The service was good and the atmosphere was perfect for a date. Giving four stars as my stomach was a little upset the next day, which isn't common for me, but I can't say for sure which item caused it.

We've been to Charlotte's (Chiswick) 3 times now and we've consistently had a poor experience. At this point we've given up which is a shame as we stay close by. As others have mentioned, you get prickly feedback when making reservations and despite trying to encourage families to eat there the fixed-price menu does not include children's portions. Overall for a local neighborhood place, it's too much hard work..

Found a hair in my starter (steak tartare), and my main wasn't very good (mushroom risotto). For 28 quid you're better off going literally anywhere else in Chiswick. Service was decent.

Oh dear. What’s happened to this neighbourhood gem? We haven’t visited in a while and it’s all gone wrong! They’ve had a complete change of front of house team which I suspect has a lot to do with it - service was shocking. Wrong drinks bought. Cutlery not replenished so we were left without utensils to eat our main courses. Wines average at best (both the Gruner Veltliner and Albariño were thin and highly acidic). Food was ok - and in fact main courses were good - but Charlotte’s has lost its charm and looks tired and lost. What a shame!

The restaurant was extremely noisy. There was a very large, very loud office party which made it impossible to chat across the table that we were sitting at.<br />It&#039;s not the first time I&#039;ve found this restaurant too noisy and I would not recommend it if you want a conversation with your guests.

I think they have changed the chef. I used to come here because Tom (Brad bartender) made the most amazing cocktails and had incredible mixology and alcohol knowledge but since he left it hasn’t been that same for me!<br />I came here with my friend (we come about once a month) and I think they have changed the chef as the food was no where near as good as it usually has been. The pate was quite a sloppy texture, the lamb was very fatty and didn’t have the the same flavour and richness I was expecting then the sticky toffee pudding was slight burnt and over cooked. Over all the food was bland compared to the usual Charlottes standards we have come to expect. <br />There was a large Christmas party going on in there and I had to shout to be heard by my friend which wasn’t great but usually it’s not like this.

Superb food, but honestly, it was no noisy. Too many hard surfaces. We had to almost shout at each. A few wall hangings or some acoustic absorbing materials would transform the experience.

Food was delicious when it eventually came. The service was very slow and it was not full. Waiter slow to offer drinks and take order and it then took over an hour for the starters to arrive and another long gap for the main course to arrive. Waiter very slow to offer drinks on arrival.

I attended on a Monday evening with a couple of friends. The food was exceptionally good, but was not our first choice options.<br />As the evening developed they ran out of beer, I switched to wine and went to re order a glass and was advised that was also finished. <br />A substitute was recommended, which I equally enjoyed.<br />Apparently a large party had attended the Bistro and consumed a lot of alcohol as well as our first choice dish of Lamb.<br /><br />The service was a little disjointed, but the staff are very friendly.<br /><br />I will happily go back!

We had an early reservation to go to a concert. We were shown to a table right at the back of the then still EMPTY restaurant. We chose to sit nearer the front. <br />We didn’t want 3 courses as in the deal of early diners as we needed to eat and go reasonably quickly, so they did agree to give us a 2 course deal for £1 less. <br />Food was tasty, although nothing exceptional. <br />Would I go again? Probably not.
