Went in this pub for the champions league final with my 3 friends, the gent running the bar kindly made up a table for us so we could sit and enjoy the game, very much appreciated, the service was brilliant, and will happily come back. Also, a beautiful pint of Guinness

We went on a Sunday and were surprised to find out they had no food. Not sure if it's only the case for Sundays or in general, but the maps said they serve British pub food, so it was a little disappointing - it should probably be updated if there's no kitchen and food on any day during the week. Otherwise it was a nice, cozy pub with nice interiors, very nice staff and a good selection of drinks.

Visited again after a long time away, and all I can say is what a great place! Such incredible hospitality and the landlord James was very attentive, creating a fantastic ambience with a great selection of tunes. This is one of those pubs you feel at home in, especially with stools by the bar allowing you to meet and chat with friendly regulars and the staff. Exactly what a pub should be and I look forward to becoming a regular too!

I have been several times since January. In an area blessed with a few decent pubs, this is probably the friendliest and best run. Don't expect designer styles but real people and excellent management abound here. It"s also realistically priced.

James, his wife and team did our family proud last Monday 6th February '23 when they looked after 80 of us following my beloved Mum's funeral. They pulled out all of the stops. Their truly wonderful hospitality; the food was delicious, drink choice was great, service was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble from accommodating our choice of music, to making it possible to run photos of my Mum on their TV monitor. They were there in the weeks leading up to the event to support our every request. They looked after us like their own family. My family and I cannot thank them enough and intend to visit this old family favourite of ours in the future, hopefully on happier occasions. Thank you again James and team for creating a wonderful memory for us all. Mum would have loved it. Best wishes, Max

Good pub overall. Friendly and convivial atmosphere. Great karaoke by Lisa the first Friday of the month. BUT One member of staff ought to be trained up on customer service or replaced. A member of staff sat down at my table, ininvited and without asking for permission. He then accidentally knocked my beer glass off the table, spilling beer all over my coat, which I will now have to dryclean at a cost exceeding that of the drink he spilled. When I asked for a new pint given the inconvenience caused, he said that there wasn't much beer left in my glass when he spilled it so the most he could offer was a half pint. I then saw the same guy walking around vaping while a child was present. Utterly undignified and undignifying.

Looks can be deceiving. A beautiful pub that sits on the corner with an amazing exterior and interior. The staff aren't happy with being reviewed "not authorised" was what I was told. Kinda stupid I thought. There were 2 people in the bar and the atmosphere was like a kindergarden with daycare daddy sitting at the bar. Not friendly or inviting. Shame.for them as I went and spent £125 in the Weir Pub down the road. Now I'd definitely recommend The Weir.

The Packhorse and Talbot Pub is a charming spot that perfectly blends traditional pub vibes with a welcoming atmosphere. It’s not just a great place for lunch; it’s also a fantastic spot for food and watching sports! The layout features a variety of seating options, including cosy booths and communal tables inside for those who enjoy a lively environment. If you prefer some fresh air, there’s also outdoor seating, which is perfect for enjoying your meal while soaking up the sun or catching a game on a nice day. When we arrived, we were greeted with a cosy setting, complete with wooden beams and rustic decor, which made it feel like a home away from home. As we settled in, we appreciated the variety of drink options available. The beer selection featured local brews, which were refreshing and complemented our meals nicely. My partner's wine was also of good quality, adding to our overall enjoyment. For lunch, the menu offered a tempting array of classic pub fare. The steak and chips were lovely; they were cooked exactly to my preference, and the chips were crispy and golden. The burger was equally as nice. Although the patty wasn't grilled, the beef burger itself was juicy and flavorful. The toppings were fresh, and the bun was just the right amount of soft and sturdy. One aspect that added to our experience was the attentive service. The staff were friendly and quick to assist, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. While ordering at the bar can be a minor inconvenience, it provided the opportunity to review the full menu and make our choices at our own pace. Overall, the Packhorse and Talbot Pub is a great choice for a casual lunch with family or friends, especially if you want to catch a game. The combination of quality food, friendly service, and a warm atmosphere makes it a place we'd happily return to. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty meal, a drink to unwind, or just want to enjoy the excitement of sports in a lively setting, this pub delivers a satisfying experience!

Lovely period building along the Thames river, we hit the pub after visiting the Kew Gardens. Nice choice of pub food, fish and chips were good, just remember we are talking pub, food not Michelin starred restaurant. Staff very nice and attentive. Dog friendly, no smell of dogs, the pub has its own peculiar smell, I wouldn't call it bad though. Apparently the high tide gets up to the windows sometimes, my mother is local and showed me videos.
