Completely the best porridge I have ever had (and I do eat it very frequently). I was so tempted to have another bowl.. but too full up! My other half had the avocado and pea with mushrooms on sourdough with a fried egg and was pretty much blown away by that too (and it takes a lot to impress him). Such reasonable prices (under £18 total for the two dishes!) and lots more on the menu to go back and try. Really lovely staff and dog-friendly dining. Fabulous.

Walked in on a Saturday evening on spec and plenty of room as everyone else was sat outside. Had the best steak and pepper pie ever - took 25 minutes as made fresh, and well worth the wait. Others had Shepherd's Pie and Lentil Shepherd's Pie and all were excellent. Very efficient server, too.

My son, who is a keen fish and chips eater, said it was the best he had locally for a long time. The owner ( I assumed) let us share a portion of FnC, because they are a very generous portion and my Mum would never have managed it on her own. Excellent batter and nice big, tasty piece of cod. Two of us has the Mexican flatbread. Very tasty and again, the portion made us feel we had very good value for money. Would definitely go back!

Around 18 of us had the Anchor booked for lunch and it was very very good. Welcoming friendly staff and an obviously excellent chef. Eighteen orders served at the same time, all hot and superbly cooked. If you are looking for a good lunch in Woodbridge then this is the place to go.

We dropped in for lunch on Easter Friday. Although the restaurant was busy, we managed to secure a table and we both ordered steak and kidney puddings, plus a pot of tea. My wife had chips with her meal, whilst I went with the classic mashed potatoes. The menu is really quite extensive, with a lot of the classic UK dishes you would expect to see, a specials board, plus gluten free and vegetarian options. There is also a really decent choice of sweet offerings, should you fancy it, plus a choice of homemade cakes on the counter. They serve decent coffee to boot! After very little wait, our meals were served, along with some extra gravy. We both agreed that the puddings were up there with some of the best we have eaten and a decent array of vegetables on the side. The quality was excellent and the quantity… well, we can honestly say we were stuffed! And this isn’t just limited to the cooked meals. We saw several sandwich dishes served and they were also on the generous side! The staff were really friendly and very quick to take our order and serve us. All in all, a really lovely experience and not expensive. Considering the restaurant is in the main street of Woodbridge, we paid a fraction over £30 for our food and teas.

Rude staff. More interested in talking to each other than serving customers. I was waiting at the bar to be served money in hand and the guy behind the bar looked at me several times, then another guy stood next to me came and stood next to me the barman came over and said usual to the guy next to me. It’s clear they only want you in the pub if you are a regular.

We had our first lunch here on the day we met nine years ago on the 25th March and we wanted to go back to celebrate. A board with Happy Anniversary was on our table which was a lovely touch. We are both vegetarians and the grilled halloumi wrap and Thai vegan burger were absolutely delicious. We can’t fault the impeccable service. The two ladies who served us were wonderful.
