Went mid Saturday evening, Ordered medium cod but they told us they had large cod already cooked to save waiting, so we accepted. The cod was overcooked, dry and full of bones. Overpriced. They had clearly precooked in anticipation of being busy.

The only fish and chip shop in the area that serves bones in the fish every time, I mean EVERY TIME!. Chips are usually tasty but I don’t order fish from here anymore. Scampi or sausage to be safe. Above average pricing but whoever fillets/supplies the fish needs re training.

Very nice food. Items cooked fresh to order. Very friendly staff. Can place orders over the phone. Didn’t have long to wait.

We had scampy, chicken burger, sausages and chips. Have had fish in the past as well. Loved the food each time I've been. Portion sizes are good as well. A medium chips is enough for 2 people.

Had two cod and chips unfortunately one of the cod has lots of bones in it, we phone the shop to let them know and was told next time go for a tail end as there is less chance of getting a bone, I except that you may get the odd bone if you are unlucky but not that many, so dangerous especially if it was a child. The chips were not to good either.

My daughter just went in to get a portion of chips . I could literally count the chips and they were sooo greasy. What a rip off . Potato’s are not expensive..even in this cost of living crises . Avoid!

Well what can I say chips was really greecy tasted nasty 🤢 portion was really small. This topped my don't go to list for worst chip shop I've ever been to. Very unimpressed ordered medium chips and sausage sausage was ok chips was terrible portion was criminal 😞

Pop in on way home was getting late 8pm cooked large cod with chips Great conversation with gorgeous blonde lady Fish was spot on . Good quality food excellent service thank you

Average fish n chips, a bit overpriced for what it is, but friendly staff. I won't be going back, mainly because I live 6 or 7 miles away, which is too long a round trip to be disappointed

I ordered fish and chips on Friday when I started eating them the fish tasted funny and the chip was nearly cold I had to throw them into the bin insisted my money

The fish and chips are well worth the visit, well cooked and you can indicate which part of the fish you would like fried, tail end etc.

A near perfect fish and chip meal cooked in a traditional way with plenty of flavour. Only downsides are the price and the filleting of the fish could be better as either me or my wife will always get bones in the cod, always the game to see whos’ turn it is. Great but could be perfect with a bit more effort and a 10% reduction in price.

Its true, it is, beautifully cooked every time ive been in, never had a bad bag'o chips from here, the fish is always fresh light and fluffy. Lully.

So disappointing... fish was terrible it was a grey mush with a soggy batter and dont get me started on the chips! So expensive too will never ever go back

Popped in as not been there for a while. Had cod and chips. The chips were really good as was the actual fish itself. My criticism is only that the batter was really undercooked, soggy and pale .. not crispy at all. It’s my favourite part so rated a 3

Called in by chance en route back to Southwold. Being a vegetarian there was little on offer other than the obvious. However, that said chips were nice, a little on the pricey side, but one portion was more than adequate for the two of us. Bit of a wait as they were cooked fresh, but would certainly return if in the area.

WE occasionally have fish and chips from Melton Fish Bar and the other evening we both ordered a medium cod. It was absolutely excellent. AS white as white as can be and perfectly cooked. Crisp batter and it was still hot when we got home, as it is cooked especially for each customer. I can highly recommend this Fish Bar.

I called in and purchased fish and chips they were excellent they made my evening it meant i could eat at my holiday cottage which was 50 yards away

You'd expect a fish and chip shop to get the basics right but this one in Melton fails on most counts.

ridiculously small portions of chips for the price, however the person seemed to get a lot more for virtually the same order?? Chips were also very soggy.
