We are new to the area and recently discovered the Angel. They offer a very good selection of ales and lager beers from draught, but their specialty must be their gin & tonics. The lady who served us was very enthusiastic about the selection of gins and tonics, and made some excellent recommendations based on our taste. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the week after. We were welcomed back and the staff remembered what drinks we had during our previous visit. That is a level of service that I do not experience often. Recommended!

What a great old English pub, It looks like this used to be a Pubmaster pub, but is now a free house, which explains the number and variety of real ales for sale. I only went in the daytime and there was a real fire burning . It looks like this pub at night has music on, which must be a cosy environment for the locals. When I visit Woodbridge again I must return here.

The Bull is ideally placed in Woodbridge. It is very old and has wonky floors, which adds to it charm. The room is clean, well equipped, nice toiletries. You do need to book parking as they do not have enough for the rooms, and it is a shame that there is a charge for this. The staff in general were very welcoming. Unfortunately, I felt that we put them out at breakfast, and were not made to feel veey welcome. On the first day, we were not offered toast and were told we could not have poached eggs with our full English, despite poached eggs being cooked for Eggs Royal, more coffee was put on reluctantly as we asked for a second cup of coffee. On the second day, we waited 55 minutes for breakfast, the restaurant was not full. The food was good, although the toast did let them down as it was just normal sliced bread, we also had to ask for jams. I would have liked to give them a good, rather than very good. I should also mention that there was a lovely member of staff who helped me carry my suitcase down the wonky stairs.

One night stay in first floor room with walk in shower. Small double which was spotless. Great shower. Inn is beamed and full of character. Uneven floors and twisting stairs. Everywhere is spotless and extremely well kept. All the staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful. Made to feel very much at home. Greta our waitress for dinner was an excellent waitress. Real pleasure to be served by her. Great location in town square. Great independent shops as well as usual chains. Lovely for evening strolls and loads of pubs to choose from. Reserved parking at £10 per night ..... worth it as parking not easy in Woodbridge. Space was reserved and named for our arrival. Excellent service throughout our stay. Tasty breakfast included. It was our wedding Anniversary so we decided to go to the Bull Inn, as we’ve always had a good meal. This is the first time we’d tried the new menu. We had three courses and really enjoyed each. Couldn’t fault anything and could hardly walk after, but we’ll worth the struggle to finish 😃. Thanks to the Team at the Bull for another great meal and evening. This is the second time we have been here for dinner in the last 2 months, really surprised by how nice the food is, both times we have had a three course meal, all courses were very good, the desserts are a bit hit and miss as to how big they are, so for example the crumble is huge enough for 2! where as a more fancy sounding dessert is three small things on a very large plate, but delicious none the less. Service is good, wine list good and beer plenty full for choice. Definitely somewhere to go for real food and a good choice of menu.

We just had our first Christmas dinner of the season. We were a large group of about 27, but this did not affect the service or the meal. What great food. My wife and I both had the Turkey dinner followed by Christmas pudding and custard. The food was cooked perfectly. Turkey was tender and moist and all veg was spot on. The plate was very full. Pudding and custard were really nice. Those that had the veggi option were also very satisfied. Staff, as always, were great. Hopefully we will get a chance to go back as a couple, for another one, before the big day.

We stayed one night at The Bull Inn and had a very pleasant stay. The room was decent, albeit a tad on the basic side, but the bed was comfortable enough. The pub is very nice and the breakfast in the morning is very good. One minor issue we had is the heating starting banging in the middle of the night, but the staff seemed to deal with it effectively and apologised for any disturbance the following morning. There's a small car park at the rear, but it's advisable to reserve a spot in advance. However, It's quite a small car park and can be tricky to manouvre, so alternative parking off site might be better for drivers who struggle with parking. The staff were very attentive to our needs and super friendly, and so I would definitely recommend The Bull Inn as a great place to stay in the heart of Woodbridge. We recently stayed at The Bull Inn whilst visiting the area. We stayed two nights and had dinner one evening, which was very good, no complaints. the breakfasts are wonderful, if a little bit slow in arriving. Staff in the restaurant all friendly and helpful. As regards the room, we were pleased with the location, food and the staff, but a bit disappointed in the family room. We had read all the reviews and looked at the pictures and were excited to stay in the historic inn. When we stayed previously it was in an excellent room in the main building. The family room is OK, but it is basically an annex behind the hotel with the door and windows opening onto the car park. It was not of the same quality with decor and size as the other rooms pictured on the website. We also got no internet at all in our room and no sitting area since the room was tight and only one chair per room. The bathroom however was very nice and the shower excellent. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and the food very good for both breakfasts and dinner. The room was OK, but probably a bit over-priced when compared to the other rooms

The menu said Tempura battered fish with coleslaw and fries with skins on.! What arrived was four small pieces of fish in a puffed up overload of batter, with half a plate ( I mean half a plate ) of chips, very ordinary chips. I assumed I was getting fish and chips in Tempura batter. No mention of goujons which is how I would describe them. Had I have been alone I would have complained. The waitresses were charming. Ambiance - Zero. Very dated environment. Needs a lift.

Lots of local beers and craft ales plus hundreds of gins which they mix with pride using fresh ingredients such as pomegranate seeds. Very difficult to rate, walked all around the building no open doors until we arrived at the side gate where we walked in yet nobody to be seen in the outdoor area with some benches in front of some old stable doors and a marquee erected behind. In front a sign with directions to the toilets with a hot potatoe wagon behind and a pizza bar hem packed with anything but pizza that looked as it had not been used in decades. I followed the sign for the toilet and entered the public house the looked like in had been abandoned mid gig like the Mary Salest. As we were walking out to leave a young man entered the side gate asking if he could help us. Normality returned we sat outside on one of the benches while he opened up! Then he came out to serve, polite, efficient with could choice of avail drinks. The perfect host. As for the rest not quite sure what was going on.

I've gone out of my way just to come here- brilliant customer service and great food. Such a quality delicious food I cannot fault it. Took my friend with me one time and have spread the word since word of mouth is best advertiment. It's little things like gentleman holding the door open or helping with highchair when he saw me scanning the room looking for one, the ladies spent time talking to me about the surrounding since I'm new to the area. This is the true standard of what it should be like- this small business is perfect example and I'm so happy to go back and make a regular visit. They notice you and your needs, happy to help and ALL are super friendly. I'm all about supporting small business.. over the years few has lost me over rudeness because either they couldn't handle how busy they were and lack of staff or they forgot to remain humbled. I never went back to those. This one is shining example and please keep up!! Xx

If you want smashed avocado on sourdough with pea shoots and other unnecessary greenery then this cafe is not for you. But if you want the best quality full English, fresh unfussy honestly presented British and local food then you’re in the right place. Always a warm welcome, seriously tasty local food, simply cooked and unpretentiously presented. Today’s special were some seriously big juicy scallops which I had with my full English and they were an inspired combination and very popular. Thanks Sean for another outstanding breakfast. Keeping consistent standards like this is a real labour of love but it shines through in the food. Lovely breakfast and not an avocado in sight. PS a ‘greasy spoon’ this is not!

We decided to pop in for a drink ,my partner went to the bar and I went to the toilet ,10 mins later my partner still at the bar not been acknowledged woman sat behind the bar not looking at him and what looked like the manager talking to some people ,fair enough if you can't serve say so or if your talking just say you will be a minute. They were so rude and ignorant maybe if we had been stuck up people he may have looked at us ,but we are just normal. One to avoid

Had a very good lamb dish on the back patio. I see this place as Saxmundham’s biggest attraction.
