Was lovely surroundings, staff very friendly, amazing cream tea, was advised will do gluten free cream tea if ordered in advance.

Great atmosphere and really friendly staff. The food was wonderful and we really enjoyed our visit here. I’m sure we’ll be back soon.

This a a lovely village pub. Great atmosphere very friendly staff. Plenty of real ales as well.

My partner and I LOVE a steak. We were looking forward to trying somewhere that is “known” for steak- a steakhouse. We love the idea of locally sourced meat. Unfortunately, we are a little disappointed. £7 for 3 Brie bites put on a white plate (no presentation) and £6 for honey and mustard sausages, which had hardly any honey or mustard on. Then we ordered the tomahawk and was very disappointed. It came out rare as we asked, but again lacking presentation. The steak should have come “prepared” so it can be eaten and shared. It was so hard to cut with the steak knives they provided- that in conjunction with a very rickerty table left us with a bit of a work out. The steak was poorly seasoned so we had to add salt ourselves. The steak was nice. That’s as far as I would go, I’ve had much better and for a better price. Sad to have left feeling disappointed.

Miserable, cold (even the barmaid wore her anorak behind the bar) dark, dingy and drab. No atmosphere. Full of really loud locals.

I don’t like writing average reviews but when I didn’t enjoy a meal, and had given the establishment opportunity to put it right, and they failed, then it needs to be said in the hope feedback helps improve things for other customers. Choosing roast beef on a Sunday should be ok most pubs-even busy ones. My meal arrived -a disappointingly grey slice of overcooked beef on top of a pile of veg and a Yorkshire. Ah well-shame they don’t serve beef rare I thought. Had a few mouthfuls but realised that the hot (packet) gravy covered veg that was tepid at best, cold Yorkshire and the centre of the roast potatoes stone cold.On check back from the very nice waiting staff I explained the problem quietly and asked for it to be rectified. My dinner was returned to me microwaved with yet more hot packet gravy. Hot yes, but by now the beef was like shoe leather and veg mushy. Desert cheesecake was over sweet and completely flavourless . Many people rave about this pub but a good portion size doesn’t make up for poor quality execution. Won’t be back in a hurry.

New landlords only open a week. seem friendly and I shall visit again. Although I do miss the wholesome lady who used to run the pub.

Visited to celebrate my mum's 70th birthday with a nice meal and a few drinks. The food is delicious! The set menu is great value, and they're not skimpy on the portion sizes. The staff are attentive and incredibly friendly. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for good food with a brilliant atmosphere. Recommend!
