The Crown Inn in Huntingdonshire

Disinterested staff, poor service, substandard food and portion size, overpriced for what you get. The staff don’t talk to you because they are all about 15 yr old and don’t know anything about customer service. Had to wait 15 minutes to pay the bill but some guy skipped ahead of us in the queue. It took forever for the young man to input all the orders into the billl creating system. The sticky chocolate pudding was dry chocolate cake with sauce. Ran out of many things, even the information on the specials board was not correct. A bit of humility and getting some camaraderie with diners goes a long way. And the guy with the waist coat was as dull as dishwater. Barman needs to learn to wash the glasses

From the friendly greeting to the last spoonful of blackcurrant and elderflower meringue mess, this was a lovely lunch experience. It is particularly pleasing to see dietary restricted customers offered the same high standard of menu choices as more 'normal' folk. Seriously good quality food cooked with skill and presented with style. Well done. We'll be back.

I love this place. Been several times over the years, but not for about 12 months. It’s still smashing. The food is wonderful and they keep a nice pint. My wife had the “market fish” tonight and said it was easily as good as a similar dish she’d had in London at The Landau a while back. That’s a Michel Roux Jnr place. Praise indeed. The menu is sensible, straightforward, and will suit all tastes and requirements. The young waiting staff are brilliant. Polite, cheerful, personable and helpful. The owner treats everyone like they’re old friends. It’s a lovely, cosy little place and every time I’ve been in it’s been packed. It’s the best place for miles round here.

9 people of the family, age 64 down to 2. Got us on a lovely table, loads of space. No rushing us, but we had to wait for nothing! Staff always available when you needed everything. Food was perfect, portions just right, no one went hungry! Deserts were a delight! Decently priced. Will really go again, just the wife and myself next time. A delight to write a review for a faultless venue! Thanks for a great time!

This is a great place for a relaxed, high quality meal. The staff are lovely and were able to accommodate us ( even though I had booked for fewer people than we needed) they were great with our nervous dog and the good was top draw. Highly recommended.

Saw this place coming up as highly rated so we drove from Cambridge for a Sunday lunch/roast. In the end it was fairly average. Beef was quite fatty and the chicken was dry.

I found this pub on trip advisor and decided to book a table following the great reviews. It did not disappoint. The staff were all welcoming, allowing dogs in the bar area too. The menu had a fantastic selection, including very tasty vegetarian and vegan meals. Overall a smashing place for lunch or dinner. We will definitley come again. Thank you all for a wonderful lunch.

We often have said we must try there and wished we had sooner! The atmosphere, staff and food all went hand in hand - was perfect! The menu had plenty of choices, and all the food that we recieved was 10/10! Can't wait to book again and bring friends with us!

Lovely, lovely restaurant, with a fantastic cosy atmosphere. Stunningly beautiful old country pub, in a beautiful village. The food is always amazing here, the staff are very friendly and can’t do enough for you…their attention to detail makes any visit here even better. You can tell the food is freshly cooked by a trained chef, and the prices are very reasonable for the standard of food, atmosphere and setting. Highly recommend

Lovely lunch as always. Food and service always perfect. We have been maybe 8 times on our own or with friends and everyone always loves the food and the place. Would definitely recommend to everyone and they cater for more or less all dietary requirements. If you haven’t tried this place you are definitely missing out

Un pub gastronomique comme on les aime ! J'avais prévenu lors de la réservation qu'il s'agissait d'un repas pour un anniversaire et la table était jolimmment décorée. Le serveur a discrètement souhaité un bel anniversaire à ma compagne, fort flatée de l'attention. Notre repas fut excellent (pork belly, hunter chicken) avec de belles mises en bouche (nibbles). Service excellent et prix mesurés. Nous recommandons sans réserve ce country pub, un des meilleurs à notre connaissance !

Food not quite up to its usual high standards.

Nice food but took ages to get served & between each course, felt like we were invisible to the staff. Also lots of flies in the restaurant.

Visited on a Tuesday evening for dinner and didn’t disappoint. Mark the owner is one of the nicest guys we’ve ever met, went above and beyond for his customers, very attentive always making sure we had drinks and just genuinely a really nice guy. His service alone would make you want to go back and visit. We had starters, main and dessert and all were so yummy! The mango chutney onion bhajis were super yummy as was the treacle sponge for desert. We will definitely be back! Thanks so much for being so accommodating Mark! Your pub is a delight :)

Great village where everyone is really friendly and likewise in the pub/restaurant. It’s a lovely place with inside and outside spaces and, when we were there an open air cinema being created for that night I was upset I needed to head home!

This is the first review I have ever given and it is well deserved. The service was excellent and consistent from three staff members together with a superb meal, a combination that it very rare. looking forward to my next visit.

It was "steak night" when we were there. Nice steak options to choose from but also other dishes from the regular pub menu. Staff was attentive. Wine was of good quality. The Crown Inn is a beautiful old building in a small and nice village. Recommended if you are in the area. The only downside we found were the poor acoustics in the room we were in. A nearby family with kids msde it almost impossible to keep a conversation going at our table.

A really good place for a Sunday Lunch ! Great for big or small groups - it can be a bit noisy if a big group is in ! Lovely garden and plenty of parking. Food is really good and served promptly.

Always loved this place, the food, service and price have always been brilliant, but last week for lunch was disappointing the new menu was disappointing the portions small and price was very expensive. Very disappointed.

Looks nice, however we popped over on Tuesday after spring bank holiday. Some kid said we’re closed as we had a beer festival the last three days and I meant to put up a sign blah blah and just walks away. Won’t be bothered to come back to this place.

Lovely lunchtime meal at The Crown in Broughton yesterday to celebrate my daughter’s last day at The Ivo!! Couldn’t fault the service either. Nothing was too much trouble and even tho we arrived with minutes to spare (kitchen closes at 2pm) they squeezed us in 💙

The best Gastro Pub we have been too, and we go to many, food to die for, especially the home made Piccalilli, food was cooked to perfection, all cooked to order. Service was excellent, I don't usually leave a tip but this time I did due to the service and being looked after, well done Jake. This place is out in the Countryside and even has a good gravel carpark. We will be back. Mark (the owner) thank you so much.

A beautiful country pub with its own car park. Recommended xxx Jake, manager allowed me to still sit in dining area, 5 mins before kitchen due to close, big thank you for that. I ordered my starter and main quickly so kitchens could clean down end of their shift. Chose a dessert that did not need cooking. And to finish I had a Floater coffee, people of the 1980's will know, basically coffee at bottom, with cream floating on top. Option for non drivers. Option for alcohol addition if other means of transport home. Food positives and slight critisms (very small), as the team were kind enough to serve me. The Pea and Mint Aranchini (rice) balls had a drizzle of honey mustard dressing, which overpowered any taste of mint that may or may not have been there. A sugestion, you could consider serving with a small amount of crushed peas (same as with your fish and chips?). That could add extra minty element without deflecting from what the dish is hoping to achieve in its title or dish theme?? Maybe chopped fresh mint, or dots of minted olive oil if lubrication necessary??. These little balls were moist enough, and suited what they were meant to do. Fish and chips, tempura type batter, bit difficult to eat as so crispy, fish was soft and well cooked. Crushed peas, a little dry, probably where prepared at time of my starter so kitchen could clear down. Still edible, better if not so dry/hard in areas. Entirely forgiven though, when you taste the chips !! Amazing, good size portion, served in parchment little half parcel. They were totally gorgeous. Missed being asked if any sauces were required as vinegar and mayonaise would have complimented. Dessert I opted for the chocolate mousse, chocolate soil, roasted pistascio nuts and I requested vanilla icecream instead of the proposed salted caramel accompanyment. Warning chocolate mousse very bitter ! Soil was great. Nuts didnt really add much. Icecream not too bad. Price at £7.25 was a bit on expensive side for size of dessert, but very rich, decadent dessert, so forgiven. Improvement suggestion: Maybe fresh strawberries or rasberries would enhance this and relieve the palate, icing sugar sprinkle on the dark plate as additional decoration also could artistically enhance. Floater coffee completed my meal very well. Price overall with one bottle of soft drink around £35.00. Will be going back. Beautiful pub. Thank you Jake and Harvey for your hospitality. Hope to visit again soon.

A quality gastro-pub in a quaint and attractive village. For my visit, I had booked slightly beforehand but didn't see the response until I got there. They were fully booked and yet they were happy to accommodate me for a shorter meal, or allow me to eat my meal at the bar which I did. The staff were accomodating and very professional. The food was excellent and fairly gourmet, but with prices still fair. A nice quality and warm atmosphere. Worth going back (and booking in advance!)

We were absolutely blown away with our whole experience at The Crown Inn. We booked a table for two including 1 vegan and were greeted with two separate menus upon arrival without even having to ask, and at every opportunity the menus were presented this was the same and it was noted who was who. The friendly service from the staff was impeccable and nothing was ever too much trouble. As for the food, I can say with ease that the vegan arancini was the best vegan dish I have ever eaten, the sticky fig pudding was closely followed. Everything was beautifully presented, and the portions were plentiful. Will be booking another trip up just to visit this beautiful gem of a restaurant again.

Very friendly service with great food

Great food, we were a group of 12 and had a lovely evening. Staff were great and all our orders came out quickly and everyone enjoyed their meals.

Myself an my partner attended tonight. She made them aware she was vegan when booking, a few weeks ago, upon arrival and without prompt we were presented with a standard menu and vegan menu for her. Just a brilliant touch that VERY rarely happens. We had 3 courses each, I had 3 beers and she a soft drink with a total bill for all under £100. The vegan food was some of the best she has ever eaten and for myself, the food was the best I’ve had at this price range. We were easily expecting a bill of £50-£100 more! A lot of young waiting staff, but they were all exemplary, overall a 10/10 experience and we will definitely be back when we return this way.

A fantastic place. The staff and manager were very friendly, informative and a great atmosphere all round. The food was lovely. A great selection of food for those with dietary requirements. It was noted on our booking that we had dietary requirements. On arrival the manager without needing to be asked, took us through the menus designed for those with dietary needs and ensured that from the kitchen to the table that the food made its destination without cross contamination. For the quality of food and service the prices are very reasonable. Thank you The Crown Inn!

Had the best gluten free meal out I have ever had, outstanding!

Although still being refurbished The Crown is very welcoming. Opted for the blade of beef but unfortunately very grisly and not nearly as melt in the mouth as expected. Received a discount and apologies from Sherry who provided excellent service. Will go again if chef sorted his life out

We've been twice in the last couple of weeks. Food is delicious and service is fantastic. Both occasions we were made to feel welcome by the owner and staff despite them being very busy! We will definitely be back and kicking ourselves for taking so long to visit!

Unfortunately one of the meals was undercooked badly. Chef was very apologetic. Dessert came with cream despite asking for it not to. No offer of money off bill for mistakes made. A shame given the food is usually to a very high standard.

Another great lunch at the Crown. Meals in the photos are gluten free herb gnocchi & cauliflower saag aloo. Service was quick and friendly as always. Good selection of local beers on offer. Full gluten free separate menus. Several vegetarian options available too. Compacted gravel carpark with a disabled space & ample beer garden with seating. Baby changing facilities available. Group bookings accommodated. Recommend pre-booking for Sunday lunch as it's always popular! Free Wifi available.
