Another perfect Sunday lunch enjoyed with friends. The staff were very attentive and the food delicious, no complaints from anyone in our group of six. Being intolerant to several ingredients I had no problem with choosing a meal from the special gluten free menu that’s always available. The menu had a good range of ‘free from’ meals and the manager was able to give me additional information on the meal ensuring that there wasn’t anything that would cause me problems. We travel from Norfolk to meet friends from Buckinghamshire for Sunday lunches several times a year for at least eight years and are greeted by the staff as long lost friends. We will be back in the new year.

My son and I had a most enjoyable Sunday lunch here. The wait staff were so pleasant. The food was cooked to perfection. The room was homely. Wonderful.

Returned to this restaurant having previously eaten here and enjoyed a fantastic meal. Sadly, we were hugely disappointed with the standard of food/cooking tonight. Absolutely no comparison to our previous visit. The staff are friendly and the place is lovely, no complaints there. The food is well off the mark however. The pie I had was meant to be suet, but it wasn't...basically a short crust pie, which was very dry and poorly seasoned. The root vegetable accompaniment was so incinerated and old that it was inedible, not fresh at all. The final insult was the side order of 'proper' chips; I took this to mean triple cooked chips, hand cut and cooked in house (as we'd had on our previous visit), sadly, what we got was a sorry looking bowl of chips, some burnt to a crisp, some soggy, all different colours. Definitely straight from a freezer bag and even worse...frozen and thawed chips cooked together which resulted in a horrible taste, appearance and texture. It's extremely disappointing because based on our previous visit we were really looking forward to it, but the standard has really slipped. Has the chef changed? Won't be returning!

Great venue and a wonderful evening meal. Two of our party had Vegan Diets and they also enjoyed their meals, this restaurant does cater well for varied diets. Staff were welcoming and attended all tables very competitively. No complaints from us and would welcome the opportunity to re-visit in the future.

Very quiet ,cosy ,well decorated pub ,food was delicious and plentiful,we had the pie,chips and veg,great service . Highly recommend.

Had a lovely Sunday roast for a double birthday celebration. 11 of us in the Annex. Food was excellent. Amazing gravy. The staff got the balance right of being there but not fussing. Would recommend a visit and I'll be going back.

Great local pub, the kind of place where not only is your dog welcome but they'll bring her scraps from the kitchen. My wife and I ate there twice, once for a weeknight dinner and again for Sunday roast, and both times the food was fabulous and the atmosphere was wonderful. I wish we lived in England and could be regulars.

We took my mum to the Crown for her birthday, and they made it a lovely evening. The food was delicious, and they have a great variety of drinks on tap. The service and staff were also excellent. We'll definitely be coming back!

Phoned on 8 September and made booking for our anniversary lunch, 12:30 on Monday 23rd September, had discussion with member of staff about food intolerances and very much looking forward to going. Turn up for our booking to discover that it doesn’t open on Mondays! How come the member of staff that took the booking didn’t know to tell us that and why did they take our booking? Very disappointed to say the least, drove half an hour to get there and then had to find somewhere else at the last minute for our special lunch

Lovely country pub serving high quality food with good service.

Came here for lunch with my father and my dog, emailed to book and we were early and the table was free and we had a lovely meal. Portions weren't massive - although saw the fish and chips being served to another table and it was massive!! Chose the restaurant due to location as needed to drop passport off at Passport office at Peterborough and this was just a short detour. Worth the detour and more. Would thoroughly recommend.

We had an excellent Sunday lunch at the Crown. We had called in earlier in the week for a drink and it was busy with diners so decided to book for Sunday and fortunately there was a table available. We were shown to our table and the drinks order was taken quickly. We both enjoyed our 3 courses, all of which were different. Both the crab salad and ham hock starters were excellent. Our mains were also excellent - the beef succulent and tender and the pork was very tasty. The veg was cooked perfectly and again very tasty. An excellent sticky toffee pudding and a delicious chocolate terrine completed our meal. The staff were very attentive without being overly so, and overall we had a very good experience. It’s not the cheapest, but is well worth it. Thank you to everyone at the Crown. We would certainly book again if we’re in the region.

Everything was perfect - just please change your knives! It’s a proper work out trying to cut roast potatoes with them - second time we’ve had this issue.

10/10 for our wedding anniversary meal. Service was very friendly. Meal was incredible & worth every penny. Will definitely be going back.

We had a light lunch, with a mixture of shared dishes from across the menu, culminating with a chocolate pudding. And I have to say everything was absolutely exquisite, and as always the service team were professional and attentive without smothering us

Great restaurant, great food, reasonably priced. Our server was a lady called poppy. Very pleasant, but professional also made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble for her.

Been here few times must say so far this is my favourite place to go to it's set in a nice location staff and manager make you feel at home plus on a Friday they do outdoor cinema which we went to last night was amazing if I could give this place 10 stars I would please try it for your self you won't be disappointed.♥️☺️

Our 2nd consecutive evening meal at the Crown in Broughton as our (32nd Wedding Anniversary) meal here last night was so good! Tonight we were drinking white wine - a very pleasant Pinot Grigio, with cucumber-infused tap water also given to us. Service was very friendly and non-intrusive. The starters and mains were, for us, perfectly sized. i.e. it was quality rather than quantity, but we still had no room for a dessert! There was a good selection of main meals including vegetarian (my wife is pescatarian) and, the quality was excellent. My sincere compliments to the chef and staff.

Always a fantastic meal at The Crown, thanks to Jake, Mark and the whole team who provide excellent and attentive service throughout. The specials never disappoint, with the market fish particularly delicious on the most recent visit! Great selection of low/non-alcoholic drinks behind the bar too, including gin and ale. Always a lovely atmosphere and ample parking is free on site.

Our mother’s 98th birthday lunch, excellent food and service enjoyed by all 10 of us they went all out for the special occasion that it was. Top quality.

Six of us crammed on a table at the very back of the pub. It was extremely hot but couldn’t open doors as flies came in. One fan which one table opted to have trained on them so no air circulating. Waitress lovely but untrained, didn’t ask how we wanted steak, didn’t know what the fish was, no water offered for the table, unwanted wine glasses not removed ( only one of us had wine) Burger was dry and overcooked, skin on fries cold. Haddock was okay. Meringue mess nice but very little meringue! We came out smelling of deep fried food! Pricey pub food with a pretentious menu for a country pub Shame as have eaten here before and it’s been great

Amazing food and first restaurant to understand my complex allergies/intolerance to the nightshade group of foods, made suggestions for substitutions and produce plates of really tasty food.

Exellent, recommended. We were four 'walk ins' accommodated politely near to the end of lunch, no fuss and good humour. We had three different meals served simultaneously with some sweets to follow all of the highest standard.

Just finishing a 9 week drive around the UK and happily recommend this pub as the best of all pubs we visited. Excellent staff with a welcoming and professional approach. Met the chef each visit and the food was very well presented, good quality and every care shown in its preparation. A delightful hospitality experience. Would move the whole show back to Tasmania if we could.

I heard the vegan food was amazing and it did not disappoint. There were so many vegan options I went for the antipasti board and we had a selection of sides the vegan feta salad, triple cooked chips and onion fritters and the flavours were out of this world. The service was amazing the staff super friendly and attentive I'll definitely be coming back.

The crown is a beautiful venue, the staff and service are wonderful. The food, chicken Kiev was rubbish, dry and flavourless and the accompanying veg was hard to identify and tasteless

Really friendly staff and good food!

Fantastic. Food was creative and executed perfectly, not a rubbery scallop in sight. They catered for my gluten intolerance with ease and I did not feel short changed by the options. The service was wonderful, we felt really welcomed and personally it is so nice to see someone so clearly passionate about their job. We will be coming back.

The team were amazing and worked with us to organise a wonderful menu for a group of 24. Even though the restaurant was very busy our food all came out together, was hot and most importantly delicious. The restaurant and bar staff were very friendly and helpful and ensured our group had a really enjoyable evening. Highly recommend this lovely venue.

Felt welcomed from the minute we entered, exceptional food and service, having worked in my early years for 5 star private hotel, I do have high standards. The owners and staff excelled on making us feel comfortable, looked after us and very tasty food. As I was celebrating my Birthday, they provided a complementary drink, sat in the beautifully gardens in this quiet, idilic setting. Best birthday lunch for many years. Thank you 🤩

Extremely impressive service and delightful venue set in the centre of a beautiful village. Prices are a little on the high side, in my opinion, but probably not overly so, given the location and the obvious abundance of wealthy clientel.

It’s rare that I would score every dish of the three I had as 5/5 but this was one such occasion.From the prawn arribiatta to the gnocchi to the banoffee pie all with a twist and loads of refinement this was a dinner to remember🥰

First time at the Crown, herd good reports about the food, the pub itself is very nice, beautiful decoration clean and bright, plenty parking space with a garden, beers very good, however the knife's are so bad we could not even cut through the Roasted potatoes (they were too dry not nice at all) very little vegetables "disappointing" on the plate, Lamb was not cooked to tender, under cooked, they forgot our Yorkshire puddings, one pudding was flat like a pancake not risen, but still they served it, desserts tasted good but felt the drinking glass that both desserts were served in, was disappointing not even a stylish dessert dish. Maybe they have lost he chefs who used to work there there, pity we were so looking forward to the Sunday lunch, in addition we have no problem in paying whatever the restaurant demands, but sorry to say, this Sunday lunch was far below standards. many other places have far better portions and quality.

Great place for food and the beer festivals are excellent

Great place in a small village, very friendly, good choice of ales, great food, they had a very good band on outside on Sunday 26 May 2024 and a good choice of real ales that you could pre-taste.

Back again to this fabulous restaurant last Thursday (16th) this time as a family. As ever, it was busy but as usual the service and food was spot on. The Guinness was off - that’s my only criticism, but an alternative was found which was frankly, even better. Who knew? I almost didn’t post this review as if too many people get wind of how good it is we will never get a table, but it’s so fabulous I had to. Simply the best for miles around. Love it.

This is the one of the few times I've ever given a 5 star review.  Mostly because there is normally something they can improve on.  This is a lovely pub, in a lovely situation.   The staff from emailing my booking, to welcoming us where great.  I'm vegan and they had a separate vegan menu.  The food was great.  Everything was spot on. Thank you,  I definitely recommend going here.  Its a bit pricey but worth it.

Having eaten there prior to my last visit which the food and atmosphere was delightful. Upon this trip I attended with a group of friends and sat outside in the garden. I did not know what a nice outside this establishment had. There was plenty of tables, a large grass area swings and even a cinema for certain evenings in the week. A lovely pub doing things well.

This is not our first visit so we knew we were at the right place for an excellent family lunch. Right from phone call from Mark confirming our booking to the friendly welcome by Mark and his team on our arrival we were made to feel special. That continued with an excellent menu choice, and a very good selection for those of us with dietary challenges. The puddings were, as ever, totally divine especially the Panna Cotta, the Chocolate Brownies and the Banoffee Pie, perhaps we should have tried the excellent lemon meringue ice cream, but we really didn’t have room for anything else! Wonderful leisurely meal. The whole team at the Crown definitely ensured that we had a lovely relaxed lunch experience with friends. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Amazing food, lovely cocktails, overpriced Guinness even in London I haven't paid £6.95 for a pint.

This is one of my favourite spots to meet friends for lunch. The atmosphere is always welcoming and friendly, Mark and the front of house team are attentive without being intrusive. The food is consistently excellent, with fabulous menu choices. Bravo Cherrie and fellow chefs!

Couldn't speak highly enough about my visit. It has been the only place that I have found where they cater to such a high standard for those with food intolerances (having a full dairy free menu) and the food be exceptional. Will be visiting again in a heartbeat!

Disinterested staff, poor service, substandard food and portion size, overpriced for what you get. The staff don’t talk to you because they are all about 15 yr old and don’t know anything about customer service. Had to wait 15 minutes to pay the bill but some guy skipped ahead of us in the queue. It took forever for the young man to input all the orders into the billl creating system. The sticky chocolate pudding was dry chocolate cake with sauce. Ran out of many things, even the information on the specials board was not correct. A bit of humility and getting some camaraderie with diners goes a long way. And the guy with the waist coat was as dull as dishwater. Barman needs to learn to wash the glasses

Absolutely lovely lunch experience. The friendly welcome and relaxed but very professional service complemented the outstanding food. 3 courses each and every single thing on the plates was delicious. The chef even responded to my compliment by coming out and sharing one of his recipes. We'd usually keep a place as good as this for special occasions but I can definitely see us just popping in again very soon. I also need to say how very impressive it is that you have menus for dietary restrictions that are every bit as good as the 'normal' menu.

From the friendly greeting to the last spoonful of blackcurrant and elderflower meringue mess, this was a lovely lunch experience. It is particularly pleasing to see dietary restricted customers offered the same high standard of menu choices as more 'normal' folk. Seriously good quality food cooked with skill and presented with style. Well done. We'll be back.

I really like coming here and the roast beef was perfect, they made a big fuss over all the mums on mother's day which I really appreciated. I wasn't that impressed with the roast potatoes which I thought were a bit dry and chewy and I've never had a pudding that I loved from here, they're okay but a bit meh IMO. But overall the meal was fantastic and we had a lovely time.

I love this place. Been several times over the years, but not for about 12 months. It’s still smashing. The food is wonderful and they keep a nice pint. My wife had the “market fish” tonight and said it was easily as good as a similar dish she’d had in London at The Landau a while back. That’s a Michel Roux Jnr place. Praise indeed. The menu is sensible, straightforward, and will suit all tastes and requirements. The young waiting staff are brilliant. Polite, cheerful, personable and helpful. The owner treats everyone like they’re old friends. It’s a lovely, cosy little place and every time I’ve been in it’s been packed. It’s the best place for miles round here.

What a lovely place this is. After a very warm welcome from the owner I was delighted to receive a fantastic choice on the Vegan menu. My husband chose from the special menu as it was ‘Sausage Night’ The food was absolutely delicious and the service was warm, friendly and swift. Both kitchen and front of house is absolutely spot on and for the quality of the food you get here the price is very reasonable.

9 people of the family, age 64 down to 2. Got us on a lovely table, loads of space. No rushing us, but we had to wait for nothing! Staff always available when you needed everything. Food was perfect, portions just right, no one went hungry! Deserts were a delight! Decently priced. Will really go again, just the wife and myself next time. This is a great place for a relaxed, high quality meal. The staff are lovely and were able to accommodate us ( even though I had booked for fewer people than we needed) they were great with our nervous dog and the good was top draw. Highly recommended.

Saw this place coming up as highly rated so we drove from Cambridge for a Sunday lunch/roast. In the end it was fairly average. Beef was quite fatty and the chicken was dry.

I found this pub on trip advisor and decided to book a table following the great reviews. It did not disappoint. The staff were all welcoming, allowing dogs in the bar area too. The menu had a fantastic selection, including very tasty vegetarian and vegan meals. Overall a smashing place for lunch or dinner. We will definitley come again. Thank you all for a wonderful lunch.

Un pub gastronomique comme on les aime ! J'avais prévenu lors de la réservation qu'il s'agissait d'un repas pour un anniversaire et la table était jolimmment décorée. Le serveur a discrètement souhaité un bel anniversaire à ma compagne, fort flatée de l'attention. Notre repas fut excellent (pork belly, hunter chicken) avec de belles mises en bouche (nibbles). Service excellent et prix mesurés. Nous recommandons sans réserve ce country pub, un des meilleurs à notre connaissance !

Nice food but took ages to get served & between each course, felt like we were invisible to the staff. Also lots of flies in the restaurant.

Visited on a Tuesday evening for dinner and didn’t disappoint. Mark the owner is one of the nicest guys we’ve ever met, went above and beyond for his customers, very attentive always making sure we had drinks and just genuinely a really nice guy. His service alone would make you want to go back and visit. We had starters, main and dessert and all were so yummy! The mango chutney onion bhajis were super yummy as was the treacle sponge for desert. We will definitely be back! Thanks so much for being so accommodating Mark! Your pub is a delight :)

Great village where everyone is really friendly and likewise in the pub/restaurant. It’s a lovely place with inside and outside spaces and, when we were there an open air cinema being created for that night I was upset I needed to head home!
