My partner and I LOVE a steak. We were looking forward to trying somewhere that is “known” for steak- a steakhouse. We love the idea of locally sourced meat. Unfortunately, we are a little disappointed. £7 for 3 Brie bites put on a white plate (no presentation) and £6 for honey and mustard sausages, which had hardly any honey or mustard on. Then we ordered the tomahawk and was very disappointed. It came out rare as we asked, but again lacking presentation. The steak should have come “prepared” so it can be eaten and shared. It was so hard to cut with the steak knives they provided- that in conjunction with a very rickerty table left us with a bit of a work out. The steak was poorly seasoned so we had to add salt ourselves. The steak was nice. That’s as far as I would go, I’ve had much better and for a better price. Sad to have left feeling disappointed.

Went to Johnson’s for my 34th birthday day out and boy that was a good choice! We had the tomahawk steak and honestly, that’s one of the best steaks I’ve ever tasted! Freshness guaranteed because they raise and butcher their own cattle. Farm to fork, I was told! The place is also very traditional English with a nice little zoo where animals seem to be healthy and happy. We even caught capybaras having sex but breeding and conservation is always a good thing! I noticed that their shop features a lot of their own produce and products, there’s also a lot of local goods from other towns. Finally, I want to say how good the staff are! I felt welcomed right at the beginning. Everyone at the steakhouse was so sweet when they found out it was my birthday. For more details, please check my vlog on YouTube - Dean Villarante. Hope to meet the owners next time (or the steakhouse chef) to personally tell them how I enjoyed my visit. I highly recommend and we’re already planning another visit! ❤️❤️❤️

Visited there for lunch today. The Steak House. Food good, portions ample. Staff were polite, friendly, and attentive. Unfortunately, one of us didn't get served their lunch, apparently due to the electronic ordering system not doing its job properly 🤦♀️ So had to wait for the 'Smoked Burger' to be cooked. But ok, when it arrived, served by the apologetic chef. Apologies all round from the staff, but no free tea/coffee or discount offered. Which would have been a nice apology. They offer afternoon tea. Which looked really good, so that is going on our afternoon tea list! After lunch, we visited the farm shop. What a revelation! The variety of products on offer were very extensive. As per all farm shops the goods cost a little more than your average supermarket. But knowing the fresh green grocery is local and the quality is great. The standard of the fresh meat choices was superb. 20+ choices of sausages! Plus, gluten-free, which were stored well away from any of the cereal based products. So, there is no cross-contamination. You can even buy locally baked breads and cakes! The cafè looked very busy, and the outside seating area looked good for warmer days. The zoo was not on our agenda. But maybe a visit to the zoo and cafè in the warmer months could be interesting.

This was a brilliant place. It was a sunny but cold day in January and nothing was open. We really wanted a day out and my mum suggested this to us on a whim, but what a great suggestion. We had a blast of a day. It's incredibly reasonable! £5 each and 3 and unders go free, so our son cost nothing. They have a good variety of animals granted some were not overly enthusiastic as it was bloody cold. But there was quite a bit to do, including the crocodiles, wow so many, then meerkats, lions etc, and we were so lucky to choose the day to go when they were giving free tractor rides to another part of the farm. There is an amazing farm shop there with everything from meat and cheese to general niknaks. The cafe does lovely food, average priced, but when it's so cheap to get in, you can hardly complain. Just very busy to get a seat indoors, but in the warmer weather there is plenty of outside seating also. Oh and cant remember the kids play area with slides, swings and other bits and bobs. All in all a good 5 hours day out for us as a family of 3 cost us only £30. Would 100% recommend and return!

Great place to visit with family. Very reasonably priced too. They have a variety of animals, some of which you can feed. There's also a nice woodland walk but remember to bring your wellies for this. The place is looked after well and all the staff are always friendly. We have been here numerous times and will happily come back again.

yes it’s cheap to enter, yes it’s a day out for you and the kids if you really can’t think of anything else to do, but I won’t visit again. The car park is impossible, you will be waiting 20 minutes for a space. The main reason I rate low and won’t be visiting again is due to the welfare concerns I have for the animals. There is little to no enrichment for the lions or bears, these are large animals with instincts and natural behaviours that require mental stimulation, but all they get is a small space and some logs, even the kids park is bigger than their environment. It looks like a prison for them. With the pacing I saw, the desperation to hide from being stressed by so many viewers, no educated and respected conservationist would agree with the lifestyle these animals have.

Drive through Pidley and you're there, but blink and you'll miss it! There were absolutely no signposts on our way up and thank goodness for the sat nav. We very nearly missed it as the entrance signage really isn't that noticeable and no way would you think there were lions and salt water crocs behind the farm shop! What a super little place,a pure fluke of a fine. Coming from Suffolk with Jimmy's Farm and Polar Bears on the doorstep we never imagined we'd find a Huntingdon version of the Farm Shop/ Zoo. Also the food in the cafe lived up to it's beginnings . It's a cheap £5 entry into a magic world like a TARDIS.Lions, bobcats, pumas, salt water crocs, stuff I've never seen outside of a huge zoo. What a great place and again room for kiddies. The alligator/ croc tropical house is huge and gives you a treetops view over the ponds. Already booked to revisit in July when it's a bit warmer.Just get in the car and go.

I cannot fault the excellent service from your butchers. Each year for the festive season I place an order for Salt Beef which is one of my favourite cold meats for Boxing Day and makes it my favourite meal of the year. The cut is brined and prepared ready to soak and cook. Most local butchers do not seem to know about this product and, unlike Johnson's, they are not interested in supplying it. Johnson's have never let me down. I am never disappointed with their products or service.Keep up the good work.I recommend this butcher to all.

Really nice place for kids and adults. We went on Sunday and got there about 10:30 am. Staff is very friendly and informative - we've been told a baby goat was born a day before and my 9 year old was literally jumping with excitement. A good sized box of deer/goat/ donkey/ rabbit food costs £2 only and it's really worth getting as kids really enjoy feeding animals.Terrarium is amazing and helped us to keep warm when we felt too cold🤣 We had lots of fun and spent there longer than intended 😀 It's rather quiet in the morning and gets super busy at around 12 -2pm so if you have SEND children plan accordingly. From the adult point of view: 1) layers of clothing and sturdy footwear in autumn and winter ( wellingtons and waterproofs highly recommended). 2) If you arrive early on chilly days be aware that some animals won't be getting out till it will get bit warmer ( I can't blame them 😀). So have patience and try to revisit enclosure where you didn't see an animal. 3) if you plan to have dinner in the Cafe check the menu beforehand as not everyone counts sandwich as food. No offense but that wasn't my cup of tea. Hot drinks are available of course and farm shop is amazing.4) if you bring your pet dog with you beware that lions most likely will try to hunt them - dogs don't find it funny at all and may get distressed. 5) playground is sturdy and suitable for multiple ages just in muddy days be ready for muddy clothes ( reference to the waterproof clothing).6) the deer enclosure isn't accessible from inside the park. Easier to get a glimpse from the car park end. However they're not interested in humans at all and keep deep inside. There's a young deer in the goat enclosure where kids can feed it the special food purchased at the entrance. We will be back definately - with wellington boots of course. I'm thinking spring time when most of animals have their little ones.

Not sure what’s happened to this place as we have been a good amount of times but today was the worst. Don’t get me wrong the food was ok, steak was cooked nicely but presentation of food could be better. My main complaint tonight was the service, don’t once during our visit did a member of staff come to our table without being beckoned. Had to ask to order a drink, 20 minutes later no drink had to chase it twice! Started arrived before my drink. Service is painfully slow and I know I’m not in for attentive service when I get stuck on a table in a corner. Sort it out guys because you can cook a steak for sure but the front of house have to have their heads up!

Sent back to kitchen … 10 mins later same steak back still blue and bloody… sent back to kitchen for a medium cook… steak arrived back 15 mins later all perfect. They then took away all potatoes and sauces/veg as they were cold… we waited 20 mins for them to return our side dishes, by which time we had no steak left to put the sauces on.. lovely place but the cooks can’t cook a steak in a steakhouse

Disappointing food. I took my family out for a treat on Saturday 12th October, and we were very disappointed. We ordered some food: the burger and chips were okay, but the salad that came with it was off and not fresh!!! You can see rotten leaves in the photo attached. The salad was left to one side. We ordered some slices of cake, and they were not nice cakes. The worst was the chocolate cake which was nothing like chocolate cake at all; it was very heavy and just tasted of sugar and dough. We paid £ 4.25 per slice. We came away feeling like it was a waste of money and vowed never to eat there again. Shame really as it was our first time to visit and we have high expectations.

I am a disabled person and my partner is my carer. I came along with a digital copy of my PIP disability letter, along with my disabled parking badge. Upon entering we were flat out refused a carers ticket by the lady who served us. She looked at the letter, looked me up and down and said 'no, no I wont give you a free carers pass.' She completely discriminated against me because I did not look visibly disabled, i.e. in a wheelchair. It is absolutely disgusting that I was so brazenly discriminated against, even though I came with the proof of my disability. I came with the 2 types of proof requested by every kind of zoo/theatre etc to enable a free carers ticket. But disregarding the carers ticket, the way she blatantly disregarded my disability and her discrimination and treatment of me was OUT OF ORDER! Who is she to say whether I am disabled or not, your staff need training in discrimination and disability and discrimination laws! We visited the zoo at £14 - 2 adults 2x £5, one child £4, alongside the circus at £25.50 - £8.50 per ticket - all with no carers ticket. We would have gone elsewhere if we had known. Alongside being discriminated against I was completely appalled by the treatment of the animals at your park! First off outside you had a pan half a metre by a metre holding around 10 baby ostrich, it started pouring it down very heavily, As everyone ran to the crocodile area they were left outside with no shelter whilst being pelted with extraordinarily heavy rain - enough that within 60 seconds we were drenched through 3 layers of clothes. The poor things were huddled together for protection against the raging storm. They are usually with their mother who protects them with her wings. THEY HAD ZERO SHELTER, huddled together shaking! I kept looking outside, over 35 minutes went by and they still were not helped by staff. As we left the crocodile area looking over I saw staff came out with an umbrella, too late as the storm had passed and the sun was shining! Secondly almost all outdoor animal enclosures the water bowls were completely empty, and had mould in them! Those poor animals, it is disgusting, on such a hot summers day too! Third the water in the crocodile/alligator area is disgusting. The mould/moss is out of control and hadn't been cleaned in a very long time - based on the green fungi on the water and the slick mould around the edge of the water on the rocks. Their water is supposed to be freshwater and flowing to avoid bad bacteria. On top of everything else the enclosures of animals are incredibly small. For example 5 rabbits had half the size of one of the large cats, floor space wise. Why on earth is that considered acceptable!? The spaces were not sufficient to the animals in each area. The park is bordering on ANIMAL CRUELTY, the care of the animals should be paramount. I emailed many email addresses on their website to discuss these concerns but each and every department ignored my contact.

My partner took my 1 year old son here just over a week ago. After a short time of being there, my son was bitten by one of the otters in the otter display. She was holding him up for him to see, and his hands were rested on the railing. The otters apparently use each other to jump off of to bite people! This was a known issue to not only the zoo, but also the nurse at the hospital that my son was taken to with puncture wounds in his hand. She said she has heard of at least 3 cases at this zoo of the same otters biting people. The worker at the zoo simply claimed 'yes they do that' and did not to my partner's knowledge record it in any incident book. There are no signs saying that they bite and can jump up, and obviously no attempt to lower the enclosure or put them out of reach of the zoos guests. If this is at least the 3rd incident, it is appalling that they keep letting it happen without putting anything in place. I have emailed the zoo and given them a week to respond but have not had anything back, so I'll be leaving this review and finding out how to report unsafe practices as this is unacceptable. If you value your child's safety, don't visit until they address these issues. Not only did they waste the entry fee, my partner has also had to pay for parking at the hospital, a lengthy wait and my son was on antibiotics for 5 days, with them suggesting that it's likely he could get infected.

Kids also really enjoyed the bears who were very active. We had lunch in the steakhouse and the food was all really great, better than some of the other branded steakhouses.

Great half day out, 2 large carparks, dog friendly, £5 each to get in, farm shop, tea room, outdoor bbq, outdoor play area & a great variety of animals. Great value for your money, for adults & children.

We are 20 mins away so we popped over this afternoon and had a lovely time. Shop is great as well as cafe but highlight was the zoo. Well done Johnsons. At £5 adults and £4 kids the zoo is great value for money. We hope you keep entry fee as it is as we will definitely revisit. I would reconsider your annual pass fee. £45 per annum is too much. We would have to revisit 9/10 times which isn't realistic for most but otherwise great 👍

Went late in the afternoon, crocodile house was rather smelly and warm so to be expected. Great to see some more children's play equipment, such pleasant staff in the zoo and shop.

This is the first time I have been back in years and they have expanded no end. It is £5 per adult to get in and £4 a child over 4yrs. The price is really great. There is lots to see and do. For £2 you can buy a box of food and feed the animals. This was a great experience. They ask for no picnics to keep their prices low and I totally agree with this. We brought an ice-cream while onsite and then went home for lunch. A great morning out and would highly recommend it. They have done an amazing job expanding the area for the animal and I was super excited to discover and see a racoon dog! It's an unusual experience and well worth a visit. We popped into the farm shop for some fresh produce before leaving. Their sausages are amazing!!!

Polite staff, amazingly clean , great range of animals to observe , lovely walks , food amazing ( good value as well ). The only complaint I can make.. your too cheap. Only a fiver for adults and £4 for children, amazing value. Our little girl loved it and so did we.

I've been coming here since it was just the small carpark. Has grown alot, which is great, but they have to sort that carpark out, the surface being a minimum as there are less craters on the moon. The Butchers is generally good, albeit expensive, with the Buffalo burgers being my favourite. I would spend more but other local butchers i find are less expensive & of the same standard.

A nice place to spend an afternoon. A small zoo, but enough variety to keep the kids happy.

Small zoo with a variety of animals. They allow dogs on the leads, which could be useful if properly advertised on their website and one can plan ahead, but they don't. Good woodland walk. Enclosures are well kept but in many cases they could/should be bigger with more stimuli for the animals. Farm shop has good variety of items. Food is on the expensive side but seemed good. Staff seemed overworked and unhappy/disinterested.

Lovely place for a family with smaller kids, with lots of space to run and play. The crocs are great it's what my teenagers wanted to see. Food in the restaurant was great. Fancied a steak for lunch so popped back over for a visit, have added some lions since the last time we went and a few other bits

Super cool place for families, although it isn't huge. We did the whole place in about 4 hours. If there were more play equipment, the children would have wanted to stay longer. Also, only food purchased there can be consumed on site. I have no problem with that, but just make sure you don't spend a fortune on a picnic and expect to eat it inside.

Owner or owners son is rude as hell, kicked us out for starting a 'new row' in the carpark. We went and spent our money elsewhere, and won't be returning.

I visited tonight for a portion of chips whilst passing through. My order was taken by one member of staff who then went out the back, and I never saw him again after his attempts to also sell me other items to have with the chips failed. I waited 5 minutes for another customer to be served, and then I was asked again what my order was by another member of staff, followed by being served what only could be described as a child's portion of chips for £3.25. I was still hungry after. The only positive thing about this experience was that the chips were hot. Suffice to say I will never be returning .

Sunday carvery, rung to book. Was told not taking bookings. Arrived to be told an hour wait which is expected. Group of 7 then had to be split up. Carvery was luke warm. Veg was like rubber. Stuffing was like mash potato. Poor food.

Prem Giri and Ivy. Made my first experience at this resturant a joy. The food is excellent the service and customer care. Is second to none. Well done please keep up the good work. Your staff are a credit to you. As a locaL business owner I know how finicky customers can be. You did a excellent job looking after my party. We will be back.
