Just stumbled apon this pub and it was pub and wasn’t disappointed! It was great to see a pub serving ‘proper pies’. Amazing food and service, I’ll be back soon! Thanks again everyone at the black bull.

A lovely traditional style pub with amazing food and great staff.

Had an amazing dinner last night at the Blackbull. food was incredible and very appealing the price was a little higher than I expected for a village but was still great food. The two girls behind the bar didn’t catch their names but the ginger girl and the older blonde girl were amazing their service was definitely a 10/10, we’re hoping to be back in a couple of weeks for my sisters birthday and trying the fish and chip night

Visited twice. Once for an evening birthday meal. While food was good there was an issue with a beer and the bar staff seemed to think it was funny. Although they apologised and replaced it we felt the reaction was not sincere or professional. Second time we had drinks on the patio and a girl took our order but after waiting 10 mins and no drinks I went in to order. The bar staff were quite rude and ignored the poor bloke behind me after I finally got our 2 drinks.

We'd been looking for somewhere near Huntingdon for a weekend breakfast on a whim, and we were very happy to have decided to try here! The ladies serving us were absolutely lovely and couldn't have been more helpful! And the food! I wish I'd done the social media thing and grabbed a photo for this because it was lovely! We each had a Full English, and they do NOT skimp on things! So many times you go somewhere and they give you the piddliest of portions, given the pricing, I almost queried whether or not I go someone else's breakfast! Really great value for money, and really well prepared and tasting foods! We've already talked about going back there and bringing some friends with us, but we're arguing with ourselves about it as we almost don't want to share the discovery of such a lovely spot 😁 Will definitely be going back to try some more of the menu and to enjoy that lovely beer garden out the back! I wish I'd asked your names ladies, but you were marvelous! Thank you so much for the wonderful time 🥳

Just had a wonderful Sunday lunch, food was amazing and staff so attentive, table in the huge beautiful garden and waitress service. Atmosphere is so good, fabulous place to sit, eat and chill. Dog friendly and very welcoming for families and children, will definitely return

Had an amazing lunch at the very busy Blackbull on Saturday,me and my family came in (with hope we could eat) and the staff met our needs they were very busy and run off their feet but still managed to find us a seat inside and looked after us amazingly hats off to the two girls behind the bar didn’t stop once but still managed to serve us amazingly very friendly. The food was incredible and the perfect size to fill you up the price met the expectations of the food. I’ll definitely be back and look forward to the summer

I don’t leave reviews very often. But, the Black Bull in Brampton deserves a mention. My wife and I celebrated Valentine’s Day there tonight. And, as usual, the meal and customer service were fantastic! We both had the braised lamb dinner (our favourite meal) which is also our choice for Sunday roast. If you are ever in the area and looking for a pub with a great atmosphere and good food, I would highly recommend a visit! And, please try the braised lamb dinner or Sunday roast. You won’t be disappointed.

Thank you so much for accommodating our family of four and our grandchild at short notice. The table that was made available was great and enabled our grandson to move around. The food is excellent (not all the food is this big, but the quality is consistently high) and the staff are really good. It's really worth a visit.

Laughable pub. You get to drink in the storeroom where so many tables are stored you can only get to the bar by scuttling sideways. Then you have to lean an arm over the bar and wait as the stroppy staff hang out in the mostly empty 'restaurant' with the taps. Draught bitter quality was good tho.

Our favorite local pub. Liked it so much, we went back three times. Consistently good. Great service and friendly local customers too. We visited in winter and dined inside. The outside area looks incredibly fun for summertime. Can’t wait to return for the Sunday roast!

A BIG, BIG Thank you to the member of staff (sadly, we didn't get his name) who went out of his way to help us find a local hotel which we had booked nearby. Our Sat Nav just wasn't up to the job and this young man went above and beyond to help us out. Again, a BIG thank you! (Coffee wasn't bad either)

Amazing pub, delicious food, friendly staff & atmosphere

We booked in here only a week in advance as we were let down by another place, and we're so glad they did. This place is absolutely wonderful. The food was amazing. The brampton pie was delicious and if we lived locally I'd be back here again in a heartbeat. It has a Nice atmosphere too. The kids food was also lovely and my daughter ate everything. I wish they'd sell those pies online!

Thanks for this Sunday. Mum came home talking of “lovely lovely grub!” Always great value for money and friendly staff that make you want to come back…..the only pub in Brampton worth a visit!

Ate there a couple days ago. Food was edible, nothing out of this world, atmosphere was OK, also, nothing eye-catching or particularly interesting Quite expensive. I was served by a lovely American redhead girl. So that is why I gave a five star review for service, she was absolutely wonderful.

The pub was chosen at random as a handy spot for friends who live far apart to meet for lunch. We couldn’t have selected better. All our meals were excellent and the staff were lovely.

Been to 2 parties here (one for drinks for a birthday and one for dinner today for a baby shower) and everyone always has the best time! The staff are super lovely and very organised. I had the roast chicken dinner today and it was delicious, those with beef and gamon on my table also gave similar feedback. The desserts were also divine! Also the servers were very attentive but timed dinner and dessert well. I'm not super local so don't go here often but I would defo recommend it!

Review for The Black Bull I recently visited The Black Bull and, unfortunately, my experience was not very good. Despite the restaurant being almost empty, we were told there was no room available, which seemed strange. We were directed to eat in the sports bar, which had no atmosphere at all and was quite uncomfortable. The food was just okay but overpriced for what it was, making the whole experience feel like poor value for money. On top of that, the staff didn’t seem welcoming or happy, which made the visit even less enjoyable. Overall, not a place I’d recommend.

The staff at the Black Bull bend backwards to always make sure their customers are looked after and feel special. Connor is so polite and professional, leading a great team even when under pressure. Food has always been great but it's definitely getting even better. I've reccomended this pub/restaurant to numerous friends and family who have also never been disappointed. Excellent food at The Black Bull. Have only eaten here once before and that was outside for lunch on a beautiful sunny day! I hadn’t realised how small the pub actually is inside. This said, we were instantly made to feel welcome and the atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely. Everyone chatting and having a bit of a laugh with the staff. We had a variety of things from the menu and all of them were delicious. The fillet steak was cooked to perfection, my basic ham, egg and chips was incredible and the pies were apparently amazing. We were the last to leave the restaurant but were not made to feel hurried and we will definitely return.

Great food, friendly atmosphere and a huge garden for the summer or cosy bar for the winter - dog friendly too!

Very good food, well worth a visit

Stopped here due to van breakdown, staff were really helpful and sorted us a table even though they were really busy so we could have a meal whilst we waited for recovery. Food was really good too!

Very good food and generous portions. We had Sunday lunch yesterday and everything tasted freshly home-cooked and delicious. The gammon especially was excellent. Friendly and welcoming staff too. Looking forward to our next trip back

Me and my friend popped in for a few drinks and some dinner the food was amazing couldn’t fault it at all. The staff was amazing and so friendly when we arrived. The only negative was the service we was served by a young brunette girl she was rather rude and spent most of her time on her phone while we was waiting to order. Overall I’d be more than happy to come back for the lovely food. Looking forward to the Christmas menu

My wife and I went to The Black Bull in Brampton to celebrate her birthday. The food was delicious, and the service was exemplary. The young man serving us said he wasn't happy with the quality of the sea bream and that he wouldn't be happy to serve it. I asked for the fish platter as a replacement option, and although this was slightly more expensive, I would only be charged the price of my original choice. Throughout the whole evening, the staff were friendly & attentive, but allowed us to enjoy our celebratory meal. We can't wait to go back again.

Discovered this traditional 16th century pub on our travels and what a find! A very appealing and intriguing building. Plenty of outdoor seating in the well kept grounds and once inside the character and charm of the pub could be seen. Instantly greeted and served with a warm welcome by the guy on bar. Food was fresh, tasted amazing and by the time we finished the pub was very busy. Clearly a popular place for lunch! We will definitely be back the next time we are passing through. 5 stars all round!!

Wonderful, friendly service helped us out and went beyond. We came for the amazing burgers and were very happily surprised to find out about their garden barbecue and barn bar. Sundays in the restaurant are reserved for roasts which we will definitely try at some point! Had a couple of burgers which were made from proper butcher grade beef and tasted fantastic, along with their loaded fries which we struggled to finish! Beautiful location, amazingly huge garden and a stunning building that makes those sunny days all that better. Oh, did I mention the bouncy castle in the garden? Don't worry if you're after a quiet garden visit, the land out back is so big, kids can laugh and bounce and you won't hear them from your table. The soft Jazz playing from next to the bar made the visit even more pleasant. Will be back.

I am 77 years old and I have had some of the best food I have ever eaten. The crispy chilli beef is the best I have ever eaten and the beef bogonyour was fabulous

Visited twice during a weeks holiday, both times delivered phenomenal food and service, the burgers are amazing, kids means great value but the stand out was the Sunday lunch today ! Beef was beyond fantastic and roast potatoes the best I’ve tasted in a long time. Drinks were also incredible value - highly recommend a visit 5 stars

We had a lovely evening sat outside dining. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was lovely and even a request for a cheese board which was not on the menu was not to much trouble for them. Will definitely be back great value

Went for Sunday lunch. Service was good but the roast potatoes & Yorkshire puddings were leathery & hard to cut. Attractive staff both male & female. Wasn’t impressed at a senior waitress berating a junior one unnecessarily in front of customers

Stopped off on our way to our holiday. What a find. Service was excellent, clean outdoor areas, food was hot and excellent quality. Dropped in here for a weekend breakfast as had been very impressed on a previous visit. Excellent food, service and coffee so decided to return the following day for a Sunday roast. Absolutely terrific lamb and chicken, and we both had an amazing apple crumble for dessert. All in all, couldn't fault this experience and the ultra friendly and professional staff. Five stars.

We made a booking on Wednesday for Sunday lunch, couldn't fit us in (table of 7) only at midday which was fine as we had children six and two year old. We were greeted by very pleasant staff, all very accomadating, nothing was too much trouble and very attentive. The atmosphere was very comfortable and friendly, this was our first visit, so didn't know what to expect. The food was lovely, cooked to perfection and very well presented We were celebrating four birthdays in the group, we bought our own birthday cake which they had no trouble with, providing us with plates & sharp knife. We did have 3 servings of mixed ice cream to go with the cake.. which went down very well. All in all a very enjoyable visit, we will certainly be eating here again. Thanks everyone. x

Love this place when the weather is warm. Grilled hamburgers hotdogs and beer. Owner is behind the grill and is as charming as the food is delicious.

Went to the Black Bull for breakfast, waited over an hour for the food to come out, when it did most of it was cold, the poached eggs were hard boiled and the toast never turned up, even after asking twice for it. I felt sorry for the waiting staff as they were having to take the flack for everything. This is the second time we have been for breakfast and the second time we have had to wait a long time for the food to arrive, thought it might be a one off. They blamed it on one of the chefs not turning up, as they did last time we went. They took the price of our coffees off but to be fair we should have just walked out and refused to pay. Won’t be going back which is a shame as it could be excellent.My advice would be if you can’t serve good quality HOT ! breakfast’s don’t bother. I’ve never written a review before but feel to strongly about it.

We were unable to eat here today because the kitchen was temporarily closed due to an electrical fault. However, the manager met us in the car park and very helpfully redirected to an alternative nearby pub (The Brampton Mill - see separate review). Thank you!

Called in Sunday lunchtime hoping for a table - Connor went out of his way to seat three hungry people inside, we are very grateful. Food was delicious, cauliflower soup was amazing and a meal in itself Definitely worth a visit but probably best to pre book unless you are happy to sit outside Thanks Connor and the rest of the team for a lovely late Sunday lunch

My wife and I visited this pub for the first time whilst on holiday in Wyton. Very friendly and polite barman that helped us choose food from the menu. I ordered the Brampton Pie and my wife had the sausage and mash, followed by apple and peach crumble and creme brulee. We both couldn't fault the food. Well presented and delicious. Would definitely recommend this place.

I’ve been here a few times and this was the best by far. They’ve updated the garden area, and there is something for everyone, including a bouncy castle for the kids. Had the roast dinner and I couldn’t finish it as there was so much food, it was lovely. The Peach crumble was chefs kiss!!! Great service, very attentive. Will definitely be coming back on a sunny day again!

What a wonderful surprise booked an able or 7:30 on a Saturday night, the king scallop with haggis was inspired and a marked ditto everyone else’s black pudding. The Lamb shoulder main was exceptional, my wife had the salt baked beetroot as her main which for a vegetarian made a really nice change , would highly recommend this pub

A great evening on the terrace being entertained by Mslil.liasings The staff were exemplary. Attentive but not "in your face". Clearly well trained & well drilled. We will definitely be going back as soon as possible. The food we ordered was delicious. I would highly recommend the crispy halloumi & crispy beef.

We often choose the Black Bull for our after work get togethers with the team, not only for the large outdoor space they have to fit us all (up to 15 of us) but also because we're guaranteed superb food and service! With 3 different menus to choose from of an evening, there's plenty for everyone and the portions are huge! You never leave hungry!!

We visited yesterday 15/5/24 after dropping my elderly mother at a friend's house. We had our 17mth old dog with us and as it was showery we couldn't unfortunately use the lovely garden they provide. We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we entered. No problem taking a dog in any parts of The Black Bull, very dog friendly. The food was delicious, the service was great, very friendly ambience. We will definitely be back.

The Black Bull is my favourite place to go in Brampton. Good food (OMG DELICIOUS SUNDAY ROAST)with friendly staff and as well as having cosy dining indoors, they have a sports bar and a fabulous outdoor BBQ area with bar and bouncy castle- weather permitting. A wonderful lunch at The Black Bull, our first visit and it certainly will not be the last. Choice from three menus, we were truly spoilt. The quality of the dishes was first class, the food was presented beautifully and was served by friendly/personable people. This restaurant clearly has a great reputation so book via Messenger to make sure of a table, we cannot recommend the Black Bull highly enough.

We called in for lunch and were greeted with a warm welcome from Michael, the manager. It was busy with a lovely atmosphere and despite not having booked, he made space for us at a cosy window seat. The service was great, the food was excellent and the tomato soup was divine! The best I've ever tasted, drizzled with a beautiful garlic and herb oil and served with a warm baguette and softened butter. Hubby had the ham egg and chips and apparently that was 'spot on' too. (I can vouch for the chunky chips as I stole a few) The pub is tastefully designed inside and has a huge outside space with a large dedicated outdoor kitchen/grill area and large outdoor bar. It's set in peaceful surroundings with beautiful mature, overhanging tree's and the silhouette of the historic church next door...we cant wait to return in the summer with the rest of the family (they also have their own bouncy castle, which our son will love) Roll on warmer weather....

This was the first time we visited the Black Bull and it was really good. We went on a Sunday and all had Roasts, which were absolutely delicious. The children's menu had great choice for the kids (including children's roasts). The desserts were also excellent. One of our group has a gluten intolerance and the Chef was really accommodating. The waitresses were also really welcoming. They even allow dogs! We will definitely be coming back.

We went with family to celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary. We chose the Black Bull because the food and service are consistently excellent. Make sure you book, which you can do through their website - they respond quickly - to avoid disappointment, especially at the weekends. As usual the food was top rate, the service very friendly and the atmosphere welcoming. The food was a traditional Sunday roast and simply delicious. Highly recommended.
