Beautiful location,, great for the kids as there is a soft play and service was fantastic. To top it off, I forgot I paid a £10 deposit for the table and I got a call 2 days later to refund me the £10. Very much appreciated and we will definitely be back!

Terrible food... Ordered a double beef burger which came with some terrible looking soggy cheese sauce. The burger was a dry pile of crap, the bun was so dry it was falling apart, the beef patties were dry and disgusting, it was the worst "burger" I've ever seen in my life, I had to leave the whole burger on the plate, £14 waisted. Kids meals came in massive portions but the food was terrible as well, pizzas were shocking, you can tell it was cooked from frozen and very poor quality and it wasn't even sliced on the plate..

This was a birthday treat from a friend and very pleased all round. Thank you.

I was able to locate a table, order my food and drink very easily. I had the carvery which has a good selection of meat and vegetables. The dining room was very clean and when tables were emptied the cleaning happened very quickly.

Went for a family meal had a table booked for 630,pm. We arrived about 520pm so could take my granddaughter in the wacky warehouse which was awesome and not too busy about 6pm I went to speak to someone in the restaurant to see if we could possibly have a table earlier and they arranged one straight away for us which was greatly appreciated.we all had carvery which was lovely and my granddaughter had food from the kids menu which she enjoyed all in all lovely experience will be back very soon

Had a lovely meal- Sue the host was super accommodating of 3 babies. Really friendly and nothing to much trouble.

We came in for food and for a play with our toddler. Tracy came and talked to me in the restaurant. She was so kind and friendly and really made my day. She got my daughter some colouring to do whilst we waited for space in the soft play. She is very warm and made me smile. Thank you Tracy!!

We come here every year for our family get together in November, (family travel from all points of the compass). Lovely food, lovely staff and we will continue to visit here. Highly recommend it to all.

Superb service and food was excellent.

Food and drink are cheap, but we had some issues (egg shell in fried eggs and main meal arriving after the majority of us had eaten). Worth checking if they have space in the softplay before ordering as it was very busy at the weekend!

Went to the Hartford Marina with my partner and his dad and we couldn’t have had a better experience. As soon as we entered the facility the environment was nothing but joyous and friendly, the staff were so incredibly kind, especially Trace. She was so lovely and polite and made sure the food and drinks were up to standard and made sure we were all satisfied. The food was top quality, and for a good and reasonable price too. Look forward to my next visit to the Hartford marina. And just a massive thank you and shout out to Trace for making the experience ten times better!

Had such a wonderful night. 17 of us came for my son's 18th birthday and the team were amazing, so warm and kind. The food was delicious and a perfect night.would highly recommend anyone to visit and eat.

Had the steak & ale pie, mash & peas. Probably the best pub lunch I have ever tasted. All meat, no grissle, lovely mash, really filling. The other dishes looked equally filling. And not expensive! Give it a try!

Went in on a Wednesday afternoon for the carvery and it was excellent! That simple! I can understand why the place was busy mid week. The food was so very good, piping hot, looked delicious, very well seasoned and tasted great. My first time eating the carvery and it was genuinely the best pub meal out I've had in the area! 1 veggie, 2 meat eaters and we all loved the it, just a spot on lunch! I will note that bar drinks are very costly. The carvery is extremely well priced for the high quality food served.

Friendly welcome, as always, and another tasty carvery with nice, tender, turkey and beef. I would have given a full five stars but only one car in the blue badge disabled spaces was displaying a blue badge ! Fortunately there was a space opposite today but we have had to drive out without stopping to eat on several occasions. This is not the fault of the pub management but that of inconsiderate and lazy customers who might actually need a blue badge space for themselves one day.

The beef was so tasty today Tracy was amazing very friendly and Sam the carvery chef very friendly

We visited for ou adult daughters birthday at 5.30 pm, there was no choice of meats due to running out,no roast potatoes, no gravy. I queried the potatoes & were told they'll be 2 minutes- after waiting 6 minutes no one was seen to be dealing with the delay or lack of service/ potatoes etc. A lady came and apologised and we were refunded - no carvery though due to running out! The Mill has gone down hill we will not be returning to eat again. Our daughters Lasagna was awful, it looked like a lot of mush in a container oily, no flavour - very disappointing

Tldr; Lack of meat on carvery, dirty staff, unusual low quality of carvery. We've been here multiple times over the years and it's been good. However, yesterday's (a Friday) visit was sub par. Issue one - Carvery meat; We were sat at the table we'd reserved and ordered our food (all carvery) through the app, once we were brought the drinks and carvery tickets we looked over at the carvery and there was only gammon and a tiny bit of beef left (looked odd as well, the meat looked pale and had a weird pink outline, and not the normal pinky brown med rare beef is). We went up and asked the carvery guy and he said that'd be it for the night (this was 7pm so the carvery was still serving for another 2 hours). There was no way between us arriving and ordering all the other meat disappeared so we were a bit miffed as to why the waitress that seated us didn't warn that the carvery was low on meat options. Most of us were happy to have the gammon but one of our group doesn't like it and the beef looked so bad she wouldn't have that either, after talking to the staff they said they'd switch the meal to one off the menu. So the group member picked an item off the menu (hunters chicken macaroni cheese) and was made to pay the difference, which as someone who has worked in a carvery restaurant before seemed a little odd as we would have allowed the swap free of charge (providing the guest picked something reasonable and not a pricey steak) due to the poor offering which caused the change. Issue two - Dirty/Poorly trained staff; The waitress that brought our drinks over handed all the drinks out by clawing the glasses by the rim (I rubbed the rim of my glass clean before enjoying my drink). They asked who was having the coke then proceeded to give one of them the Dr Pepper, there was a straw in the Dr Pepper to help distinguish which was which, which was clarified once we asked which was the Dr Pepper as it seemed as though they'd given it to the wrong person (the straw or lime trick is common so we saw it immediately). As well as this they forgot one of the drinks, although this was rectified immediately with no problems upon pointing it out. Back to the first point of this where they clawed the glass this was made even more disturbing after noticing dirty hand marks all over the waitresses shirt where it looked like they wipe the gravy off of dirty plates on it rather than washing their hands. I understand gravy will spill on shirts during a shift but the hand marks were very clear, especially on the back of the shirt. Issue three - low quality carvery; Alongside the meat issue mentioned earlier the rest of the carvery had some issues as well. One set of roast potatoes was hardly roasted and pretty much had the texture of boiled potatoes. The other roasties with beef dripping were all on the overcooked side, you had to pick through to find the ones that weren't rock hard lumps of charcoal. The boiled new potatoes were just barely cooked, they were pretty tough and not light and fluffy. The parsnips were the same as the beef dripping roasties. The rest of the carvery was pretty standard and of decent quality, I did like the boiled carrots and the gravy was nice and thick. Only comment on the rest of the offerings was the carvery has mushy peas and not steamed/boilet peas, this is more of a preference but proper peas suit a roast better IMO. The good bits; This was hopefully a one time comedy of errors as normally everything is fine when we go here. The two group members that partook in dessert enjoyed them very much. The staff were still friendly despite probably having a hell of a shift due to the meat problems. As whilst this review is relatively harsh we were polite in person when dealing with the staff to sort out the group members change of meal but from experience I know they would have had some rude customers over it. So whilst this experience was sub par enough for me to put the effort into writing this review we will be giving them another chance at some point and hope that next time everything is like it used to be!

We went out for a birthday dinner with family, looking for a quiet, reasonably priced place. Since my last visit the vegetarian option had changed on the serve yourself section. It is now a huge very nice tasting cheese & potato pie. Great choice of potatoes and veg to choose from to go with it. Good value and ok surroundings. Nice to sit outside in the summer and watch over the river. Would use again.

The carvery is seriously next level—so much flavor and the roast meat is cooked to perfection. I could’ve gone back for seconds (or thirds!). But what really made the visit was the staff. They were super friendly and always ready to help out with recommendations. Felt like I was hanging out with friends rather than just being a customer. I'm definitely going back soon for another round of that delicious food and great company. Highly recommend! 🍖✨

She wasn’t just a waitress—she was a superhero in disguise, armed with a smile, impeccable service, and more enthusiasm than a kid on Christmas morning. From the moment we sat down, Tracy was on hand with recommendations, jokes, and enough warmth to roast an entire turkey. It’s like she knew exactly what we needed before we even said a word. Tracy deserves a raise at the very least. In fact, Hartford Mill should probably make her Employee of the Decade or just rename the place "Tracy’s Tavern." She’s a true credit to the company, and if you’re lucky enough to have her as your server, brace yourself for a top-tier carvery experience sprinkled with Tracy's own brand of magic. PS: If Tracy’s not there next time, we riot.

The score is mainly for the carvery, which is rather excellent. The company was good, but the service speed suffered due to the venue's busyness.

Lovely carvery. Nice and fresh ( we went fo 430) I am Coeliac and told the staff and they got me some gluten free gravy and reassured me what was GF and what wasn't. Lovely staff who really did help. Thanks!

We really enjoyed our carvery and was very pleased with the service by Tracy, she was very friendly and was able to get us everything we needed! She was also very quick at clearing our plates away and bring out our desserts!!

Absolutely wonderful place. We went there just based on Google reviews and were really happy with how it turned out. Food was great, great atmosphere and friendly service. Plus they have a really great playhouse for the little ones. Mine didn't want to leave the place.! Will definitely visit again.

A really nice friendly place to meet up and have a good carvery.

Visited on a Friday early evening and had a carvery. Turkey, Beef or Gammon was served along with all the trimmings. The stuffing was delish. They even had red cabbage and sprouts! Food was lovely and good value. Staff were very pleasant and attentive. Really enjoyed our whole dining experience and will return. I only left off one star because the dining room was a bit grubby, dead flies and dust on the window sill, dirty carpet and threadbare seating etc. The tables could do with a thorough wash down with piping hot water and washing up liquid as there was a sticky residue which I assume is from wiping with antibac maybe? I know it's by a river and obviously gets very busy though so didn't deter me from returning again sometime soon I hope. ☆EDIT☆ Visited again yesterday, no reserved table but seated within 20 minutes even though it was really busy. Everywhere was clean, the staff were so efficient and friendly. Nice to see the manager on FOH, cleaning tables and running such an excellent team. The food as always was great. We had Carvery again. You all do such an amazing job and it boggles me how you keep track of everyone, booked and walk-ins with such ease and how the food is so quickly prepared to a constant good standard. Big pat on the back to you all, well done 👏 Other restaurants should take a leaf out of your book!

Carvery is a bit of a wait but food ok

We go to the Hartford Marina regularly for breakfast with kayakers from the local Huntingdon Canoe Club, and always have a great time.

Good food, short wait time, no loud music so we could have a decent conversation. Tracy really looked after us.

Been here several times before with a large family booking and had a great experience with good food, so went back with my family, 15 of us in total. When we have been before and the reason l make a booking is usually they position the tables so we have one table for all of us to sit at, then we can all talk amongst ourselves. We had 2 separate tables this time. We asked a member of staff if we could re configure the tables but were told you'll have to speak to the manager. One of our group is dairy intolerant. A female member of staff came to our table and asked who that was. We pointed out whom it was, and she was then asked "what cant you have if you're dairy free? " my son replied, no dairy, to which the member of staff rolled her eyes, said ok then, and stormed off. What else were we meant to reply?? Everything thing we asked this member of staff was always done with a grimace from her, no smile and no customer service. The ultimate breakfast is advertised as dairy free apart from the butter for the toast, but when the food arrived, there were no mushrooms. We were told she couldn't have any as they were cooked in butter. Surely, as they already knew in my phone call, there was an intolerance, mushrooms could have been cooked without butter?? Why advertise incorrectly?? The food wasn't as nice as usual, dry muffins, overcooked sausages, and hollandaise sauce tasted very vinegary to say a few. We asked for 2 lattes and 2 hot chocolates at the end. After 15 mins of waiting, we were told that they were waiting for the mugs to be washed, and then when they finally arrived , the hot chocolates were barely warm!! It's such a shame as we felt more of a hindrance being there rather than receiving the good service and food we have experienced in the past. The bill was £165 so it was not a small spend. Plus, when l got home, l realised my deposit hasnt been deducted!! We won't be going again On one positive note.... the score would have been one but a big up to Heather behind the bar. Great customer service, great chat, and laughing throughout the many drinks she was preparing for us . . Thanx Heather 👍

Really lovely carvery. A bit noisy which is to be expected at a popular place on a Sunday. Really impressed with the assistance of Sue - I originally booked a table for 4 but then wanted to change the booking to 6. Initially Sue said there wasn’t a table for 6 available but she said to turn up and she’d see what she could do. I got an email a few hours before the booking to say my booking had been amended to table for 6. So a big thank you to Sue 😀

All round a good meal but one tiny moan......the boiled veg it's no good just showing the Brussels the boiling water OK nobody wants soggy veg them and rock hard cauli spoil an otherwise good meal

Me and my partner come here often for our date nights and we always leave with a smile on our faces and a full stomach of some amazing food. Great quality for the price you pay. Lovely family feel to the restaurant always greeted and served with a smile and manners.

Took our Granddaughters here for lunch Unfortunately it was raining so we stood no chance of letting the youngest play in the Wacky Warehouse But they enjoyed the food and the Tombola On a par with Wetherspoons

Had a great meal, the price were reasonable & the draught cider was excellent.

We’ve been here a number of times and will continue to do so; the staff are great on the whole and Cam this evening was outstanding with outlet toddler, playing and even reading some of the youngling books we’d brought with us. Our son played hard to get this time and wouldn’t return either a high five or fist bump, which he usually does do, but Cam’s humour and manner was excellent. All other staff I’ve interacted with have been at least friendly and offered good service. Can and do thoroughly recommend this establishment. We’ve briefly explored the soft play area on a previous visit too and intend to bring our son back specifically to spend more time there.

Very fast service. Carvery was great, and ordered meals came out very fast. Very reasonable prices.

Only given four for food because beef was rather stringy. Mentioned when asked how our food was and Dan immediately offered me a different meat, which was awesome. Such a lovely helpful man. Everything else was superb - cauliflower cheese to die for!!!

Food was fantastic as always. Service was odd we had our tea order twice because they were not communicating fully and some of the staff need to smile more.

Overall great visit with good food. Great value and portion sizes. Only criticism, the gentleman on the carvery asked his colleague for help clearly feeling overwhelmed to be told No, we're not that busy (implying he should be able cope). Disappointing to witness, it's not the response I would expect from senior colleagues.

We had a celebratory meal and whilst we enjoyed the ambience and company of our family the food left much to be desired. The meat portions were tiny and whilst the Brussels and cauliflower were nearly raw the parsnips were burnt.

We sat outside as we had a dog with us. Would have liked to see the tables wiped clean before we used one, cleaned our own as had bird mess on it. The large gaps between the paving stones are a bit of a hazard, when trying to move the chair I was sitting on a leg of the chair disappeared down a gap, nearly shot me off the chair. Food was fine for pub food, good sized portions except for dessert. The outside area could be made a bit more interesting as a fence and shrubs stops you actually seeing the water. There were quite a few children running round at times which disturbed the dog, parents oblivious.

We are regular visitors to this restaurant and we are never disappointed. We visited for lunch and we had a last minute extra guest. We were lucky to get a table for all of us as the restaurant was very busy. We ordered on the app and our drinks came quite quickly. We all ordered from the main menu and the meals were very well presented, delicious and very hot. When our plates were cleared, we mentioned we had desserts ordered. The apple pie and custard is always a winner. It's the best we've had. The service was very good throughout from pleasant and friendly staff. The food is reasonable, the staff are lovely and it's always clean and welcoming and this is why we are regulars.

Carvery had one meat left only gammon and limited veg. Very disappointed. We were there for a booking at 18h30. We were serving before 19h00. Should not have sold of not enough food.

Picked Hartford Mill as a nice central location and lovely setting, it didn’t disappoint the carvery and meals we had were lovely and the staff looked after us extremely well. A great time had by and we will look forward to revisiting soon.

Arrived at the Hartford Mill around 6.45pm. We hadn’t booked but we’re shown straight to a table. We went to the bar to order our drinks and food, the bar staff were friendly and curtious. I ordered a carvery and my husband a mixed grill. We returned to our table and before long a waitress informs me I can go for my carvery as the other meal would not be long. The carvery deck looked amazing I chose to have gammon and beef, there was a great selection of potatoes and veg and gravy. I returned to our table as my husbands mixed grill was being delivered. Our food was hot and very tasty and with in a few minutes our waitress checked if our meals were ok. The food was incredible, the services was amazing. And the new look garden area looked so pretty. Well done Hartford Mill, we will be back very soon

Food was as expected, looked okay, but bland, staff busy but were polite and conscientious. Would try again. Tried again, and it was great, I had the pie (proper pie) and loved it.

Glass has lipstick on it. Food was below average. Food took ages to come out once ordered. We are regularly customers to the pub.

Beautiful pub in a beautiful location. We visited as a break from driving between Wolverhampton and Great Yarmouth on the way there for breakfast and on the way back for a quick lunch. Good food, good service.

We called in at the Hartford Mill recently and really enjoyed our time there. We were surprised to find how busy it was, but our orders were processed efficiently and with a smile. The speed of service and quality of food didn't seem to be hit by the number of customers, the carvery creation seems like a good idea and the beef dripping gravy with red wine was a gamechanger!! The restaurant was kept in good order throughout and the staff seemed to keep on top of things whle we were there and staying on top of customer service at the same time. Would definitely recommend and return some time soon.
