Food is always fresh and hot mainly cooked to order. Reasonable priced, owners very friendly. Worth a visit if you're in the area of Fenstanton, Fen Drayton, Hilton St ives.

The food was quickly prepared and tasted fresh. The batter was crisp. Chips nicely seasoned. All round great value!

Previously good gluten free record tarnished by an episode of lack of quality control. Unfortunately this caused 2 weeks of misery to the customer. On a lighter note ,chip portions becoming slightly stingy.

Freshly cooked to order & we'll worth the few minutes wait. Skinless & boneless Cod is sublime & Proper Chips. You won't be disappointed

Barry's Plaice is my favourite fish and chip shop. I order from here regularly and the food is always top notch - their fish is consistently fresh and crispy along with great chips. The staff are super kind and welcoming which really adds to the experience. Can't recommend them enough!

A staple of Fenstanton. Barry's plaice has served the best fish and chips in the area for decades (grab loads of curry sauce). The staff are quick to strike up a conversation and has all the charm of a good old local chippy. Can't beat it.

I’m a changed man! I was absolutely amazed with my experience on the 23rd of January 2024, I went in not knowing what to expect and left a changed man. The till operator was very chatty and managed to help me make my decision. She definitely went above and beyond with smiles and advice. Both staff members were acting very professional and served my food fast! I ordered a battered sausage with cheesy chips: and my GOD was that amazing I will never ever be attending another fish and chip shop again. I would highly recommend YOU stop here and treat yourself you won’t be disappointed:)!

I had cod, chips and curry sauce, and it all tasted very nice indeed. A light crispy batter on the fish was lovely, the chips were nice and potatoey and the curry sauce was lovely. Used Barry's as I was staying in the Travelodge 0.8m away, Google'd nearest takeaways and walked up through the village and got some. Ate them on a picnic bench, overlooking a pond full of little carp, and a couple of big ones too. I'm sure there are goldfish in it as well.

Probably the best fish and chips within a 30 minute drive. We got three cod and two large chips and had a portion of chips leftover.

Having to stay in a hotel for work I was looking for more than the usual junk food chain stores, found Barry’s on my phone maps by chance near the hotel. Very friendly owners. Delicious haddock and chips and the curry sauce is mega. And us northerners know a good chip shop, this one has sommat moist as well. A little more expensive than up north but you get what you pay for, quality! Very happy. I’ll be back when i’m next stopping in the area.

I am very pleased to say that I have always had a nice meal served by lovely people. We often go to Barry Place on Fridays for a wide variety of meals - fish, scampi, chicken and very tasty curry sauce. Not forgetting juicy gerkins ... I would recommend Barry's Place to everyone.

I lived in Fenstanton as a child and beyond and this used to be called Tabonys.. it used to be the best fish and chips around but now its awful and much more expensive than anywhere else I have been.. not recommended

Confused. We have been comin here for years. Before it was taken over by the current family and we have carried on using it. Food has always been good the wait on the food has not but never minded as ways always worth it. The new ordering system does not seem to work. People are in and out everyone seems a little confused as to what they should be doing. With so many people opening the door also surely it would be easier to leave it open? I could be wrong? Granted it was Friday night but I called and placed my order was told when it would be ready. Arrived at the time and the food hadn't even been started yet which makes me wonder what's the point in calling?? All the staff have always been nothing but friendly but when you have staff serving or in view of customers surely there should be some sort of professionalism? The staff were shouting about how busy they are and getting stressed out. It is not something I really want to see as a customer. The worst part was the fish, curry sauce and mushy peas were all cold and the chips luke warm.

Friendly staff, generous portions and reasonably priced but nearly everything is cooked to order so there is often at least a 20min wait for your food to be cooked creating queus at busy periods. Would recommend phoning ahead to pre-order and collect to reduce this. Probably the best chips in the area, but be prepared for the wait.

I had haddock & chips + a portion of scampi.et alone The chips were good the scampi was very good BUT the haddock was inedible, dried up & not at all fresh !!!! I would NOT recommend this fish shop let alone go back Plus it was over priced !

We use Barry’s quite frequently and the food is always superb,some reviews moan about the wait but personally I like freshly cooked food against fish that has been sitting around for a while,the easy was to get around the wait is to phone your order in so that when you arrive your fish is almost cooked,I usually pre order and by the time I come from St.Ives it is ready.We have tried some of the other chippies and Barry’s is the best,keep up the good work

It was really busy (Saturday night) but was not kept waiting too long as the focused team cooked my food to order. The fish was nicely cooked, crispy and not greasy, and as tastey as you could expect away from the coast. The large chips was perfect for two. We will definitely return for more.

I don’t come here very often because I always end up going away annoyed. The quality of the food is never the issue, but the lack of it being ready. I don’t eat fish in batter so a pie it is. I asked for a steak and kidney pie only to find they only have beef and onion. This is at 6.20 in the evening and it closes at 9pm and they only have 2 left. As always I asked why they never have any pies ready and they say that they could be left with them. They have 2 1/2 hours now to last with 1 pie.

A 15-20 minute wait on a weekday night is frankly ridiculous no matter how good the food is. Everything cooked to order nothing ever ready. Doubt I’ll be going back unless I have no other choice.

This used to be by far the best Fish and Chip takeaway in the area, however after a relatively recent change of ownership and staff had gone down hill.Meals for 5 people on Friday had soggy overcooked or old chips, so so fish and battered sausages with such a thing layer of batter it was hard to decide whether it was actually battered.Scampi was rather hard and not at all succulent as it used to be.All items used to be freshly cooked to order, which used to mean a slightly longer wait but was definitely worth it.New fish and chip shop (Eric's) in St Ives, a few miles down the road probably better now.BTW this is actually in Fenstanton and not the address given here
