An unexpectedly good on site restaurant, the food was lovely and the staff friendly plus the drinks were a reasonable price too, we will pop in again when we are in the area.

Delicious meal and good drop of plonk for set price amazing staff really good especially with our dog they brought us water and the dog a bowl of water with a treat as it was soooo hot that day.

I just loved food which is served. Satff is really helpful and friendly. Waiting time is a bit longer than usual but 100% recompense good which you will be served. Just a small deatli, on Sunday a menu is really limited. Still I am highly recommended to go and check this place by yourself. Great design and lovely spot to enjoy meal.

Our party of six were camping on site, we went for a drink at the bar & unexpectedly ended up have a fabulous meal without booking. So we booked for the following night & Sunday lunch too. The staff worked very hard under extreme heat conditions & can not recommend these guys enough. Top food, top venue & cheers to you for looking after us so well 😘

Disappointed beef wasn’t good left most of it as couldn’t even cut it,told waitress who told chef and then heard him laugh about it. Not impressed.

We stayed on the campsite for the weekend & were looking forward to a lovely anniversary meal at the restaurant. We have visited numerous times over the last few years & had a brilliant experience. Unfortunately the menu this time was very uninspiring & basically just an expensive pub menu, with meals that I could get at my local pub (burger, pizza, fish & chips, lasagne etc). On previous visits, the menu was more inspiring with a varied selection of dishes. When we arrived the service was good but then became slow & we had to wait an hour for our food. We were very disappointed with the menu & our visit & probably won’t be returning.

Steaks brilliant also prawn salad really fresh. Sunday lunch (beef) the only one I have actually eaten all of it ! Good wines and good service.

Another lovely weekend at Stroud Hill Park and enjoyed amazing meals yet again! Steak Friday must not be missed for quality and value for money. Plenty of choice of other good, well cooked, reasonably priced and pleasantly served meals also available. Recommend the scotch egg starter and the home made lasagne. When food like this is available on site why eat anywhere else?

Very friendly staff. Food was lovely and the atmosphere was very good. Dogs are allowed but absolutely no children allowed on the premises or on the caravan park it sits in. The waiter was very organised and efficient. Enjoyed our meal very much. The caravan park is brilliant too! One of our favourites.

The premises are on site at Stroud Hill Park caravan site where we were staying. We visited on the Friday night special 2 steaks and bottle of wine for £30. The service was good, the food excellent, and dog friendly area within the restaurant.

Went for a steak night with wife and a couple of family members with their partners .my meal was good and service was good .this restaurant is a bit unusual as it's over 18 only as its on an over 18 camping site. So if you fancy a nice quite meal out in a nice atmosphere I would give it a try .

Love this place never had a bad meal. The staff are great to. We stayed on the campsite which is so peaceful. Would highly recommend both.

We went for Sunday roast and we can honestly say it was the best roast for the price, we've had in a while. The staff were welcoming and attentive. The service was great. Highly recommend. We will be back!

Lovely building made to look old stayed for a meal offer was 2 steak meals for £30 and free bottle of wine.The waitress came to take our order she asked if we wanted onion rings and sauce with the meal no mention of extra cost.....when it came the meal was average. After we finished we went to pay .....£36.00so asked why it was not £30 like it said on the offer to be told the sauce and onion rings were extra £ 3.00 each We had a better meal just down the road at the golf club where everything was included for £30.

Amazing to think what you nearly miss on the doorstep. Lovely building, just the right side of friendly staff, the food was excellent and the price very reasonable. One of those places where you leave saying "that was really nice, we must come back" and there's no better review than that.

Went to The Barn on Sat 2nd April with a friend, shared the camembert for starters then I had the 8oz rump, I'm every chefs nightmare as I like my steak very well done but I have to say, it was cooked perfectly. Cooked all the way through but still lovely and tender. Very impressed. The staff were very nice and friendly, a credit to the restaurant x

We love staying at The Stroud hill caravan park. The barn restaurant is lovely and the food is great. The one thing that could be improved on is the vegetarian/vegan menu as there was only a couple of vegetarian things to choose from and no choice at all on the specials menu.

We’ve been here many times and it’s always fabulous food and great service! Thank you again Chef Tim, Restaurant Manager Stacey, Andy and Katie for a delicious meal.

Exceptional, especially as we were a last minute booking. The food and service were of a very high standard.

Our original booking elsewhere was cancelled and due to cancellations we were able to get tickets for The Barn who had The Soul Man as entertainment. Never having been before, we were pleasantly surprised at what a lovely restaurant. Not only was the food fab, every member of staff we encountered were really lovely and so helpful. So much so, we are looking forward to a return visit or visits.

Husband saw a mouse in the restaurant. Wouldn't go back.EDIT 2nd January 2022. I am editing this review after the restaurant's response. We immediately informed our server of the fact a mouse had just run up the wall near the kitchen. She said they had bait boxes and seemed unconcerned and doubtful of what he had seen. I would not post on social media without first informing the restaurant..

We were looking forward to a good night out and were advised to book because the restaurant was very busy and they had two large parties to cater for. The restaurant wasnt busy and there were no large tables laid up but we did book early. Food wasnt great! Such long wait to be asked about dessert that we didnt bother. Got up paid and left and no one asked why we had left most of the meals and if all was ok. It clearly wasnt. There was the added niggle of the flies which we appreciate was not the restaurant's fault. Such a shame. We so wanted the night out to go well.

Having come to a very busy restaurant on a Saturday, I understood there could be some time to wait when it came to service, this did not stop the manager nor the waitress staff, we were still served excellently and with superb manners and cheeriness despite the stresses of a busy restaurant. The only thing that let our evening down was not the restaurant, food, staff or service it was other customers. A customer in particular spoke with such a disgusting manner to the manager and waitress, making sure everyone else in the restaurant could hear her irrelevant voice and complaints. The girls had done nothing wrong. The woman threatened along with her husband that they would be putting a bad review on Trip Advisor, as I can see this hasn’t happened yet and still maybe just a threat to scare the staff even more than she had been treating them. Before it does though I wanted to express that The Barn, and not it’s staff were at fault. It was the woman who clearly thought she was better than anyone else in that restaurant and should be served both her starter and main course within a tight time limit despite the business of the establishment. Keep up your amazing service food and business and please do not let people like last night ruin the reputation you have as a business! I will be back again and again. Thank you for a lovely evening. And to the lady, maybe if you think you deserve quicker service than the Queen you should keep your miserable opinionated vile attitude at home where no one is your victim.

Having recently moved to the area, we decided to visit The Barn on Sunday for the BBQ and Band - it was brilliant !!! At short notice, Neil had to arrange replacement singers and the guys he managed to book, Freddie Hall and....sorry didn't get the name of the chap playing bass.... were amazing. Chef Adam and Tim in the kitchen delivered delicious, first class BBQ food while Stacey, Emma and the rest of the waitressing & bar team made sure everyone was topped up. Congratulations to Neil and the whole team for a brilliant event - we can't wait for the next one !

Lovely setting and building, friendly staff. Service a bit slow but ok. Food luke warm and slightly tasteless. Absolutely freezing even with jumpers on as all doors open.

Had a fantastic evening meal at the Barn restaurant on Saturday. I had the baked Camembert as a starter which was lovely. My main course of Lamb Hotpot was Absolutely Superb !! Pink lamb cooked to perfection with vegetables and a perfect gravy. Wine was very good and nothing is expensive. Neil and his team treated us like Royalty !! Fantastic service. Fantastic food. Fantastic value. Give the Barn Restaurant a try and I can assure you that your visit will be Fantastic !!! Well done Neil. Keep the good work up !!!

We arrived before our 7 oclock booking sat down got drinks and ordered, ordered pate and my wife had garlic mushrooms .55 mins later starters arrived. I was told they only had one chef and they had a lot of people in . Been here 1hr and 40 mins mains have just arrived. Waitresses were all apologetic but did their best considering circumstances. It may have been advisable to warn people who were making a booking as to the shortage of chefs and delays in receiving your food.

When arriving we were informed that due to shortage of staff (only one chef) the menu would be limited. This did not matter as there were so many lovely things to choose from. The baked Camembert was just gorgeous, lamb succulent and steak cooked perfectly. All food cooked from fresh to order and served with a smile. We will be back.

Very pleasant atmosphere, eat on or outside, there is also a balcony there, the food is great & more importantly it is frrshly cooked to order, everything you see on menu is all hand made, the front of house staff are fantastic at what they do

Booked here for the first night dining was allowed inside again. Had a very enjoyable haddock and herby potatoes. The staff were excellent and there was a good choice of bottled beer. Would definitely go again when in the area.

Always a great meal, freshly prepared. Staff are friendly and professional. The building is beautiful and has a lovely feeling with the fires burning over winter. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Disappointingly slow service. Last night of Eat out to help out. Busy but not full. Arrived on time. Ordered one starter and two mains. Starter took 25 minutes and mains another 55 minutes. Desserts took another 25 minutes. Had to ask staff a couple of times. Don't know what the delays were. Food ok. Lovely venue. Probably wouldn't go again.

Lovely food and value for a good cost. We went as our of towners and didn’t know it was part of a campsite. I was over dressed but didn’t feel uncomfortable all the other guests were friendly and we met nice people. Xx

A very nice meal in very nice surroundings. We all had an enjoyable evening staff very good.

We arrived at 2pm for Sunday lunch and the restaurant was steady but not full. We were seated within five minutes and drink orders taken. Food orders were taken before drinks arrived, but only by a few minutes. We ordered food at 2:14pm. Our food arrived at 3:17pm. We were seated upstairs, no staff came to speak to us about the delay, refresh our drinks or update us. It was not a full/busy restaurant. It became apparent that people around us had also been waiting a long time, as 40 mins into our wait, the table near us recieved their meal and they had been there approx 30 mins before we'd arrived. When the food did arrive the waitress had the wrong dishes (after trying to serve it to another table) and she grew confused saying "I don't know what I'm doing". She ran off with the dishes only to return with them and confirm there were ours. She gave us the dishes the wrong way around and left again. The veg was served and I asked her if it was for one person. She said no, it was for two. I was shocked, it was a meagre portion. The waitress did immediately ask if we'd like more, which we accepted and she did bring it relatively quickly. The food was lukewarm, beef was very tough and overdone, the potatoes cold. We asked for more gravy and got a small jug with a teaspoons worth in. The Yorkshire puddings were burnt and crisped to a hollow. At the end we asked for the bill, it took the waitress 17 minutes to deliver it and we had to ask twice. We felt isolated and ignored upstairs, no serving staff and no communication. Had they just spoken to us, offered us drinks or served us attentively, we might not have felt so slighted. We ended up with only one drink each and no opportunity to order more. They could have easily made another £20+ out of us on drinks if only they'd served us properly.

Wonderful friendly staff. All paying close attention to government guidelines. I chose the filet steak and asked for it rare and it was perfect, chips were amazing also. My partner had the barn chicken burger and it was cooked perfectly, so juicy. Would highly recommend couldn't fault our evening.

Fantastic meal for 6 last night. Lovely ambience, polite, professional yet friendly staff. Food was impeccably presented and more importantly tasted delicious. We had a variety of orders the burger, lasagne, pie and salmon and all around the table were comments re the good taste. So spot on compliments to the chef Adam. Will definitely go again and share with friends and family

Visited for the first time for supper with friends. Its been open about 6 months and is a little off the beaten track and even when we arrived we weren't quite sure if we were in the right place - we were! Its a lovely building and has a friendly, welcoming, chilled and cosy ambiance. The Menu is not huge but I would say that there is something for everyone. I am a veggie. I had deep fried halloumi to start and then broccolli, spinach and red chilli linguine in a creamy sauce, it was divine. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, the food could not be faulted. Well done to all, we had a great time and will be back.

We went on a Wednesday night and chose from their two for £15 menu. I had the haddock and my better half the chicken. We were stuck for choice as the couple on the next table were telling us how amazing their Linguine was .. We were served quickly by two waitresses. Very friendly and efficient. Food was plentiful and delicious. We of course has to share our usual Eton mess as we were so stuffed but could not leave without having one. It beat us. It was huge and divine. We had a lovely chat with the Manager who seems like a very hard working family man who is keen to make sure everyone enjoys their experience there. We will most definitely be booking to take my parents there for Mother’s Day.

Been a few times and have to say the food, service and environment have always been impeccable. Went again last night and enjoyed the same level of service and quality of food. Highly recommended.

We were staying on the campsite. We are regulars as it's a lovely, friendly, well run site. We booked for dinner on Saturday night at the barn as they have a new chef and it was fabulous. Lots of choice, great service and the food was delicious. Can't wait to go back.

Not dined at the Barn for quite a few years but had a memorable experience yesterday.All the Staff were very friendly and attentive. The Barn has a great ambience and makes a great backdrop to enjoying a tasty sunday lunch. The vegetables were cooked to perfection and made a great accompliment to the tended beef which melted in the mouth. In fact all three courses were excellent. Loved the Real Ale.Our thanks go out to everyone who contributed to making this a memorable experience.

I have read negative reviews of this restaurant and felt that I had to write something. My friend and I have eaten here a couple of times and on both occasions we have left extremely happy with the experience. The setting is an amazing barn, the staff are very knowledgeable and polite, attentive, but not annoyingly so. Yes you may have to wait a little for the courses, but the food is cooked to order and not just reheated in a microwave, which you can tell when you eat it and personally I don't like to feel that I am on a time limit when I eat out. Both times we have eaten there the manager has been present and both times we have found him to be very pleasant and friendly. Will most certainly return.

Ate one night here whilst staying over. Very slow service - just under 2 hours for 2 courses. Chips very undercooked. The two young ladies serving were very polite and friendly. Wouldn’t eat here again.

Went for Sunday roast lunch at 12.30. Food good value for money. Nice, ok, not startling. Service ok for us but slow for later diners. Had to wait nearly 30 minutes for the bill which was annoying and rather spoilt the experience. More staff would be helpful. Felt sorry for the girls running around with too much to do.

What a terrible place. Which is a shame as the building is lovely. It's true what others say about the menu running out - |ts a bit of pot luck as to whats on the menu or not. It looks to me like this place is in trouble / in financial crisis.

We booked for valentines evening meal and thought when we arrived at 6.30 with only a few tables of people we thought we'd jumped the busy period. First impressions were good and our order was taken pretty quickly, we only ordered mains as wanted main and dessert, and gradually tables who ordered after us got their starters - wasnt worried as thought must mean our meals are being cooked from fresh.

First off I would like to comment on how horrible the owner was to a family on the table next to us swearing at a young lady and throwing them out. As from what I could hear he couldn't accept an honest complaint about his poor service the customers had received which we also received.

Staff had not a clue on drinks or meals and what was available. Spoke to the manager who was the most obnoxious individual I have ever had the misfortune to meet. Tried to blame us because it was a late in the evening, (it was 8pm) then don't take the booking if you cant cope and have insufficient food to meet requests. NEVER come here if you look for good service.

Disgusting service, cheap over priced food and owners behaviour towards customers was disgusting.

I won’t be going in to the full details but the owner of this restaurant needs to seriously re think his customer service approach! Squaring up to a woman and trying to shout her down only to realise the men she is with will not accept that behaviour. The owner then offers one of the men outside to fight?!

There are two other reviews on this site for New Years Eve at the Barn and my review is somewhere in the middle! It was ok! We had a table downstairs (which I was pleased about) as there was a disco/singer upstairs who was very loud. The food was ok not brilliant but then it's New Years Eve. There was quite a delay for service and my cheesecake was also melted so I think the kitchen were under pressure. I think the staff tried hard to keep everybody happy which was probably a losing battle as upstairs were hot and downstairs we were fine. A waitress openned the double doors to outside upstairs and we were were sitting in a terrible draft. In fact, some people put their coats on! I think it was probably overpriced for what it was!

Beautiful location and building but found the food did not live up to expectation. Quite disappointing with the food experience

Lovely, well kept site on the Fens. Little Owls, Barn Owls and Tawny as well as a Kestrel hunting around the site. Top this off with a lovely dinner in the Barn and you can't ask for any more. Great site.

Went new year's Eve 2couples £300

A good menu with good choices. All the courses of the meal were really tasty. The starter was bubble and squeak with a perfect poached egg. Lovely high quality beef for the main and a tangy lemon tart. Service was a bit slow but we were there to see the new year in so that was not a problem.

Reviewed this restaurant about 4 weeks ago as "very good". However we went back, again as part of a large group, last week and I felt I had to re-review it to up my rating ! The food this time was excellent - I would especially recommend my salmon which came with a really tasty sauce, and my husband particularly liked his starter, the ham terrine. Service was also improved. I'm sure we will be back.

I took a party of 22 here for a Christmas lunch.The tables laid out were festive and the big log fire was a welcoming sight on a chilly day.If anything the food was even better than previous visit We were told they have a new chef.The roasted salmon deserves a particular mention those that had it were very impressed it looked wonderful and tasted even better.We will certainly return here again for future meals.

Fabulous Sunday lunch. Super fresh mackerel pate with the freshest crusty bread, followed by rare rib of beef with all of the trimmings and to finish Lemon Meringue pie. Just perfect! Would certainly recommend to friends!

Visited last week totally enjoyed the barn burger on my last visit so ordered it again this time, found it very bland no seasoning in burger, chips over cooked and had to ask for the missing side salad, abit disappointed as I was really looking forward to it, on a positive side there was a lovely log fire and kept us nice and warm, unfortunatly left smelling like a bonfire.

Very easy to book and a very quick response. Staff are ultra friendly and accommodating. Unbelievable setting. The Barn itself is awesome. As someone who works in Childcare it is so refreshing to find an adult only eatery so I can switch off and not worry about the littlies. The food is great and a reasonable price. For a couples romantic evening or a friends night out where you want to hold a conversation you can hear, then this is the perfect venue. If I had any slight negative to say it would be to have more vegan options, especially puddings. We will be going back a lot more.

We came here with quite a large party for a birthday Sunday lunch. Generally a very nice meal, especially the dessert of Eton Mess. Staff friendly and for such a large party the service was reasonably speedy.

Had a lovely meal at the Barn Restaurant off their £10 a head set menu. Would have given it 5 stars but was so cold in there. Please get your heating sorted out. Heather Baker

Excellent place - and quite amazing actually as it is off the beaten track so just relies on campers and maybe the odd golfer - lovely building and staff welcoming. Good menu for fod and drinks - highly recommended.
