The best restaurants serving British food in Berkhamsted Castle Dacorum East of England

Rude member of staff, was completely ignoring me stood at the door which was locked 10 minutes after there opening time. Won’t be returning

An enormous thank you to Vicky and the Make Believe Ideas Cafe. They hosted a rainbow-themed leap year breakfast birthday party for my four year old and it was superb. The communication leading up to the event was fantastic, Vicky had great ideas to make it special and unique (everyone loved the rainbow fruit platter) and there was so much food that even the hungriest toddler was defeated! The unlimited drinks were free-flowing with great service and they accommodated our extra requests (doing the rainbow piñata under the marque outside). Jess had the party of her dreams! Thank you!!

I called in for lunch before an appointment in the town. I arrived about 12:50, so I assumed they would be serving. I ordered a turkey and cranberry toastie (with chips) and a half pint of beer. I left at 13:25 - no sign of the food. A group of three sitting in the window who were well settled when I arrived were pressing to find out where their food was.

Cute little place. Dog friendly which is my biggest bonus! Friendly service and warm atmosphere. Menu is reasonable and good choice for everyone. I opted for the Mushroom and spinach Benedict. I was expecting the mushroom and spinach to be cooked together but it came out fresh, mushroom on top nicely cooked though. Eggs were perfect and sauce was very tasty. No seasoning needed. Finished off with a banana cake which was *delicious* The shakshouka looked gorgeous when it walked past and the English breakfasts looked decent too! Will be back to try some more food! £22 for Virgin Mary, Benedict and banana cake.

I visited the Old Mill in Berkhamsted once the new managers re-opened and what an exceptional experience it was. We were welcomed into the restaurant by Darcie who was more than helpful throughout our visit. They offered a variety of items on their menu which all sounded delicious but the BB Burger I had was perfectly cooked and had amazing flavour. My wife had the Lamb Kofta where the sauce complimented the meat perfectly. Our experience from start to finish was nothing short of amazing. We will certainly be returning in no time. Thank you to the new managers and all the staff!

Had a roast lunch on a Sunday here. Amazing food, great service, lovely atmosphere.
