Cafe at Make Believe Ideas in Dacorum

An enormous thank you to Vicky and the Make Believe Ideas Cafe. They hosted a rainbow-themed leap year breakfast birthday party for my four year old and it was superb. The communication leading up to the event was fantastic, Vicky had great ideas to make it special and unique (everyone loved the rainbow fruit platter) and there was so much food that even the hungriest toddler was defeated! The unlimited drinks were free-flowing with great service and they accommodated our extra requests (doing the rainbow piñata under the marque outside). Jess had the party of her dreams! Thank you!!

Warm, friendly, welcoming, place to attend. They go the extra mile for you. Brilliant smiley service. The sweet potato jackets are to die for. The homemade coleslaw is amazing. As for the cakes, best cakes in Berkhamsted by fair.

Lovely service and good food. Really enjoyed my veg breakfast. Great concept of play area and cafe in a bus, plus our son was delighted with the sand pit outside. Oh, and he loved his marshmallow rainbow sprinkled lolly!

What a wonderful quirky little cafe. An old London bus converted into a litte cafe. A real hidden gem just off the High Street. Excellent food, reasonable prices and really friendly staff. A lovely little dining experience. Thoroughly recommend!

What an amazing idea they had. Making a bus into a cafe! Wow! The service was amazing. The staff are wonderful and love to interact with the children even if they are busy. The food is amazing especially the cakes! They are all homemade! Coffees and hot chocolate were amazing. The children’s food are a great size and plenty to choose from. Platters, pasta and jacket potatoes! The sandwiches were amazing and so fresh! We will definitely be coming back soon as they will have the sandpit back again for the summer! Team on the make believe bus your all superstars and provide a brilliant service!

Wonderful family lunch at the Make Believe Bus. Really well set up for children… the menu has meals that actually work for little ones (rather than a child portion of an adult meal), staff are very friendly and relaxed around the kids, toilet has a changing table, and plenty of high chairs! Food came quickly and as it was ready so the toddler could get started. Food and drinks were delicious and reasonably priced too.

Wonderful concept and use of an old bus. The children and mum's love it. In winter it's nice to be warm inside with the children confined to the warmth and toys upstairs. Food is great for children and is the usual fare for a kids and parents cafe. Staff are very friendly, helpful and willing to adapt to your needs. We are regular visitors.

This bus was the greatest idea 💡 The staff are amazing, helpful, hardworking, polite and beautiful in general. Especially the Manager Vicky. The food is tasty, fresh and there is a wide variety to choose from. The presentation is immaculate. The place is clean and tidy. The service is five star. My 4 year old son absolutely loves playing here, having a drink and snack. There are great meal deals too. I go most days and get a regular oak mocha and a cake, especially my favourite rice crispy crunch. Very impressed with this Cafe Bus🙌🏾🙏🏽👌🏽👍🏽 Great job ladies...a pleasure knowing you all. Absolute love the new bus cafe! What a fabulous idea ingeniously set out with great seating upstairs, a kids play area,air con and cute fairy lights. Lots of seating outside with a shaded area. Room for buggies and a sand pit for the little ones. Large portions and a good size menu. Waiting staff were friendly, helpful and super proud of their new bus cafe. We will definitely become regulars ❤️

We came as a couple on our own to see what lunch on the bus is like. It’s delicious! Great menu with hot and cold food plus a fantastic selection of cakes and pastries. Absolutely perfect for families, what an adventure for children and there’s even a play area on the upper deck. Staff are really friendly and helpful, service was excellent. Highly recommended.

We took our young grandson here, and he always likes coming here. The place is very relaxed, and there is a dedicated area for children to play under adult supervision. We had drinks followed by lunch. Lunch is a simple menu, but with all the favourites available for children ( and adults). Every town should have a place like this!

Very nice coffee and cake in a relaxed atmosphere, this is a hidden gem just off Berkhamsted high street.

We spent over two hours here, firstly for coffees and then for lunch. Our grandson played happily the whole time and didn't want to leave when it was time to go. He played with the other children there, and the whole atmosphere was happy and informal. Lunch was a choice of jacket potatoes, sandwiches or salads, with a further menu tailored towards the children. I think our grandson would have been happy to stay all day!

Great home cooks and friendly staff. Pushchair friendly. Toys and books to keep kids happy. Craft Activities from time to time in school hols. Convenient pop in from town

I have been to this cafe multiple times and have each time had really bad service. I waited 20 minutes today as the lady said she would come to the table to take my order, she didn’t so I went to the counter where she was very rude telling me there were only 2 of them working today and they would serve us when they were ready. The tables are rarely cleared and we have each time been told pushchairs or high chairs are in the way. For a child friendly cafe the staff really does not seem to like children....in fact they don’t seem to like people!

Wonderful little cafe at the back of Tesco's Metro (parked in Tesco's car park too), fabulous homemade breakfasts, lunches, afternoon teas and cakes. Specialising in catering for kiddies too with mini size cups n plates. We had delicious well filled toasties in granary served with a nice side salad, young'un had a great hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows, sausage beans n toast, we all cleared our plates and had room for yummy Chocolate Easter nest cakes. They was a kiddies birthday party going on at the time which also looked to be great fun with the children making, decorating and eating pizzas, boxes and cup cakes looked after by a waitress whilst parents had coffees and a chat. Friendly attentive staff, clean, colourfully & cheerfully decorated for the kids, large toilet with baby change facilities, play area and books for the children, outside seating available if desired and reasonably priced. Will definitely be taking the grand kids again Thank you

Great sandwiches, cake and coffee for an on-the-go drop-in and a perfect place for parents to bring their children to read, play and be relaxed in a child-friendly atmosphere.

Aparecimos después de un paseo por el castillo y me encantó este pequeño café. Almuerzo picnic y granos nutritivos encantador en tostadas con café decente para los padres. Agradable tener un servicio amable camarera en un café familiar. Puede haber estado nervioso estar fuera como puertas abiertas en un concurrido estacionamiento pero el interior era preciosa con cada familia toque pensado. Buena selección de libros para leer y comprar y juguetes con los que jugar. Sin duda volveremos.

Fabulous cafe tucked away on the car park behind Tesco. Menu is interesting and portions very generous. Relaxed (even a little noisy) atmosphere. Ideal for small children - toys and books to keep them occupied

Estaba dispuesto a averiguar sobre este lugar. Incluso cuando estoy fuera y yo puedo entrar y tomar un café y mi bebé puede jugar con todos los juguetes en vez de estar atrapados en una silla alta y tratando de salir! También tienen pan sin gluten así que podía pedir cualquier sandwich me gusta. . También es una ventaja!. Gran lugar para comer con niños pequeños. También tenían un arenero fuera en verano!

He estado aquí muchas veces y nunca he sido decepcionado. Mis hijos tienen una bola cada vez que vamos. Su precioso niño cálido ambiente agradable amable. Cada comida que hemos tenido aquí ha sido una buena relación calidad-precio y muy sabroso y fresco!! Tammy (el director) es simplemente fantástico. Siempre champán cálida hablador. Ella va más allá de los clientes una para ella y paga una gran atención al detalle. Ella también ama participando con los niños.

Este café solía ser una gran familia, lugar amable para ir con niños pequeños. No solamente para satisfacer con juguetes, el menú era muy amplio y una buena relación calidad-precio así toda la familia estaban contentos. Por desgracia, en el último año o así que el menú ha sido cortados, y las restricciones impuestas cuando puede ordenar algunos platos de huevo, por ejemplo en una tostada. El último par de veces que he visitado después de la escuela, el personal tiene claro que no se quieren preparar temprano. Apilamiento sillas alrededor de orejas clientes media hora antes de la hora de cierre no es educado. También encontramos la camarera en nuestra última visita a ser muy maleducado y sórdidos hostil, ella claramente no como niños. Pena ya fue una vez un gran y único lugar para ir.

Que no venga aquí para una charla tranquila, pero es un gran lugar para venir con niños pequeños (o nietos). Hay comida familiar amable, colorear las sábanas y un área de juegos para niños. Toda la gente había familias con niños pequeños, como cabe esperar. El lugar es más funcional que bonito, pero es un lugar perfecto para venir con familias jóvenes. El servicio es rápido, y no importa si los niños hacen un desastre.

Sólo en este increíble pequeño café. Excepcional personal amable y la comida era fantástica. Club sándwich y taza de té a un precio muy razonable. Muchas madres y niños disfrutando del ambiente. También niños baños estaban muy limpias y bien vale la pena caminar pasado Costa y vuelve.

Good, simple, healthy food in a child friendly setting. Mums (and dads) can relax over coffee or food while the little ones play. Good choice of lunches, breakfasts & cakes

We went with friends and had two 3 year olds. Outside the cafe they have a beach/sand pit area with toys, tunnels, playhouse etc. It was a sunny day so they loved playing in the sand. We then went inside to eat. The food for the little ones was fun, tasty and healthy - they had 'make your own sandwiches' which were great. There were some really cool desserts (marshmallow and white chocolate 'lollipops', cakes, biscuits made to look like cars). The staff were friendly and very helpful.And on top of all of that, adults are well catered for with good food and beer !Will definitely be going again next time we visit our friends ...

Visiting at the behest of my former partner, I found the cafe to be a very pleasant and welcoming place. Nicely situated just off Berko's main shopping thoroughfare, the food and drink on offer was very generous and fairly reasonably priced, though I had only an Earl Grey. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and overall the experience was most pleasant; though my son found the play area a limited when compared to his tastes; perhaps better suited to the under-5s? As a rather irreverent aside, the overall decor of the cafe, according to my son, was "a little girly". Otherwise, no problems; if you have young children and fancy a lunch (or other meal/snack) then it is well recommended.

Well run cafe serving some excellent food. The menu is imaginative and a delight if you have small children as it offers a great selection for them. Can get a little noisy but it's no big deal.

OK it's not the place for a quiet coffee or a romantic lunch but make believe cafe is a fantastic unique resource for the hungry families of Berkhamsted. Not phased by babies and small children who behave like babies small children, the really friendly team serve great home cooked breakfasts, lunches and teas as well as tempting cakes and other snacks. We call it the magical cafe and I t's the only place we can go with our little ones where it is genuinely relaxing as well as a treat - and avoidance of washing up and mess at home...

I used to really love this place when I first discovered it 3 years ago. I loved the lunch here and it is very child friendly with a little play area with books and some toys for the kids. However, Over the last few months I have only been able to get here at breakfast time and it's been really disappointing. Bearing in mind you pay around 7. 95 for eggs benedict, I have been served a hard (clearly off) muffin on two occasions and the taste has not been there. I hope to return at lunch at some point and hopefully i will enjoy it, but this review is based on recent visits

I had not heard of this place until my friend introduced me. It is tucked away behind Tesco. However it is very wholesome and has great food; lovely sandwiches. It is designed for mums to bring their children as it has many books and toys for them to play with. It was actually started by an author I think who wrote children's books as a way to encourage them to be sold I read a couple to my own children and I thought that they were rather nice. I would warmly recommend this cafe to any mother or in fact anyone!
