The best restaurants serving British food in Bolsover East Midlands

Lovely bistro with friendly staff. We visited for brunch and the food was excellent. My husband asked for a veggie breakfast and really enjoyed the veggie sausages, eggs, beans, hash browns, mushrooms and spinach with a side of toast. My traditional full English was delicious, excellent sausages and bacon. The coffee was really good too. Very nice staff with good service. We would definitely recommend and visit again.

I'm new to the area, but have been to this store a few times over the last few months. It's not the the main store in the village (there's a Co-op down the way), but it's really handy if you're walking round the quarry, or from Creswell Crags. I've had a breakfast butty here with family, we all enjoyed it. Today I got myself brunch - food is hot, plentiful fillings, and the staff are always really friendly. They do sandwiches and ice creams too.

Popped in on off chance of Sunday lunch. Normally pre booking is required but they were able to cater for us. They even asked about allergies. Real ale was excellent and they also do an extensive range of decent alcohol free drinks. Staff were all lovely. We both had large roast lamb dinner at £16 each. OMG. It filled the 14inch plate. At least 8 different veg with roast, mash, pigs in blankets and yorkies. It was piping hot and absolutely delicious. Plenty of gravy too. We were even offered sliced bread to mop up the gravy. Being a pig we went for dessert too. £4.95. Absolutely amazing. Excellent value for money. Pub and toilets spotlessly clean. Dog friendly and he got a few treats too. Will definitely be back again but may plump for a smaller portion next time!

What can I say about The Devonshire. From the moment we stepped through the door you could feel the warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff were very lovely and attentive. Nothing was to much trouble. There was no wait time at the bar or for our table. We oredered the blade of beef and the lamb shank. The service was quick and efficient despite being busy. The food was cooked to perfection, beautifully presented and full of flavour. The meat melted in the mouth, it was delectable. Nothing was over cooked or under cooked. For desert we both had the lemon sicilian baked cheesecake, beautifully presented, full of delicious flavours and very light. Overall a fabulous meal. I would recommend booking early as it gets very busy very quickly, but I can highly recommend this little gem of a restaurant. It's also very reasonably priced. Can't wait for our next visit ❤️

What a fantastic venue! Amazing food, friendly staff, and a lovely, warm atmosphere. We were quite a large party (30 + guests) with a variety of ages and dietary needs, but everyone was catered for with care and attention. Well done Scott and your team. We’ll definitely be back.

Brilliant place the beef burger and onions are to die for, everything is fresh the breadcakes are so fresh the owner is so friendly just stop and have something to eat i come from Sheffield but I travel over to see my mum inlaw in Alford and I can't wait for my burger and onions ,. Went with my son & grandchildren so three generations. Couldn't ask for better service & the food was delicious. We all came away feeling like we had had a treat 😋

We stayed here last minute, family of 4. We had 2 twin rooms, myself and my 14 year old, and then my husband and our 13 year old. They had the bigger room. We arrived at 9pm, the kitchen was closed at this point. When I asked the waitress where the nearest place for food was, the nice man at the end of the bar said that he would cook us some tea and gave us the menu!! Amazing!! We didn’t have to wait long too, absolutely fantastic, food was great too! The rooms were clean, and had the basics of kettle , tea etc. although there was no ironing board ( we were there for a christening) my husband needed to re iron his shirt. I found the owner downstairs and he sorted an ironing board straight away for him. We would stay here again , the reason for 4 stars is that the mattresses could probably do with renewing, depending on how you sleep could slightly feel the springs and were very soft but all 4 of us still slept. The larger room had footboards on the end of the bed, my husband is 6 4” so not ideal however this isn’t the pubs fault, but just be mindful if you’re tall and want to book, ask for the smaller!!
